Q&A [ROM][GSM][DEV] [CM10]Unofficial CyanogenMod10 Port for Atrix2(edison) - Motorola Atrix 2

Figured we got Q&A now lets use it ...... To help keep the Dev section dev related not like 50 post on when wifi will work..... Post related questions here.....

Anybody else having issues with Bluetooth? I can only get it to find a device about 10% of the time and then it won't pair.
Sent from my MB865 running CM10

Could somebody maybe post some better screenshots of this ROM? Or even a video of it in use on YouTube? I'm interested to see it in action, but not quite ready to run it myself.

GPS is a no go....
**EDIT*** Never mind found a fix It will be released with the next major update!

So, how much space in /system is taken up in this rendition of CM? I'm excited to see how much more lighweight than stock this can be.

For those of you that have flashed this, I'm a little intimidated by the fact that there is a boot.img in the zip. Will installing this overwrite the bootloader?

Just to let everyone know that most everything is now working, GPS, Home button, BT is fixed, several more APNs added, DATA works.
What is still broken is wifi and video. You can use apps that use their own decoding, but we will fix that after we have wifi fully working.
We are very close on wifi, rdavisct and I have eliminated 90% of the errors we were seeing in dmesg about wifi startup, but we still have 3 or 4 errors that we need to fix before it will work.

No, not yet. We will need to work on that, to make it work for 2nd system. Also it is ONLY flashable using the Atrix 2 Bootstrap utility, no bootmenu or safestrap, as it will not execute the updater script correctly, and somethings don't get installed correctly with bootmenu or safestrap.

Okay I don't want to be sarcastic, or funny, or an a** when I ask this - what benefits does a 4.1 system have with a 4.0 kernel other than ui features and animations?
I presume project butter isn't working?

I think it is. There was not a big change between ICS and JB kernel wise. Google Now should work perfectly too. Also. It's CM. So it's worth the trouble.

Here's the flash requirements ....
How to flash :
- Tested on ATT and Asia verison mb865
- U should flash this rom on an ICS rom(I mean, your kernel should be 3.X, and your stock rom should be ics)
- Install safetrap or bootstrap to flash this rom
- Boot menu manager is not supported ATM!!!!
- Wipe/Reboot & enjoy it
If I recollect Jim pulled the ICS leak. SVC7 requires ICS leak as does the CM10.
Searched and haven't found it. Is it hiding anywhere?

The leak is right here, for AT&T users:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968
If you are not on at&t you will need to install the leak for your region.
And yes project butter is working just fine with CM10. Since we are on a 3.X kernel everything will work just fine.. the difference between ICS and JB will be small, JB will be more like when we went from 2.2 to 2.3... it changed names, but more like a medium upgrade... LOL

I'm using jb on my kindle fire with the 3.0.3 kernel and it smokes ics as far as usability goes.much smoother transitions, apps open faster etc. benchmarks aren't much different but i do find the user experience to be a major improvement. The fire has the same cpu/gpu as our a2 so I expect similar results.

[ROM] Manual/working port of PARANOID ANDROID 1.97a

UPDATE: After a few additional tweaks to the framework, this rom appears to be working for both green and red lens defy users. I've personally used it as my daily driver for several days this week, and found it to be stable and very usable. The one thing that does not work for me is the GPS, and quite honestly, I haven't had time to look in to it.
Here is a complete, working port of PARANOID ANDROID 1.97a for Defy. It is based on Galaxy S2 PARANOID 1.97 and Epsylon's CM10 1208. This is NOT a simple port using the port tool and includes the Framework changes necessary for the hardware.
I take no responsibility for any consequences from your decision to try this rom, and being based on alpha releases, I'm sure there are other problems, but I've personally used this rom for a prolonged period of time and the only problem I've had was with the GPS not locking.
Few things to note:
1. No offense to anyone, but this thread is not for complete noobs. While I will try to help when I can, I cannot promise any level of support. If you don't know how to flash via CWM, this is not for you.
2. This rom is based on the Froyo kernel and has been confirmed to work on MB525 with green as well as red lens. This is no guarantee that it will work on YOUR phone.
3. I intentionally used 1.97 as that version was very stable on my Galaxy Nexus - much moreso than 1.98 or 1.99
4. I've cleared the PARANOID defaults that most of the other PA roms come with. You can manually change the individual app settings under Paranoid Settings, or via the \system\etc\paranoid\properties.conf file which stores a record for every app including DPI and Layout.
5. After installing this rom, I "supercharged" it using a v6supercharger script (link below) and it did seem to help make the rom smoother and more responsive.
Special thanks to Epsylon3 and Quarx for their work on CM10 for the Defy, and Molesarecoming and D4rKn3sSyS for their work on PARANOID.
Thanks to brajesh.sharma87 for pointing out the bootloop "gottcha" of simply recompiling the framework (for specifics google "framework recompile bootloop" and read the first thread that comes up).
I strongly encourage any/all of you to contribute (make donations) to these developers.
DOWNLOAD ROM (double check MD5 before flashing - 96D409B4692319D9DA63FAA9CE1516A6)
Download latest gapps from here.
Here is the v6 supercharger script that I've been using and is confirmed to work with this rom.
Make sure you're on Froyo kernel. Boot in to CWM recovery. Factory reset, wipe data/cache/dalvik. Install rom, followed by gapps. Wipe data/cache/dalvik again. Reboot (should take about 2-5 minutes). Install and configure the v6 script. Enjoy!
Looks pretty neat man! I might give it a shot soon. Any known bugs for now?
This is only PA rom which I manage to get work on my red lens defy without bootloop..
Cheer mate..:good:
now testing..

Are you guys running Froyo kernels? Did you do a full wipe of data, cache, and dalvik after the install?
Trying flashing the CM7 kernel, this rom, wiping, and booting right away before you install gapps or anything else. And make sure you give it a full 5 minutes as the first boot can take some time.
Also keep an eye on the led by the proximity sensor. Let me know if it flashes red when it loops.

Sorry, didn't even see your thread. Quite honestly, I've only been playing with PA for the last couple of weeks and have posted in rajesh.sharma87 thread as well as the rom porter thread, but nobody over there seems to want to read.
Have you looked at the logs from the devices that loop? Send me one if you have an example. I've tried lots of different combinations in conjunction with the framework-res mods before I got this to boot, but have not had any problems with this version. Interesting...

If you're on Defy red lens, I'd be curious to have you try this rom. I'm starting to think it may be a difference in the hardware.
I'm on BL6 (flashed GB when first leaked), but have been going back and forth between GB and Froyo kernel roms and found Epsy's to be most stable for my device (which is why I used his as the base).

And for those that don't know, there was a leaked Froyo SBF with BL7 (see here).

Hi dew.man, if u want to continue this, I will close my thread as u know there's no need of having multiple threads for the same work. The intention of the guide and the tool was to let everyone port and use and not polluting the developement thread by posting so many threads. I hope u get my point. If u really wish to take this up I am there with u and will provide u as much help as I can but at the same time we need to respect xda.

First and foremost, thanks for all your help
Perhaps I was not clear enough, but I do not have the free time to take on any kind of support role. Please understand that my sole intention of this thread, was to provide/share a more recent version of PA/CM10 that I have been unable to obtain from anybody else. No offense intended, but I did ask you on several occasions to post a more recent version than the 1.95 you have in your (still existent) thread, and the only response I received was that you didn't have the bandwidth.
I also tried to work through/with kadevil's thread, but he pretty much ignored all the feedback he was getting about the tool not working for PA and JB.
Again, I was looking for a more recent version of PA (1.97+) with a more recent CM10 (8/06+) and was unable to find a working version. I built one that works for me, and wanted to share with anybody else that may be in a similar position...

Why Gingerbread exactly? Do you have anything against ICS? CM9 a5 is pretty flawless, and is senseless.
The cm9 a6 has a couple issues, but you can flash it, then flash the a5 .zip that XMC made, then pull the boot img out of XMC's zip and flash it with fastboot or hassoon's tool, and voila you have cm9 with the legendary a5 kernel

From my guess, OP probably wants something default since GB isn't that bad. Personally, I agree with you as the CM9 Alpha 5 is the sexiest rom I tried. Hardly any issues and battery lasts for a LONG time even with usage.

Same here. Wifi calling is absolutely necessary or I get no signal at work or at home. The issue is that when the screen turns off while using wifi calling on paranoid android, you lose wifi connection. This includes when the prox sensor turns it off. Speaker phone works fine, and there's an app called screen keeper that stops the prox sensor from turning off the screen.

I figured it out on my own. I moved to CM9 from Bulletproof where the GPS was rock steady. I still have the zip on my PC, so I extracted the gps.conf from Bulletproof. I saved the CM9 version off on my PC and copied the Bulletproof version onto my phone. One reboot later and my GPS is working great!

To use ICS roms you have to upgrade to ICS first.
As for roms, it's all personal opinion what is best. If HDMI/lapdock support isn't essential for you, I would recommend CM10.

Uhh..no CM10 is actually really stable. There are a couple really minor bugs left.. but it's Jelly Bean so it's smooth as butter (project butter) and is well worth the tiny bugs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869692
yeah, cm10 is very stable.. no random reboots or anything for me.. sure it has a few bugs, but nothing to stop you from using it as your daily driver. Actually what keeps making me go back to cm10 is that its so friggin smooth and ofcourse the little customisations you can do and themes..
For the OP, I dunno much about the GB roms, but id recommend both cm10 and and magicmod with performance and customisations in mind and that they are JB based
If you want full functionality, then all the ICS roms are good, just read thru the threads for the ROMs and devs description and screenshots and try the one according to need.. the latest one is numa and the first one is SCV7 which still is one of the best roms for our phone on ICS. If you ask me, you'll know which one to use only after youve flashed enough
Also remember to read the devs description of the ROM and how to flash properly, cause you need to use different recoveries for different ROMs. So better if you read up as much as you can. Do keep a backup of your stock ICS on ur sdcard, (i have like 3 now stock, cm10, numa) but you know how it goes, since youre already on a ROM..
Mostly youre gonna love your phone more after you get on ICS and flash one of the ICS and JB roms. Happy flashing !
EDIT: i missed it, but better if you post questions in the Q&A thread..
Thanks for the reply. I'll try CM10.
When installing ICS, will all I need to do is install .zip Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip? for ICS leak#1 or will I have to downgrade first?

Hi Guys,
I'm currently on 2.3.6 VictoryRom v1.1 which new ROM has ICS and will give me the best performance?
Will it be as simple as installing from .zip using clockwork?
Thanks for the help!

yes.. I got Optimus G Lets see how it works out. I was actually about to recommend your rom to this guy.. So was checking your both roms. Anyway We will meet again. I was off the development for sometime as I had SGS2 (I9100), It had so many roms that I did nothing. But Now as I'm on LGOG may be I might need to cook. if time permits.
anyway from my side a BIG THANK YOU to you and Jim.. for putting so much work on this tread.
I loved Victory Rom. I'm sad to hear there wont be another one for my A2
CM10 doesn't have a functioning camera? doh

[Q] Need help picking a custom ROM.

I really want to upgrade my phone to a 4.1 custom ROM that is compatible with system themes or a 4.0 custom ROM with system themes capabilities (CM,AOKP, etc.). I could not find any 4.0 ROMS with system theme compatibility (currently running SwiftyTrixy 1.3). I tried MagicMod 4.1 based ROM but the lack of video camera functionality made me revert back to a 4.0 ROM. I need a 4.1 ROM to have video camera working and be suitable as a daily driver. Tethering functionality included would be nice but is not a deal breaker. Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks.
Have you looked at the Paranoid Android ROM? It's nice, and a suitable daily driver for me. Video camera works if you apply the fix from altered in his thread. But I don't think tethering is working at the moment.

I actually just saw that today but I also noticed it was in Alpha still so I wasn't sure if it was stable enough to use as a daily driver but I read plenty of positive feedback. I have PA-Grouper 2.56 on my Nexus 7 and absolutely love it so this might be the best option. Any noticeable bugs in your experiences with the Atrix version? Also, thank you very much for the fast reply.

I am trying to pick a rom too for my Atrix2 (ATT US). I am still stock on ginger bread.
Questions:
1. Looks like NUMA ROM is the best so far? It's based on the final ICS release from ATT, that mean less bugs I suppose?
2. This rom is in Beta? does this mean it will go official soon?
3. After flashing to NUMA Rom, can I go back to gingerbread if I want to? or will there be limitations?

Well, we can't get oc to stick on boot yet, the ffc is botched but video recording and camera work. Flash still doesn't sync properly. And whatever other bugs that have been noted in the PA thread. I say you should at least try it out
It's the smoothest ROM I've used on this phone.

If you want to be able to go back to GB from ICS, you have to be on Jim's ICS leak 1. Do not update to official ota if you wish to have the option to return to GB.
Numa is a very good ROM. Read through the thread to find any possible bugs that others may have found, though i know the list is short.
Note: I repeat.. If you get Jim's ICS leak 1, do not update it to leak2/OTA, as you will no longer be able to revert back to GB.

Thx. Yes, I am aware that I should not update to ICS OTA or leak2. I have been clicking No on the OTA prompt and sticking to GB till now.
Do I need to update to Jim's Leak1 before I can try out NUMA?

Yes you'll have to be on leak 1 before going to numa. Also you'll need to fxz to a clean stock 2.3.6 before trying to put the leak on your phone. Don't set up any accounts once on clean 2.3.6. If you follow Jim's post you'll be just fine

So I finally got around to flashing the PA ROM today. Its easily one of, if not the best ROM I have used on this phone, especially for being in alpha. I actually didn't encounter some of the known bugs listed such as black lockscreen, rotation issue, or bootloop at motorola logo. One issue in particular I did not see previously mentioned on the dev forum was LTE not working. The first thing I looked at was the APN settings and tried setting each one that came preinstalled with the ROM but I was not able to get LTE. Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix? Also no third party flashlight apps work from what I tried. I can confirm tether is not working as well. I'm looking forward to more good news about this ROM than Christmas

Awesome, thanks for that flashlight link. Any advice about the LTE by any chance? I heard it can be kind of finnekey on CM or similar ROMS.

I always assumed it did since it said 4g on the signal bar in the stock firmware.

AT&T somewhat misleadingly calls their 14/21 Mbit HSPA+ "4g".

Thanks Buddy! :good: IF you wouldn't mind, I really WOULD appreciate you taking that one off my hands. But if you have the time that video of how you're going about it would be greatly appreciated. There's just that little "bump in the road" I'm just not getting around yet. That's why I got impatient and went ahead with this post.
If not for your's and Matt's help & coaching I would have NEVER been able to do this. ALL PROPS to you two guys AND YOUR PATIENCE WITH ME!!

The hardware KB is great and all the sensors & lights seem to be working well too. The Soft KB just doesn't come up is all. Strapped fixed the file already and I'm getting ready to see if I can make a flashable for the fix. Won't be an issue should you decide to run it though.

Absolutely awesome! I'll backup my phone and try this out tonight. I do use the soft keyboard regularly but I'll make due until the fix is available.
Just to confirm, since this has features from CM10, I'm guessing this is Jellybean, not ICS?
