I'm on a business trip and have brought my Note with me which is in a cover and carried in the notebook slot of a backpack. Once I arrived I noticed the tablet, though on, appeared to be locked up, no response to touch or pen input. Forced a restart and touch stated working until I pulled out the pen and then everything froze again, including touch. Tried this several times with the same result. Did a factory reset thinking something got messed up with the software which is invoked when the pen is pulled but no help. Something has happened but to what I don't know. Was thinking about returning anyway for a 32gb version so now I guess the decision has been made. Still curious as to what happened so I might avoid it in the future....
One more thing. In the notebook compartment I also had my series 7 slate which also was in it's own cover as well. I can't see where that could have been a problem as there was plenty of room in the compartment. I guess having another semi hard object there may have stressed the screen of the note but that doesn't seem likely.

Yep, some of us have had this problem, the exact same problem. I am returning mine to Amazon and receiving a replacement. I don't know if the update has anything to do with it or not, but I am going to keep the update off of it for a while to see if the problem happens to my new one.
I've had the update loaded since the day it came out, what a week ago or so. Wasn't a problem

Same exact thing happened to my 1 week old note. Did the reset and still the touchscreen would not work correctly. Crazy thing with mine I could force a restart just as it came back on the touch screen would work fine until I let the screen turn off then it would not let me unlock. Had to return it.

Me too. I got my second unit last Friday and no problems yet but no update available either. It seems that Samsung pulled the update for some reason.

Hey Chaps,
Wondering if anyone has experienced this one before - my transformer is about 2 weeks old and I've just noticed in the last few days a funny 'unresponsiveness' of about 1 inch of the touch screen from the right hand side (this covers the "App, + , and Time " portion of the screen. no matter how many times I tap it just doesn't respond.
Heres the strange part, I flip the tablet 180 and i can close execute "Apps, +, and the Time" features no problems! Switching back also allows this to occur.
I'm totally baffled. At first I thought it may have been some software issue so I've tried the following:
- restart
- factory reset (twice),
- cold reboot
Still no go, I've downloaded a multitouch app and testing shows the same thing!
Cheers in advance for any assistance provided.
p.s firmware is 8.6.5.9 TW

excuse the heavy breathing & poor camera skills - i'm sick.
experienced the same thing. i bought my tf to an asus repair center, said there was another one with the same case as mine, making me the second. they said they fixed the first one by upgrading roms. i highly doubt that though, since i tried everything from reflashing stock to rooting to a custom rom.. everytime, there's still a weird unresponsiveness that randomly appears and disappears..
neilbantoc,
I think I nailed it down - I turned it off, and left it off last night. When I started it up this morning, it was all good - I was amazed as I thought it was gone. Then it came back after 5-10 mins after some surfing / games. What struck me that I never really put 2 and 2 together is the back plate of the affected area, it was hot!
I personally think it's an over heating issue and not a software issue. The seller said it was their first TF101 returned and they have sold many - guess we just lucky we got lousy ones?
I got an exchange today and no issues so far! Fingers crossed.
Got the same problem, tried different roms, kernals.etc, will send it back for exchange.
I had a similar thing - Try downloading a drawing app and drawing lines SLOWLY down the screen with a stylus (fingers are too fat).
This may reveal areas of touch screen which don't work at all.
For mine I had a line nearly an inch high level with the speakers running horizontally across the tablet.
If you have this, get an exchange - their repair of mine failed and made it worse, and it took a month, so IMO don't risk a repair.
Guys, I can confirm that the problem has gone away with the replacement. It was definitely a hardware related issue (I still think it's over heating )

Since about 2 weeks ago I've been having issues with my back button, at times I have to push really hard on it for it to work. It doesnt happen all the time but it still happens and its annyoing. I thought it was a rom issue but I'm not sure.

Sounds like hardware, if it was a rom issue, we would have probably already had an thread/fix for it. Do you have a warranty for the phone?

do you have a screen protector or case on the device? Check to make sure nothing is under the screen protector or remove the case if one is present.
Mine has been acting up since I flashed my first rom a couple of days back. It seems to do it most when I'm coming back from sleep mode. I'll try pulling the screen protector (could use a new one anyway), but it seems like quite a coincidence with the timing
Ok so i picked up my new skyrocket 2 days ago and I put CWM on it, made a back up and installed the ICS flavor ROM from the development forum. Everything went fine, and i didnt use the phone much yesterday, but today i noticed that i am having annoying touchscreen problems. It basically makes Swype unusable. I have restored back to stock and it was still doing it. I have reinstalled the ICS rom, double flashing it, and it still does it. Is anybody else having issues like this? Its noticable on lists. This video is just an example but it does it in the market, on web pages, etc..

I have never had these problems. Maybe take it back and exchange it.

Update:
I used odin and i reset everything to stock with no CWM and no Root and the issue has stopped as far as i can tell. Maybe i just had a bad download. Ill redownload it again and flash it tonight and see if it persists.
Ok so ive been using stock and it started again. I used an app called Touch Test to see what the screen is seeing. It is a really intermittent issue. There is a "ghost touch" that is happening. near the top of the screen and at the bottom of the screen. A touch in the middle causes it to jump to the top and then back to the bottom causing touches to jump all over the place. It is very intermittent. I didnt buy the phone from ATT so there could be 2 reasons for the this.
A) It was sold to me like this
B) The people at ghost armor put to much liquid on my phone when applying the screen protector and messed up my phone.
I didnt notice any issues before i got it ghost armored, but i only had the phone 2 days before i got it wrapped.
Any ideas on how to recalibrate the screen or any other options i may have?
Found the culprit... Kind of embarrassed it took me this long. Ended up being the wall charger. Its a cheap knock off but it had the same input and output. I was sitting at my desk on the touch test app seeing it spaz out and unplugged it to show my friend what was happening and it stopped. Used the same cable to plug into the pc and no problem. Well that is a relief.

Wow, thanks a lot for this info man! You really saved my life.
I also got a new charger and started experiencing these weird jitters. If it wasn't for this post I would never have figure it out.
My new charger was an Original one from Samsung, but it was obviously made for a different model as the output voltage and current were higher = caused jitters.
I then went back to using my old charger which came with the phone and the issue is gone.
Using Samsung Galaxy S5 NEO (SM-G903F).
Thanks again!!!
Hi guys,
my DS did some strange stuff lately. It began with the screen staying black when I woke it up (hardware buttons did turn on and touchscreen also worked). I thought it was a software issue, because after a few on and offs the screen usually worked again. Also, this never happened when the phone was charging.
But a few days ago the screen never turned back on again, even when charging. I got a new battery but still no change. It won't even turn on when booting or when going to fastboot/ hboot.
Does anyone have an idea what is broken? I think my best guess is to have a look at these other screen replacement threads, but I wanted to ask first because the screen seemed to have gradually become broken, which confuses me. I didn't think something like that was even possible. Also, I can't return it since I bought it used and in Germany (DS is USA exclusive).
Thanks for help
Most certainly hardware as it is black when in bootloader and ROM. Best guess is the LCD but could also be the main flex the likelyhood of any thin else is fairly small.
Do read up on the screen replacement threads as this phone is one pain in the ass, you also need to be aware of what LCD to buy as there were different ones and they are not compatible.

Thanks for the tips. Screen might be still ok since it went out gradually, could be a defective contact since it also went on and off randomly. But I guess there is no way to only replace this contact, too complicated to find out... I will see.
Yeah, I had a look at these threads already, thank you
I had a program that I moved to the sd card that would cause the screen not to come on and would have to do a battery pull. When I moved the app back to the phone, the problem stopped.
(Walgreens app)
It has happened again since, so it may be another app I have to track down. Or I may be looking at faulty screen trouble too.
Sent from my MyTouch 4G Slide using Tapatalk 2
even if an app on sd were the cause of this it certainly couldnt make the screen blackout while in recovery and bootloader mode. to the best of my knowledge it has to be a hardware fault if screen wont turn on in bootloader... but well ive been proven wrong in the past
Well since I had problems with the screen turning off before when it did work in recovery, there might be a connection to daswerk's case. However I kept all my apps on the internal SSD and do remember checking it. Also, my screen turned back on sooner or later or when I played around with the keyboard.
However later it was off even in recovery mode. I did disassemble my DS lately (and broke my screen like seemingly everyone else hehe) and am now waiting for my new LCD screen to arrive in Germany from the states haha. Shipping costs were higher than LCD costs, d'oh! Thanks again demkantor, you've been helping me indirectly with your posts in the other threads as well
So guys, screen arrived, reassembled my phone, switched it on aaand... black screen.
Graphic chip or motherboard may be broken. I'm thinking about a loose connection because screen turned off once in a while before it never got back on. I found a user by coincidence here on xda who reported the same problem.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Don't want to forsake my dearly loved DS :'(
Next most likely would be main flex cable

Are there other possibilities as well? I'm thinking about getting a whole replacement set so I can try everything shipping costs are high since I live in germany hmmf
btw, digitizer/ touchscreen doesn't seem to work either, is this another sign that main flex cable is the prolem?
There are always more possiblities I was just letting you know what I would replace next as the most likley cause.
Having multiple phones to exchange parts is a good idea and really about the only way to test different components
And yes have no digitizer working can be a sign of a bad flex as well

My touch screen has been acting mad the past few days - it barely responds to my touch and it acts as if someone is randomly moving their fingers around the screen. Tried rebooting, reflashing, and I'm even back to stock now to no avail. I think I'll have to send it into warranty.
Anyone else experience something similar?
You've done all the right things to trouble shoot the problem. I'd rma the device. I don't think you can do any more than you already have

Seems like a defected device. Send it back in for a replacement.
RMA it, it sounds defective.

Yeah I am sending it in... it just seems weird that its acting up after I've had the device for almost a half year without any problems. No worries - maybe I'll get a device from the newer assembly line (I have to original N5).
Thanks guys can't wait to be back in this forum
