Can't move frame edges in any browser - Asus Transformer TF700

In both TF201 and TF700 frame edges can't be grabbed with the curser and moved in any of my browsers. Is this typical of all Android systems, or maybe an ICS issue? It is really a pain if this is how it is supposed to be.

Are you trying to "resize" the browser?? If so, Android is not a windowed OS, so that'll never work (unless you use an app called OverSkreen - its a windowed browser for Android)...

My wife interacts with a browser based application as a part of her job; it has a dialog box for text entry that she can grab the edge of with the cursor and drag the edge to make the dialog larger. This works on all Windows and Linux browsers but none of the regular Android browsers seem to support grabbing and moving the edge of a dialog box. Have tried both TF201 and TF700 ICS tablets. Haven't tried it with an i*ad yet.

Like the man said, try Overscreen or one of the other floating browsers. That will do what you want.

Overskreen works to adjust the size of the browser window but it doesn't allow you to grab the frame edge of an embedded dialog box and stretch or shrink the dialog within the browser. Still looking for a solution.

If your trying to run the same application and certain functions aren't working through this device, then I'm afraid that your out of luck. This is Android OS not Windows, Linux. Your more then likely to get it from a Windows based tablet for a more complete PC experience.
.........
You can try changing the UA setting to Desktop but not likely going to get the result you desire.
IPAD, I doubt you will get any better results that your looking for. That's moving away even further from a more PC experience.

Dolphin Browser HD2 *Pre launch version added*

Did you hate the speed of Dolphin Brower? Was it kinda sluggish, and gave you a headache?.. Well yea, I am not here to save you from your headaches...
..However..
Dolphin Browser HD2 is coming tommorow according to Androidtapp, it brings the following features along with it:
Androidtapp.com said:
Key New Feature Enhancements in Dolphin Browser HD2:
-One of the biggest advantageous you’ll notice is the speed of the browser and how it controls. The other advantage is user interface enhancements and creative interface controls.
-In v1.2 and lower when you slide the screen from left to right your windows management panel appears, this has been opted for Bookmarks & Most Visited websites. Window management can now be found in Add-ons toolbar by longpress and sliding that panel down.
-Browse the web in Full screen.
-When you slide from right to left the installed Add-ons toolbar appears (oh, don’t forget to grab the AndroidTapp.com RSS Add-ons).
-Lastly, there are new add-ons like Adblocker, Password Manager (super convenient), and Screen Cut.

I have been using the default browser lately since it seems to meet most of my needs, but maybe this will change things. Though, I said the same about the first version..
I've been using Dolphin HD for a while and really like it, but it was slightly sluggish and lacked some basic user interface features. This could really be a contender for Fennec on Android if it gets a decent amount of attention from the extension devs.
Looks WAY improved over HD1. Can't wait.
Looks awesome! Hopefully it's comparable in speed with the Froyo stock browser. HD1 was just unusable because of its sluggishness.
It should be out today ?
Looks amazing , especially the adblock plus add-on .
=/ Yeah I can't find it anywhere; is HD2 already out?
will hd2 just be an updated version of dolphin HD ?
so that i will get an update notify on market?
or is it a complete new browser?
Give me an option to remove the tab bar and I'll use it! I like all my screen real estate, the tab bar annoys me.

Same question here.
Why don't you guys try the pre launch version that's posted in the OP?
I'm trying it already. It seems quite different from the previous dolphin HD.
Still no "on demand" for flash plugin though.
seems to be released
and it's updated to the normal dolphin
i really like that the URL bar is now hidden by default and only shown while using the menu key, more space!
yeah, its released.
HD2 is just a normal update from V1, you can get it straight from the market as an update.
Still no "on demand" option for flash
still dog slow.

yes it does, however it requires froyo with flash player installed.
p.s. i am still finding to way to switch flash on demand just like stock browser of froyo does
Am I the only one seeing no add-ons? I didn't expect them all to be there with it being a pre-launch version but i can't see any
Is anyone else having problems scrolling from side to side? Whenever I try to do so, it activates the swipe features (toolbar and bookmarks).

[APP] Firefox 4 beta 1

Hey guys. Firefox 4 has finally released a beta 1 for android devices. For those who are curious before you try, I figured I would update this with a little information on Firefox for android and what you can expect from this beta. After all, its a huge install
-No flash support yet (yet)
-Pinch to zoom has been added (was left out in alpha builds)
-Swiping to the right on any page brings up your open tabs. This will display windows in a small thumbnail which you can close right from there. You can also start a new tab from this area.
-Swiping to the left on any page brings up a few options. The ability to bookmark, back and forward buttons, along with a settings icon to change settings.
-One big plus of firefox mobile that has been added is firefox sync. This allows you to login and sync your browser information with your Firefox browser on your PC.
-Set font. I thought I would mention this since seemed to have mixed reviews on it. There is a font set in the browser, aside from your current system font. Personally, I don't mind it. Its clear, so it works.
-Add-ons! If you're familiar with Firefox desktop then you're familiar with add-ons. Well Mozilla has brought add-ons to Firefox Mobile as well.
-Find in page / share page links easily accessible from hitting "menu" on any page
-Tapping on the address bar brings up bookmarks / history / desktop tap for easy access. This will keep the address bar highlighted in which you can simply search a keyword or enter a website. If you again press menu while this field is highlighted, Firefox will give you options of sites to search for your keywork. Google / wiki etc.
Keep in mind, this is still a BETA release. It has come a long way since the alpha builds, but doesn't seem quite ready for prime time just yet. Grab it and let us know what you think!
You can grab it here : http://bit.ly/9mBett

Apps 2 SD support is there...so don't worry about the pain it will pass. Won't use as default browser until performance refinements are made as well as user string options and flash support.

i could see it being good after A LOT OF WORK!!!!
look promising, i like the sync option. but it is slow .
using fresh and only fresh
I'm using AvaFroyo9 and the browser seems very smooth, in fact I'de use it as my default if it currently supported flash.
Update: After further testing, it appears to lag when typing in text fields. Also text boxes with drop down menus do not appear as they should.

I used the alpha for a week or so and it was absolute crap.
I downloaded this beta earlier today and it is absolutely the fastest browser I have used on Android (and I have used them all)! It renders perfectly and might become my new fav. I'm an avid Dolphin user, but this might make me switch.
Thus far the potential drawbacks include no flash and doesnt appear to close when you go to another program. (Don't know if that is a battery issue or not as I haven't had it long enough.)
In any case, I recommend checking it out.
Update: I'd still recommend playing around with this browser, but it definitely has a ways to go to catch up to Dolphin. Lots of odd little quirks, like struggles with Swype.

It's not ready for primetime, but it's on the right track imo.
not the fastest browser out there... it actually lags a lil bit more than stock or skyfire in cm6, but not by much, once it renders it is really smooth tho. Im a fan of firefox and i know that when they get to the final release it will probably be the best browser for android. especially with the sync and add-on features
I've tried it out, feels goo to see it there. But not for me lol. I'll look forward to future builds of it. Hope they'll get speed improvements in there.
Tried it and removed. Love FF, but until its more polished I'll stick with Dolphin HD.

[Q] App Switching Gestures?

After using iOS's beta gestures and QNX/WebOS's card switching.. I'm of the opinion that Honeycomb badly needs a way to quickly switch between apps, vs tapping, scrolling and tapping.
Are there any mods/launchers/whatever that enables a quick way to jump between apps?
Thanks.
Pressing the recent apps button is one... but I'm guessing your looking for something else. ;-)
Here's some options:
"Power Strip: Multitasking Dock" (app in market that I had on my phone a while back)
SwipePad seems to be more what you're looking for though. It's in the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android&feature=search_result
Edit: I digress, SwipePad does not seem to support the Transformer for some reason.
Try Wave Launcher... it works for the TF, but is a paid app unlike SwipePad.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mobilemerit.wavelauncher&feature=related_apps
Thanks guys, I'll check them out when I get home.
To help clarify, I'm looking for a way to switch between applications with gestures vs tapping the recent apps list (which, I find organizes apps oddly at times).
On iOS 5 (and in 4.3 beta) there are 4 finger swipes to switch between apps. I have this enabled on my jailbroken iPad and it works wonderfully well.
QNX you swipe from the bezel (can't really be pulled off on the TF, but its an example) to switch easily between apps.
WebOS you swipe up and switch apps.
Ideally, I'd love to see the iOS method as a possibility, it's incredibly quick and smooth. It's about as fast as alt+tab/cmd+tab program switching on desktops. The HC recent apps list is nice visually, but I don't feel like it's a very quick solution.
Anyways, don't take any of this as complaining, I'm just wondering what's out there, and thanks again for the suggestions, I'll check them out.
i was able to get swipepad working on my transformer. I pulled the apk from my phone and sideloaded it on my tablet. It's not optimized for Honeycomb so it doesn't use the entire screen but it worked well without any FCs. Even the Tasking and MorePad addons worked well. Addons available to purchase from market.

i know exactly what ur talking about and unfortunately, none of the apps mentioned do this. they are just like little shortcuts to the app switcher just wrapped around in different UIs. it wont do what u want it to do. im looking for a gesture app that overlays the whole screen and can use 5 fingers to swipe to another app or something of that sort. none of these apps do this.

Ya somebody already posted this last night in this same forum. Anyway it does rock, I immediately uninstalled DolphinHD after trying this, it's pretty dang quick and like the look and feel of it.
Scrolling is still jittery like original dolphin hd compared to default, I hope they activate graphic acceleration on next update
How do you use gesture? The Dolphin HD has the button at the lower left corner you touch to put it in gesture mode. Can't find that anywhere on the Dolphin for tab
I like the interface more than HD but getting some FCs on some addons (xmarks)

I'm using it now and like the way it works.
Youtube speed test shows 30fps, scrolling could be better (slow redraws), there are a few issues when selecting text.
To use gestures press the "triangle in a circle" icon located on the top right and then draw your gesture.
Been using this since yest also... got rid of Dol HD as well. like the feel and speed is not bad. I am a big fan of the stock browser but this could be a good replacement.
accel would be a +.
took me a while to find the gesture button also. I actually think the top right is the best place for it. I think the swipe left and rt with the bk mrk menu coming out on top and a quick tap to get rid of is so much better than sliding the screen over

It's nice, fast and clean. Scrolling isn't too bad. But I still notice keyboard lag, less than on the other 2 browsers I have (stock and Dolphin HD) but it's still there.
Tested flash on yahoo finance, which is an interactive applet I use. It's *fast*
I tried this last night and wasn't too impressed. It crashed on the first launch. Scrolling is not at all smooth like the default browser.
I really like that it automatically imports my bookmarks... that is really intelligent... however, it doesn't maintain the folder structure of the bookmarks, so they end up in one big mess, which kind of makes the auto import a moot point, since a person would have to organize them anyway.
I guess a person could always say "it's a beta"... which would be true... but I can't really see any advantage of this over the stock browser. Just my opinion.
Just tried it right now and the load time is not as fast as Opera Moblie. There is some lag when typing compare to Opera. Overall, for me much better then Dolphin HD. Wish Opera had the font sizes as Dolphin and Default browser. Opera Moblie with bigger font sizes =
Just tried it with youtube on 720p, it runs really well from the browser.
Is there a quick way of getting "history" other than through settings. Having to keep hitting the back button is a bit of a pain.
So is there anything interesting this does that the Stock browser doesn't? It sounds like it's not as smooth as stock.

Right now - not really. There was adblocker plugin but they removed it. Dolphin uses stock browser's ability to view pages anyway (it doesn't have it's own rendering engine). I like the interface of it better than of stock though.
i like the app but it is still in beta . it feel slower to me than the stock browser.
they final add a forward and backward buttion . i hate useing gersture to navigate

Chrome: Need help with configuration

I wasn't using Chrome on my N5 because I was always missing basic features in the android version. For me, a browser has to have a home button and a exit button. Chrome for android doesn't have any of those, at least that's what I was thinking until I recently got an update for chrome on my LG GPad. Suddenly, it was all there. A home button and a small x on the tabs menu to close the browser. Finally! I was excited and updated chrome on my N5 also but it still looked the same as always. I checked the settings but couldn't find any new options.
So to make a long story short: How the hell do I configure chrome on my N5 to get those features?? Check the screenshots, first is from my tablet, second from my N5. It's the same version of chrome so there must be a way.
Why on earth do you need a "home" button? Just set your new tab page to be whatever you want "Home" to be.
As for the "x" to close a tab, it's right in the tab list, which you get to by tapping the little box with a number "1" in it in your second screenshot. There is no list of tabs across the top of the screen like there is on the desktop / tablet version because it's a giant waste of real estate on a small screen.

Yes, but it doesn't exit Chrome as it does on my tablet, it just gives me a blank dark page.

That wouldn't be much of a problem, since it immediatly disappears as soon as you start scrolling.
But I think it's really interesting from a technical point of view. Why does Chrome look different on those devices? It's the same app, isn't it? Or do tablets get a different version from the same playstore link? Some browsers have own versions for tablets in playstore, but not Chrome.

It´s the same app you get on phone and tablet. The DPI triggers if it will show the tablet or phone version. You can change your device's whole dpi to let's say 240 (with WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit for example, doesn't even need root for that), but then everything will be in 240 dpi, which may not be very helpful.
You could try to find an per-app-dpi module for Xposed, and then edit the resolution and dpi values just for chrome, to achieve the tablet-ui.
Thx a lot for this, milestone2mod!
