Installed AOKP ROM Lost Data, Phone, Network - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I moved this because I think I posted it in the wrong forum earlier. I really need help here. Does anyone have a Verizon Galaxy S3 with AOKP? Can you tell me how you got it to work??
I have a Verizon Galaxy S3. I installed the AOKP ROM after rooting/unlocking the device. Afterwards, I lost all data. Flashed back to stock rooted, still no data. Where the data service indicator is, it indicates as if the radios aren't there. I lost APN files I believe, tried to back them up from a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Nothing. I checked the MEID and restored it manually using QPST. I followed the directions exactly, but when checking the MEID it displays all the digits but the last one. I am lost here and have tried everything I know or could find out to do. Can anyone here help? Please. I also lost phone calls. "Mobile Network Not Available" Can someone on Verizon with a S3 on AOKP tell me how they got this to work? The ROM is beautiful. Thank you in advance.

Very wrong forum...hope you backed up your imei... you lost it. That's why you read the forum before flashing: (

This is great, it got the data back but the phone still doesn't work to make calls or text messages. Do my APN settings have anything to do with this?

This corrected the IMEI! Verizon now recognizes the phone. It has data now but does not make phone calls or do texting. Any ideas here? I am keepiing a record of all this stuff. I'm sorry to trouble you all here, and am learning quickly this is not for the faint of heart. Thank you again

I didn't bother with backing up anything, like an idiot. I'm learning the hard way here... My APNs had been backed up and restored. the AOKP ROM doesn't show APNs for some reason.

Try going back to the stock touch wiz Rom and see if you still have the problem

Vibrant 4G Gingerbread update query

I accidentally posted this query in the standard Vibrant forum and they re-directed me here. So here's my initial query:
So I finally found out that the Galaxy Vibrant 4G (SGH-T959V) from T-Mobile now has an official update for Gingerbread. So since my mobile has been on Bionix Frost Custom ROM for long enough, I think I'll just update the phone. I'm aware that I'll loose the "root" feature, but my query is will I loose my network unlock? Also, will the contacts on the phone memory be wiped off too?
This is the first time I'm updating the phone. Since it was rooted before, should I bear some precaution before updating or is there a specific manner in which I should update?

I was planning on updating it via Kies. Kindly let me know if there is anything I need to keep in mind before proceeding with the update. I'm planning to update as per the method listed on T-Mobile website. Unfortunately, since I'm new to this forum, I can't seem to post it's direct link.

I don't recall losing anything when I updated with Kies. However, I would suggest making a backup of your data just in case. I sync my contacts with T-Mobile so even after I flash something that wipes the phone, the contacts sync back on their own.
I'm not sure if you can go from Bionix to KJ6 (2.3.6) using Kies Mini. Keis is picky about what ROM you're on with regard to updating. If it tells you that your phone's not registered, I'd suggest using ODIN to flash RaverX3X's ROM-ODIN-2.3.6-Gingerbread Offical. It's 100% based on the Kies Mini download but repackaged for ODIN for those having issues with Kies.
Thanks for the prompt reply Steve. Let's assume Kies DOES pick up my phone and confirms the Gingerbread update for it? Should I go ahead with it?
I don't see why not. You have nothing to lose by trying out the official kj6

I'm with Jager. Wifi signal strength is a little decreased, some people have had issues sending large text messages, but the phone is much more responsive.
Absolutely! My current ROM seems to be really buggy in places, thus depicting a rather poor picture of Android. So I was planning to try the stock ROM to see if it helped. So just to confirm, I won't loose my network unlock, correct?

I don't know about network unlock as I've not done that. However, this shouldn't mess with the /efs mount or it's contents, which is where I think the unlocks occur.
Someone else feel free to chime in on this one as I'm not sure.
You shouldn't lose your network unlock since that partition doesn't get touched by any updates.
I say you go for the upgrade but since you're already on a custom ROM, why not just use a custom KJ6 rom instead of the Kies version, you'll like it a lot more.
If you do wind up wanting a custom ROM, I recommend you click on the SGS4G Starter Pack link in my signature. Good guide.
Happy flashing!
That's what I thought but I wasn't sure. Thanks for clarifying FB!
Cheers folks! I'll first flash to the stock ROM and if I feel the need to enhance it, I'll definitely move onto one of the custom ROM's. Thank you for all your help, much appreciated.

I have clockwork rom recovery please help me I am shaking i am so nervous everything works except the data network calling texting etc even wifi works help me please
Sorry mate this is the G3! Forum not GS3 2 completely different phones. But I have a broad idea on imei, if you didn't backup your efa then I guess it's service center for you. However I'm not 100% sire this applies to GS3. Try asking on their forums.

[Q] samsung galaxy sII virgin mobile wrong kernal! heI i

so i recently read a thread on howardforums on now to root virgin mobile's samsung galaxy sII. i just got one for christmas and wanted to try it out. apparently i used the wrong kernal when flashing it over to my phone using odin as they specified. so when it was done i attempted to turn the phone on and all i got was the samsung galaxy sII logo and a yellow triangle. i have tried every way i know possible to get this off of my phone. i even went as far as to research repairing this problem using the siyah kernal. i can longer start my phone i can however get into download mode and recovery mode. i have tried to do a factory reset over ten times but it doesnt work. the only other thing i can think of is to flash the original stock firmware over to the phone and hope for the best. does anyone A: know where i could get the original firmware for the phone or B: have any better suggestions on how to fix this issue. i would greatly appreciate is as it was a gift from my mom and i dont have insurance on the line and even if i did. they wouldnt take it back because they would find out that i rooted it. and i cannot afford to go out and buy a new one any time soon. once again any help is much appreciated please get back to me ASAP!! i've learned my lesson and if i can get back to factory settings i am not going to root this phone ever again!!!
Yes, wiping and flashing the stock ROM is what you need to do.
To find it, try going to your device's forum (and/or searching) - and make sure it's for the correct carrier.
Mistakes happen, it's okay. If you'd still like root access, just go slowly and re-read everything a couple of times before putting it to practice.
Edit : Also, take a look into how to make back-ups of your phone - that way you can try things and not have to worry about losing everything and having to start over.

Double check your model number. It will be printed on the label underneath the battery. I believe the Virgin Mobile Galaxy SII is the SPH-D710 (aka the Epic 4g Touch), NOT the GT-i9100. This is the forum for the i9100. If your model number reads as SPH-D710, then you're looking in the wrong forum. The i9100 doesn't even work on the same network as the Epic 4g Touch. Firmwares and kernels for the i9100 won't work on the Epic 4g Touch.

You're right mine is the SPH-D710. thank you. i went to samsung mobile and put the sprint firmware for the SPH-D710 on my phone. but now my issue is that when i turn the phone on it loads up the sprint logo instead of the virgin one and it now has all the stock sprint apps instead of virgin ones. andddd. the most annoyhign of them all. i cannot get MMS messages to download no matter what i do. i've tried searching online for what to do i have found this Menu>settings>wireless and networks>more...>mobile networks> press menu> press ADD apn...etc etc. the issue for me is i get to mobile networks and hit menu and it does absolutely nothing at all. i have downloaded numerous apps like chomp sms. go sms pro. hancent sms. nothing helps. though this sprint firmware is fine for now. i'd love to know where to get the stock virgin firmware Samsung Mobile doesnt seem to have it. if anyone knows where to get it i'd appreciate the help i know i am posting in the wrong forum. i'm pretty much a noob at this. and now that its got sprint firmware on it i dont know if i can take it to a sprint store to have them fix it especially since my phone does say that it has been rooted in the past when i go into download mode. but however it does say i am running stock at the current moment....someone please help!! Verizon Galaxy SIII in Portugal

Hi guys,
So I know it is super specific but I was wondering if anyone has used their Verizon GSIII in Portugal. I know theoretically it should work but I was looking through this thread and noticed that user Beemer533 wasn't able to get SMS and data to work even though he has used the same method in many other countries. Do you think the new update that Verizon launched a while ago should have fixed it? I know Beemer533's problem was before that update.
Thanks so much!
It should work fine, use a custom touchwiz rom though, if you are gonna be stock then you dont be able to get Data working

I'm using CleanROM V6. That should work, yeah?
Also, I just wanna be absolutely sure, should this work by just putting in the sim card or should I still use the method described in the OP of that thread I linked?
Thanks again!
Buy tomorrow this exact model
Tomorrow i go buy a cousin this exact model...
I read all the posts and my question is simples. This Verizon model works in Portugal with GSM to make calls and sem text messages, and with 3G?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say but I will be arriving in Lisboa on Monday, I will let you know if I get it working!
I am here in Lisbon now and voice, sms, and data are working perfectly. This is with the latest CleanROM R6 based on Jelly Bean. I believe you need a custom ROM like this to get data to work properly.

Did you automatically get the APN? or have to install a apn manager app?
Before I arrived I did install an APN manager app and I put into it all the possible APN's that Vodafone might use. But when I put in the SIM card it picked it up right away without me having to go into the app or anything. So I think the APN manager is not needed, but you may want to set it up before hand just to be safe.
Cheers!

VZW ROMs/root/recovery work on metroPCS S3?

Hey, I apologize if this isnt the forum for this, but I'm looking for a way to get my friend's metro PCS S3 rooted recovered and rom'd. Now, there doesn't seem to be a wealth of information on it, but I figured that the vzw and metro variants are pretty similar as they're both CDMA, and found some guy on a forum *somewhere* saying you could flash over roms and get everything to work, but he didn't really elaborate on that any. I'm pretty lost here, I don't even know if the metro PCS s3 bootloader is locked or not, but any information would be helpful.

Starting off the MetroPCS Galaxy S3 has a unlocked bootloader. To root the device you can use the US Cellular version of CF-AUTO Root http://download.chainfire.eu/230/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-d2usc-d2usc-schr530u.zip. You can get CWMR for your device here http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-d2mtr.img or if you prefer the touch version of CWMR http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-d2mtr.img. As far using VZW ROMs I have also seen people use them and they usually work fine except for data and sms/mms problems however some APN tweaking should solve these problems.

If you go under settings>more settings> wireless and networks>mobile networks>acess point names or similar you should be able to edit the APN settings which provide the information you need to send and receive data and sms/mms. For a good ROM I would recommend taking a look at CM 10 or CM 10.1 nightly builds from here.
