Working ICS Roms if you want your Inspire 4G right on service after Rooting !! - HTC Inspire 4G

A good Inspire 4G Rom is [ROM][AUG 23][ICS 4.0.4] aospX 1.0.0-BR7 | IMM76L | Source | WIP
You can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460820
I'm using and testing this ROM since beta release 2 (BR2). There where some minor problems and a lot of battery drain.
After BR6 that ROM became better than stock roms Gingerbread 2.3.5, so anyone can switch and be satisfied.
Everything is working perfect except FM Radio. Even with SPIRIT UL and ICS Plus settings in audio method (as we read) is not ok. Actually plays for 2 seconds and then freezes. Also this freeze causes problem to device sounds generally and needs a restart to work again.
If you don't mind about FM Radio, is the ROM for you.
Another good ROM is: [ROM]31-08-2012 | IceColdSandwich - 8.6.1 - AOKP | THE RESURRECTION BEFORE DEATH
you go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450962&page=1367
This ROM has more settings and launchers included and is more suitable for advanced users. I switched from aospX BR7 because of the FM Radio problem with SPIRIT UL since FM radio is a must for me. This rom is not exactly for Inspire 4G, actually is for Desire HD, but since those two devices are identical (except internal memory size and some other stuff) this rom is working great. FM Radio working for Inspire 4G with SPIRIT UL and ICS PLUS method in settings. The only downfall of this ROM is the camera video recorder that is not working. Sometimes shows the animation correctly and saving the video file, but is not working video file, is corrupted. Camera photo shoots is ok with fair focus.
So, if you have FM Radio reception as a must, this is the ROM for you, and then you have to live without camera video recording.
I wish there is a way to merge those two codes so we have a full working ICS Rom for Inspire 4G.
This is my experience while testing ICS Roms for Inspire 4G. If someone found a rom or another way to have a full functional ICS Rom for Inspire 4G including FM please post.

[ROM][DEV][WIP] ACEvo GB - Desire HD/S Gingerbread Port (2.3.3 & 2.3.2 w/ Sense 2.1)
Porting of the Gingerbread sense ROMs seems to be slow to take off so I am resurrecting ACEvo to help get the ball rolling. I'll do my best to keep this updated and to continue working on it but I don't have as much time as I would like to have to devote to it. This ROM will stay completely stock to make it easier to use as a base ROM.
Feel free to use this however you would like, all I ask is that if you fix something you share so everyone can have a fully functional base to build from. If you plan on porting this to other devices please link back to this thread.
Source code for the Desire S can be found at: http://developer.htc.com
If you are looking for a ROM to use as a daily TMartin03 posted a mostly functional DesireS port here. A quick overview of it is available here.
2.3.2 International Version
This one is actually a Desire S port but the interface is the same. Credit for the original port goes to abhi0n0nakul in the Nexus One forums and everyone who helped him get it up and going, it already had working hardware acceleration so there was no sense in spending time on the DHD ports. You can find his thread here.

2.3.3 Chinese Version
For some reason .2 (and maybe .3) tends to sit at the splash screen for a few minutes on the first boot, just give it time to finish loading everything and it'll come up. Afterward it only takes a few seconds to boot.
Sound is working thanks to Honentan and the makers of OMGB ROM, gfx are still in the works though.
As of .3 I added the depends command to find out what libraries link to. You can use it through a shell with 'depends <lib name>'

[Q] Help picking a ROM

I'm looking for a good custom Rom for my htc sensation . I have root access via revolutionary and can flash using clockworkmod recovery.
I tried Revolution HD but only got error messages.
I ned a custom rom that will
1st be smooth and stable with all features working
2nd Improve battery life
3rd Improve overall performance
I Don't need to have a rom with Sense, but would like to keep the ability to see new messages on the lock screen. None of the other lock screen features are that important to me . I also like having the ability to link contacts to facebook contacts. These are the only sense features I need to keep so if they are available on a non sense rom I'd be open to try it.
All suggestions are helpful and welcome.
Thank you
It is very subjective and all ROMs will meet what you ask for compared to stock...
really you need to do your research..all ROMs are here in each thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1112
I use ARHD and am very happy with it but its up to you...Gingerbread...beta ICS...custom.
I suggest try a few - once you have changed a few times process becomes painless. Also titanium backup (for apps only) helps - but keep a nandroid backup of your current rooted ROM so u can always get back to where you are now.
Really its research research on XDA and trail an error....
I have tried all these Roms on XDA for the sensation that have been released in the last 4 or 5 months.
I have to say the Energy Rom sounds like what your looking for. NRGZ28 is not running ICS on his latest release, I believe because there's to many issues
NRGZ28's Energy is always my main Rom because of the stability.

Had my sensation xe for a couple of wks now and had tried out a few roms, so far I like ELEGANCIA GB rom the best, it's stable, everything is working, and their skins team is amazing, looks darn good. Battery life is dependent on too many factors (usage, radio, kernels, etc).
rom:

Now I'm confused about which radio firmware to use. I have a z710 model which works with att 3 and 4 g bands while remaining on an unlimited non smartphone plan. Would changing radio firmware effect this in any way? Since each rom comes with a radio wouldn't this be a determining factor?

Your radio will just adjust how well you communicate with the towers. It is just the hardware broadcasting interface as well as the RILs (Radio Interface Layer) which tells your phone how to communicate from the hardware to the radio.
So it will not affect your plan at all.

[Q] What are some good roms for my needs?

Hey, I've been away from the xda scene for a while, I currently using break 2.3.4(I don't remember what rom) so, what current roms are good for a T-Mobile Sensation 4G
What I need:
Wi-Fi calling must work and be stable, I live in an area will very poor service.
Needs to be smooth and stable
Preferably ICS( I know I need to flash firmware so If you could tell me which one that would be great, along with the radio)
Battery life is very important.
I usually just flash a couple roms and see what works best, but there's just to many anymore so some guidance would be greatly appreciated!
The best one that I have tried is this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663665
This is the Elegancia rom (Android 4, Sense 3.6) that has Beats Audio, WiFi Calling & Bluetooth Dialing Working.
I cant stress how many ROMs I tried but none of them seemed to be able to make WiFi Calling & Bluetooth Dialing work together. It was always one or the other. This is the Only ROM I have tried that had both working perfectly.
I also run the Faux kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216197) and find exceptional battery life, CPU runs much cooler, and clocked at 1.73 GHz.
Thanks! I'll be sure to try it out!
Also to clarify, there are a few different Elegancia ROMs that work with the phone. I have tested them all and on the TMOUS 4G, they dont all work as well. The one I linked to was based off of the Official TMobile release whereas the other ones are based off of the European release.
Follow up...
So I spoke too soon... Looks like the programming that TMobile uses to monitor WiFi Hotspot use is still in place on the TMobile version of the Elegancia ROM.
MAJOR bummer.

I think it'll happen on each Rom since it checks the user agent string from your browser since its sent through the network. If you really want hotspot then use a third party app
Sent from my sensational sensation 4g
Virtuous inquisition for me. haven't had any issues. Elegancia would be my go to were it not for that hideous blue stock color and cheesy icons. If you can deal with that then go for those roms assuming you're into sense
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
I use HyperNonSense 2.7. Just have to add wi-fi calling from one of the addon packs. It works just fine for me. I have not tried using the hotspot function, so I can't comment on that. However, with this rom and Bricked 1.1 kernel, I get great battery life with a stable and streamlined rom. Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but good luck in your search for the combination that works for you.
ARHD is working perfectly for me.
Try Ordroid 7.1.1, its stabel and wifi hotspot app works. Also wifi calling works flawlessly... I get great battery use as well...
Give us some more info, are into Sense, AOSP. I've run just about every ROM currently available. I've started a battery test thread, it's in my sig. Just to give people an idea.
If you want Sense 4 - OrDroid is a great ROM.
If you want Sense 3.6 - Elegancia Phoenix if you like strongly themed. LeeDroid has great performance. ARHD if you prefer a stock look but strongly modded for performance.
If you want AOSP - I haven't run many because I am spoiled with HTCs keyboard, but OpenSensation, HyperNonSense. If you want strongly themed, AOKP Eye Candy.
If you like AOSP but prefer to keep the HTC Framework, SmartDroid Lilith or Virtuous Inquisition (I think this is a Sense base.)
And then if you like AOSP but like the performance of a Sense ROM, you can go with Shniz's ICS Theme located in 'Themes and Apps'.
For Wi-Fi calling you can install the latest TMoUS working. There is a thread for it. For the Wi-Fi Hotspot - there is a working third party app.
And of course, there are many kernels available - once you find a ROM you like, I say give a few a try and decide which you like best.
All the above is my opinion.
It stills comes down to user preference. You'll just have to give a few a try and determine which one you prefer.
Sense 4 ROMs are all ports from the HTC One series so expect some bugs. But if you want one, go Ordroid. That ROM is heavily maintained and fixed on.
ARHD is as stock as you can find them. But its mostly the structure of the ROM that is modified, not the appearance.
But you need WIFI calling.. Try ARHD.
Just try a few dozen roms yourself, then you can get the real picture! Happy Flashing

FULLY WORKING!!! [4.0.4][Sense 3.6] On Inspire 4g

I just saw this http://www.phonearena.com/news/ROM-brings-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-to-HTC-Desire-HD_id33380 from PhoneArena and it looks like this ROM is fully supported for the Inspire 4g. My wife won't let me flash any more ICS roms on her Inspire any more and wants to keep the latest stock debloated GB rom from AT&T since it's stable and fast. I was wondering if anyone had tried this rom or know of a better more stable ICS&Sense rom to try to convince to let me flash on it for her.
Here is the XDA link from PhoneArena http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531218
I would suggest that you read the last half of the posted pages, then make a decision, if you will look on the DHD forums, there are a few Sense 4 ROMS with most things working, all have a few bugs right now. It is just a matter of if you can live with a few quirks and update your phone as they get things fixed.
It's for his wife. It is best not to flash any ICS roms for now. Wait between two to four weeks if you want an ICS sense rom or the JB roms. There will be bugs and she is not going to be happy, they never are.
My assumption is that by then the ICS/Jb roms should have a minimal of bugs.
In the meantime read through the threads and check what you would like. I doubt she will show any interest for now.

Thanks

Thank you, I have been reading the dev threads in the Inspire section and havn't seen many that are as stable as the one I saw on phone arena, I didn't know that the desire HD roms would work on the inspire 4g thought the Inspire had updated hardware on it, there seems to be a lot more ICS sense roms on the desire HD thread I wonder if they all work and how stable they are on the Inspire 4g. It would be easier if my wife would let me flash them to try them out but the 1st ICS rom I flashed had alot of things broken and were buggy and she got mad at me. Any info on a good stable ICS sense rom for inspire 4g would be great thanks again.
PS if the desire hd ICS sense roms work on the Inspire 4g why aren't they posted in Inspire threads?

Separate devices, separate threads. Every now and then they do post a rom in both threads.
Regarding the Roms over the dhd thread and compatibility - most of them come with the required files for them to work on the Inspire, or they would link what else needs to be flashed in the OP (Original Post - First Page), as some also do over here in the Inspire section. However, there is one rom that was released today (can't remember the name of it) which the sound (I believe it was the sound) won't work on the inspire. The menu button doesn't work on either of the devices, the inspire and dhd.
Regarding blackout, can't remember what the bugs were/are, but if you are not familiar with flashing I would stay clear from that one for a while. It needs to be flashed a certain way, quite easy - simply it consists of doing the full wipe within the aroma installer, when it finishes choose "no" when it prompts you to reboot - do a manual reboot and should work. And do not download from dev host.
The latest release from randomblame - B14, has sound issues. A previous version may work but I can't recall what bugs the other ones have. Same issue goes for - I believe it's B4 of the AOPK version.
There is one with wifi issues. Can't remember which one.
Those are the ones I remember from the top of my head and I haven't flashed any of those in a while. I just read silently, waiting for the bug reports to lessen.
I've been using several versions of the latest official Sense 3.0 release for our phone (which you can find in this thread) since it came out. I haven't tested any ICS/JB rom for a while. However, I did flash Existz BR6 today, and for the way I use my phone - it works without any issues. I link my google contacts, do the facebook sync to show with my phone contacts, whatsapp and the xda app and wifi, that's it. I received a call, it sounded good. It's fast, responsive, haven't been able to check battery life - but it's bound to be good. I did run BR5Test2 for a week or two, and for me to keep a rom that long it has to be either bug less or with a minimum of bugs. And that is, working out of the box since I still haven't learned how to play around with a rom to fix this or that.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I had the same issues with my girlfriend, and other members with their women. They will never be happy.
Edit: existz mentioned a bug regarding the keyboard keys sticking/lagging every now and then. I haven't experienced it yet, but the easiest fix - paraphrasing existz, is to lock and unlock the screen.
Just read the first couple and last 10-20 pages to have an idea about a rom.
Most of the bugs mentioned may and probably be ironed out with the next release.

I've been running Existz ICS ROM pretty much since it's inception (the Inspire is a secondary device for me) and it's done nothing but get better. I want to try the new Sense 3.0 roms, and the ICS/Sense roms once they are more stable, but I just can't let go of stock ICS.
I've experienced the keyboard bug, and it's annoying, but everything you type does appear even if you experience the bug.
ICS does have a few issues, but I'd like to point out that I'm using blackout and I haven't encountered any bugs yet :good:
I forget if bluetooth (after disabling it would cause phone problems or something) was fixed or not, same with wifi hotspot (after turning on wifi hotspot you would have to reboot to use normal wifi), but I don't use either so I haven't noticed it
Aroma installer seems to be causing some issues, you'll have to mess around with some settings to get everything to work well. A bad flash will have no boot image, just a black screen. A good flash will get you Blackout's boot image.
But otherwise it feels very snappy and fast, everything runs well and I'd say that it's pretty much the same stability of most sense 3.5/GB ROMs. Actually, I think it's a little smoother than Energy.
Following that XxxPachaxxX's Nero XL(3.6) has the second least amount of bugs (although with a big gap between Blackout), and a bit farther away is Virtuous a3 (4.0A). There are two more ROMs out (last I checked) that are just completely incompatible for I4g, but from comments seems to be just as stable as Blackout :/
Although I think in a month's time Sense and ICS will be just as stable as Sense and GB.
I've been using Blackout ROM with ICS and Sense 3.6 and it runs really great. I will keep it until a stable ICS with Sense 4.0 comes out there. I've seen a couple of them, but I normally read they have issues with camera/hotspot/etc. I had a non-sense ICS ROM but I really missed sense.
don't give up on ICS, go IceCold

I've tried the Blackout ROM, so far everything is fine except for the WiFi, it's been very flaky on my phone. It's constantly telling me that the wireless network in my home is out of range, when I'm 10 feet from the router. Rather annoying... but it works other than that.

Yes I've read good things about that ROM but alas it is AOSP without sense and not what we are looking for now if a port of Sense 3.6,4a,or 4.0 were put on there that would be what we need
I'm going to try later tonight, but wanted to ask just to avoid any obvious problems. When I flash Blackout will I need to flash any type of Inspire MOD like for existz's ICS AOSP build? Any other tips or tricks I should know about before I take the plunge?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure since she still won't let me flash on her phone waiting til ICS sense roms a lil more stable I would PM andrews317 since he has been using for a lil bit now
When you flash blackout the aroma installer already has the inspire mods in it so you don't have to worry about the mod pack

CyanogenMod Rom problems

cyanogenmod team has been developing the best and most stable Roms since rooting, they do the best in making them bug free but Roms cant replace Stock that is nearly perfect
- the stock camera app that works and takes pretty good pictures/videos whereas the camera app on cyanogenmod 10 or below takes nasty pictures, design/interface is crappy but overall it works
- Data/mobile network connection is worse than when am running android stock, because am always gettin EDGE (2G) speeds, sometimes gettin nothin and i get mobile network disconnected, APN is fcked up, it doesnt load up web pages/download apps since its fcking slow plus 3G/4G comes back when am at the city and there is a good connection (EDGE)/2G/nothing comes along when i hit the country side.
fix it, iknow there are other ROMs that i can use but Cyanogemod is close enough to be classified as GOOD AS STOCK CAN BE
other problems lies on the Rom but this are the only important/relevant one i could find
i believe in their hardwork to give the consumer the best/most stable ROMS/FIRMWARE but there are things to be fixed like the two i stated above
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 I747 on stock jelly bean (4.1.1)
thanks
Not sure if this is relevant to you as my phone is a HTC Desire HD, but I had network problems on my DHD running CyanogenMod 10.1 Unofficial until I flashed the latest radio.
Turns out there were compatibility issues with the older radio firmware.
