I decided to give mobile platform a try. I worked before alot with java and it shouldnt be a problem. Im going to make start with games since they are way more fun to code than utility apps. Now the first problem would be the whole idea and concept of the game. I was thinking about some sort of sneaking game where you have to remain silent(not moving too fast), avoid lights and maybe security cameras. This would have traps along the way as well. Developing levels is not easy but this sort of game will just not work on score.
That's my idea. Now...tell me your ideas about a new game concept. The more ideas I get the better it is.
That sounds just like Metal Gear

And since theres no Metal Gear for Android, (besides fpse), I say go for it.
Gameloft has made a career out of offering us games that the original devs for whatever reason don't offer us on Android.
**note: I love Gameloft games, they are at least high quality knock offs of popular games.
something like transformers where player can become robot and car both and fight with other robot (maybe via internet too)
Huge multi player online game

A multiplayer game, phone vs phone via Bluetooth or something like that would be wicked. Especially if you don't need a data connection to do so

Hello, i have ideas to several games, all of them multiplayer.
Multiplayer via wifi or data connection.
I think they can be very successful, something Android havent seen yet.
But i dont think they can be made with one dev only.
And im not a dev.
That would mean having a server...

What about a tower defense where you actually have the towers already made but must place proper soldiers in them like archers, mages and healers. Why healers? Because you also get shot and die :d

A bomberman clone of some sort ? Definately with local and online multiplayer though or else it would be "just another bomberman clone" .
All of these games that are "free" but when you play them the gold is crazy priced.
Blood and glory.
DH3.
Order and Chaos(Not free but same idea).
Gun Bros.
Six Guns.
And I am sure there are plenty more that I just haven't found yet.
Add six guns to that list as well. I actually ended up using my credit card on the damn thing to buy the currency.
Nothing is really free in this world it seems...lol

TF2 started all of this!
And in Blood and Glory you cant even kill the first guy. Crazy.
You also notice that lots of these games have posts on Google Play and Amazon App Store of people who have paid money for extra stuff and they never get it. I just wish that developers of these games wouldn't be so greedy.

The devs work their arses off. How do you expect them to carry on if you're all so (can't honor for the word)?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
yes but telling that game is free and then wanting money from user in the middle of it to get to the next level is simply fraud.
They should really stop using word free and come up with different term to call these games that force you to pay or go away.

Exactly. I would MUCH rather pay $4.99-$9.99 for a complete game were you earn armor in game(Like a normal game) versus paying $99.99 for stupid credits.
I think its stupid. Cause i mean if they make their app cost then they shouldn'y add extra credits for money -.-
Those games should be named "pay-play" to know what is all about. I give the credit to the dev's and we all know that nothing is for free on this world. So be more transparent.

Then sell the game! For example, I would buy Airport City, which is a game like this. Around level 10, it becomes impossible to advance unless you spend money. And there's lots of reviews by people who spend money, but never get the credits.

Whenever I come across a game like this, it gets deleted right away. I understand that devs want to be compensated for their work and that's fine..but to me that's just deceitful. Tricky bastards.

I actually love the games that do this. Although forcing the user to pay to play sucks.
I think Order and Chaos has a good system. 3 free months. Nothing in that game requires a purchase outside a subscription... but you can buy gold to get a head start on higher end weapons. But gold is just 1000 silver, so you really don't need to buy it.
This is how it should be for all games. Even apps like Photoshop. Free core then charge for brushes and filters.
Games could also offer sections of the game, like a gate pass, to let you to other sections.
I'd rather pay to play then buy a full game that sucks. I can pay what I want and skip the rest.

Its not about forcing us too play its the old drug dealer method of "here have this sample of our great new drug" but when your hooked the next one is $100. Its just the fact that they don't tell you up front that its a limited demo "Freemium" unless you purchase updates in app.
The really should call it "Shareware" because that's kind of the motto they work on

I think it's here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754517
That's it. Remember to restart the game and not just resume it. Remove it from recent apps then run the game.
Love how they make it seem like the ultra settings are tegra 3 when its just a setting that is preventing non-tegra 3 devices from playing at max settings.
Slightly unrelated quasi-rant
It is a shame Dead trigger is now free. The alleged reason it went free was the level of piracy on android.
They said they rather leave it as free to play than charge, since they were not making any money out of it.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/appsblog/2012/jul/23/dead-trigger-android-free-piracy
Now, if that is really true, that is a shame.
I was also reading the Instapaper case and found out that the developer of Instapaper is making 6 digits annual profit from the app sales alone, while Papermill developers said they would need around 5 years to pay off dev costs.
http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2012/01/31/146152273/the-tuesday-podcast-the-app-economy
http://www.papermill.me/firstweeks/
Now, I don't care if one agrees with papermill's developer approach of blaming the users or not. My point is: Android installed base is huge. A 99 cents app should not go free due to piracy on a universe of 250M+ users.
I think this points to a fundamental difference between ios users and android users, in which ios users are used to pay premium prices for their apps.
Although i still find hard to believe, in mathematical terms, that Madfinger was really not making any money at all from Dead Trigger. Too large of a userbase to simply not make any money at all.
I have big problems with this game and with Shadowgun too. Both games freezing and very often shake screen too. I cannot play some level without freeze. I wrote to support but without any reaction. I pay and now is free. Never more any game from this terrible studio.

Yeah so... I might be the only person here who's looking forward to this game. There's no official release date available yet, but Gameloft has announced that it will be available 'later this year' and will be on both iOS and Android.
From what I can tell it looks to be a city builder type game. Playing mini games to earn points, then using those points to buy houses, ponies, items...so on and so forth.
So my questions to you all is: Are you excited for this game? Do you think It'll satisfy My Little Pony fans? Will you be buying this? & If so how much are you willing to pay?
I personally think I will be a good game if they do 2 simple things. Listen to what the fans have to say, and have it reflect future episodes, meaning if new ponies make their appearance in season 3, I think Gameloft should add them into the game and to do as much as possible to have the game reflect the TV show. If they keep the updates coming this game should have some lasting appeal & replay value.
Check out the iPad game play demo and let me know what you think.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlBInHiJ-74
As a fellow brony, this excites me. /)
Like you said, as long as Gameloft listens to what the fans have to say. And of course new ponies and cannon names and the whatnot. And I hope that they include some of the maybe not so well known background ponies. Such as Lyra, Bon Bon, and Dr. Whooves, etc.. I'd probably pay anywhere between 5 and 10 dollars. Depending on how much content is actually in the game.
Possibly....even if I stopped watching it after season 2 episode 1....I still read the fanfics though lol.

Edit: just watched the video, no way will this run on her ****ty wildfire s
They could make great use of the Xperia Plays touch pads on this game, instead of touch swiping the screen to navigate you could just use the touch pads. And the mini games could make great use of the D-pad. The game has huge potential hopefully they put effort into this instead of just selling the name and making a quick buck.

The only 'major' issue I've come across is the inability to connect to Gameloft & stay connected.
It's a flaw in the game, I expect this to be fixed pretty soon considering most challenges have to do with connecting to gameloft and interacting with other ponies.

Not really, after you hit level 20 everything you need is pretty much there. I currently have 35,000+ bits right now and that number increases every 3 minutes or so. I've also done all the available 'challenges' for the time being (besides the GL ones obviously)
So yeah hopefully we'll see an update soon...

Besides the usual well-known games (Cut the rope, where is my water, etc)
I would recommend 'Music Hero' if you like the guitar hero concept (quite basic, but it lets you play every song in your playlist)
Not so casual, but if you're looking for fun, very humoristic and addictive game- try 'The bard's tale' - it supposed to work fine with your device (but make sure you have at least 3Gb of free storage, because this game is massive!)

A really cool game which has pleasing music and available for both Android and iOS is Osmos. It is kind of a sciency-fiction kind of game where you absorb other objects like cells.
