does the xbox wired controller work? having issues - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, got my OTG cable today and tried plugging in my wired xbox controller. The lights flash on it but its not recognising any button presses. Anyone know if it works?
if not would a cheap USB controller work?

Try using an app called USB/bt joystick center they have a test version.

Xbox/PS3 Controller right stick?

I've been googling for help with this for the past two weeks and coming up with nothing: is there a tweak or setting to enable function of the right analog stick on PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers? Having just the left is fine for cordy, but I need the right for c-buttons on n64oid. Anyone out there have any info on this?

I've had the same problem and haven't come up with a fix yet using my old Six Axis via usb cable. I've been using the a classic wiimote instead for now. Getting ready to try the new Sixaxis controller app to see if it will work better pairing the controller up via bluetooth instead of usb.

I've tried it myself. I works on the same principle as the Wiimote pairing app, except I think it piggybacks on the PS3 controller drivers native to android which leads to the d-pad, right, and left stick all getting treated at the same button presses. The end result, in my testing, was that moving the right stick left triggered a right analog, right-c, and right d-pad all at once, which is problematic to say the least.
Did that explanation make sense?

So even with the sixaxis controller app, you still can't map the right analog stick?

the d-pad, right stick, and left stick all register as a single d-pad, make sense?

Yeah, thanks for clarifying.
By chance what controller are you using, is it a Dualshock 3, or just an older sixaxis or a third party made?
I've tried 2 different sixaxis controllers over usb (Both are from when the ps3 originally came out) and a logitech controller with a dongle, none worked.
I've read in other threads in the forum after 3.1 came out and it seemed like they were lots who it worked fine for, so don't know what they were doing different
The sixaxis controller app has settings that allow for the left and right analog sticks to be programmed separately. The trick is that by default they are set to mirror each other. Just open the app, hit the menu button, go to input settings and scroll all the way to the bottom. I changed my right stick to A, B, C, D so that it didnt interfere with the other buttons.
I have been happily playing Goldeneye 64 with dual analog controls a la Halo for a few days now and love it. I even made a mini setup tutorial if youre interested http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16442843#post16442843
p.s. for what its worth I'm using a plain jane SixAxis minus rumble. Got it dirt cheap on eBay since Transformer cant send rumble commands anyway.
Just to add: After you change the controller configuration in Sixaxis controller, you need to disconnect then reconnect the controller for the new configuration to take effect. I have it working fine on my transformer.

Thanks, I was going to ask about that. Now my sixaxis is my go to controller.
I'd still like to get the right stick working while the controller's plugged in. Having true analog response for the left stick combined with c-buttons would be gaming nirvana. anyone have any luck with that?

not quite sure what you mean as your wording is kind of hard to read but anyhow
Xbox wireless- you need pc dongle then it will work
Xbox wired- plug and play it will work
Ps3 wireless- download sixaxis app from market and set that up
Ps3 wired- plug it in and it will work
Remapping controls hit settings then gamepad
i did plug the ps33 controller to the dock and when i turn on the controller it just turns on my ps3. it does not work with shadow gun. when i go to settings then game pad how do i map it exatly? should i unplug my ps3? its not just plug and play
when you plug it in it should just start controlling the tablet maybe try turning off controller then plugging it in.
Or download the sixaxis app and do what it says there probobly something to do with bluetooth syncing
that app is for bluetooth right? just using usb. im. so confused. let me mess with it. i google jow to and nowhere does it say how just says it can

USB OTG and Logitech F310

I received my OTG cable in the mail today and wanted to start gaming the right way with my Logitech F310 gamepad but my phone didn't recognize it at all. I tested the controller with Dead Trigger but I got no response. The green "Mode" button comes on when pressed but that's it. I thought that my gamepad would work just fine with my OTG cable because my computer recognizes it as an Xbox 360 controller. Has anybody gotten one of these to work with their S4? Thanks in advance!

Firstly, not all games support gamepads, secondly if you have the 360 controller, i hear theyre better supported c:
and lastly, you can try getting an app that manages the controller and interfaces it with the app, maps it to the touch controls of its not supported for example, theres a few out there, havent tried any myself because i only have a ps3 controller and couldnt get it working with sixaxis :c

For anyone wondering, I was able to find a solution! I bought the USB/BT JoyCenter app and it recognized my F310 in XInput mode (the switch on the bottom). Using the app, I was able to map the buttons.
On a side note, my aftermarket Power A Playstation 3 controller works automatically with some games without any extra software.

Hey,
My experience has been very flakey with the f310 but I can confirm that it does work. In some games such as asphalt 8 you don't need the joycenter app. Just mess around with it.

i second this question

Getting wireless 360 controller (with USB receiver via OTG cable obviously) to work?

It's supposed to be plug and play, right? But it's not working!
I managed to get the "player one" light on the controller with USB/BT Joystick Center but the controller still did nothing. Any ideas? I use cataclysm + franco kernel
No it's not plug and play. The 360 wireless receiver needs drivers in the form of xpad.ko for controls and ff-memless.ko for force feedback.
However they have not been compiled for the nexus 5 yet so it won't work

Xbox 360 controller ?

Is there any way to make the 360 controller work on the S6? It's not a wireless controller.
I'll even root. Is there any way to make the 360 wired controller work? (tried it with my otg but it dosen't work. Strange thing that it worked on any other phone in my house..)
Anyone?
It should work out of the box. Are you on stock f/w?

Yep. It's not working..
strange. my ps2 controler with ps2 to usb and than over the otg cable works fine.
it could be that the s6 doesn't deliver enough power for the xbox controller.

Nope,it delivers the power but the controller wont find the phone. I don't know why. Everyone on the internet has the same problem..
Solved on s6 active!
After about a week of trying, I have wireless 360 controllers working on my s6 active. I'm using a Microsoft 360 controller receiver and an otg cable. I had to find a legit USB BT Joy Center apk (not the gold version, it kept disconnecting my controller) and then I found an app called Lucky patcher that let me remove the license verification on the app, since it has been abandoned by the developer. No root required! It allows you to keymap, so I can use multiple 360 controllers for emulators (Mario kart tested), and I even used it to play games streaming from my computer with Moonlight. I have the fixed apk file upon request, or you can diy with the instructions above.
Out of the box galaxy s6 doesn't work with with x360 controller. It doesn't event work with regular usb controller that other phones work. You have to remap buttons but it's pointless because phone doesn't recognize analog triggers and joysticks.

USB Joycenter has a feature that works with the MegaN64 and Mupen64 Emulators that allows for analog input. I'm uploading a video tutorial right now, it'll be up in an hour or so. https://youtu.be/I9fvLZMd9bE
