X825A MTK 6575 Android 4.0 - Android General

Hello,
i dont know if this is the right subforum, but its about "x825a MTK 6575", the battery is dead after a few hours and i heared that i could improve the lifetime if i could root the cell phone and diminish the cpu mhz in selected hours a day. Does it makes sense to install another rom/custom rom?
My main question is how to root, which software fits, will all functions of the mobile phone still work (cam,wi-fi and so on), would the OS still be Android 4.0 and other stuff which u might know.
Unfortunately i dont know anything about all of this, i have read some guids but for other phone and i dont want to ruin the phone.
thanks in advance =)

when i flash android and wm is shutted down..can i go back to wm?
ok ok
forget it i understood
has someone XDAndroid on his/her phone??
is it good?
or should i use wm instead of XDAndroid?
Hi,
read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751
I use XDANDROID. It is buggy and eats a lot of battery, but I like android better than winmo so I carry this burden
You don't loose anything. Try it and if you don't like it just stop using it or delete it. your windows will not be impacted by it.
Hi does it matter what type of rom i´m using with android?
Or is it so that when you boot android, wm is completly shutted down...
Now i'm using one of the newest energy roms
@cynepmeh
you said that xdanroid eats a lot of battery life.
how long is the battery life?
Well when I turn all the communications activity and only the phone network is on it can hold 10-12 hours of standby and a few calls/sms. But if I play with it or use wi-fi and other communications stuff it lasts ~3 hours.
but I guess it is android aftera all. I have a friend with Nexus One and his battery is drained for a day
okay thanks

need help with my android version

hello guys;
first of all i want to thank you for caring...
its been almost 1 year when i got my x10i with the android 1.6 on it. at the early days or i cant say months,i was very satisfied with my phone, you know after all it was my first touch phone with big screen and most importantly i had no trouble with my battry life....i can ,i could stay almost 4 days with a full plug in charge..
but the problem started after the updates came to x10.... its was android 2.1 (the very first) well i was amazed that the camera improved much ,althout the battery life decreased to maximum of 3 days.... then other updates came on and on and i found my phone on 2.3.3 with the worst batterly life,i could say it would take me 8 hours to charge fully and it darained also fully in 8 hours... so i looked for custom roms and change my baseband and firmware almost every week..
so here is my question...
1-how can i fully format my phone to the very basic one, because i think every time i flashed my phone it got heavier..i want to know if there is something like formating the computer if u know what i mean...
2-please write down the baseband and the firmwares of the android 1.6 the very first and the first android 2.1 with 19m color.
3. and if you've got any solution instead of the two versions i mentioned above, please feel free to write those here cause i almost tried 10 basebands and firmwares but not satisfied with any of them... I want to say again that the battery life is really important to me .....
well thanks again for your time reading my post..i hope u guys can help me out!
guys where are you ?!!

How to select a kernel?

Hey guys,
So, I was wondering.. I am new to the all android experience, I am learning and I am enjoying tweaking and messing around with my phone.
Problem is that I am really un knowledgeable when it comes to kernels and roms..
I tested at least 5 kernels today and tbh apart from system performance on antutu i'm not seeing much, i'm wondering how people can reach 19 hours on here when no matter which rom or kernel I pick my phone just keeps draining pretty fast when i'm playing games..
I want to learn, to understand more.. but for that, I need help.
I want to know how to select a good rom, a good kernel, what features to look at, how to mess with voltages and etc..
I would love to learn, so someday I can be the one assisting other android users.

Only one way to do that : READ READ READ READ and read some more. And don`t be afraid to try things like flashing roms, kernels, recovery`s, mods. Always read the OP`s of the devs well so you`ll know what to do,

Thing is that most people here are already.. " in the zone " when it comes to knowledge, so they speak the language that I don't understand.. it's like chinese when I first look at it.
How does a beginner evolve like that?
Btw: I was wondering maybe I should test kernels and roms for a period of time instead of periods of hours? because I don't see immediate results I just switch a rom or a kernel not really giving it a chance to evolve

This is a very good start to stop beeing a` NOOB` and eliminate the risk of bricking your phone.
All users start from scratch bro, we all live and learn till the day we die
First don't care about bemchmarks. They mean nothing in term of user experience.
Second a kernel must be tried at least during one or two days.
Third there is no best Rom our best kernel. Golden rule. Each person has different needs and tastes.
And be careful when you see amazing battery times. What matters is phone usage. Good phone network ? Wi-Fi? Localisation always on? And so on.
What surprises you when you play your battery drains? Normal.
What makes difference is 'idle' time. Use Greenify, fight backend running apps.
Some people spend days tweaking their phones, and though don't have time to use it...

this is normal... what do you expect when you stress the CPU/GPU?
Thing is, you don't just change kernels and run. Many of the efficiencies you gain with custom kernels comes from the tweaks you make to the system made possible by the kernel. These are where you can get increased performance in many respects. Keep in mind, though, no matter what you do, the processors will still be hungry under load and there is not much to do about screen use except brightness control. (i.e. games will kill your battery faster than just about anything else)

Should I root for better studying results :D

Hello guys i need an assistance please!
I recently bought this Tablet, and im using it only for studying, so im mainly using the s pen for taking notes, but on the stock rom i dont have many options and tweaks for the pen (like what the button can do). I also dont play games and stuff so maybe reducing cpu power..
I wanna ask is it worthy to root the device and which ROM is good for that (i have ARHD on my HTC device it is great! ), flash a kernel, save some battery life and so on..
Or for these purposes i want it wont make such a difference and i shouldnt bother do all this stuff cuz they wont make a change?

Music stutter/lag when screen is off LG Optimus P920

Hello there fellow members,
First of all, the thread's title is for SEO purposes only so if anyone else runs into the same problem with this phone and start Googling for a solution this will come up.
The issue I have is really basic, I went through all the threads but I couldn't find a trivial solution for this. So I flashed my P920 (again) with V30A (it was a nightmare with all the unbricking process and whatnot, lol) everything is fine except one thing. This is when I play music and turn off the screen it starts lagging almost immediately. I am pretty sure it's about the CPU clock speed scaled below to 200Mhz or something, but I can't figure it out how to change this.
I have downloaded Trickster Mod but there are only two options I can set; the min and the max CPU speed. I've tried other apps as well, no luck. There's no option to set the CPU frequency when the screen is off. Sure it's a good way to save battery but really annoying when it comes to playing music.
I'm not sure if it's the ROM, maybe the kernel (i'm that kind of guy who can make these things work but I have really no idea what is really going on with linux based systems)
Here are my system specs;
ICS 4.0.4
OMAP4430/XMM6260
Kernel 3.0.21
P92030a-EUR-XX
I also have TWRP recovery installed and full root access on my phone.
I appreciate if anyone of you can point me to the right direction what to do with this.
(oh, one more thing please; let me ask you a bit off-topic somehow according to this; ever since I upgraded from Froyo, somehow I feel this fantastic phone a bit slow. It's not as responsive with ICS as it used to be with Froyo, I don't know I would say it's something like when you have a fairly old PC with WinXP and it runs pretty well but once you upgrade it to Win7 it's still okay but not that "lightning fast" when it was with XP. So yeah, maybe it's the old hardware - new software case that I'm "feeling" but 2.2 was definitely better (in terms of speed) when these latest operating systems available for P920).
Just Try flashing a custom kernel!
