sensation 4g kernel ... - HTC Sensation

i think this is about kernel issue to solve this... i cant use the flash of my phone and it says, "unable to use due to cold weather"... and when i charge my phone, the status of battery after 20 sec. is "discharging"... please, help... i'am using the latest insert coin rom... or what rom do you preffer? and sometimes it overheats... hope you help me with this issue... thanks

anyone?? pls help me...

Hi, You could do the following (these steps are the usual generic steps worth trying):
1. Try out another battery, to ensure it's not a battery issue.
2. Charge the battery fully and then for an additional 1 hour. Go to recovery and wipe battery stats. See if this helps
3. If step 2 doesn't help, check the firmware version and make sure it's the latest required by your ROM. If not flash the correct firmware
4. If firmware is correct, take a nandroid backup and try flashing a different kernel (like faux, sebastian or bricked kernel)
5. If nothing works, take a nandroid backup and try another ROM (would suggest trying Android Revolution HD).

SOLVED Desire S stuck on splash screen

Got S-OFF yesterday and used gribger break to root the phone and all was well.
Didn't install a custom rom ,but now this morning the phone won't reboot past splash screen and keeps rebooting at splash screen. Is it bricked?
Take the battery off, start the phone with vol - preseed and do a factory reset.
When I go into CWM and try the reset it goes through the motions but upon reboot its still the same problem
Don't go into CWM just do a normal factory reset, if it doesn't work i guess you could put a ROM on the SD and install....anyway your phone is not bricked.
Lol before i got S-off... so with s-on i modified a theme, and i got the phone into a boot-loop, the factory reset solved my problem
Thanks , when do factory reset it seems to tale me to CWM recovery by default? any way round this? .
Also your help is much appreciated
Don't know.... i'm almost as new to this as you are...
Put a stock RUU on your sd card and install it... or a custom one.
before it goes to CWM it seems to flash up an error msg .As far as i can make out it says PG88DIAG.zip no image
Morning, The fact that you can still get into CWM is good,
Is your phone recognised, when you plug in usb?
I suspect that you'll need to run an official Ruu (rom upgrade utility) which you run from the pc.
But first try the following
1) download wipe utility http://bitly.com/kpb0A2?r=bb
2) download custom rom http://bitly.com/jnV3em?r=bb
3) copy both files onto sd card, put card in phone
4) boot phone to CWM
5) use the "flash zip files from sd" option to flash both zips in order above, wipe and then rom
6) then reboot
Good luck
EDIT: don't understand the error message that you're getting haven't heard of that.......
does CWM appear to work though, and the wipe you tried from there worked? Our returned cheerfully and came to with the correct messages?
No When I plug it in to the PC HTC Sync isn't picking it up , going to try your other suggestion Ben
Yeah cwm does appear to work it has the status bar and all
Just d/l the rom now then will try that
Just starting to install the rom now .
Does this take some time ? as install bar does not seem to be moving?
ben_pyett and .sh4d0w. you are both stars and I thank you very much. Got that custom rom installed Ben and everything seems ok.Just need to set the phone up the way I like it again lol.
.sh4d0w. thank you for setting my mind at ease 2 months into a 24 month contract and waking up to what i thought was a bricked phone scared the living S*** out of me .
Panic over .
Hopefully I will be able to pass this info on to anyone that needs it in the future
No problem.. glad i could help.
I'm also on a 24 month contract (22 left ), but i just couldn't resist to s-off my phone and try a new rom
Same here even though I was more than happy with it .
Ben one more quick question then i'll leave you be. Do I need to keep the rom zip on the memory card after i have installed it ?

Very glad to be able help to a positive outcome and Very happy that you got it all sorted.
If you intend to stay on that ROM, (I like it) then I'd recommend that you also apply the following (which should all applied via flash from zip option from SD card)
UNITY V2=[SENSE 2.1][OC/UV][CIFS/TUN][SLQB][V(R)][2WCR] V2
later version of kernel that comes with the base rom (kernel updated since rom released)
4EXTRecovery v2.0.2 RC2
which is a re-worked version of CWM (improved, easier to use with more options ) - would recommend this as it currently has great support and is updated very regularly.
There is also the option to install the Engineering (ENG) HBOOT, which is an improved bootloader that gives you more options which are useful in advanced recovery situations. Although I don't know the implications of using it with AlphaRex but believe that there's a thread specifically about this which I'd suggest that you read.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161158
[A] you don't need to leave the ZIPs on the SD card but they do no harm there, I find that it's useful to leave them there, I always leave the ROM that I'm running on on my card - in case I experience any problems.
There is also the option the flash new radio, but this is very much user, location and network specific so only do so if you're having problems.
You may need to re-calibrate you battery having moved to new the ROM see instructions on SAGA thread, see how battery usage is first.
The only bug that I know of in LBC ROM is the ADVANCED POWER MENU (which you get by long hold on power button)->RESTART-> HOT RESTART hangs the device requiring battery removal - so don't use it!
Thanks for the tip .do you know if this is overclocked by default and if so to what speed ?

it has the ability to be Overclocked, but isn't out of the box, and in my opinion unless you're a gamer, probably it isn't needed, it will just burn more battery
do not install setCPU as this disables the O/C daemon
sleep: min 245MHz / max 368MHz / conservative
wake: min 245MHz / max 1017MHz / ondemand
- > everything can be changed with a text editor in /etc/virtuous_oc
If you intend to stay on this ROM then I suggest that you read the whole thread, so as not to ask questions that have been answered already
ROMS also due an update any time soon.
Read and understood and onceagain many thanks .Gonna read the thread calmly this morning

[Q] Phone shuts down.

My phone shuts down all by it's self once or twice a day. It occurs on multiple roms. I really want to find out why. Can someone tell me how I can log wat happens?
Since I don't know when and why it shuts down I would likely need a logger wich writes to a log file so I can look back what the problem is.
I suspect it to be a hardware problem... (Don't hope so but it happens on multiple roms)
Thanks everybody
What kernels have been used with the roms?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
The used kernels were default kernels of the roms I used. Problem started wen using CM7 alpha. and now using Android Revolution with Faux123

I had the same problem before, I changed my kernel to bricked 0.91 and the problems are gone now.
I'm downloading Insertcoin rom now. I'll report back if the problem still occurs.

Change kernels. Go from 1.5ghz to 1.2 via daemon controller or another CPU adjuster.
The bricked 0.91 also fixes most issues too as stated above

Before you suspect Hardware.. Check first your software.. I'f i were you, i'll back up all my roms.. full / super wipe, then check it on by one.. lets say IC for first 2 days then ARHD on the 3nd-4th day.. If it does not shut down, it only means one thing, its not HARDWARE, it can be software.. Check also your chosen Kernel on your flashed ROM.. there might be an incompatibility running multiple different roms and kernels..
hope i'd help.. click thanks if i enlighten you so far..
Okay, I'm back from a weekend away.
What I did before I went away (Friday afternoon) is:
- Reboot to Recovery
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe data
- install zip: Super-wipe (just to be sure)
- Install zip: InsertCoin 3.3.0
- install zip: InsertCoin 3.3.1
It all went well until Saturday evening. It was off when I got it out of my pocket. i tried to turn it on and it booted up. If it is on there is no problem at all. It stays on all the time...... Until I unlock my sim with my personal code. 2 seconds atfter that the phone turns off...
Since the problem reoccurred I tried the following things:
- Wipe cache, reboot (problem still exists)
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, reboot (problem still exists)
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data, reboot (problem still exists)
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data, Super-Wipe, re-install rom, reboot (problem still exists)
Is there a way to test the hardware to rule it out? The problem occurred in three different roms and got worse. I really can't see how this could be a software problem.
I'm now going to download the latest stock rom and see what happens...
I had the same problem I'm on tmobile sensation 4g in the us and I think all us sensations have the problem... When I was using any rom that was based on the experimental sense 3.5 base my phone would turn off/crash I tried all different Roms but the problem still occured, I though about it and installed revolution hd with sense 3.0 and still on the old base and the problem is gone. I'm waiting for the official release of the new sense 3.5. Hope it helps
I had the problem on 3.5 and non 3.5 based roms. CM7, Android revolution XE, android revolution sense 3.5 and Insert Coin XE sense 3.5. The last one I mentioned was the worst and I even couldn't get past the security code.
I now installed a shipped Rom. Let's see what happens.
In my first post I asked if there was a log file in which I can see why it shuts down. can anyone shed a light on that?

I am having the same problems. I tried all of the same roms you have tried and as of last week I have decided to unroot my phone and return it to stock rom and recovery. after a week I am still getting the same random reboots. the only non stock part of my phone is that it is still S-Off, but I think im going to have to learn how to put stock S-On and go yell at the T-mobile guys to see if I can get a new phone.
If you can come up with anything better I would be willing to try it. the reboots are killing me.
This issue sucks. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has it though lol. I've also gone back to stock rom, no root/S-ON etc. Just to rule out the possibility that it's something funky going on with custom roms, kernels etc. So far I do still have random shutdowns, possibly a little less than I did before, but still there nonetheless. To get S-ON again, flash the RUU appropriate for your phone, then get into fastboot and type
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
and then
fastboot reboot-bootloader
More on all this is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201773
As far as logs to track down what is going on, I think it might be in lastkmsg. Unfortunately I don't know exactly where to find that or what to look for exactly.
And as stated twice before me, the problem still exists. I'm going to undo all changes to the Sensation and see what happens. If the problem is still there the phone will go back for warranty.
And again my old trustworthy HD2 saves the day as a backup...
I've never experience having a reboot with a super wipe then flashing a custom rom.. i do it almost everyday.. maybe its already a hardware since software installation (roms, and kernels) are clean when you do the flashing.. Has your phone experience some accidents? like fell on the ground?
Not that I know of.
I'm not new to flashing and I'm a real flashoholic. Nothing ever went wrong with flashing. Where other people would have problems with a certain ROM I could always enjoy the Rom without trouble.
I installed the eu version of the shipped roms. the problem seems to be different again. Nof it shuts down far less then before but I have to pull the battery to get it to boot up again.
I hope I have enough time today to S-on the phone. Does anybody know if the box states which version number it was shiped with? I know it's EU but there are different version numbers. (or is that not impotant)
Thanks for your help everybody.
I think the problem is the battery. I bought a new battery, the evo3d batery and so far I have not had this issue again.
Problem is solved. I got a free board swap and now everything is working again. So it was a hardware defect.
Thanks for the help all.

Factory Reset

I've been experiencing the same battery jumps that others have (randomly turn off, battery drops, turning off and then having more battery etc etc)
I was wondering if I can factory reset with S-off.
Are there any files that I need or anything to do a correct factory reset.
What is it you mean by factory reset?
The wiping of all data etc or wiping and returning the ROM you got the phone with?
Edit: Either way both are possible with S-OFF
Sorry for the poorly worded question?
I've been having so many issues with battery drain, random turns offs, battery resets I just want to turn the phone back to the way it was when i got it out of the box.
Stock Kernal, Stock Firmware, Stock OS.
Is there a thread or ROM that I need to look at?
its all in the first post but a way down - read very carefully my friend
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
What ROM, firmware, radio etc are you currently running?
Check Settings > About phone
You should be able to find most info there, radio version will be called baseband.
Rom: ARHD 4.1.3 by mike1986
Firmware: I believe its 1.17 but im not sure
Android Verison 2.3.5
Kernel Version: Sebastian Faux 0.2.8
Radio Version: 11.65.3504.00P
Build Number: 2.08.401.1 CL
Im also running OSX a lot of the guides im reading have information for PC's so dont think I havent done any research im just a little lost.
Some of the issues you will be having will be due to that ROM being in beta,
also I see your using the radio from the latest ICS RUU leak which is not the recommend radio to be using with that ROM.
If I was you I would attempt to flash the stable version of the ARHD ROM HERE
Ensure you read the post carefully and follow each step. I would recommend having SuperCID before flashing the firmware and super wipe before flashing the ROM.
And make sure you use the recommend radio also clearly pointed out in the post.
EDIT:
If you have issues flashing the radio as described by mike1986 have a look here and download a flashable .zip for the following radio, which you can then flash from your recovery
10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
If all that seems to scary it may not have been such a good idea to jump in the deep end. Take a look at running an RUU as mentioned already in this thread information can be found HERE at the bottom of the first post
As always ensure you are 100% sure and happy you know what you are doing and double check everything before you do anything, as any of these processes done incorrectly could brick your phone
Nah none of that seems scary, ive flashed roms and firmwares and kernels before I just wasnt aware of the radio problem. Ill try to flash the radio and report back.
EDIT:
I wasn't aware that ARHD 4.1.3 was a beta.
Can I flash the radio without using ADB I had issues setting it up on my Mac

In my last reply I included a link to a flashable version of the radio. Good luck and let us know how you get on
So everything seemed to go well.
I flashed the old radio and the stable version of ARHD.
My phone was going great for about 4 hours.
Then bam the battery died and when it rebooted it had 8% battery, before it died it had near almost half, looking at the battery graph I can see a part when the graph has a straight line, which im pretty sure isnt right
im charging it now but im not sure what the issue could be.
Still considering a reflash to factory, but im not even sure that would work.
Any help would be more than appreciated.
Thank you.
I had this issue when I just flash a Rom.... Try to discharge it all the way down then charge it full to 100%... Be sure its 100% not the green led indicator... When you're fully charge just wipe the battery cache....
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats
See but how do I know that its actually completely discharged when it can get low die and then I turn it back on and its at 50%
The same for knowing when it is fully charged?
I dont want to calibrate the battery when it is not perfectly being read.
I tend to leave it on charge throughout the night and then as mentioned wipe the battery stats. Once you have done that if its stable use the ROM for a good few days to a week and the battery will sort its self out

[Error 120] low main battery

I am trying to flash the original ROM to my phone but everytime it gives Error 120 main battery low.
The battery is fully charged, green indicator and also shown 100 on current widget.
BTW i use Anker Battery as an alternate backup, but I have tried flashing with both batteries but it gives same error.
Currently I am on stock ROM with Hboot 1.18.0000 and S-on.
Cannot do s-off, therefore want to reflash the original ROM with lower Hboot.
I had rooted earlier successfully but had return to stock for some warranty issue
current ROM : India official stock ROM Gingerbread 1.52.720.3
Can anybody help please

[Q] Custom ROM always bricking

Hi there, I have been trying for countless hours to make a custom ROM work on my P920 with no results, always some issues. I've managed to brick my phone in different ways a billion times now, then spent billion hours unbricking it and in the end I'm always back to where I started. I would really love some help please.
My phone is P920.
The android version I'm running is: 2.3.5
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7+
Software version: V21E
Rooting method: megatron
Now I would like a ROM that uses Android 4 and that can still use the 3D features such as 3D camera, the ROM calledthe Darkroom International would be an example I imagine.
While that's one of the ROMs that I would want, I've tried many, and always encountering issues, let me clarify.
First of all my device has to be rooted and since SuperOneClick doesn't work for me as it gets stuck on step 7, I use megatron which works well. I even double check if my phone is rooted with the Root Checker from the Android store. Now according to the guides I've read I need a custom recovery system, so I install Clockworkmod. I then place the ROM on the SD card, in the recovery menu I delete cache, that other cache, format it, format system, data, everything those guides tell me to. Afterwards, I install the ROM by selecting the zip and then I reboot. I've tried like 3 different ROMs, jellybem, cyanogenmod and some other. Yes I know none of them support 3D features - I didn't know at the time. Anyway, the issue was always the same, right after the LG logo there would be a screen with some weird colors showing the display of what happened before the phone crashed. Before it crashed? Yes, the phone would actually boot into the ROM but only for a few minutes, crashing afterwards. The next time I would boot, it would show that weird screen with those fancy colors with what happened just before it crashed. So I followed some steps and I got back to the original 2.3.5 ROM, everything back to normal.
I tried doing some more research and I came across the Darkroom Intentional ROM which had a bit different instructions. It asked me to install TWRP recovery with a bootloader, so I did, successfully, then did all the clean cache etc, installed ROM, bam, wouldn't boot at all. Oh boy have I had issues here, I couldn't even get it back to the default 2.3.5 stock ROM because my phone wasn't even recognized in the device manager. So I did some more research, found a solution, managed to flash back to 2.3.5 stock and I'm back to square one.
Now, could someone please help and explain to me what exactly have I done wrong and how I can make it right? I've spent countless hours now trying to install a custom ROM with no success. Sorry about the long read. If you need me to supply some more information please let me know. Thank you.
First of all if u want to use an ICS ROM then u need to update to ICS FIRST u can't flash it directly from 2.3.5 u can use xbsalls thread to update......
Next if cm based Roms are crashing then u need to flash bootloaders which means u should use os_hacking tool to flash ICS bootladers if u wanna update
Or flash GB bootloaders
So first update if u want
Root
Flash bootloaders
Flash recovery
Flash Roms
