ME865 to ICS? - Motorola Atrix 2

Hi guys.
I have retail ME865 device, recently bought, it came with 2.3.6 in stock. My previous device was Nexus S with JB, but my display died and I had to get myself cheap upgrade. But getting back to GB is pain I tellz ya!
So I wanna upgrade.
I've been reading stuff here a lot, and since I have no previous experience with rooting/flashing/updating (Nexus S had it all first ), I am a bit confused. What can I do, how, what are the dangers and so on.
For starters, I rooted my phone, installed CWM and Recovery, and installed Remus ROM. Just to try something out. It works great, but I miss ICS feel. Right now phone always boots to Recovery, and I have a stock backup.
What do I need to do to upgrade to ICS?
I am confused with all this stuff! Difference between MB865, ME865, and AT&T phones?
First topic that drew my attention is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683893 Is that update for my phone?
Or this one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681147
If it is possible, It would be super mega awesome if someone can write me all the tiny steps so I don't **** something up. (Softbrick? Hardbrick? What is the difference?)
Thanks SO MUCH in advance.
Cheers.
Edit:
I actually believe I have Chinese edition, because I remember it had Chinese lang installed besides English (default), and default weather widget was in Chinese as well.

[Q] Flashing Rogers ROM on AT&T Infuse

Hi all,
I am UNBELIEVABLY new at Android. Actually, because I now work in a more techy environment I've decided to buy an Android phone to check it out (being mainly an iOS user... no tomatos plz). SO I settled on this really great shape Infuse 4G from AT&T on eBay. Work fantastic. But... I'm in Canada. And I really want to have the French Canadian localization on the phone (there is French, but the keyboard layout is different - azerty vs qwerty - and the general local settings are whacked).
Since I'll be on Rogers anyway, is there a way for me to get the Rogers dump on my phone? I realize they aren't on the same version so I'm not sure how to do this.
So, any help to a total noob would be appreciated. I plan obviously on rooting and unlocking, which I assume I should do first to get the Rogers version on there. I'll read into that now...
Thanks

Bone stock Rogers ROMs with stock kernel will have issues with rainbows at boot due to bootloader incompatibilities.
If you are primarily looking for localization - all Gingerbread ROMs here are based on the Rogers dump (Although I don't think Hellraiser and derived ROMs carry the localization stuff from Rogers, but from the I9000 ROM that is being ported instead.)
Infused 2.x should have the locales you need since it's heavily based off of UXKG3.
Thanks! I didn't realize how complicated this could get... reminds me of my old WM6 days! But that should get me going.
If you don't mind me asking, would there be a way to simply add the localizations to the current ATT ROM without flashing? I'd like to get a bit more acquainted with Android on a stock ROM before I go nuts with modding...
And while I'm at it, is there an easy way, once I would hypothetically flash the phone, to restore it to ATT ROM if I want to resell it for instance?
Thanks so much for the help!

As to adding localizations - that one I don't know. Considering that Infused 2.x is still missing US English due to its Canadian roots, it may not be that easy.
As to flashing back to stock - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
You're my new best friend
hi!
I have found a Rogers Infuse complete dump, all i need is for someone to tar & md5 it, then us canadians who think the "odin stock" program is for canada... (its for at&t) - can get our rogers settings back...

There is a back to stock for Rogers...but it will give you issues if you have an Att phone
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
If you use the Rogers ROM you want to use a custom kernel. If not you will have no recovery and rainbows on boot. You can also flash the new kj2 bootloaders if you use heimdall, that would allow you to use the stock kernel if you wanted to.
thanks...

[Q] Can install cooked ROMs or any of the leaked (from India or China) on Atrix AT&T?
Hey guys, first of all I must say that is not English, I speak Spanish so if I say something wrong I hope to understand.
I turn to you for that, I buy a Refurbished Atrix 2 Released to Amazon, is AT & T My question is: I can install cooked ROMs or any of the leaked (from India or China)? I would like to tell me if I can do and if there is a tutorial to install.
Thank you for your attention!

you can't install the leaks.
There are multiple roms you can install in the development section.
read the noob guide that is sticky for some basic info, then the rom threads for installation instructions

You can install and run custom roms, but there's some things you need to read and understand beforehand. Please read THIS THREAD and you will see that there are several things you must first do, in order to be running custom roms on your device. First, you will need to make sure you are running on Android 2.3.6. for many of the roms in the ATRIX 2 Android Development section, then you will need to attain root, install the custom CWM (Clockworkmod) Recovery, then you will be able to flash whichever rom you so choose.
However, you need to understand that there are international firmware differences relating to the different ATRIX 2 models and their specific regional firmware(s), and roms that are based off these international firmwares may not work on your device! You need to know which device you have, and for which device the rom you are wanting to install is specified to run on. You may brick your phone if you try to install a rom that ins't designed to run on your device! (You have been warned) The leaked ICS updates will NOT work on an ATT.en.US system version!
Well, I do not think I will risk that many steps and I am a newbie.
But still thank you very much for clearing the doubt! Waiting For the ICS official.

It's really not all that difficult. You just have to have a clear understanding of what you are doing -BEFORE doing anything! It's useful knowledge, especially if you are interested in customizing your device beyond what Motorubbish has in its stock rom...
I like your clarity mate, at least you dont wanna mess with your device until you learn. Appreciate that

Yes, after rooting, installing the custom recovery (CWM), and flashing a rom, you can always FXZ back to stock 2.3.5. and the OTA (over-the-air) update to 2.3.6. which will return your device to the fully stock Moto rom.

Most up to date stock ROM for HTC Inspire AT&T

Hey Guys,
I wanted to ask a quick question. I am currently running LeeDroid's rom and I am done with it. I want to go back to what comes with original rom with ATT. I have HTC Inspire any recommendations where I can get it? I tried searching the forum but all the stuff seems from the begining of the year. I am not sure if there is something more recent. I really appreciate your help.
Thanks

If I understand you correctly, you could just use the Ace Advanced Hack Kit (you're gonna have to Google for it, the developer pulled his work from XDA and thus it would not be proper to link to it) to unroot and flash back to the stock ROM, then use the Software Update to update to the latest version. Alternatively, Gizmoe has taken the latest stock ROM update and rooted it. You could always flash that and keep root, if you wish.
It was the first ROM on the I4G's developement page. Jeez peeps, search for it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810461
It's not pure stock, bloatware is gone, there's some tweaks, and you retain root.
If you want to lose root (not sure why anyone would), you can download the update package from HTC. You'll probably lose everything you have , but you'll be on 100% pure stock.
Installing OTA update if you're rooted doesn't work
tried it, update does not launch, but again, why would you

Restoring stock recovery?

Hi,
I have the Japanese S2 LTE, for which there appear to be no custom ROMs. So I'll have to (urgh, this is not why I bought an Android phone) use the carrier's ROM. BUT when I try to do an OTA update, it boots into CWM. I assume this is because the OTA update is setup to work with the stock recovery. So does anyone know where I can get the stock recovery from? I assume I'll need to use Odin?
edit: more info:
Model: SC-03D
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: SC03SOMLB9
Kernel: 2.6.35.11-SC03DOMLB9-CL980106
[email protected] #2
Build number: gingerbread.OMLB9
Also, I'm pretty sure the recovery will be the same as the Skyrocket. Almost everything about the phones is the same, save for the buttons and LTE chip.
TIA
Not sure of your model number, but a quick Google search came up with this...

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, SC-03D. It's the Japanese LTE model on Docomo. The LTE radio is different, and it only has one hard button with two touch buttons (like the original Galaxy S).
That thread is titled just Galaxy S 2 - will that work on an LTE?

For any future reference - I found a complete stock Docomo ROM on SamMobile and flashed it in Odin. My phone is now being treated (by Kies/OTA update) as a fully up to date, unmodified phone. Not that that really helps, Docomo still haven't released ICS. In October 2012. Still on Gingerbread. Yep.

[Q] Is it safe?

Hi everyone,
I know just enough about custom ROMs to make me dangerous. Enough rope to hang myself, if you will.
I rooted my Samsung S3 (Rogers) SGH-i747 from 4.1.2 stock rom, then went to Quantum custom rom which is fantastic. However, with the S5 around the corner and 4.4 kitkat inching towards the S3, I'll be giving this phone to my wife and want it back to stock with OTA updates. (a counter reset would be awesome but only a bonus) I'm using the bootloader I747MVLUEMK5.
Is it safe to flash a stock 4.3 OTA rom from here and if so, how do I go about doing it?
Thanks in advance
anyone else?

Although I appreciate the quick reply, it'd be nice to hear from others as well, perhaps with a bit more experience than 3 posts and a March join date.
Still looking for more input. Your help is appreciated
