Since im thinking about buying a 7 ich tablet, i have to decide between gtab 7 plus, gtab 2 7.0 and nexus 7. I will buy a tablet for gaming, so i have 2 or 3 questions.
Do gameloft games work(from play or sideloaded, root/build.prop changes arent a problem for me)? If yes, how smooth are they? If yes, do even the new games work(dark knight rises for example) lagfree?
How many fps do you get on mupen64/n64oid playing a game with a texture pack(if someone could test mario 64 with risios retro pack, i would be supersuperthankful)?
I know, this are many questions, but it would be cool if you can answer some, a chance to get thank clicks ;D
Thanks, transformador
Risio's retro pack works good (castle and first level tested)

Anyone know any good final fantasy type RPGs that work on honeycomb? There is one called Spectral Souls I found in the market but it looks to be in japanese. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have spectral souls, and it's not in japanese:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hyperdevbox.spectralsouls
Also- Check out BattleHeart. It's much less involved than Final Fantasy, and not turn-based, but it's ton's of fun:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.KelliNoda.Battleheart
I suggest you use various emulators for android to play RPG's such as final fantasy. Also as said before battleheart is a decent one, although imo its not really Final Fantasy like.
Like you I've been keeping my eye out for some good RPG's for Honeycomb and haven't found much yet.
Emulators and some of the older ones are awesome but the emulators don't make use of a touch screen (apart from a emulated d-pad) and its the same problem with Spectal souls... I mean they go so far to get a huge tablet RPG but then don't make it fully touch?! You use emulated buttons to navigate around (apart from turning the camera! WOO!)
Battlehearts is pretty cool but a bit simple - awww can't win with me it seems
Would like souls to make use of a full touch screen (i will buy it then) or waiting for something new to come around.

I've been scouring looking for a nice android rpg but find myself in the same situation.
I'll be experimenting with the ps3 controller hooked up to the dock soon and will likely play psone rpgs that I never got around to playing years ago.
I got about 10 hours of enjoyment from battleheart, it was fun.
There's actually not many games at all optimized for honeycomb, but hopefully soon.
Been itching to try Souls but haven't succumbed to the temptation to drop the money for it.

Speaking of RPG's, what about pen and paper RPG support, like dice rollers, mappers, etc.?
Anything good for HC?

if i could get uae4droid to work on the asus i'd be playing some of the KRYNN series from SSI (champions of krynn, etc.). Apparently it's a deep dark secret how to actually get the kickstart to work with the emulator.
I was watching a youtube video of a guy playing on a N64 app but i couldnt make out the name of it. He was pretty far in Ocarina of Time. Any idea which one it is?
N64oid is the best by far. you can get it on the slide me market its about 4$

shhhhh no one needs to know hahaha.
So, how well does the TF101 play N64 games?
All I know is my zte blade manages a blazing 7fps at most, with mupen64 (n64oid doesnt work on armv6... stupid blade...)

Yeah, that stage is a killer for most emulators. It wasnt that many years ago even a PC struggled with that
But sounds good it can play things smoothly (more or less)
Cant wait to get my TF now
I know this thread is originally about Zelda, but Ill just sneak in another question... Does N64oid handle Donkey Kong 64? I know mupen doesnt
DK64 is a ***** to emulate

Yeah, I kinda suspected DK64 wouldnt be playable I remember it even struggled on the N64 itself at some parts hehe.
Hopefully in the future it will be playable on the TF though!
Hopefully my TF will arrive today so I can play around with it myself
N64oid is really awesome, I played mariokart in splitscreen with four friends once.

I should have my TF monday.... Still hasn't shipped yet but im waiting patiently.
I got mine yesterday
Tried mario64 a quicky and it was smooooth....
I liked the controller interface on mupen64 more though, going to give that a try later and see if theres any performance hit.
offtopic: so far Im quite happy with the TF Its quite snappy and the screen hardly ever misses any keypresses.
But... is there no haptic feedback on this thing?

well mine was finally shipped, just gotta wait now. i got the dock/keyboard for it yesterday and im rather impressed with it so far. I dont see the issue people are having with the keys being raised up a little.
90% of all n64 emu's can emulate Mario 64 with ease. its the other games that dont. i was floored zelda and smash bros ran as well as it did. As for conkers bad fur day, this was the first emu it was even playable one.

I played OoT a bit yesterday on both mupen and 'oid, and yea, 'oid does indeed run it smoother (cleared deku tree, <3 the FF on the 30min cutscenes )
But I miss some graphical settings . Jet Force got a shadow bug causing the screen to flicker all the time, while mupen plays it just fine (it has other issues though^^).
Its obvious you need both emus to get the most out of N64 emulation at the moment.
Im thinking about buying a galaxy tab 7.0 and im comparing it to the nexus 7. So i have to ask 2 questions:
How many fps do you get playing mario/ an other game with mupen64 and texture pack(if someone could test mario 64 with risios retro pack,(or any other game XDD) i would be supersupersupersuper thanksful),
And my secound question is: can i play all gameloft games lagfree(with or without build.prop esit) , are the games officially compatible through playstore (if not, is there a way to show all apps in market(build.prop edit or any other method, im used to android hacking XD)?)
sorry for opening a new thread for a device i dont own, thanks, transformador.

answer to second question is no.tab 2 do not support all gameloft games.some of supported are six guns, tetris and few more...but most game works if simply sideloaded like asphalt 6,7 etc...
They are super smooth.six guns lags a bit.
And for your 1st ques i will test wait...
Thanks
A little nearer to a galaxy tab XD
would be great if you could test that
Does anyone know the gpu(not cpu) clock speed?

Anybody has any suggestion for some good RPG games for the Infinity?
Hopefully, some that would utilize well the good screen resolution of the tablet
I know there's a separate thread for games but I guess RPG gamers out there would appreciate the filter
Thanks a lot ^_^
There's an old buggy port of Baldur's Gate for Android and there's a proper tablet version coming soon, for what it's worth...
I believe you'll find more Diablo-like games (Heroes Call, for example) than proper RPGs which seem to be getting out of fashion, but I'm waiting for some hints here as well, perhaps someone knows something (HD) tablet-optimised.

It's a bit pricey but Square did a good job remaking Final Fantasy 2. It's not out of this world on the graphics but its still fun. Look up some youtube videos of the game play.
One more vote for Final Fantasy III, the game looks amazing on the infinity and the controls are well thought out.
If you're a fan of JRPGS (turn based selection combat) then any of the games by KEMCO are good. The story may not be as epic as chrono trigger, but it gets the job done lol
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...lution+Co.,+Ltd.)#?t=W251bGwsbnVsbCxudWxsLDNd
Finally you can also play all the old RPGS with an SNES emulator, I suggest https://play.google.com/store/apps/...vbS5idWJibGV6YXBnYW1lcy5zdXBlcmduZXNfbGl0ZSJd
I've been playing all the fan translated rpgs that were released in Japan but not for the US like suikoden 3!
are these turn based?
got that final fantasy III game and i must say that it definitely is awesome... they actually did a lot of change in the graphics compared to the original one...
i wonder what else is out there for our infinity? I just downloaded Horn and so far it looks great... but im actually looking for some more Japanese RPG games similar to final fantasy... any other suggestion?

I just noticed DosBox Turbo is available. OH MAN. I wonder if I can get Master of Magic and some other great classics running in it! That really opens up the possibilities!!
I'm crossing my fingers for Gameloft to properly port Order and Chaos to the infinity.
The game was sweet on my Galaxy Nexus, so I wonder how it will be on this baby!

If the you have the snes emulator and a good source of roms, see if they have 7th saga. That was pretty neat growing up. It had about 4 or 5 main characters to play as with different story lines.
While waiting for O&C, check out Iruna Online. I think the company is still working on an official final release but it is promising. You have your group online game play etc. Makes you wonder what Gameloft is doing when a much smaller company can release a beta version of their online game that is compatible with our TF700.
Also if you like old school Baulder's Gate style RPGS I have to recommend Avadon: The Black Fortress

bards tale
the bards tale like the olders versions on mac and ps, the hd version is 3.5gig but its worth it. :good:
Haven't purchased myself yet but Spectral Souls (if you are into Japanese SRPG) has relatively high rating among Japanese community.

looking for those types......................
For turn based I rate the following :
Call of Cthulhu : Wasted Land
Xenowar
The first is a seriously brilliant horror rpg based in H P Lovecraft's world and during the first world war.
The second is a very good remake of X-Com Enemy Unknown.
bringing this back up as Bard's Tale isnt jiving real well with JB for me. Even in performance mode, when you run into several enemies the game slows to a crawl and eventually force closes.
Anyone else having this issue or have a solution?

I bought Bard's Tale HD version (3,5GB) but the performace during the game is really low. I must change Performance mode to MEDIUM ( Infinity actually is the the best Android tablet and I must play in medium level to play without any lags ?? WTF). As the game dedicated for Tegra 3 is really not optimized or Tegra 3 is overrated.

I choose Performance mode in tablet settings. Next time to play. In performace options (in game) I choose maximum and let's go. Everything looks really nice (moving around tavern) until you meet the fist enemy. There is fire, big monster and at this moment I have terrible lags. My "hero" is moving so slowly and there is no any pleasure with playing. When I set performance mode (in game) to medium it looks great. So my question is: Tegra 3 is overrated or game not fully optimized or maybe both...

NFS and RF2013 aren't compatible with TF700. Also I tried to install the games, but NFS is too slow and RF2013 doesn't start. Same thing for Asphalt 7. For now we can't play this games
I can confirm that NFSMW runs at half the speed. It's ridiculous. And as the game isn't even officialy supported for the TF700 just like almost every EA games, there will probably never be an update.
On my One X (also with a Tegra 3), the speed is correct bu the framerate is far from smooth. Either the Tegra 3 is not as powerful as I hoped, or this game really suffers from a lack of optimization. Probably a bit of both.

I don't want to sound rude, but I don't understand why people are so surprised that Need for Speed Most Wanted cannot be played on the tf700. It is a very graphic-intensive game that requires a really powerful SoC to play at Full HD resolution, and Tegra 3 simply is outdated. It is like asking why Intel HD 3000 cannot play Crysis 2 at max details level at full HD resolution. No amount of optimization can make up for hardware limitations.
?huh
