Can anyone suggest a fast non buggy kernel for cm10 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Okay so NY problem is when I try to set a speed it doesn't stick. It goes to 1135 or down to 900 something. Even though I say max at 1513. I know the numbers may not be exact however my issue is that it just keeps moving and performance is affected so does anyone have a good fast able kerbel to run on CyanogenMod 10
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app

Doesn't sound like a kernel issue to me, more like a user error on your part.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

No its not. Even though I typed messy I'm not stupid I'm just typing on my phone. Its def not me are u running cm 10? If not please don't give unhelpful responses.

Yeah, I am.
If you can't figure out how to get your device past 1100, you're doing it wrong. Plain and simple.

Also, it might be helpful if you listed what kernel you're running.

I'm running the kernel that comes with cm10. I can get it past 1100 the problem is every now and then it always goes back I'm not messing it up. I think its the ROM honestly

I'm using KT747 with Euroskank's CM10 and have it OC'd to 2106 and it holds through restarts using KTweaker
Are you sure it's not your governor simply throttling you back?

Download CPUSpy and don't open it for an hour. Then open it and see what your top slot is for usage. I bet it's governor too...

Try what I said above. That will show you what slots your kernel is using.

OK tried it and it is spending almost the entire time at 1100 is that what it should be on interactive.

Do you know how to overclock using terminal emulator? If so you can work your way up to get echo 3 to 1300. But you need init.d support for this to work obviously lol and remember that not everyone can reach the same stable O'C as others. It varies with this device.

What did the oc zip set you to upon flashing it? I've always just either edited the o'c zip to my preferred o'c using root explorer and text editor, or by terminal emulator. And I use SetCPU to control it and set profiles.

Yea the oc zip actually underclocked you there Lol.
Using terminal emulator, type the following:
su
echo 3 1200 1398 > /proc/cpu_control/tweak_cpu
Then check too see that it shows 1200 in CPU master or whatever app you use. Use this method to test different overclock settings. Once you find a good stable speed, you can edit it using root explorer to stick on every boot.

You need to modify the contents of the overclock file in the initd folder.... that file was designed for people with only 1 ghz, and they lacked an echo.... add echo4 and modify use all the settings above, and then modify slowly from there if u wish to oc.... do not just add echo 4 you should replace all the clock speeds and voltages from above

Beans ROM causing major issues!!!!!

I never had a problem with anything until I flashed beans build 6. I did a clean install but ever since my phone has been freezing nonstop. I have to battery pull every time and it is getting frustrating. I went back to build 5 on a clean install and the same thing occurs. I even tried downloading my apps one by one from the play store instead of restoring from titanium and I still get this issue. Someone please give me some enlightenment I'm desperate!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
1) What does a full wipe consist of in your case?
2) Freezing as in you can't do anything at all or freezing as in laggy? How long did you have Beans Build 5 and/or 6 installed?
3) did you have the AOSP Lockscreen installed via Aroma (when you first flash the rom)? if so, did you deselect ALL the TW options under Settings/Lockscreen?
4) Do you check the md5 before flashing build 5 or build 6? If not, what do they say when you check now?
AOSP lock screen was the culprit that required me to pull my battery. I have no problems with the tw lock screen on B6. Battery life, GPS, performance is great on B6.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
When you enable AOSP lock screen you must disable all other functions in the same settings menu. Everything must be off. I'm running it flawlessly after doing so.

Full wipe for me would be factory reset/system/cache/dalvic
It would freeze and I wouldn't be able to do anything so I had to battery pull
I had some settings turned on for touch wiz lock screen and I've turned them off since and I think that may have been the culprit. They were there as default however.
Also how would I go about checking md5

That's exactly what I did. Then switched to TW 4x5 launcher and also changed to CWM recovery (before re flashing ROM) and all my issues went away. Don't know if Nova was the issue or not but it works great now. Fast and smooth. Even running IMO lean kernel with no problems. Here's the quadrant score.

Didn't realize Quadrant was so frowned upon around here. Sorry for posting. Have used other benchmarks and with B6 have achieved scores very close to the supposed reigning benchmark king that I will not mention lol. Either way, I'm very happy with the speed and smoothness of B6 now. Once B7 corrects the email issue and I'm assuming will be based on the official OTA release tomorrow I think I've found my daily driver. Great ROM.

I was using cwm and switched to twrp actually and I think that may have helped... There is no telling though. I would go back to cm10 but I have constant call issues with it even with late builds. Probably my phone being temperamental though. I am one that believes in doing clean installs though so I know my problems aren't from a so called dirty flash. I wish I could import my desktop layout into trebuchet because I always feel that it was the fasted launcher for me.

There isn't anything you can do from TB to speed up start up, in fact there is very little you can do from any standpoint. About the only think to can do at all is disable or remove any start screen animations .Beyond that you might try cutting down on the number of active widgets you have on your home screens.

Sent from my C525c using xda app-developers app
Boot animation can be changed directly from your phone. Just look around and find one you like, may need adjustment based on resolution, and switch it out. Don't need an app for that lol.
Notification bar can be done within the systemui.apk. Just need to decompile the app so you can make your adjustment. Will be located within res/layout/*
XDA is very resourceful on how to do it

I agree, but their monthly cost for services is really good which is why I am sticking around lol. Starts out at $55 a month. Every six months that you pay on time, it will drop $5. You can get it as low as $40 a month with unlimited services. Not a bad deal lol.

Hey bro, do this....to stop them from throttling you
In a file explorer with su rights(root explorer)
Go to /data/system/throttle
First:
Change the permissions to r-x
Then open the folder and delete the two contents inside.....
Then reboot
Victory....no more throttle!
