key combinations for the existing A700/A701 Acer and their effects - Acer Iconia A700 and A510
Here are the key combinations for the existing A700/A701 Acer and their effects:
Definition
[Vol-] = button to decrease the volume, identified by two small black dots
[Vol +] = button to increase the volume, identified by a black dot
[Lock] = button to lock the screen rotation
[Power] = button to turn on the tablet
[Reset] = reset button to restart the tablet, located next to the USB port you need a paper clip to press it.
Boot into recovery:
- Press [vol-] + [power]
- Once the tablet vibrated, let go [power] and keep [vol-].
- Once the text that appears on the screen ("loading recovery kernel image"), let go [vol-].
Factory reset:
- Press [vol +] + [power]
- As soon as the tablet vibrates, let go of power and play several times [lock]
Fastboot boot mode:
- Press [vol-] + [power]
- As soon as the tablet vibrates, let go [power] and play [lock]
APX mode startup:
This mode is required to use the nvflash tool (not available yet)
- Press [vol +] and [vol-] (keep the pressure on both)
- Press [reset] once
- Releasing the volume buttons.
Nothing on the shelf says it is in this mode (black screen and LED power off), you must connect to the PC to make sure it detects the device.

I found this when try to repaired my friend's A701, i think this is very useful info, so i copy n paste here.
With JB there is a change on the A700 (can't test on A701):
Boot into recovery:

- Now the tablet vibrates a second time, let go [vol-] and press [vol+] quick
- Once the text that appears on the screen ("loading recovery kernel image"), let go [vol+].

A701 Android System Recovery
Here's the A701 System Recover Mode, i just figured out.
Definition
[Vol-] = button to decrease the volume, identified by two small black dots
[Vol+] = button to increase the volume, identified by a black dot
[Lock] = button to lock the screen rotation
[Power] = button to turn on the tablet
[Reset] = reset button to restart the tablet, located next to the USB port you need a paper clip to press it.
Boot into recovery:
- If tablet is turned on, press [Power] for 5 seconds to shut it down.
- Press and hold [vol+] + [power] for 3 seconds
- Once the tablet vibrated, let go [power] and keep [vol+] for about 2 seconds
- Once tablet vibrated again, quicky press and hold [vol-] (for about 2 more seconds) until the third vibration to enter Android System Recovery
Use [Vol+] and [Vol-] to navigate, press [Power] to confirm command.

I THOUGHT i have bricked device but i saw your comment and now i got my a700 back !!!! thanx a lot ! !!!!!

My Acer Iconia A701 won't turn on it gets stuck at the acer logo screen please!! HELP
My acer iconia A701 won't boot it turns on perfectly but it gets stuck at the acer logo and keeps on doing that over and over again.I did'nt leave out in the sun i did'nt overcharged it all i did was turn on my bluetooth and then it turned off.So i'm really hoping that there will be a solution to this which someone who has experienced this will give me.Please i really need help coz there are some stuff there that is very important to me.

what do you undestand by safe mode? If you want to flash the new rom simply tun off the phone, press volu up and connect usb cable.
To start in safe mode you have to turn off the phone. Now turn on, when you see the LG Logo, release power button and press volume up, volume down and 3D Button together and hold until android starts. Now there schould safe mode be written in the left bottom corner in a trandparent rectangle. Sorry for my bad english. I am from Austria. =)

i'm not flash any rom/kernel etc. i'm only play with power and volume button. and then my xoom stuck at "entering nvflash recovery mode". my,question,how exit thaht mode? i can't adb cause my pc not recognise my xoom. please,help me to figure out. thankyou *PS:-my xoom is m600 [wifi-3g/verizon-usa version]
can you reboot the device? if yes does it stuck on reboot without pressing buttons? if you cant turn of the device with the power button just press power + vol up at the same time for 3 sec now it should turn off this may help you Here is how I was able to get into different booting modes. 1. Power down 2. Power up and wait for the M sign to show up 3. Press volume down, nvFlash will display, press volume down again, RSD mode will display, press volume down again, fastboot mode will display. 4. Press volume up to select fastboot 5. Go ahead and flash the kernel that you like to restore can you change the booting mode by pressing vol down?

I don't know if I got something wrong up there, but since you didn't flash anything and were just playing around with vol up/down, you should not have to flash anything... What happens if you just reset your xoom by holding vol up + power for 3 seconds and after that just wait? Imo your xoom should just boot back into android and everything should be fine...
he don´t has to flash something i am not sure if he wasnt able to turn of the device... and reboot it or something else... the points for flashing r optional - if he wants to change the kernel or something

Click to collapse Try holding Vol up + PWR for 3 seconds and release, you should see the Motorola logo. Can you tell us what happened before the xoom went off, or if you have loaded a custom ROM some time ago.

Hi I have an Asus TF300T., but it wont boot. I just get "ASUS" logo, but nothing other hapens. I press VOL down, and power at same time, but I cant get ind to boot menu.. Stil only ASUS logo.. What can I do??
You should shutdown your tablet. Then you hold down the power button AND the volume-down button. After the screen turns on you can choice an option (rck,android,wipe data) by volume-down and confirm your choice with volume-up. Which bootloader and rom have you installed?
