Help a new Sensation owner choose a rom :)

Hi just got my sensation today to replace my aging Desire
Ive already S-OFF and rooted the handset and installed clockwork mod recovery but have no idea which rom to try. Ideally I want an ICS rom but need one that fully works, the main thing I need is a fully working camera (unlike the ones on the desire) if there is such a rom not too bothered about sense although it is nice, but I quite like the look and feel of ASOP ICS too
I know I need to flash a new firmware on my handset before flashing an ICS rom, failing that what about any GB roms?

ARHD has good ICS and Gingerbread ROM's. Everything works with them.
There's plenty others like RCMix too.

Excellent cheers, just trying to get touch recovery 4ext installed atm, had it on desire no problem but no go atm on the sensation
*Edit* think its installed now

Another couple of questions.
Do I need to do the SuperCID thing?
Ive rooted, installed 4ext and s-off'd and have also just unlocked my phone so can use any simcard.
Next i keep reading about the superwipe script but I cant seem to find it can someone possibly link me to that?

Actually ARHD is not a good example for a "fully working" camera. ARHD with GB uses Faux's Kernel as default that actually has a bug with the camera (freezes the phone if you power off the phone with the camera on). If you want no problems, rock solid performance with your phone, I do recommend a ROM with an official HTC RUU as base (Build 1.73 being the latest official GB), working with a stock Kernel. From which dev, that's up to you....
Personally I do not use ICS yet as it doesn't support all the features I'm using with GB.

Ok thanks for that, will have a look at some GB ones, which do you recommend? Also do I need to do the SuperCID procedure?

Used insercoin roms on my desire until he defected I mean his phone broke
Could give that a go too, just going to do the supercid thing anyway

If you haven't already found it, superwipe download is near the bottom of OP of this thread.
I've been using it since day one with no problems.
If you're thinking of going with DarkForest I can highly recommend it, it's what I've been on for a while
SuperCID, read this thread. If you don't SuperCID you just have to make sure any firmware etc you use is specific to your CID (maybe check out this thread), with SuperCID anything for the Sensation will work for you

Android Revolution HD should be your choice, was my choice few months ago and I don't regret. mike will upgrade to 6.5.1 tonight, if you still has not changed your rom this is the moment to do it.

If you would like the best rom, In my opinion it's an Extreme Sensation rom. There are both the sense and no sense flavor's.
Look at my signature it will give you all the information you need ( going to the site below the QR code will also link you to all the resources you need to install it )

There are plenty of Roms for Sensation. I am using ARHD and I did not try others. I am happy with ARHD Rom except that I could not use reverse tethering. Hope will be fixed in future releases.

What have I done, yesterday I rooted and supercid my phone but was having problems after flashing Darkforest, so today after reading the recomendations I thought id try android revolution hd, read the install guide and thought went through the procedure of upgrading the firmware, as i was supercid i downloaded what I believed to be an unlocked 3.32 but when upgrading it I noticed this screen

I want to install stock ruu on my ds without making it S- on how to do it ..??

Can someone tell me how to install this? I know zip files - flash from recovery, but these are exe files. After installing this rom, will my s-off newest hboot and 4ext recovery be gone? I am quite new in these stuff, thank you for your help. I have spent much time in making my device s-off... It was pain for a week because my hboot version was too new.

I knw this post is seriously old but nobody replied so i thought i would add my bit for anyone else who wondered the same.
The files on that site are ruu exe files yes but if you run the exe and wait for it to extract all the files you then go to your usernames temp folder on c drive and find the temp folder it extracted to and pull the zip file named 'rom' from it.
as for what it would do to your s-off status from flashing a stock rom, i dont know.

Steve, did you succeed in whatever you were planning for your HTC Desire S? I am downloading 2 RUUs right now and I hope to flash my S-ON, Unrooted, Desire S on Android 4.0 back to Android 2.3

yes, my desire is S-OFF, and running a rooted 4.4.4 rom.
Baffled why you would want to go back to 2.3 though, im loving 4.4.4

Android 4.4? Wow. Good to know. About going back to 2.3, its a personal thing. I am not comfortable entering my bank passwords in a custom ROM and the official 4.0 is a burden on the phone. So, I decided to go back to 2.3.

I've never tried the official ice rom although I did get on very well with another ics rom I ran untill jelly bean and kitkat roms became stable. I understand your concerns about security, its for that very same reason that all the banks apps will not install on a rooted device.
I dont use any of that stuff, I leave all that to the wife so, im free to do what I want worrie free lol.
another bonus is that my desire s is not my every day phone (I have a HTC Win phone for that) so nothing personal, no photos that matter, no contacts, nothing is on the device.
I use the desire a bit like a teeny little tablet if you like.
Android is better than win phone in a LOT of respects but win phone is faster and 100% stable all of the time so that gets used as my phone plus it has a physical keyboard and I absolutely hate using on screen keyboards!

once i get to 99% my download cuts off. happens all the time. If this is deliberate then it's wicked. subscribing for data is expensive out here.

You could flash a custom Rom that it is similar to stock Rom so it could have more features on it. So you should try different sense roms.

There's a tutorial on how to downgrade to stock somewhere I don't think you can downgrade by flashing.

Yeah I mean by running these RUU's while I am in a custom ROM. Cant see the tutorial.

I just installed the ROM and I have the first experience with Sense 5. Hope incall calls would be fix soon and wifi mobile data also. Some apps like phone and clock need to be resizing. Thanks for bringing this awesome ROM!

Its possible to make a custom kernel with ville-4.2.2-sense5-evitaul_porting ?
So it now must be possible to make s2w working and so on right ?

I am S-On and 1.06 hboot and cannot pass the boot loop, just like on Magio beta ROMs. I followed all the installation instructions and flashed the boot img. too. So please: is there another person having my phone specs which was able to flash either this or Magio beta ROMs ?

You will need to upgrade your hboot to 2.15, as you will need to do this for ALL 3.4 kernel based ROMs. (Don't confuse with hboot 2.16 which you only need for the MaximusHD ROM!!)
See this thread or just RUU your device and return to the original firmware, take the latest official OTA update and then reunlock your device to install the newer ROMs.

Wifi not working for me ... Reason : Failure ... any idea ?

So that's why it wasn't the Rom it's your firmware use the jb ruu and unlock your bootloader then come back and flash

It's because you updated your firmware so your partitions are not correct for this Rom you will have to downgrade your firmware to run this Rom

I have an older hboot. I had never installed any ruu.
I am thinking about changing the rom into sense5: MaximusHD / MagioRom / SourcE .
I understand that I have to upgrade my HBOOT into 2.16 and to S-OFF my device.
I have some questions about that issue:
1. Is the sense 5 better then sense 4 in htc one s ?
2. how is the battery life in sense 5, compared to sense 4?
3. If I upgrade the hboot to 2.16, can I install viper one s again ?!
4. where can I find hboot 2.16 ?
5. what recovery do you recommend me to use in hboot 2.16 ?
6. I understood that there is a problem with the sd-card , in sense 5. Is it true?

3.no you can't because the new firmware changes your partition layout for 4.2.2

You will have to downgrade your firmware
Yes that's the tool
This twrp will be on maximusHD but if you use my tool it will be installed automatic
There is a how to on how to adb push in the Dev part of our forum
Yes no more reboots
There is animated background in the notification area you might be able to request it as a mod for modded background in appdrawer
And yes it all one
And once you upgrade you SD will be wiped to so back up you SD card

Just to briefly describe... Users flash stock sense 6.. And then wipe everything but boot/system and flashing this over top of the stock Rom.. but make sure stock Rom is a fresh install.

Can we be on unlocked stock sense 6
Edit 2: install it over top of the stock sense 6 rom, phone freez at splash screen... Any one try this rom?

1. On latest firmware for DLX
2. Flashed twrp 2.8.0.2
3. Flashed santods stock sense 5.5
4. Booted Rom then went back to recovery
5. Wiped everything except system and boot And sdcard
6. Flashed this and no luck on boot freezes on boot animation.
Have any guide on installing correctly ?

I've got the ROM by flashing over the [ROM][4.4.3][Sense 6] LIBERTY ROM with 12.13 release
or with a previous release in manner I mentioned above (build.prop edition)

No roms on the mini forum can install this and have it booting.. though I have my 4.4.4 port that's based off m8 as mentioned in my IC thread and I was able to boot this Rom using my 4.4.4 base.... I will be more then glad to share my Rom with @sun_dream so you guys can enjoy 4.4.4... That's up to him since this is his rom thread.... But issues still persist. Video playback.. seems it wasn't fixed even with this flashed over.
Edit : going to try flashing over IC after changing build.prop.. Will report back.
EDIT 2 : Flashed InsertCoins latest revision with official twrp 2.8.1.0 and latest sense 6 firmware.. then booted it... Once booted I used a root explorer and changed ro.build.version.release=4.4.3 to ---> ro.build.version.release=4.4.2 then rebooted system and verified that system>about>Software Information said 4.4.2... I then rebooted to recovery and wiped dalvik , cache and data and then flashed his latest release of this Rom... Once done flashing I rebooted and waited around 10mins and wala I'm on 4.4.4 but nfc crashes... But I kept persistently closed the nfc crash until I was able to install this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer ... Then I granted it permission and navigatated to /system/app/ and deleted the 2 nfc apks and now system is flawless and all works even video playback... If sun_dream will like to add this to op it will help many users

confirm the NFC issue - got extremely battery drain - removed nfc apks and libs from twrp file manager

it works for me, now I use kairi's lastest kernel and synapse
(but I need to be quick with unlocking the phone in the first seconds of loading)

@sun_dream , i took the liberty to remove softkeys via apk way instead of a build.prop edit... thus fixing double tap home for recent apps.. be sure to include this in your rom for an actual fix.... no credit is needed https://copy.com/DCQGWJ7g8Y0w0XYt
