the android version is the operating system like Windows 7 and stuff so android version 4.1.1 is Jelly Bean in the android world...baseband version is updated when the manufacturers add new stuff to the phone and it goes by codes depending on the device...and the kernel controls everything on your phone and there are many different types of kernels out there...

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 (Model SCH-I705). I am wondering what is the best (most stable) recent Android version I can put on this device? I want the device to remain rooted in the process and to not damage the baseband or ability to use Verizon service.
Can I get Android Lollipop working well? If not, is there a build of KitKit (4.4.x) I can use?
The device currently has the following installed and is running stable:
-A pre-rooted distribution of the stock android OS, 4.1.2 that was installed Oct 2013 that had been distributed here in the XDA forums.
-Baseband I705VRBLL2
-Kernel 3.0.31-918075 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 1 01:56:10 KST
-Build number JZ054K.I705VRBLL2
-Bootloader was updated to an "insecure" version along with the rooted install.
-TWRP 2.4.4.0 Recovery
-SDM app frozen in Titanium backup to disable over the air updates.
Device is hardware version I705.03.
Thanks
Is this the only ROM I can update to?
