I have a Samsung Captivate. I am pretty tech savy so I have updated. It is running the newest X-Bean rom with the newest devil kernel. It is running silky smooth and looking beautiful. However, I wasn't a fan of the default 240 DPI the rom came with so, using build.prop app, I changed it to 182. Works great with my 5X5 Grid and Nova Launcher. One thing that is bugging me though, the status bar messages are cut off. The whole message won't show if their are multiple ones up. Instead, it will cut off the bottom of them. I am assuming this is the result of my DPI change.
Is there anyway to change the status bar to work with a higher resolution/lower DPI? I know some programs you have to clear the data app when you change the DPI for them to work correctly with the new DPI. Is this the same with the status bar?
Any Help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I just flashed the NSCollab for my Nexus S and my Quadrant score popped from 1600 to 2700. It's awesome. However I don't like the notification bar transparency. Is it possible to change it through settings? I tried to find it but there was nothing.
Same here with the transparent notification bar, it would be nice to be able to change it to something more like the stock rom. Also any way to change the dock launcher, beside just change to a different rom?

Just download a launcher from the android market(ADW launcher, LPP)
Asking to see if it is possible for anybody out there to make at least the navigation bar transparent, maybe even the status bar, or have a really light transparent color in case of background image being the same color.. Or even adding an option too outline a different color of the software buttons themselves so that they can be seen on any background color.
By this I mean to have the transparency while browsing the web, and everything else, instead of just to look at my wallpaper which although I like it, makes no sense to me when the transparency goes away once I'm actually using the phone.
It would make things feel as if I really am using a nearly 5 inch screen.
Trying to get this for stock rooted, but I guess it always grows to make it over into other Roms once made for rooted, which is good.
I guess whoever agrees just add to this, or second it at least, and if this is at all possible staying on root, MAYBE someone good will actually do this.
But if not possible at all on stock root,, then I guess simply list a ROM closest to stock which is capable of it.
Why would you want it to be transparent when you are browsing the web? It would look very strange to see the background top and bottom while you are in your browser. I suppose you could do this if you wanted, I would suggest paranoid android and change the system ui, android os, launcher etc colors to transparent for the navigation part. I do not think PA is out yet for nexus 5 but that is the only route that I can think of.
Because I don't think it would look weird at all.. I think it would make me feel like I'm actually using a 5 inch screen.
I wish I could do it myself but I wouldn't even know where to start.
Here is an example of only the navigation bar without the black bar.
But also imagine the software buttons in whatever color and even an outline color so they wouldn't completely disappear with the white background.. Lol although I wouldn't even mind if they did as I already know where they are and never even look at them when using them.

PA only allows transparent navigation bar for the launcher. The status bar can be transparent for any app, though. You could do a transparent status bar with full screen + Pie to achieve the full screen transparency, but that of course gets rid of the nav bar completely.
And, as you mention, AOSPA isn't out yet for N5.

Your first solution with the outlines or whatever creates the same problem of covering up whatever you are doing, making it a frustrating full screen view that still requires scrolling to see the full content behind the nav buttons. Your second solution creates the major problem of accidentally hitting the nav buttons.
As I mentioned above, one solution for you is to go full screen + Pie. AOSPA isn't out, but CM has this feature, and there are apps that, with root, allow you to hide the nav bars and apps that enable Pie.
I use stock rooted and I use Ultimate Dynamic Navbar which allows this. Here is the link to the paid version which allows customization of the navbar such as transparency. The free version might also work for you because, although it is still a full black navbar, at least it hides away when not in use.

with "immersive mode" or whatever google calls it, hopefully apps will update to include this. this will automatically hide both notification and status bars until you do an swipe from the screen's edge.
and possibly, once custom ROMs become more....custom....they will have an always on "immersive mode" so even apps that weren't updated will still work. similar to expanded desktop, but a little easier to navigate around after it is toggled on.

thanks for the heads up. looks like this has pretty much everything i need in a ROM. I dont like the fact that the google dialer isn't there though (search function isn't working) but maybe i can get it on there.
I think having both transparent would look pretty good. You kinda get a sample of how it would be when you swipe to go to Google Now. It looks pretty slick in my opinion.

Immersive mode and transparent navbar are quite the opposite.
Transparent navbar is everywhere where scrolling content is displayed. It could be the default. I wonder if it is hard to achieve. The only web browsers that support is use the built-in webview, which is not great update wise.
Immersive mode is meant to lock the view in a single app. More for games, slideshows etc.
And the list doesn't grow. Is everyone only programming for Samsung, or does Google give the wrong example?
Recently been reading 1 article about full system dpi change (from 480 to 320) b4 was using manually the xposed app settings.
After I change the full system dpi had a couples of issues with some app's like dialer tw and other as well as themer.
The thing is that I could find all the unfixed app's in xposed app setting and change the needed dpi so everething went smooth with all of the except lockscreen and themer.
If any 1 know how you can fix the lockscreen dpi to normal ( when system dpi was changed to 320) I can't find it in app setting as well as themer I can find it but it looks a bit weird.
Sory for opening new topic for that but I wrote in that article but the author did not answer as well as pm just need some help to fix that
Ty
+1
I am also searching new DPI changing apps including for lockscreen...there is one from bala but now it became old method and many apps FCing

Try "AppSettings" module for xposed framework. It has per app dpi settings and a lot of other features. You can find it here. And for finding out witch activity represend the lockscreen you can use "Tinted Status Bar" it has a option to show a toast everytime you change the activity or app on the screen.

Ok mate....Tinted Status Bar makes your status bar color related to your activity.So...if you are in playstore and the upper ribbon is green your status bar also turns green.Something like iOs 7 look.

I installed the last Nightly of CyanogenMod, and there was an issue with the nav bar and status bar. In Android 4.4.2. and all of the screenshots I've seen of CM on Nexus 5s, I've never seen an issue with someone not having the transparent status bar and nav bar. Is there a way I can fix this, or do I need to install the Snapshot instead? Thanks.
Also, to install any ROMs, I've only booted into a custom recovery. I've never completely installed a custom recovery, as I had some problems with it not letting me mount to USB-OTG. If someone knows how to fix this too, please help.

Regarding the status bar, I really have no idea, but I have some experience with CM-based roms on a different device, and I would suggest that you look in the build.prop file and see if ro.config.low_ram is set to "true". If it is set that way, change it to "false". That may enable the parts of the framework that include the transparent status bar.

I meant to mention that besides it not being transparent, it had the normal 4.3 black background, however, the black background has a smaller margin and the icons at the top were at the VERY bottom of the margin on that box.

Are you using apex? I had this problem and icouldn't figure out why. turns out it was the CM11 Wallpapers. Try using a different wallpaper. It will be fully transparent. That fixed it for me anyway. Goodluck.

Ah, I see. I do not use Apex either, I freaking love GEL and will not get rid of it. When I get home, I'll reflash Cyanogen with the CM installer and I'll fix this. Thanks very much, buddy.
I got it all fixed now. I'm probably not keeping CM11, as I've found some ROMs on here that look really good.

Maybe it was their wallpaper selection.
Unfortunately, alot of the wallpapers on the selection are not big enough to crop well to the screen... That is why it looks like they aren't translucent
And the CM11 installer is, unfortunately one of the reasons for that as well, its made to work across multiple devices, including ones not with softkeys...
Hi everybody.
I've recently received my L02, and as usual, first thing I did was step down the display density to 380.
Now, I have to say EMUI handles this much better than Sense, but I have one thing that bugs me - the buttons on the navbar are not centered anymore, they're slightly moved to the left (like they're still centered on the original dp width of the bar).
Does anybody have a fix for this? I'll be looking in the framework apks, just thought maybe I can save myself some work.

Same problem here with my H60-L12.
Installed busybox and also tried to change the style with softkeyz.
