[Download Link] Flipboard 1.9.10(latest build) - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi guys, as you may know Flipboard is not compatible with our device yet so you can't get it from Google Play but is working quiet nice on Infinity. Here you can download the latest build (i will try to keep this topic always updated with the latest build) --> Flipboard 1.9.10 ( latest build)
Update 20/12/2012 : You can download the Flipboard app directly from Google Play.

Yes, only works in portrait mode but to be honest is not bad and i personally use big characters instead of normal/medium wich imo makes it even better.

i downloaded set orientation in google play and it works fine for me. thanks

How do folks feel about this versus Pulse, and Google Currents? Seems like they are all largely accomplishing the same thing, but perhaps with different exclusive content among the various offerings. Amirite?

I really like Pulse the best... I just can't stand apps that only work in portrait mode since I leave my tablet docked 90% of the time (at least)... Currents is nice as well, but Pulse seems to let me see the most "stuff" on a single screen, letting me browse more quickly...

Sorry but i don't get it, what do you mean with set orientation in Google Play?
EDIT: Oh, you are saying that we can download an app called "Set Orientation" from Google Play and use it to force Landscape mode on Flipboard.

Flipboard Sucks -- Feedly is better and has had android support from the start,
Flipboard (with their horrible android support) is for apple fanboys. Feedly is a fantastic rss feed reader and the new update (tonight) makes is more stylish than flipboard. Also, looks great on tablets, landscape mode and all.

+1 For Feedly.

I sent myself the apk from my rezound using appmonster the day I got my tf700, any reason I should install this download?? Looks like the same version, 1.9.6, any tablet optimization in this download?

First post updated with latest build --> Flipboard 1.9.6 (build 148)

Thanks for keeping it up to date. The link in OP seems to be broken however.
edit: strange, Firefox didn't like it until I opened in a new window. Got it now. Thanks again.

Where were you able to get a working apk for Zinio? I couldn't find anything on their website about android support. I really want to use their service, but without an app for my TF I just can't get myself to take the plunge.

Well, that just makes me even more excited for the update.
(Just got the tablet end of last week, so I'm still in that hesitant stage before rooting / custom romming her)
It is on the 3.1 that Roach posted.
Did any of you guys used Zinio yet? I would like some feedback...
I used it on the iPad and it was good. Transformer is coming today so I'll post how it works here.

I would greatly appreciate it. I really enjoy me some mags, but it's a pain in my (you know) to keep track of all those print copies, not to mention how much space they take up.
Zinio looks like my solution, I just can't do it without an app for my tf you know? But yeah, if you could post your thoughts I'd be quite grateful.
Yeah it came with the 3.1 update and it works fine although the text has been a bit blurry a couple of times but it seemed to sort itself, there's not a lot of options either its very basic but i love reading my mags subscriptions on my transformer so it does me fine

Well u have to download that they can be viewed offline. Also the zinio version that ships with the 3.1 update no longer works since there is a version on the market the one pre loaded in the tf101 is no longer supported by zinio and doesn't work is now u have two apps in the app drawer which is kinda anoying

That is really annoying. On another note, I kind of wish this app wasn't included in the first place. I have no need / use for it, but don't wish to root the TF, just to remove it. Although, I should admit that I have found most of the other "bloatware" apps that have been included quite useful (Polaris, for example)
Nook app
I've been using the Nook app for magazine reading. Images are sharper than Zinio in the few mags I've tried and the "Article View" is really useful. The only con is that the app is a little slow. Hopefully the 3.1 overclock kernels are not too far away (release the codes Asus, lol).

Are you guys able to play custom games? I only get the option to play the campaign mode and I'd really like to play multiplayer type custom games by myself against the AI like I used to... I've seen screen shots of menus where it has the option, not sure why I don't?
sweets to be a work in progress, when i first got the app it did crash a lot but as he patches it is gets better. Looking forward to it being fully stable and other improvements.

Can anyone verify it's the same for them?

Market New version 3.4.4

Google has started to pushing out a new Market update in V.3.4.4. The inspection of your apps operates more quickly than before (apparently).
You can add tips or shortcuts on your home screen. The option is visible "auto-adds shortcuts" on the apk settings. Look screen
Is it really faster?
Is it bugg more less?
Root is not required
If you find something more different with the ancient versions, tell us on your post.
Download the new Market.
it does appear quicker but it could just be me.
Thanks, will give it a whirl later.

dolphin hd for me. but i'm excited to see firefox come into the picture for ICS. hopefully they will get their act together for the mobile market. their original mobile firefox was terrible.
i have used the stock browser, ICS+ Browser, Chrome Beta, Dolphin Pad, Opera Next, Opera Mobile, Firefox beta, and Boat.
so far, the one with the best balance between stabliity and speed is Dolphin. Though the .29 update made chrome more usable.
I have found dolphinhd and opera to be the smoothest I have used.
Opera mobile for me. As much as I want to like the Chrome beta (and it is, really, really good) I feel that Opera is still the best browser for touchscreen devices. It still has some issues with a few sites, but it's been getting steadily better and has received a steady stream of updates.
Opera mini (not mobile) is the fastest smoothest browser. It has page transitions and seems to take a static approach, as though it takes a snapshot of the page before displaying it. The scrolling and animations are always fluid. The graphics do appear compressed. This browser definitely has its place for me.
I also use the stock browser when I need a more full featured browser, which is the best in that category due to the quick controls and bookmarks.
I have tried the chrome browser on differnent tablets and its quite slow, not ready for prime time in my opinion. Its excellent on the galaxy nexus phone, though.
Firefox is no good, dolphin is fine but has no advantage over stock in my opinion.

Has anyone used Flash much? The only browser I seem to get Flash working on OK is Opera Mobile. Firefox and Chrome don't seem to want to run flash at all.
Overskreen is interesting as it performs as an independent resizable Window on top of every app which means true multitasking...? Multiple Windows are possible as well.

Chrome for Android has never had flash support:
What version of Flash is supported on Chrome for Android?
Chrome for Android will not be supporting Flash. As you may have seen in November, 2011, Adobe announced it has stopped investing in Flash for mobile browsing. Google has long been committed to making the web platform more powerful through open web technologies like HTML5 and is working with Adobe and other partners to further advance the web standard.

[LIST/REQ] Floating Android Apps

What was originally a request to find floating apps, turned into a list:
Browsers:
OverSkreen (Jelly Bean currently not supported, says in change notes it is work in progress. There are mixed results when sideloaded)
Floating Browser Flux
Video Players:
Stick it (Supports YouTube)
Super Video
DicePlayer
BSPlayer
Other:
hovernote - Notepad
LilyPad - Facebook, Google Talk, MSN messenger (other services like skype are said to be coming)
AirCalc - Calculator
AirTerm - Terminal
More information here
Any others?
sadly the browser is not comaptible with the tf700
someone tried to sideload it ?
I've used LilyPad HD and HoverNote. I use HoverNote primarily for taking notes while reading PDFs. LilyPad seems to drain battery a bit much so I don't leave it on as a service
I really miss Overskreen on my TF700 after upgrading to Jelly Bean!
I do, however, still use Air Term, Hover Note and Floating Calculator.... Eagerly awaiting a JB version of Overskreen!

Interesting - I sideloaded Overskreen and while it installed fine and *seemed* to work, I found that it kept locking up on my while trying to actually use it. I'd be curious to hear from others who have sideloaded it in Jelly Bean, along with their results... I would *love* to be able to use it, but being that even the developer says that it doesn't work properly with Jelly Bean, I'm a little skeptical that it actually works properly...

Sorry, what I mean was that after I start using Overskeen, the Overskeen app itself will just "freeze" - I can close it, but otherwise, it just sits there and does nothing. It happened multiple times in the 10 minutes that I tried to use it. Haven't had any issues with any other apps, so I suspect that it is a problem with Overskreen (especially since the author says that it's not ready for Jelly Bean). If you are able to use it without any issues, maybe I'll give it another shot later...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
No freezing at all. Its a bit laggy if you drag it across the screen.
But there is no problem using 2 or 3 "windows" at all.
BTW: Do anyone know a floating PDF Viewer app?
I had Overskreen installed before I updated to JB, Still works after, no locking up or lags. Though, I do notice it seems less responsive when I touch/click links.
there is also floatIRC for those who still stuck in the 90's like me
I brought Hover note a while back for University note taking and revision purposes and its great. It also works fine on both my JB nexus 7 and Galaxy s2, Check out my review
