[ROM][WIP][10/21/12] MIUIAndroid 2.9.14 with Jellybean [Alpha4] - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

MIUI Android with JellyBean
RIL/PHONE fixed!! This is something that's been a thorn in the side of these ROMS for a while. Sorry for the delay, but I didn't want to keep releasing small fixes until I dealt with this major issue. If you don't know what I'm talking about, count your blessings. If you DO, the fix allows you to switch from 4g to 3g and back, the phone will now pick the network correctly, you can enter Mobile Network Settings without losing data, you can edit things in Mobile Network Settings effectively. Phone info is fixed as well so you can also dial *#*#4636#*#* to edit your preferred network as well.
Welcome to unofficial MIUI Android port for Verizon's SGS3.
- CM10 20120914 base
- MIUI Android 2.9.14 port
- CM10 stock kernel: available here
DISCLAIMER: By altering your phone as described in this thread, you have the potential to brick your device, void your warrenty, and other undesirable things. I, nor anyone else, am not responsible for what with your phone. Back everything up, including comprehensive IMEI/NV backup...it's already saved me
If you're completely new to rooting and installing ROMS, check out this thread.
How to install:
1. Make sure you are rooted and your bootloader is unlocked
2. Backup everything you possible can
3. Reboot into recovery, make a nandroid, and wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik
4. Flash ROM
5. Reboot and enjoy
What works:
- Phone
- Data/4g/Wifi
- SMS/MMS (works for me even after reboot)
- Themes
- Play Store
- Camera/Camcorder (just re-fixed)
- Google Now/Search
- and more!
What's broken:
- Notification sounds (e.g ringtone, notification sounds, camera sounds, etc) don't play unless you manually change volume. Adjust the volume with the rocker until you hear a beep.
Then you should be good.
- NFC (fix is in the works)
- Facebook (MIUI-wide issue)
- Torch causes soft-reboot
- also probably more...
Changes:
- Alpha4:
- Fixed the RIL/telephony/phone incompatibility stuff
- removed the Xiaomi welcome/login
- Alpha3:
- rebased to CM10 09142012 and updated to MIUI Android 2.9.14
- SD card fixed so internal and external are both available at the same time
- LED notification fix
- added 4-way reboot
- fixed an NFC related FC, though NFC is still...not ideal
- enabled soft-key backlights
- I THINK I eliminated Gapps FCs
- overall data is much more stable (though see the above note!)
- Alpha2:
- fixed camera (works after multiple reboots for me now)
- fixed Google Search/Now so there's no need to flash Gapps anymore
- Alpha1:
- Initial port
- Screen flicker fixed
- HW keyboard fixed
Thanks:
- As above
- Cyanogenmod team
- Lens_flare and all the other MIUI devs
- MIUI Android
- chairface, R4INS, lithium76, sasovics

PM me if you'd really like to help out. It'd be good to have another hand. Actually, flashing the new GAPPS doesn't change the theming. It may not even be necessary. There were only a few test runs where I was having trouble with Google Search.

As far as you gapps question, I did not flash them.
Another thing I noticed when I plugged in to my puter the screen went black and wouldn't turn back on?

I just flashed and I get 3g apparently, but no 4g, and I am in a 4g area. Also my camera freezes after taking a picture. Anyone else confirm?
Edit: 4g just came on. Camera still borked.

Running it now and all is good.

Ran solid until I rebooted and installed gapps. Stuck at an activation screen now. lol.

I can confirm the camera issue, mine did the same thing after trying to take a picture. "Camera isn't responding. Do you want to close it?" Didn't save the photo either.
Also just opened the options in the camera and you can only use up to 3MP??
Also cannot filter music by folder under music settings.
Kinda seems like it isn't seeing the external SD card??
Now I am having wifi issues, it turned on earlier and connected to my wifi. But once I rebooted the wifi will not turn back on? Also received a com.phone.android error on reboot.
-got my wifi working again, rebooted into recovery cleared cache and fixed permissions - profit!

[rom] cm-11.0 unofficial

Thread is dead...
I thought I would be nice and share the builds I've been compiling for myself. I will try to make a new build when something new comes up. I'm only compiling this ROM, not developing it so please, give all the credit to the many real developers out there that make fun stuff like this for us to play with. Having said that, please no add this or fix that.
Flashing Instructions:
USE LATEST CWM RECOVERY
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Format System
Flash ROM
Flash 4.4 Gapps http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=7988
Reboot
Enjoy!
*To use the search feature in the dialer you must flash these KANGED gapps:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=9592
It is recommended that you flash the regular PA Gapps first, boot up, then reboot to recovery and flash the KANGED gapps over top
**Dirty Flashing (Flashing without wiping data) is not recommended**
As for the current build:
SD card working, using invisiblek's old roomservice.xml
Front and Rear Camera Working using the 4.3 camera for now
Includes the kitkat camera, front and rear cameras working
Basics like phone, sms, mms are all working
Working Netflix using this version, includes Chromecast support
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291678460
Thank you bluezr1 for the tip!
*The current build allows the most recent version of Netflix to work

Glad to see another development thread for cm 11!! Thanks for your efforts!
I believe I saw in the other thread that we have to use CWM to flash and can't use TWRP... is that still the case? I prefer and use TWRP, so changing really isn't desired.

How is the back camera? Last time I heard it worked but the pictures were fuzzy. Is that still the case?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
just ran a few camera test and all seems great. pics are pretty good. sms and mms work for me. i reverted back to delvik because ART seems to mess up some apps (Tibu for instance) and personally i see no difference in performance. i have been running this ( 11/12 build) since it dropped and don't see a reason to change. EVERYTHING works.

[APP][2.2+] re-boot

So I got bored yesturday and needed an app that would hotboot my phone but couldn't find so I made one.
Features:
reboot
reboot recovery
reboot bootloader
Hot boot
power off
safe mode
Version 1.1
added a hotboot widget
and power off widget
version 3
added support for android tv tested on nexus player works great. Should work on all rooted android tvs
root is required it's pretty simple just open the app, choose an option and click it.
Source code is here https://github.com/asadullahibnrob/Re-boot
It should work on all devices but I've only tested it on two galaxy variants. Love, peace, and hair grease.
I'm adding a paid version in the market if you wanna support development. BUT I'm always gonna have the full version here free on xda.

No flashify flashes boot images and that kind of thing whereas my app just reboots your phone in different ways.
No if u look careful at the top right corner where the three vertical dots are in flashify u press that that will show you different ways of rebooting your phone

xda rule 15:

Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is that your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
Actually persianrisk is right. In Flashify you can reboot in recovery etc. But your app should help who don't have that app. ?
Well its taken me about a day but I've added widgets well one widget just the hotboot. Those things are confusing! I'll add the new apk around ten hopefully I'll have the ability to choose what function the widget does before then. Good thing I have more than one device sent one into bootloop. Gotta figure this out

Anyways I added a power off widget. Looking at options to avoid having to make separate classes for each widget not the way to go but if I get a request it only takes minutes (probably ten at most) I can add the other functions. I'm gonna take a break to add a widgethost to a launcher I'm working on. Anyways enjoy.
New update!!!
Added the superuser permission to manifest as well as changed the ui a little.
Another update added android tv support. Questions comments or complaints pm me.

The links to these old builds will stay here.
Thanks for all the support, folks.

The usual disclaimers: I'm not responsible for anything going wrong, including but not limited to bricking your tablet, requiring reflashes, or the NSA spying on you.
Merged changes: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/q/status:merged+branch:cm-12.0,n,z
If something doesn't work, I doubt I can help you, I'm not developer. I just ran the build and installed it on my Nexus 7 to see if it works (it does!). No cherry picks, just merged CM ROM/Kernel. However, if something doesn't work, post it.
What works: Everything stock plus a few CM features.
What's broken: GPS?
What's here (1/03+):
Battery % indicator in notification bar, choosable style
A bunch of behind the scenes stuff
Trebuchet
Status bar brightness control
Single-down swipe for settings panel for swipes on the right side of status bar
Privacy Guard (including Privacy section in settings)
CM File Manager
Advanced Reboot
CM Superuser controls
Double-tap status bar or lockscreen slider to sleep
Notification light controls (including custom lights for individual apps)
Codec enhancements
Option not to have the screen wake on plug
ADB over network
Voice wakeup
Lots of CM app Material design changes
Requirements:

Thanks for the build! Can you maybe say if it will be possible to dirty flash new builds? (Maybe with only flashing SuperSU afterwards) That‘d be nice.
Tapagetalkt via Nameless 2.0 vom i9300
I dirty flashed it over AOSP at first and it was fine, YMMV.

Also, I didn't try NOT flashing GAPPS, so you might need to flash those, too.

Clear caches, wipe, and try flashing again. If that doesn't do it, I'll see what I can do in the morning.
Lots of stuff is getting merged now, thus a lot of stuff is going to be broken for a few weeks.

I always wipe cache and data. I don't ever "dirty flash". Bootloader is the latest and so is TWRP.
---------- Post added at 08:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:56 PM ----------
Wait for it. Turns out I just need to do the same thing over and over again until it worked. I flashed no less than 5 times. Weird.

You did very well for your first ROM post.
Features are starting to pile up. Not enough to make me switch to CM12 on my Nexus 5, but it's getting there.

Thanks for this. You are right, not a lot of features yet, but interesting. I am trying it out now on my Nexus 7. The advanced reboot menu made it worth looking at for me. I know that I can do that with an external app, but this is a bit cleaner. I will have to see if I can live without the stock launcher though. I am running Nova on the N7.
Any alternate Kernel for cm 12?

I don't see it, either. It's usually enabled in the developer options and it isn't there.

Well, I don't see it either. I read somewhere that it is supposed to be there. You are correct that it should be in Developer Options, but it isn't. Oh well.
First of all, I would like to say: what a great ROM!! But on the Google now launcher is there any way I can make the search bar appear on the top when in landscape mode, rather than the transparent version off the the left/right?
Thanks.

[Mod] Surround Sound [Mod]

Sprint Note 5 (SM-N920P) Surround Sound MOD
This mod was created from the new MM update which I got from @tdunham's stock deodexed rom. Please don't ask if it will work on anything else as its specifically made for the Sprint Note 5. If you would like you can post your mixer_paths.xml and mixer_gains.xmlfiles, and as free time allows I will make the necessary changes for your variant or phone.
VIPER- From my personal experience the Loud version of this mod may give you some issues such as more noise, crackling, etc. if using with Viper or other sound boosting mods and apps... I would stick to the Stock, or Medium.
This mod will activate your handset speaker to be on at the same time as the main speaker creating a surround sound type effect while watching videos, you tube, playing music, etc...
PREREQUISITES
Rooted Sprint Galaxy Note 5
DISCLAIMER
I am not responsible in any way for anything that happens to your device whether manually installing the files or flashing zip files for the surround sound mod. You do so at your own risk. I have tested this on my phone and it works great. Enjoy.
INSTALLATION
You can install this two ways your choice.
1. Download and flash the included zip using your custom recovery. To go back to stock download and flash the revert to stock zip included.
2. Download the zip. Extract the two files in the zip (mixer_paths.xml and mixer_gains.xml). In System/Etc, rename those same files with a .bak so that you will have them if you want to revert back to stock. Place the two .xml files from the zip in the same System/Etc folder, fix permissions and reboot.

I'll try to help you the best i can but if you fkashed the revert to stock zip, it replaced any modded files you installed with my mod, with the stock files.
In my experience the only time I've seen the incall reboot bug on the N5 is when you flash a modded kernel whether it be a stock modded kernel for root or a kernel with tons of options.
Im not positive ill take a look in a min, but see if @UpInTheAir has a Skyhigh kernel for your variant. He is one of the best kernel devs for the N5 and i know he has the incall reboot bug squashed for the Tmo variant.
1. Are you on Marshmallow?
2. How did you root?
I am on marshmallow and i installed twrp through odin an installed supersu 2.71

Honestly i donno what else to tell you...if someone else in here reports the same problem then i can see it being this mod...anyway ill take a look at the files make sure everything is as it should be...dirty flash your rom and that will replace all mods and leave you stock. If it still reboots, theres an issue elsewhere...are you using xposed?
