Question About Installing AndroidLost Apps - Android Apps and Games

Greetings -Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but here it goes anyway...
I installed the AndroidLost APPS onmy Samsung Fascinate...All went well and I'm able to signon to their website...
However not getting any results when clicking the GPS tab to get the phone's location sent to my e-mail account...
I don't have GPS active on my device(have not yet downloaded the apps for that with the vendor)...
Do I need to have GPS active in order to get the location?...I know it sounds like a silly question, but I was under the
impression that I would be able to get the location via the network & GPS would not be required...Any assitance would
be greatly appreciated...Thank you...

Hello... I am having an issue with GPS and wth email.
GPS.... dosent seem to be working, it looks like it is only triangulating on my location of cell with google maps and gps photo wont connect. Are one of the radios specifically dedicated to GPS? I assume this is the problem because after flashing a rom which changed my radios gps stops working.
With email. everytime I send a message a copy of it is sent directly to my inbox as if i sent the email to myself, a copy also goes to the person I intend to send it to... How do I stop this, cannot find an option for it and it doesnt seem like this is a feature of GMail.
And yes I have read tons of posts on the forum and havent seen any help for this, specifically the email thing... I might be able to get this gps working on my own but help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
GPS will take a loooong time to connect if you are not using QuickGPS periodically (weekly). Check on your last update. I also assume you are telling GoogleMaps to utilize your GPS (main menu) rather than Google's location triangulation. Your radio shouldn't have anything to do with the GPS working. I have flashed virtually every radio and ROM here and never had trouble with GPS.
Please give some more details on your e-mail. Gmail, but are you using the standard mail software? Are you on a Tilt or an HTC branded device? Which ROM? I'm using Gmail with the standard software and have never seen anything like this through many ROMs.
this is the rom: 3.03.405.0 (Radio 1.64.06.04) I have a tilt. I setup the email by clicking setup new email account, then also checked through the options afterwards and theres nothing that indicates it would be sending a duplicate to myself.
Yes i have quick gps and it is updated. It seemed like gps connected with google maps but it took a while ... after clicking get gps (knew you had to do this). When I go to the gps photo it just says initializing GPS... and never does anything else.
Thanks.

I've never used QuickGPS and haven't had a problem. However, I use googlemaps, virtualgps and earthcomber (all free) no problems!

QuickGPS usually runs automatically in the background. I just wanted to assure that McEven had it installed and running. If your GPS isn't taking 5 minutes or so to get your location when first activated, you're using QuickGPS and don't know it. Every GPS uses some sort of ephemeris data updating process to speed up the process of finding your location. If not, your GPS would have to compute the locations of the satellites...which takes a much longer time. Open QuickGPS and see when the last update was. It's almost certainly been updated within the last week. It needs an update of ephemeris data at least every 8 days to be assured of correct data.

From the original website:
View on map
Find the location of your phone on a map. With AndroidLost you can find your phone with GPS precision. Even if the phone is indoor you will get a nearby location by network accuracy.

It does not talk about other network, I suggest you to try other apps like avast (you install it and it ask about the anti theft, after that you can uninstall the antivirus keeping the antitheft, it's free and if you're rooted it can resist to hard reset) or prey (free, open source). Avast can send you an hidden sms with the position of your phone and so do prey. I've also heard about wavesecure and cerberus a lot..
BTW you can determine the position of your phone with 3 things:
-WIFI (must be on an connected to a net, it can be turned on by some application)
-GPS (must be on manually, I think this one can't be turned on by apps)
-you phone network (avast can turn on data connection)
I suggest you to try these different solution to find the best working one for you

[Q] lost galaxy s3, no internet connection on, no security apps preinstalled

hello, everyone!
my bad if this post is misplaced but couldn't really find a good answer to my specific problem.
basically, i lost my sgs3 today. it had no security apps like android lost, lookout etc. installed and neither wifi nor mobile data were on. have installed from my desktop android lost, but since the phone has no internet connection i don't see how this app can ever be pushed onto the phone.
so basically, my question is if there is anything to be done here? perhaps any code or instruction sent by sms that would trigger the mobile data on!!! i don't suppose so!
anyway, whatever you might think of, i'd appreciate any help!
i'll call the gsm provider at some point to deactivate the sim, unless i can find a way first to locate the phone using their network signal.
many thanks!

Hi everybody, after that my first N5 have been stolen I want to protect my new one. I have paid for Where's my droid pro, and tried theftie but the problem is that I don't keep localisation services on for battery reason. I know I can activate data, gps, wifi with theftie but to what I know I cant activate localisation services remotly with these app and it have to be on to use gps right?
So please help me to find a solution to this problem! Is it possible?
Thank you!
try googles device manager app. itll still show location, but not exact location with your gps off. plus you can ring your phone anywhere, wipe your phone from anywhere, and put a message to have the person who finds it call you.
