Hehe - miui lockscreen is essentially done, just need to tinker a little. Either tonight or tomorrow I'll post what is done (which means essentially all of tsm parts will be finished at least).

Well I got distracted with some delayed secure lockscreen stuff... but I finally posted. There's already a list of little things I need to attend to - but let me know if any others creep up!

Great job man!
11 Lockscreens! WTF! You are cray man, and they work flawlessly,
Great job, putting ROm to test.
BTW New tweaked is out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836887

I see you changed boot animation. Does that mean there is a different kernel being flashed now?
Amazing update will Nan my dark knight and flash to try this out soon! Thanks

Yep. I always recommend a data wipe, but it should (emphasis on should) be fine to just flash over. I would wipe dalvik/cache at least though.

Nice job with the rom, looks great and runs great.

Lol - well doesn't that figure... I switched over to SuperSU to avoid those things, but it seems it is not impervious to issues either. Is anyone else having root issues? Is there any pattern to it that can be noticed (i.e. what was done leading up to when you noticed root issues were occuring)? What apps are having issues? To anyone having an issue (and that has terminal emulator installed or is adb-capable) would you mind telling me what the output of the following command is?
ls -l /system/xbin/su
If running adb to get this, make sure usb debugging is enabled and add an adb shell to the beginning of the above line, making it
adb shell ls -l /system/xbin/su
I have yet to experience root issues, but really it's my wife's phone and she rarely does anything requiring root privileges.

Superuser won't upgrade? How were you trying to upgrade? Apologies if I am misinterpreting what you are saying here, but I didn't realize there was an update for it - to me it looks like v0.96 is the most recent version, and that's what was included in the rom. Have you tried wiping app data for superuser? I didn't encounter any issues, but I data wiped before flashing the newest tweaked iteration - so since that worked for me my gut says wiping data in superuser should do the trick.

when i open su it says there is a binary update available and the only option is to cancel or update, cancel closes su, and update takes about a minute, then you get a message that update failed and su stays open, but it fc's when you try to select any of its menus...
play store shows an upate for super user but it has the same results

the ls -l /system/xbin/su errors with no such file or directory, browsing thru es file explorer shows that there is no su in the xbil folder... the apps that want su privilege still have it, just the notification isnt there, and the su app dont work.
clearing app data didnt fix... everything else works beautifully.

I running the rom and have all of apps restored. Any apps that required SU rights were granted permission, pop up box appeared asking if I wanted to grant or deny these rights.
The rom seems to be working properly, quick and responsive.
I wiped data / factory reset and wiped cache before flashing. Nice job
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda app-developers app

my only issue is within that app. new apps are granted root without prompt...
i only checked because of someone pointing out a su issue...
ive been using tweaked an my dd for a long time now and i love it.. i might try a clean wipe install but it works fine for me as it is... just trying to help out.

Wow - that is odd. There most definitely should be an su file in /system/xbin. What about ls -l /system/bin/su? I'm beginning to think a data wipe will be needed... mostly stemming from the fact that 1.0d used Superuser/su and 1.5 uses SuperSu.

that gives this:
-rwsr-sr-x root system 22364 2012-09-11 06:31 su

Best Way To Use TiBu Before Flashing...

I have TiBu Pro, and I know how to batch, but I've run into problems before when flashing a new rom (even starting from stock), that once the new rom is live I get tons of force close issues.
After a lot of trial and error, I figured out it was TiBu. I've deleted my whole apps, reinstalled one by one, and now have a fresh system.
What's the best way to backup apps using TiBu to avoid issues with performance and force closes after flashing a new rom?
I really appreciate you help. Thanks!

After you flash a new rom and you restore via TIBU, are you installing "app" only or app and data....?
I never restore data...I only restore app only...and have not had any issues with FC or problems with any of the apps or paid apps....

Yes sir, I do...I use the one click from Qkster to get a good clean plate...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
He also has wipe scripts that I use also, between the one click or install of ROM...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561463
Whats funny I am doing it now as I read and reply to your questions, and actually formatted my SD and ext cards...had to clean up been awhile, because I am putting the latest of Aeon on my Infuse ver1.3....
Might be over kill, but it is 99.9 percent clean prior to installing a new ROM, btw I flash few times a week, but my DD is AEON...
and I never install data on a restore for TIBU, always apps only....
Hope it helps...
Do you do a factory reset from the settings menu in the ROM before flashing? I believe this its the key, and I'm not sure doing a factory reset in cwm is the same thing. You can do this once you have used qkster one click to stock to clear all the issues.

Actually follow the op on the ROM your are trying to install...to answer your question...if it still stands...NO
doing a the wip/factory within CWM is best...will kill all your data, but will not format your internal SD card...
By using qkster one click, it will kill and wipe all taking it back to stock, take a read of his op...see my signature block below...
I'm a newb at this. Never bought any apps before always just used free versions. But if I purchase an app from the market. And let's say I forgot to back it up and I flash a new rom. Would I have to purchase said app again or will the market recognize it as I had already purchased it and I can just download it again?

it would be much easier if you used a PC, but if you don't have access to one then try this:
*Edited instructions so that you won't have to use ROM Manager and have them all in one single post*
1) Root your device with this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
2) Install 3e modded recovery as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y09p-J_g_Rg
-just copy recovery file to /bin using Solid Explorer or ES File Explorer (both free).. skip the ROM Manager part.
3) Install cwm by using method 1 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107881
from this point, you should be ready to flash custom roms through recovery. I would recommend jumping from versions one at a time (froyo -> GB -> ICS) just to avoid any errors.
Be aware that flashing ICS will leave you with a rainbow recovery since you won't have gingerbread bootloaders, which can only be flashed from download mode.
Hope I was able to help you! PM if you have any doubts
I advise to look at the Super ISET page by our own bigjoe as opposed to using ROM Manager. This is due to the fact that ROM manager bricks infuses a lot.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Did you already do step 1? There's where you root your phone. Without root you don't have write access to /bin which explains the error when you try to paste.
Edit: be sure to follow the instructions on my 1st post (post #2 of this thread). I edited those to guide you through complete process to acquire root & cwm without using Rom Manager

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
That's bad news :/ well that means you are gonna need to find a Pc to root it and then you can move on with the rest.
If you do get access to a Pc, consider using Odin which would allow you to jump to a GB + rooted + cwm + gb bootloaders all in one flash.. that would save you some time and get rid of rainbows if you move on to ICS
Sent from my sweet and buttery Infuse

[P999][ICS][App][Modded] ICS Browser - fixed rotation issues

Modded ICS Browser
- fixed rotation issues and flickering -
I was terribly annoyed by the rotation issues and crashes of the default ICS Browser.
Turning the phone from landscape to portrait crashed or at least flickered the Browser.
Well.. not anymore!
I tried lots of things over the past few weeks, both in my ICS ROM and in the Browser itself but all of them failed - until today.
So here I present... a modded ICS Browser.apk with fixed rotations:
For users:
Download here: Browser-rotationfixed-tonyp-v2.zip
For odexed ROMs you need this version:
Download odexed version: Browser-rotationfixed-odexed-tonyp-v2.zip
It's a flashable zip, you can simply install it via CWM.
Or extract the Browser.apk and do it manually.
Note that this breaks Flash videos within the browser as that relies on hwa.
For developers:
To build a browser with working rotation it should be enough to to use the following line for this particular app within the Manifest.
Code:
<application android:label="@string/application_name" android:icon="@mipmap/ic_launcher_browser" android:name="Browser" android:taskAffinity="android.task.browser" android:backupAgent=".BrowserBackupAgent" [B]android:hardwareAccelerated="false"[/B]>
Reference: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/graphics/hardware-accel.html
I gladly share this with everyone, but would like to get at least mentioned at the Credits.
It's no allmighty ueber super hacker tweak - but I debugged it for quite some time to find the culprit.
Keep in mind that we lived with a broken browser for 8 month until I were able to find this solution!

Working perfectly on HFS1.9, I can not explain to you how happy this makes me lol.
Thank you

Try a clean install and flash this right after that. Make sure you fix permissions after flashing this and that should work

I got it working on domination. What I did was solid explorer (or a root browser of your choice) after flashing the zip and went into system app and change the browser permissions to rw-r-r because I saw that they were different from the other system apps then I rebooted. I then went back into system app and installed the apk right there just select the browser apk like you were side loading it and enjoy flicker free browsing

Yea I got that error also I extracted the zip and reinstalled the apk that seemed to fix it but the flash issue is still there. I'll try to decompile the tonys apk and the normal apk to compare them and see what changes were made and see if I can find out why flash breaks but I'll do it tomorrow if I have the time. Right now I can only recommend that you use a 3rd party browser or restore a nandroid or titanium backup or something like that to get back the stock browser

Just need to get flash working somehow.... will be waiting for your response tomorrow

Edit: I was just wondering is the flash problem only rom specific or if any of you guys using other roms have their flash broken too?

must be your rom mines work. im runnin eb ics
I just created a second flashable zip which does set the permissions correctly this time.
The updater-script had set -rwxr-xr-x instead of -rw-r--r--, sorry for that.
If it's working for you there's no real need to reflash v2 on top.
Someone here posted that correcting the permissions made it work for him.
I don't really know if permissions do matter here - I never set any permissions to the files I push to /system/app and never had any problems due to that.
Link is in the OP.
FYI: v1 has been downloaded 230 times.
Thanks to the 2 donators!
As always: If you include your nick in the custom Paypal message (or send me a PM) I will add it into my "thanks" list at the PA ROM thread (even if you're not using that, I can't handle multiple lists ).
Amazing. Works great on EB AOSP 4.0.4. Thanks

Oh.. NickHu just pointed out to me that owain has odexed his newest build. Then simply replacing the Browser.apk won't work of course.
There's an odexed version in the OP for odexed ROMs now as well (like owains Domination). :good:

What you have to do is unroot and go back to stock to get the new update.

update contains?
someone please tell what this 44mb ota update that became available this morning entails.
any way for someone with twrp recovery to install this ota since twrp interupts the update? through kies? or, any way to install the factory recovery back after having installed the twrp recovery?
If it's only 44MB, it's sure as hell not JB, so I wouldn't worry about that.
You can always get the stock recovery back by using ODIN to restore back to stock if you really want to see what the update is.
If you search, I'm sure you'd find out what is. I know its been posted already. All I can remember for sure is the new baseband.

i just found one stock recovery tar and will flash it using odin ( it is from an old post, july of this year ) and at the download link for the stock recovery tar md5 file it said it was not tested - so not certain if it is safe to not brick. stock recovery tar md5 for skyrocket is hard to find. that is what sucks, once you load a custom recovery, hope it is possible to get back to stock recovery.
thank you.

it ensures you have all the att apps and seems to be a new radio ( which is the part i would like to try, maybe it will use less battery power and/or get better coverage connectivity to lte cell towers )
Don't want any updates
I don't want the update. Anyone know if there's a way to avoid the nag screens from the carrier? Or if they will eventually just go away on their own?

root the device, they'll go away.
But I'm not aware of getting rid of the prompts on stock. Maybe accept it and do not let it complete the update download?

It is rooted...so from what I've been reading it won't actually be updated. But I don't want to be faced with nag screens from now till I buy a different phone either.

How?
I let it download, and then because I'm rooted it failed as expected, which is fine because I don't want the update anyway. I just rebooted and it seems to have stopped the nagging.
Anyone know how to turn off device management? Or to where the pkg was copied so that I can rename it?
Thanks

Wish I had known to do that before I let it download.
Any idea where the update was saved to, and what it is named? I'd like to get rid of it.
I can't remember where it saves to. Maybe you can find it with root explorer.

[ROM] [1/2/2014] Stock Rooted ROM - D80110g

There was no ROM for the new update so I tried my hand at it. It's rooted and has busybox.
Credits/Acknowledgments:
Scrosler (I used his updater script)
Hyelton for the kdz
Bullghost for making a kickass kdz extractor
When flashing it takes a while at formatting so don't freak out. Make sure to wipe Dalvik and Cache after you flash.
Not responsible for anything! Use at your own risk!
NO REQUESTS! I'M NOT GOING TO DEODEX, DEBLOAT, OR INVERT APPS, ETC... PLEASE DON'T ASK
Pay no mind to icons, there are ones I made for myself, the ROM is stock.

I was doing this from my desktop PC, originally with IE and was told I was outdated. So, I tried Chrome, was told I was outdated (IE was intentionally outdated as I do not like subsequent versions, but Chrome is up to date).
Each option required updating, and when I hovered over one of the suggested browsers, "download" appeared, and when clicked, I was brought to the browsers' update pages.
I saw no "close" to choose (unless you were talking about mobile version), and closing a PC browser's window did not result in the start of a download.
There is not anything (that I can think of, at the moment), that is worth going through hoops for. I still have my Tytung ROM-based HTC HD2, now at 4.4.2 if I need an fix update. I can wait on the G2, as I am pretty pleased with it (D80110c) out of the box, after rooting it. Will wait for LG's KitKat, as I am, so far, underwhelmed by existing KitKat releases so far.
It could be that LG simply did a great job on their own...

is this update not coming via OTA if you're rooted??
Is it only for store-bought black G2s? I ordered my white one from T-Mobile over the phone.
my software info is currently
android 4.2.2
baseband M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190034
kernel 3.4.0
build JDQ39B
software D80110c
I have TWRP custom recovery installed also, did that possibly prevent me from receiving an OTA update?

You're right, it doesn't boot at all. Goes straight back to TWRP everytime. Clean install here too. System, data, and cache wipe.

Try wiping data only after the install.
And to answer the other guys question, this isnt a OTA, its a release that LG did via the update tool. Kind of like what Samsung did with the tmobile s2 and 4.1.

Sorry yes... I did say I was using Firefox.
It pops up to install the "Mega Firefox extension"... I clicked close and the DL went on without issue.
After the DL reached 100%, the norm save file window popped up to save where I'll like.

Doesn't sound like hoops to me (I have Firefox, too). Worth a try, I suppose, but I might choose to wait anyway, what, with all the posts about not getting beyond TWRP. Thanks, fishman.
Booted fine for me, restore your backup and flash over but do not wipe system/data, only Dalvik/cache.
I'll mirror this somewhere for people having issues...
