I have a at&t Samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket i727 and once I connected to kies it tells me my phone does not support software update via kies I'm on stock 2.3.6 never rooted or flash any rom I'm wondering if when at&t rolls out ics how will I be able to update via kies if its says I can't update via kies and I don't think it will be a ota update since I'm sure the update will be to large to do ota does anyone else have this issues? Or does any one have an answer.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Odin version will be up on sammobile within hours, and a rooted and stock base within hours as well. Plus we already have official Rogers ics, aokp, cm9.
You can manually run it in kies anyways.

Don't really want to root unless I know I can return to stock and can't find my firmware version on samfirmware. Any ideas?

Nevermind, I see its just appeared on Samfirmware this morning.
So like the title suggests, when I connect my 7.0 plus to my pc and open up kies, I can't update it to ICS. Also the tablet was purchased in Nigeria (as a gift) and sent to me here in the United Kingdom. I've put in the T-mobile sim from my old phone and still I can't update to ICS.
Any help would be much appreciated
The model is the GT-P6200 with Wi-fi+3G
You can go to sammobile page and download ICS firmware..then flash it trough Odin...

Okay, but which country? Should I download the united kingdom firmware seeing as my Carrier is T-mobile(uk)?
I have the ATT skyrocket rooted and unlocked when I first got the phone in 2011, and is on 4.04. I remember that the post said that I must unroot if I want to upgrade the rom OTA from ATT. Is there any other way to upgrade to the latest stockrom without unroot? I cannot find the post I originally referenced to root/unlock.

^^ what he said. Just get the .tar file from sammobile.com and flash using Odin. You will lose root after this process.
If you want to update using kies (the update is not ota. You have to use kies. ) then s long as kies detects your phone and you have a stock recovery, you should be OK.
However, I believe that you will loose your apps and data with both the methids.. So just use Odin

Thank you very much. I should be able to re-root after the upgrade, correct? Or the lastest 4.1.2 cannot be rooted yet?
I have problem with Odin before, never got anything done with it. Let me try it this time.

Yes you can root the new jb using the same procedure as before.

If your rooted why not just flash a stock rom with the newest update. That will save you the trouble of dealing with Odin.

Trouble? Odin is as simple as place file in pda and click start. I don't see any trouble there....

I meant it more of an hassle. Plug in Odin then uproot do the update then reroot. Just seems so much easier to flash a stock base rom.

Why would you unroot to do the update via Odin. I believe your logic is flawed here. Although I do agree an install would be expeditious via recovery, your argument is flawed.

Just FYI - I was on rooted stock, and just did the update with Kies without unrooting. Now i'm on JB unrooted as a result.
been trying to update to 4.1.2 firmware on and off and no luck
all stock no funny business
connect to kies and there is nothing for a update
do they have a odin package available
thanks
The update is done OTA only at the moment. Check for software update in settings.
Not really
I updated mine to 4.1.2 through kies
