Framework-res.apk tranlation
Hi,
I also tried to translate the framework-res.apk of my GT-P6800 from the JB Rom into german language.
I decompiled the framework-res.apk of the JB rom edited the strings.xml in value and compiled again to write the nedites framework-rea.apk to my tab.
After having done this my Tab was not able to boo, it hangs up showing the flasching "SAMSUNG" for minutes...
Maybe we can try together to manage to translate the system.
But i have not cooked a rom til now.
If someone can support, maybe we can manage this before samsung release a tranlated JB ROM, if they ever willl.

Hello all,
I recently became a U8800 owner and I decided to flash it with the latest MIUI ROM, only to find out that their stock Android keyboard does not yet support text prediction in Greek or Greek keyboard at all. Since I didn't want to install a third-party Greek IME from the market, I decided to inject a Greek dictionary found in a previous CM Release plus a Greek keyboard supporting existing LatinIME.apk (from htc devs on a stock 2.3.5 keyboard apk).
It should work on all devices/ROMs, but you can try and share your results.
I also removed all other dictionaries exept english / greek to make it light.
How to install:
1. Navigate to /system/app using Root Explorer and copy/rename your existing LatinIME.apk to a backup folder in your SD card (just to be sure, should things go wrong).
2. Use Root Explorer to mount /system/app as R/W and then paste the new LatinIME.apk inside this folder. Change the file's permissions to rw-r--r-- after pasting.
3. Reboot your device and go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Android Keyboard > Input Languages. Under Greek, it should now say "Dictionary available".

It wokrs correctly on HD2 with Xperia v42 ROM
Thanks
Nice to hear that it works ok.
It works also 100% on my Ideos x5
please reup to somewhere else! will test it on x10 2.3.4 with android keyboard running donut hd rom
Hi ! It's a good news, since I'm seeking how to do the same for the French language since a ROM i flashed my Wildfire S with doesn't support spell check or prediction for it.
Yet, I'm fairly new to the modding scene (my previous phone was a an LG oldie...) and don't know how all of this works, so could you please elaborate ?
Do you mean I should try and retrieve HTC_IME.apk (I'm guessing it's the equivalent of LATIN_IME.apk, but for HTC...) from the stock 2.3.5 ROM and replace the current crappy one with it ? Are the dictionaries contained in the apk ? If not, where will I find the French dictionary ?
Thanks for reading me, I hope you can help.
I would gladly click the "thank you" button for your OP, but I can't seem to see it...
So here goes the old-fashioned way : Thanks !

Yeah I stumbled upon this same folder en.us in usr/ and it's purely useless (in regard of our problem) as far as I can tell...
But I found a way to get it back and working. It's basically the same procedure, but for HTC. I just posted it, I hope it'll help others as well :

It's posible... but you need "developer's skills" if you want insert the italian language in your current Stock ROM. On the other hand, the "Easy" way is install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.c_lis.ccl.morelocale&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImpwLmNvLmNfbGlzLmNjbC5tb3JlbG9jYWxlIl0., and set your LOCALE (I assume is it_IT). In general all non system apps will be translated, and maybe some system apps too, or maybe not.
Another "solution" is install a Custom rom like CyanogenMOD. You can read this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121029.

Thank you very much
+1. developer skills: - this is the most difficult and time-consuming solution (I made this, translate the official ME JB + official ME ICS rom's from English to Hungarian):
You decompile the main apps (framework-res, moto-res, blur-res, system, setup, phone, chinamms, browser, etc... cc. 20 app) translate the .xml files, put this in the res/values-in and recompile the apps. - it"s realy hard, but the earlier ME ICS probably has italian language support, If I remember correctly, and those files may help.
Hi guys,
Recently I bought couple of MTK based Smartphones from China, but I didn't realise they are coming with Chinese and English only. I have the language files that I want to import, but I am not sure how exactly I am supposed to include them into the ROM. I believe that I need to decompile, add the new language files and compile the ROM again, but I am not exactly sure how. I do not want to download already compiled multilanguage roms, but do one on my own, keeping all the original software that comes with the phones and only including couple of additional languages.
I am willing to make a small donation to the one who takes the time to explain everything to me step by step
Thanks in advance.

if I got you right, then first try to implement your language readability. for this:
1) copy your language font into /fonts directory
2) add font entry into /etc/fallback_fonts.xml
...(see already present lines of code to get an idea)
3) restart your phone
4) open a web page in your language to see if it is readable.
Hi all my friends,i menaged to port the Maxx Audio Effects to all(?) mediatek Platform, the peculiarities of this porting is that I've used mtk specific libraries and not an adaptation of Qualcomm ones...
Tested on Umi Zero with KitKat and 6592 processor..

can this be flashed through stock recovery or will we need a custom one...?
also maybe flashify as well...have you tested flashing with this app
edit: will test flashing it with flashify now...gimme a sec
second edit: flashify just constantly downloads the file without doing anything so a no go for that
third edit:rashr doesn't even see the .zip either

Must be flashed in custom recovery mode (twrp or cwm) ...
just tried this and although it does improve the sound, headphone quality on the umi zero is terrible, also this is not the full app as there are only 5 toggles...will you be attempting to improve it and add the other 5 toggles
Install Failed
I am trying to install the zip via recovery, I am getting 'Installation aborted' message, can you please advise?

hello friends,
My problem - I want everything in spanish in this i747m s3, this phone comes with only french, english and other character language,
I tried ALL ROOT APPS changing system locale, like morelocale, language enabler etc etc etc but none of them is changing system language to spanish
I then decided to install slimrom but it required TWRP and TWRP is not mounting my device storage.
Now I don't have any other option to modify stock ROM and add spanish language to that ROM and flash it.
Please tell me how to do it?
I have linux Mint distribution installed on this computer,
I found some link here, which one to follow, please add something if those links are missing some steps to add language in STOCK ROM.
