Some of you have broken phones.
I am looking for an sgs4g to totally rip apart for scientific reasons. I want to try my hands at making a reversed engineered schematic.
If the phone works great, it will be a lame demise... but if it totally doesn't turn on, has a broken screen, is already kinda smashed. I don't care! Send it to me!
Let me know.

Right, this is going to go 2 steps further then a tear down.
I want to desolder chips from the board. This is not reversible. I cannot put the chips back on. The board will be hosed afterwards.

I hope that devs come over to G2x land. LG can't work out its problems, T-Mobile can't work out its problems. Maybe the smart developers can work it out.

I think it would be a mistake for anyone to jump ship unless they just really wanted something else. The G2x has an awesome screen (despite screen bleed), great hardware, and great form factor. The only thing wrong with it is software related, which is fixable. You can't fix poor hardware, which some newer phones do have.

I believe I did say "thinking" in the OP. I was only trying to point out that it seems as though a lot of people are switching to the sensation... And your update didn't say "thinking of selling one of my seven devices" it said "thinking of selling my g2x".

Me too.
CM7 already has the battery driver ironed out and a pretty stable release of 2.3.4. The phone itself is awesome and I'm loving the Tegra games.
I think I would be seriously disappointed if I were to switch to another phone right now.
I think my next phone won't be until Tegra 3's are out.

u hit it on the head player911, im effin loving my phone it is a beautiful piece i actually took my screen protector off and wow this screen is amazingly beautiful, ill tell u what those tmobile anti smear protectors suck! anyways the screen doesnt have one scratch id figure i would just keep one off because of the gorilla glass it has been about a week and not one scratch, and i think im just gonna stay with this phone for a while, i love the way this phone plays games, u have to check out galaxy on fire 2. great game....and now that cm7 is on its way to stable im not even worried about that official gingerbread release because it really wont do nothing special to our phones, we need the drivers from nvidia! as far as battery and etc., but like i said cm handled that......sorry a little off subject

Haha I think they guy was a crack head looking for his daily fix, had no money so he sacrificed his phone haha...yeah development for the infuse is kind of dead to be honest....its not largely supported.
Come down to AZ man ...a lot of phones for good price.... or find the local crack head with a good phone and offer him money lol

Even skyrocket Dev is not great...i know its better then infuse but...nothing in comparison to OG SG2 or even ATT note
I might consider the Note but just the size seems huge!! I've never actually held it so until I do play with it I'll make my choice

Nothing a new modem can't fix...
Plus Skyrocket is getting ICS soon so the source will be out and different ICS roms will be out as well ..... and Cyanogen will be working all all devices for CM9 (except the infuse sadly)

Worst fear was realized today! My beloved cappy took a fall right into the toilet, clean water thankfully! I had to switch to my hd2 for the time being. My cappy is resting comfortably in a bag of rice. I got the battery out so fast that it didn't get wet nor did anything behind the back cover. It may survive, only time will tell. But now I truly feel for you jayrokk

I had a similar incident with another phone ....not my old cappy lol.....
I was pissing and holding my phone with my shoulder and head....and for some reason i lifted my head and the phone just slid down lmao

Do you think Samsung will ever put Ice Cream Sandwich on the charge or we stuck with Gingerbread? if not, Will the developers here ever be able to develop ICS for the charge? The reason I ask is because the new Verizon contracts eliminate unlimited data and in order to keep it, I'm looking at buying phones outright to avoid signing a new contract. I know things can change between now and next spring when I become upgrade eligable, but I don't feel so lucky.
If Verizon does not change plans do you think it's worth looking at Sprint or is this a downgrade network and/or equipment wise?

ICS is working on the phone...sorta. CM9 is almost fully functional, but there's no mobile data, so it isn't usable as a daily driver. For it to become fully functional, the RIL needs to be fully cracked, and there's just no motivation for devs to work that hard on the RIL this phone. It's bleeding users (me including), and no other phones (other than some prepay variants) use the same radios, so there's really not much to gain. I don't think jt has given up, but I just don't think it's a priority.
I'd bet money that Samsung/Verizon will never release ICS. There isn't enough room for a TouchWiz version of ICS on /system, and you can bet that they won't release a Google Experience version.
Edit: You can do like I did and check out swappa.com. I bought a used device from there and had a fantastic shopping experience and got a great phone in great condition for a fair price. Can't say enough good things about that site.

Its not insane. Your full retail phone will give you peace of mind. Never having nightmares waking up at 4am in a cold sweat because you dreamed having gone over your data by 20gb. I sold my charge for 200 bought my sgs3 for 500 .

In an open discussion, responses are read/heard by everyone, and things said can often be more for the benefit of everyone else rather than the person it's directed at. Hello xda. Let me get straight to the point. My mom, step sister, brother and cousin all have the EVO shift. My cousin is on his 6th. My bros on his 3rd. Sisters on her 3rd and now my mom is getting her second. All do to touchscreen malfunction. I attached some pictures of the dead spot on the phone. Not only can I not touch there but sometimes when the phones just sitting there it'll touch random spots. Is there a fix to this? Maybe running an RUU?

I've had the same problem in the same spot since I got my phone. Sprint and Wirefly screwed me out of insurance... So I just work around it by rotating the screen.
Changing the build.prop helps. Change windowsmgr.maxevents to 240. If you're not rooted you are outta luck tho, no update is gonna fix that.

The phones did work good for a while but then after time the touch just starts dying. Almost a total of 12 phones have had the same problem. Although phone with keyboards tend to malfunction more than bar phones.

Yeah that is usually the flex cable but mine had a small dead line across the screen and progressively got worse. My wife's does too but hers happened after getting dropped in a drink lol. I'll just say I have done a lot with Android and I can't fix this problem, it is a hardware issue, no software will fix it.
That's what had happened to a few of the shifts. The cable started to crease and that shorted the screen to a point where it was unusable.

It's defiantly a Hardware issue. Usually the Flex Cable. I've had them bought to me for repair acting just like yours. Usually end up replacing the Digitizer also. Because people tend to bang on the Screen harder, thinking that that will make it work. Which does nothing but cause more damage. If you have TEP, take it in. Just make sure to RUU before you take it in.

Called sprint talked for a bit. They're sending a refurb. But last one sent here was broken upon arrival so let's see how this ones going to act. Hopefully it'll solve the problem.

It is not a setting, it is an app. Search "touch screen test" on Play Store.

After the third time for the same issue you can request a NEW one. They may not be to happy to oblige, but if you stay on them they should do it. Also after the third time for the same issue, you can request a different device. It would be without a penalty. Meaning you should not have to use your Upgrade.
Either im really lucky or really careful, because nothing has gone bad on my shift except the battery. And that's after two years.

I didnt have any shift problems till my shift died around May of this year with screen...and now my refurb started having issues so I had to take it in...
Mine was awesome. Until I killed it :crying::crying::crying:

If I don't get the note two I'm getting the gs3. My friend had it and I've used it but only for a minute. He's reall protective about his phone. So I haven't really used it but I know its a beast. So wait, to fix this problem do you need to buy the digitizer or flex cable? or both? because i have the exact same issue right on that same spot.
