Haptic feedback on Wifi only? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do I have to wait for the 3G version or is the Wifi capably of vibration? The Wifi unit is so new in the Uk Samsung couldn't tell me either way so once again the community seems to be the only resource left to me, you can help?

Great thats nice to know and means I don't have to do go for the 3G just for vibration. The weirdest thing is that in the UK there is absolutely no dark grey models in any GB size or configuration. According to the distributor should have been available in both colours from September 1 but I guess the USA got a dark grey and Europe got the white only models in any configuration.
How are you finding the two GB with multitasking before you rooted?
I'm looking forward to jellybean with the butter experience, don't suppose you've got any benchmarks all videos after rooting?

GB?
Also I am on stock ROM rooting doesn't effect benchmarks at all on stock..
Custom kernels and ROMs would do that.
Also I don't believe or care about benchmarks. If it is fast its fast if its slow its slow..

Nope, I've a grey one and last time I've checked I'am from Europe, enough gray one's on sale here in Austria but only 16 GB so far.

[Q] Most likely picking up the skyrocket tomorrow. How is it overall?

I currently have the Infuse 4G and am looking to use one of my upgrades. The Note seems like it would be a bit too big for my tastes and I like the skyrockets dual core processor. I haven't heard of any new ATT phones coming out in the immediate future so that leaves me with the Skyrocket. Are there any pros/cons or any major issues with this phone? Will I notice that much of a difference coming from an Infuse?
Thanks in advance for your input
I just got my black one and I like it as far as I can see the development is picking up don't know how it was before but I'm happy. I had sprint before but before that I had a atrix and ran some roms from a dev here. You won't regret it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
great phone, and as said before dev activity is picking up ALOT. Dual core S3 with LTE, what more could u ask for. The speed is ridiculous, I could never go back to 3 or 4g. Honestly, my only gripe was battery, but rooted and undervolted I run over a day as opposed to 7 hours when I first got it. My advice, get it
Do not know if it is me but the radio seems just a bit on the weak side for my liking but otherwise I like it just fine.
May get the Note in time for the bigger higher resolution screen and battery life.
the note is only like what 1/2" bigger screen .. skyrocket is great though but Im not on lte where I am now it did however kick arse when I was in tampa 2 weeks

I really doubt Apple would let that fly...
I wouldn't have gotten one at this time of the year. Holding out for the S4 based or tegra devices may have been wiser. Although, I personally wouldn't get a tegra myself...

No reason to be like that to him. Besides, you're wrong anyway.
The difference in actual battery consumption between the two screens ends up being equal to or less than the difference between the 1800ma/h battery and the massive 2600ma/h battery. So yeah, the Note has better battery life out of the box.
Of course, everything can change depending on over/under volting/clocking, ROMs, custom batteries, etc.
Great phone. Fast, okay battery, and the community is pretty good. My only complaint is the screen line issue at low brightness but that's not really a huge problem in every day use.

Must have BLN!!! Whats the best ICS rom that is capable?

Title says it all! I have tried many of the ICS ROMS and they are all fantastic work!!! As a professional programmer, I know how much work this takes and the devs here are great at what they do!
But, I can't find a popular ICS ROM that supports BLN? I see some kernels that do...Are there any ROMS that use these kernels or are they not yet stable enough?
THANKS!
No way it can't happen on ics yet we lack kernel source to make those modifications
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
GB only until Sammy releases ICS source. Same for OC/UV type stuff.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I was afraid you would say that ... But there are a few custom kernel tweaks for ICS out there? I guess they were not compiled from source? How could Samsung have overlooked something so simple and critical? I wonder if I could build some micro LED hardware mod that integrates into a case? Maybe it could be controlled by NFC? Just wild thoughts... I love hardware hacking But im way too tired to be thinking right now!
I have LONG wanted to mod a smart phone to include a laser so it can be used as a pointer/range finder/temp sensor/lighter/blinder. That would be a hell of a notification light now
Sammy didn't overlook anything they never include any of that stuff and ics isn't technically out yet once the official drops a week or two later kernel source drops and our guys can get at it but until then the only kernel mod was to make it unsecure and make it take new bootani's

So Sam decided not to put a notification light on the phone that has everything? What does that benefit? Sure the button panel lights use to much power but why not a nano sized blinking LED somewhere on it? I miss messages all the time due to that. I didn't even think to look for it when I got it because every phone I have ever had since the huge cordless home phones of the 80's have ALL had a notification LED. So why did Sam decide to leave it off the Galaxy models? Don't say its cost! LED's are cheap as dirt! Hell, the thing has a magnetic field sensor which uses way more power, costs more and I have yet to think of a reason for it unless it has to do with signal interference detection. I know the FCC requires they detect certain Radar bands so they can change channels and not interfere. ???
Prolly lawsuits over patents is my guess prolly get sued for it and be forced to pay licensing which they don't need right now

A non issue for me. BLN is good and my phone is set to notify me by alarm every 5-10 min for uhecked ones, depending on what it is. Easy reminder in the market, check it out. I suppose this wouldn't apply if u keep ur phone on silent however, and would prefer a visual indicator to an audio based one
NONE. Try reading or better yet a search button or even better there is this new Thing called the world wide web and it has this thing called a search engine.
Try using noled. Its in the market, working perfect on ics for me.

[Q] Is this normal?

Hi everybody,
Just taken delivery of a HOS from Orange France....it's a great piece of equipment ....but...is this "normal"?
Have Galaxy I/O 10.1 tabs (2), Galaxy S2, DHD, Sensation, Prime etc; but have obviously grown to love ICS and its' look....Sensation running ICS and looks great, like the prime etc. but this One S looks like the screenshot below of settings window....sh*t! It looks like bloody touchwiz (YUK!!!!!!!)
Is this the standard HTC offering with this version of Sense or is it something that Orange france have added to their rom to try to make it look like a Samsung? Hoping that it is unique to the Orange offering that way at least when we get S-OFF I can get rid of it.....
But if it is common to all your HOS models I find myself thinking "oh my God why have I purchased something that's trying to look like a Samsung?"
Cheers my fellow XDA-ers

And thanks for the reply.....Mein Gott as they say somewhere in Europe WTF were HTC thinking of....real bummer.....will look into possibly bunging in a custom rom but this is my primary work phone so a bit wary for the time being...
What supplier are you on? Is it the same as screenshot?
Cheers m8
yes, That is Sense 4.0 And im on vodafone UK
Its not the carrier what makes it look like that, Its HTC
What a shame....like I said, for me it looks just too much like TouchWiz

Great phone, few annoyances
Overall I think it's a great phone, with a lot of potential. The battery life blows the Epic out of the water, the reception is WAY better, and the keyboard is amazing once you get past the initial learning curve.
Even the stock ROM is not that bad.. My only real gripe is the lack of any toggle buttons in the notifications menu. That drives me insane, I use those constantly and HATE having to go into the settings every time I want to turn anything on or off.
I am, however, eagerly awaiting a root method and some custom ROM goodness. Which will quite easily take care of the majority of my gripes (besides the non-removable battery).

I hated that damn epic. this phone is superior in every way. contrary to the "bigger is better" hype, I like the size of the phone. It fits nicely in my hand and I don't have to be a contortionist to get my fingers across the screen. the only issue I have to complain about so far, besides the lack of toggles, is that if you have head phones or a bluetooth device connected, the notifications play thru it instead of the back speak. But that could user error on my part.. It isn't that much thicker than the original Photon. I'm holding them both in my hands right now and the weight isn't that much different either, especially for a slider. I'm not in to much of a hurry for any custom roms. but it would be nice to have root. I'm sure shabby or one of the other great devs will have that taken care of soon enough...

There are other alternatives, just giving 1 example.
So far, my thoughts on this device are that it is amazing! This could just be because i'm upgrading from a DROID Eris from Verizon, but this device does just about everything right!
The keyboard is by far the best one I've used on a mobile device, its very tactile and the back light is bright and adjustable. The phones performance is top notch, no lag in apps or just scrolling around. I've even gotten my ps1,n64,and gba emulators running great with keys mapped to the keypad
My internet browsing experience is been quite good, even though I'm still using sprint's 3g network, all websites load up quick and are smooth.
The screen looks fantastic, although it isn't full HD, colors are vibrant and watching videos is great on the phone. Overall, i am VERY pleased with the device so far, and i cant wait to see what developers have in store for it!

I just tossed the power control widget that's included on my home screen. While you can't get to it from everywhere, it's only one button away.
The only thing about this phone that I truly do not like is notification light. I don't like green XD

Better than the Galaxy S III?
So, the question for me is how does it compare to the Galaxy SIII?
Well the sg3 was out because samsung does not update crap. So I was leaning towards the htc evo lte when I heard about the photon q. Sometimes I have to compose some sizable emails for work and the touch typing can get pretty frustrating in those situations, so I end up using my epics keyboard a lot. Even thought about getting the htc and a blackberry just for emails for work

i did actually, froyo came a little slower but i understand why, back then AOSP was really closed off towards just the nexus one. you want proof in that look at how long it took from eclair to froyo vs froyo to gb, samsung had based the nexus s off its samsung galaxy line so it was able to know how to have the code work on the humming bird a hell of a lot sooner. in fact the gingerbread update was posted the day ICS was announced, thus making the epic only 1 update "behind". granted its two now but its also past its two year mark (or rather tomorrow it will be, i remember picking mine up on august 31st 2010 launch day)
the epic 4g touch launched with gingerbread not that long ago it got ics and will prolly get jellybean someday. sgs3 launched with ICS and the tmo version already has leaks of JB, meaning it will prolly happen soon.
now lets compare that to the photon (im sure a few other moto phones fit this bill) launched with 2.3.4, after 7?8? months got an update to 2.3.5 instead of ICS, ICS is coming later this year which means it will only be one update behind until Key Lime is released this november, what do you think the odds are of the photon getting jellybean officially? so as of this november it will be 2 behind and stay that way, considering photon owners are 1 year into their 2 year agreement for that device doesnt leave a lot of hope.

Sounds interesting,
I would love to see some more development for this phone. It's really a good deal compared to almost any western branded phone (that is still made in China or Taiwan or Korea anyways).. Newman n2 internet problem
Hi there,
can anyone help me out - give me a suggestion how to make the internet connection working with this Newman n2 phone.
My internet network is working - Virgin however i am unable to use internet on the phone.
I have contacted my virgin mobile provider and from their side the internet is ok, i can see as well that it shows that i am connected.
when i go to settings - under "about this phone" it shows that under "mobile network state" it says DISCONNECTED.
maybe this is the reason why my internet doesnt work?
can anyone please tell me how to make this work?
thank you
Eva
