[9/1][EC09] Removable AM/PM in Ticker and Triple Tap! - Continuum Themes and Apps

Hey guys, long time no post Here's something i threw together a while ago...
This package has everything else I've done, including a couple new stuff. First off, the ticker am/pm is smaller than the actual time, just like the lockscreen. I think it looks more refined, but that may just be me Also, for those who don't need the Am/Pm there, you can remove it! I tied in the function to remove it into Settings (Settings->Date and Time). It will work instantly, without a restart!
A little history: The first project I ever tried to do was adding a double tap function to the weather icon in order to launch the weatherbug app, because i always accidentally launched it (i'm left handed). I tried everything, and eventually gave up. But after learning the skills needed through my other projects, I came back to it a month or so ago from today after more than a year of shelving it, and actually managed to get it to work! I changed my vision a little though along the way, and now triple tapping on the date/time layout screen will launch the calendar app; all the other original functionality changes are still there, like longhold for clockpackage, longhold for weatherbug, and my five icon shortcut menu!
Enjoy (to the one person who will use it )
1) Make sure you are deodexed
2) Make sure you are on EC09!
Thanks!

Make sure that you are on a deodexed rom, and that it is EC09!
and let me know if it works for you! I could've easily made a mistake with putting my package together

Hmmm
Glad that you are back. I have moved on to a SGSIII and relegated my Continuum to a PMP. I love the built in music players ability to move to the ticker. Anything along those lines would be cool.

Oh, sure. I leave, and you figure out how to make a shortcut for g+ on the ticker. Next, you will tell me you figured out how to separate the call to ticker function so it can be used on 3rd party launchers. In all seriousness, good job on this one.
Swyped from the land of unicorn porn

I could put a "shortcut" for G+ on the ticker Not a mesage counter, but a shortcut to it and lol, I never really took a really hard look at that, maybe I should give it another shot

I would. This kind of makes me wish I hadn't sold my continuum. Now that it wouldn't matter if it was out of commission for a day, I might be able to play some. Wow. That was a bubby statement. Disregard.

Hey buddy, been awhile..
But to confirm: I did get a kernel compiled and it booted no prob with all your mods intact

Awesome man, good job! We both made head way today; I just managed to incorporate display rotation into the ticker so when you turn the display, there's the opportunity for a new ticker screen to show! Right now I have it so in portrait the regular ticker is there, but in landscape the sleep mode screen is shown it doesn't have to stop there though, there could be a different screen for both landscape positions! (Like, either way you hold your phone sideways...)

Awesome so depending on kernel patch/port we may be able to include ticker I found all the kernel drivers for the ticker. Screen resolution as well as softkeys can be rewritten (nothing soon lol)

[Proof of Concept] Tweaked Notifications Window Appearance - Coming Soon?

So, while I've been heavily busy with work lately, as some of you may know, I've had ready for release an inverted notifications panel (white text on dark background, instead of the default black text on light background), but in addition to this, I've been playing with the idea of removing the top "Carrier" section all together, in order to make way for the display of more notifications, be it ongoing, completed, etc.
The problem with removing the carrier display text section is that it also contains the 'clear' button when present, so the 'clear' button would have to be relocated, but where? My thought is, the clear button only appears (dynamically) when there are 'notifications' to clear, so why not tie the 'clear' button to this section explicitly, so that when not present, no extra space is unnecessarily taken up in the notifications window.
So, Here is an example I came up with that I think works quite nicely. Since the 'clear' button is not part of additional content (right aligned to the carrier text), it would look silly just pushed to the right, so I made it a 'bar' that fills the entire row just below the 'Notifications' banner.
EDIT: See here for demo video progress report for latest iteration of 'clear' button location.
First screen shot is maximized space when no clear-able notifications are present:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
While the second screenshot contains the re-located 'clear' button/bar dynamically, when applicable:
Not sure if anyone has already done this or not, but I thought it was pretty cool. Any interest out there for this?
(Yes Please!)
this looks pretty tight. maybe do a cm-like thing so you can swipe sideways to individually get rid of notifications... but that would be pretty damn hard. great work again js... you are the man!

When an official Gingerbread hits for the EVO is when I will revisit incorporating the new Gingerbread based CM7 widgets.
For now, I'm still working off the 3.70 based Froyo ROM, with the main question here is opinions on re-taking the space from the top of the window, and moving the clear button down.
The more I use it, the more I'm liking it, btw...
I will be following this. Development at its best.

I've toyed around for awhile removing the carrier banner but never could come up with a great usable place to put the "Clear".
What would it look like if you placed the "Clear" button inside of "Notifications" section header? Reducing the width and right aligning.
Just thinking outloud.
As usual, you're pushing the envelope
Thanks again.

I think that would be a good place as well. However, without seeing it put in to actuality it's hard to say for sure if I would like it there. But nevertheless, I think that's a great idea to maximize space savings!
And to Js... I'll be patiently awaiting the downloadable awesomeness MOD!

My original thought was to do this as well.
The problem is, in implementation, is that the "Notifications" title bar is a TextView that spans the width of the window (fill_parent), and the 'clear' button is a TextView as well, and you can't place one TextView inside another.
So, I created a new LinearLayout, gave it the header background (in my screenshot the blue background), and dropped the "Notfications" textView left aligned and the 'clear' button textView right aligned, and on initial load, it's all good (you don't see any of it), and when a clearable notification occurs, it displays perfect, but once you hit the 'clear' button, the space now inserted for the "Notifications" text and "clear" button remains, since they are now children of the new LinearLayout, which is problematic. I'm thinking this could be addressed through code hacking, but I wanted to try and avoid that if possible.
I'm still trying to come up with a creative solution to place the button where you mention, but do so without requiring some framework surgery. Just don't know if it is possible...
really cool idea, in for progress
thanks JS, you guys are always thinking outside the box
This is really cool man. I'm totally stoked for this. Thanks for your genius as usual dude.

Screen shot? Come out and say it? I don't intend on downloading an entire rom just to see something, lol.
But, for fun, I went the code hacking route (which I'm guess, based on your post, coded something similar), and got it working very nicely.
Problem is, going this route, causes everyone to have go redo all their stuff if they want to use, which I'm not a fan of...

[Theme] SteamPunkish theme, initial release. Feedback Requested

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I have spent many a sleepless night working on this and it is a few boredom filled days away from initial release, but far from completion. I am looking for feedback! If you don't like something, tell me and I'll look into it.
This started out being a Steampunk theme, and I think keeps the basics of it, but is not full out Steampunk.
It will be for most roms using the VillainTheme system, not theme chooser. There will not be a battery % displayed in the status bar, just the images as normal.
BEFORE YOU POST, CHECK THE SECOND POST FOR THINGS I'M CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIX / EDIT.
Pay no attention to the LauncherPro dock and icons at the bottom and let us begin...

Downloads
SteamPunk Initial release, still a lot of work to do. Flashable, should work with most 2.3.x roms.
Random Wallpapers that I think go with the theme.
Market Link to a free LWP that looks ok.

Things I'm trying to fixImage #1
Make the on / off icons bigger. Also some of the on / off buttons are not made yet, I forgot about those
Image #3
The USB stick is colored when you mount your SD card.
Image #4
Same as #1, maybe make the background more see through.
Image #5
Add a background image to the dialer. Probably leather.
Working with Mister Hat to make another dialer.
Image #6
Align icons
Image #7
Align icons
Image 8
This image is to show you the change to the desk clock, I don't like the time bars.
Misc
Also changed a couple of icons. What do you guys think; change them automatically or let you change them using adw or whatever?
Code:
8/23/11 Uploaded initial test release.
Suggestions so far:
Rounded corners on tabs.
Get rid of antique phone icons.
The maindock area reminds me of starcraft
Antique phones
I don't dig the antique phone icons, especially the grey one used in image #5 for the phone tab / dialer.
Also, I think you should make rounded corner tabs instead of black/white gradient.
Looking forward to it.
Yeah I agree, I loved the colorized theme.. this one would be something I'd rock in my late 60's.

It's greyed out because that tab is selected. Also this pic was taken early, it's not b&w gradient, it's all tan. I'll add new photos in the morning.
Also I'll look into the rounded corners. Don't know how to do that yet....

Sweet man! Right now I can't think of anything, but if you are inspired to make anything, standard icons (I don't plan on theming app icons), or whatever. Let me know and I'll throw them in.
Keep up the good work...
I"m also looking into what files draw that button bar at the top of the contacts dialer. I couldn't find it by just looking at the .9.pngs, so next I"ll dig through the xml and find what drawables in calls to make that.
I'm getting the feeling that it may be in framework-res, though...if I find it, I'll share with ya.
It is in framework-res, I can't remember the names off the top of my head, something tab selected and unselected. Thanks man.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It looks like it's the tab_focused .9's in framework...if you change the shape of that, you'd have to know what else uses that drawable.
However, there is tab_pressed_bottom and such, in Contacts that will dictate a colored bar underneath your tabs when one is pressed.
I didnt' have much success changing the shape of the tabs...I mean, I can change the shape of them, but it just didn't look as good as I had hoped.
So what I did instead on mine, was made the tabs transparent...and then layered up the icons how I wanted them to look. That way, I can make the tab look any way I want.
Here's an example. I am toying around with the idea of making a rounded corner red border to each tab, something like what I attached.
I didn't mean to hijack your thread, I'm just hoping to be nearly as helpful to you as you were to me in the past.
It'd be pretty sweet to use this in the dialer.

[2/28][Trailblazer101] (Awesome) Ticker Modification Package!

Trailblazer101's Ticker Modification Package!
Hey All, finally decided to release this package of mine
Before I begin, I'd like to share that this should be flashed on a plain EC09/EC07 rom, deodexed and all... I would prefer if you tried it on EC07 clean, and if you try it on Miunia and it doesn't work, that's why It replaces almost all of the Framework files, for compatibility, but I'll guess we'll see
What this Mod Does:
-removed unnecessary "0" in front of times below "10"
-Holding down on the date/time acts as a button, with customizable text taking the place of the date, and the color of the time changing... When released, two different things could happen: If screen is off, then it'll unlock the phone; if its on, then it'll open the Clock Package!
-Now, to open up the WeatherBug program from the Weather Icon, you must hold the icon down until the beautiful overlay appears... Then release, and it'll open! This prevents accidental bumps, which happened to me all the time... [I'm left handed ]
-Long-Pressing the "Missed Notification" icons will open up the given screen, whether you have any notifications or not! Very Handy
-The New Event Ticker Screen, including the New Message, Email, and etc, now behaves like the RSS Ticker Screen--Adding a Nice blue color when touched, to indicate it has been...
-Also my "Blue-Wave" Mod with "New Events" is in there too
-New, easier to look at StandbyView format... I like it lots Matches what the boot animation looks like, which i always loved
-In Ticker Music View, the Song name now scrolls when it is too big! Nice little touch *Will not scroll when the music is paused, and you then skip songs, and after for the first song after minimizing the "MusicPlayer" app... (Because you should've already of seen the full title!)
-Quick Launch Menu! Hold down the "Ticker History Button" from anywhere (*as long as Ticker Music Screen isn't active with Music Playing) to launch the Quick Launch Menu! These icons provide an easy way to get to your favorite, predetermined (Sorry, ) programs.. Pressing the Close button will do just that
-Standby Screen! Have you ever been in your room, dark as could be, with "Screen Filter" on to lower the brightness of the screen, but then you notice that the ticker is not affected, and your eyes begin to water ? Maybe it's not that extreme, but if you hold down the close button revealed after holding down the Ticker History Button, you are greeted with a black screen with some clickable gentle-to-look at text. Clicking the text will bring you back to the normal screen!
- Completely Redone "Return to Call" Mod is included! Now includes four buttons, Return To, Mute, Speaker, and End the Call Buttons are completely working, with notification light indicating that they are on! This took me a longggg timeee to do, a project that has been going on for at least a year, on and off... It took so long, because I had to completely incorporate the speaker and mute buttons into the phone, because what if you push the speaker button from the status bar, and not the ticker? Everything needed to be linked... I edited Phone.apk, framework.jar, framework-res, and services.jar in order to get it to work perfectly, like it does today

any chance you can make the clock on the Ticker centered? Always bugged me to see it off-center right above the Samsung logo that is nicely centered, especially when the ticker history button and weather buttons are removed.
Yeah, I could do that probably
Just because you don't have any new messages, missed calls, emails, voicemails, or IMs doesn't mean the icons in the Missed Notification Screen should go to waste Why not make it so tapping them opens up their respective apps anyways, making a quick, convenient shortcut Oh, and the Voicemail icon is remapped to Google Voice

i manage to make stausbar dissappear when editting the wrong things lol, so i was wondering what all would we be able to mod in the soft key area? like could we use that 142x400 line or what not to show statusbar? and use rss button realistate to call on softkeys in ticker for a slightly bigger screen.
just thought of if at 4am while working on zimage repacking all night
Or maybe set search as expand statusbar.

just thought of if at 4am while working on zimage repacking all night
Or maybe set search as expand statusbar.
What do you think buddy?

Well, I have been trying to modify the softkey area for a while now.. What I personally wanted to do was allow rotating of the softkey icons What I saw when trying to do that though was the kernel and services.jar working together to display the softkeys/set their functions...
To answer your question, kinda, I will throw out my thoughts. 1) Because of the "gray screen overlay" overtop of the softkey area, it'll make the statusbar 'dulled' down, which would probably turn everyone off (including me )... 2) If we did manage to move it down there, there would be the ultimate problem of 'expanding' it then, since the softkey/main/ticker screens are all declared as separate screens, and moving in between them in one swoop isn't really possible. 3) The code to display the notification bar is within framework-res, while the code to display the softkeys is within the kernel/services... So being able to swap the functions from the notification down to the softkey area won't be (easily) possible...
But, your last comment might just be do-able... Actually, what would be even more doable would be having a 'button' in the ticker that would 'show/hide' the notification bar... That's because the functions for the softkeys are pre-set at /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl, and I wouldn't know where to start adding a custom one ...
EDIT: are you looking to hide the notification bar on just the homescreen, or everywhere???
EDIT EDIT: I came up with two adb commands for implementing hiding/showing the statusbar EVERYWHERE... Looking to incorporate it now in java...
i kinda figured kernel issues cause of the 3 screen issue.
well ive been messing with repack kernel and got one repacked with su and busy box and actually turn boot ani off, (for quickboot). looking to add init.d as soon as i revert back to stock to test rooted kernel and get statusbar back.
since i havent had a statusbar for a couple days i was enjoying the bigger screen and thinking of a statusbar button (pulldown), or what not
any and evrything (discussion etc) is appreciated.
Wait, you successfully compiled a kernel for gingerbread? Or you just modded what we had?!
And I managed to make an app that will turn on/off the statusbar everywhere for our phone, and I managed to take the code and get it work inside the ticker... However, what would you like the 'activation' method be? Getting rid of the 'Ticker History Button' function, and instead setting it as the source for enabling/disabling the statusbar? Or a button somewhere in the ticker, (like where the sleep mode usually is), that does it?
Or has this side-tracked into something you aren't interested in, hahah

I can add the triple tap function no problem, but you gotta pick out the icon you want, haha.. You can either have just one image, or two, either works for me!

Awesome. Had to start from stock again.... it sucks when I had a great hacked kernel, then I didn't back it up before I hackeed another zimage in the same folder to replace it

So to anyone using it would you like an option rather than to display date you could also choose from something like "Today, 5 hours ahead" ?
Also thoughts about something like this for displaying time rather than traditional numbers?
New update:
Added a date preference in settings where rather than show date next to time it will display as something like Today, yesterday, tomorrow and hours behind/ahead. See screenshot:

Thanks! Hope you like it
I like it.
And here is my first impression.
Simple and easy use, which is good.
First time starting, it takes a bit for the "processing", maybe you want to consider renaming that to something like "Initialising first use or start or ..." this way a user won't get impatient nor wonders if that will now happen everytime.
I like that it asks to choose a color for the picked city, that is good, maybe you can also add custom color at some point.
Also I would rename "duration calculation" to "days since".
The widget is cool since it switches from city to city. Maybe later you can add custom duration times.
One thing about the widget is that the text is small compared to widget size.
At some point I would also add a dark theme.
So I hope you like my review/thoughts/impressions.
All in all is this a great app, especially for people travelling allot or who have work with people in different time zones.
Will continue using it and keep you posted on my impressions.

Thanks, glad you like. Yeah you are probably right about changing that to something like Initializing database. Definitely want to do a dark theme and add more widgets too!
Updated with time zone converter
BTW, anyone think of some useful tools I can add?
Updated with a week number calculator. Enter a week number and year and get back the start date
Update:
I've added a pin local time option in settings. With this you can pin current local time to the top of the list or set your own time zone and use that instead.
Hi,
This looks interesting, thanks for all the work so far, but would you be able to provide some screenshots of the widgets in action? I would only ever use the widget, I'd probably never use the actual app other than the initial set up... (though it does look really nice!)

Thanks, I've installed it but for some reason I cannot resize the widget down, seems it can't go smaller than 2 rows. Is this by design, or a bug, or just a problem on my phone? I'm using Xperia home launcher, with an xposed mod to set the grid to 6x5, and allows me to resize any widget to any size - and it's working fine with other widgets, I can make them anywhere between 1x1 and 6x5 without problems.

Yeah that is how it is for now. Shouldn't be a problem in an update though to allow resizing
Would anyone using the app find any of the tools on this page useful?

New update, filling a couple of requests:
Tools>Seconds to days,hours,minutes,seconds
Change color from main screen rather than recreating a clock
