This may be somewhat common knowledge, but I thought I'd share since I don't see any threads about Hulu in here.
It seems Hulu has decided having root is evil and therefor they will not allow you to stream to a device which is rooted. I don't get why these companies do this. I tried temp unroot with rootkeeper but it still didn't want to work, though it could be the flag gets set for the device on your account and doesn't flip back without some further intervention on Hulu's end.
Thank you for your email, and I'm sorry for the trouble with Hulu Plus on your Asus Transformer Infinity. I'm afraid the error message you're receiving indicates that our system flagged your Infinity as a "rooted" device. Basically, "rooted" means that the software on the device has been altered in some way. Some users may do this to enable particular apps on their devices or to customize the Android OS, but unfortunately, we cannot support these modified-OS devices. I realize this is frustrating and I apologize.
If you don't believe your device is rooted, just let me know and we can investigate other causes of this error message. To aid my troubleshooting, is there anything installed on the device or any unusual settings that might be triggering this "rooted" flag? There are some apps that are known to cause this trouble (Hide It Pro is one of these apps).
Again, my apologies for all the trouble here. I hope we can reach a solution. Let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with, or if you have further questions.

Hmmm I'm rooted and hulu works fine for me, but I did restore my hulu app from my prime backup.

If you are unlocked hulu will not work because Asus deletes the drm keys off the tablet upon unlocking. Meaning hulu and some other programs won't work that rely on that.
If you are not unlocked, make sure if you have ad away installed that you disable it before opening the app it will not work until you do this. Hulu works just fine for me rooted.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
ahhh so it's the unlocking they are balking at, not necessarily just being rooted.
thanks for the info, that clears up the why of it. damn i hate drm.
Is this something that could eventually be worked around? I use hulu plus a lot and I'm getting this tablet soon. I wonder of its even worth unlocking for me

I suggest forgoing the Hulu Plus app and modifying your flash so you can watch Hulu Plus straight from the stock browser or Dolphin. The attached script requires root and busybox, but will modify your libflashplayer.so so that it's unblocked by Hulu.com. This also circumvents the HDMI-out limitation found in the current app.

Hmm. I may have to try that when I get my tf700 next Wednesday. Thanks.

Currently I think unlocking the TF700 is not ready due to the fact that we don't gain that much by doing so (more headache by doing so). I would wait after the release of Jelly Been.
Is updating with the ota safe then? I hear it fixes some issues

Yes, the .26 OTA is safe and worth applying

Safe? To my knowledge it was never unsafe. .26 definitely does perform better than previous versions, though it's less than what I'd expect from a $500+ tablet.

I meant, can you still unlock bootloader and root after doing the update. I know with my EVO LTE, if I take the ota, I lose root.

yes you can still do both. =)
I was reading that there is a modded version of Hulu Plus that works on an unlocked prime. I guess the Landscape version at the link below works quite well.. Can anyone test this on the infinity? I have yet to unlock. I would rather not lose the hulu app.

I have it on my unlocked infinity, It works fine in terms of showing tv shows and movies, but the interface is a little annoying and old school. Mostly you just have to get used to the search feature. It is not as easy to navigate as the new app, but if you know what you are looking for it's pretty good.

OK - so this morning I got up, was having coffee, and thought 'well, let's try unlocking again', which has become a daily ritual with no success. Well to my astonishment, it suddently asked to verify my google account, and boom, I was unlocked. So I'm very curious to see if others have success and whether mine was a fluke or what. I had registered my serial number last week. I am rooted and had just reset my device last night (again) to factory default after trying out different tweaks in the build.prop. But I've reset my device and re-installed .26 update a dozen or so times since receiving it last week while messing around with things. Nothing different this morning or last night than yesterday on my end, so something updated or changed on Asus' side.
Hopefully others who wish to unlock will now have some success?
From the looks of it asus finally fixed the problem. I too was able to unlock after a week of tryinv

Not for me personally (I unlocked at what now feels like an age ago, although it's been only a few weeks), but for all the TF700-ers in here that had unlock (and OTA!) problems this would be a godsend! Let's keep our fingers crossed. And furthermore, let's try and deduce if registering the TF700 is a crucial step in letting ASUS know about your serial and update their 'sold units database'. If so, I'd recommend every no-go-ers to register immediately, especially when it enables OTAs...
I never registered with them and yet I can unlock as of today. So I dint think its that important to do. Unless bestbuy sent in my s/n for me.

They are not the same thing. Unlocking lets you install a custom recovery image, and then custom ROMs. Rooting just gives you root permissions inside of Android.

rooting installs super user and gives some apps more freedom. Unlocking allows you to install custom eons and an alternate recovery

Other people could confirm this ?
I can confirm the unlock now works.
so last night i was riding in a car and needed to take some notes, popped open my tablet with the keyboard because it was a bumpy road and figured using my fingers on the screen would be hopeless to get the amount of information as quickly as it needed to get put down.. so i tried two different tablet apps i had installed (no internet at the time to find others) and both wouldn't let me use the keyboard to take notes... both wanted stylus/finger mode only... I also tried to use google drive but it wouldn't let me create anything new in offline mode.
any options here folks that one can think of? im not really interested in installing 1000+ notepad apps on the market to find one via brute testing..
thanks.

Of this current infinity, no. Of the next, who knows, maybe, maybe not.
Have you tried and asked any Windows tablet owners if they can dual boot android? (I have no idea)
Worst case scenario, buy these 3 things: Windows tablet, infinity tablet, superglue
I'm just kidding of course. I'm sure there is something out there that can give you dual boot, I remember seeing a video of a large tablet (more than 10") that could do this, maybe it was even Asus, can't fully remember.

Can i run USB modems on TF700 ?
Just for using the sim card for whatsapp, tango, and viber..
Or should say in the question: how can i run or use simcard on the infinity?

I will be honest, I don't fully understand your question, and could be others aren't either.

I'd say most of us on here have the wifi version, meaning we don't have a sim card.

Maybe if you buy the original USB adapter from Asus and then hook the 3G dongle, otherwise i can't see how you could use it, the tablet alone doesn't have an USB/Micro USB port.

I cannot promise you that this is 100% correct, but I believe it is said in another thread that Windows 8 requires a different type of software at the boot loader / startup level. Boot loaders cant be flashed anymore after the patch from .26 to .30 when ICS was the stock ROM and you cannot downgrade from .30 to .26. That is why it is said to get NVFLASH which could be done on the earlier versions so if a corruption happened it could be restored. Once you are on 4.1.1 or 4.2.1 you are out of luck, like I was.

yeah haha, I'm sure it will have a hefty price tag too!
not to forget mentioning:
what's going to go on with updates to each OS, - how will that be administered?
How slow will it be when asus needs to pair those updates (if it does), i.e. android goes to 4.3, but windows not ready and stays same version.
how much space is left in the device after have Android in there as well as hefty windows OS?
how much support/attention will this get from developers - I don't see many. "bootloader? which one? how?"
Can one run a custom android rom while the other stays stock wondows?
many unknowns here (for us, not general user of course)
still a neat device = yes
do i really also need windows on my tablet, and do I need one larger than 10.1" = no
and asus can remove the 4k hdmi out of the new infinity and focus on I/O, I hope new owners dont get stuck like we did (and tf200 users).
first thing i'll be interested to see are the benchmarks. Thank goodness for sdbags and everyone who make the tablet (tf700) what it should have been, and probably better!
