I have the Tab 2 10.1 and it can play 720p Just , but not every file, some refuse to play some are very choppy.
What is the Note 10.1 like a playing full hd movies/video`s , I know the display`s only 720p+
I paid £300 for the Tab 2 10.1 16GB , is the Note 2 10.1 32GB WIFI worth £480 ???
Thanks

I am Number Four: 1080p, MKV file, 14Mbps (H.264 Video + DTS Audio), Picture Size 1920x1036 (1:85:1). I had to use BSPlayer (because of the audio). Plays perfectly smooth when copied to internal storage (the processor can totally handle it. you can slide your finger and it keeps up with my finger).
For some reason, it gets choppy over Wi-Fi -- even though on a speedtest I get at least 30Mbps (that's using Verizon FIOS Internet). At the time, I was using my faster router with the 5GHz band, no traffic at the time, just me; I was in the same room as my router and still it had choppy moments. I tried another 1080p, about 9.5Mbps (1920x800; 2:40:1). No problem streaming that.
The Avengers: 720p, MKV file; 7.5 Mbps (H.264 Video + DTS Audio), Picture Size 1280x720 (16:9). Smooth over Wi-Fi & on my internal storage.
All my 720p TV shows play smoothly regardless. They always have Dolby AC3 audio, approx 4.5 Mbps total bitrate. Always 1280x720 (16:9).
----------
It downscales the 1080p stuff and it looks very clear. I'm very happy with it.
I re-encoded the choppy 1080p video using Handbrake. I made it 720p (1280x688), 2 passes, 6Mbps, DTS Passthrough. Stuck it in a MKV file. Used Normal Profile.
This doesn't make sense to me: It's still choppy over Wi-Fi in the exact same spot.
Both the 720p & 1080p versions play perfectly when copied to the tab. I've tried in DicePlayer and BSPlayer.
Speedtest (on the tab & desktop) says, over both bands (2.4 & 5 GHz) I get 28-30Mbps over the Internet (I do have a 30Mbps Internet connection). I have a gigabit router. All PCs on my LAN have gigabit ethernet. A LAN speedtest says I'm getting 800-820 Mbps throughput (from one desktop to another). I also used Wi-Fi Analyzer on the tab at the time this was happening. Absolutely no additional traffic on the 5 GHz band.
Maybe it has something do with the actual video itself. But, either way, a 14Mbps 1080p does play smoothly and looks very clear when copied the tab's to internal storage.

Hello guys!
I've purchased recently a brand new x7510, mainly for navigation (love the display) and mobile office. I've installed the latest coreplayer 1.2.5 and loaded some vids that I used to show on my old good iPAQ 4700.
And.. surprise
the screen is green and there is no sound. I've played with the settings (changed video output from ati imageon to gdi) and now videos are running but way too slow. The builtin benchamark of coreplayer gives me different scores from 50 to 70%
What's wrong?
What settings are you using? Or maybe there's a better player around?

How about uploading one of the shorter videos for the rest to test and see who can play it most smoothly?

I have some flv files downloaded from youtube, but mainly videos of concerts recorded on my home computer from sat tv in wmv
One of those is about 30 minutes of Jewel concert:
Audio codec DMO WMA 44100hz 2 chanels/96kbit/s
Video codec DMO WMV (WMV9) 384 x 288, 1,15 Mb/s.
I think I've rocoded it for my mobile, but do not remember.
I just converted Superman Returns using Pocket DVD at the following settings:
IMAGE
Width: 464 pixels
Height: 288 pixels
AUDIO
Duration: 2:34:05
Bit Rate: 40 kbps
Audio Format: MPEG Layer-3
VIDEO
Frame Rate: 24 frames/second
Data Rate: 605 kbps
Video Sample Size: 24 bit
Video Compression: XVID
The only settings I changed from Core Player are:
1. Menu>Tools>Preferences>Video>Video Output>Direct Draw
2. Menu>Tools>Preferences>ATI IMAGEON>check Keep ATI Driver Active
3. Menu>Tools>Preferences>Buffering>Normal Buffer Size 700000
I also tried watching some You Tube Videos, randomly. No problems at all, except some anime looked crappy probably because they were not meant to be seen at such a big screen compared to other PPC.
I don't have any problems playing my converted DVDs. NO SKIPS, NO LAGS, NO DELAYED VOICE OR SOUND which I often see others complaining about. From my point of view, it is a matter of what converter and settings you used and what settings you have Core Player on.
So am I happy? HELL YEAH!!!!! It's better than watching using my Universal.
I don't know about the missing drivers that I often read others are asking. If Core Player can play my converted DVDs as good as my Universal, I don't see any problem with that. As I said, check your settings.
Nope still lags audio lag for me tried your settings...What version of coreplayer are you using? Did you use headphones when you played the video?

I just tried that video, when using core player 1.2.5 it almost runs fine, just that I don't have the ac3 audio codec. I also noticed a little tearing during scene change (fullscreen only).
My core player settings are:
Video output: DirectDraw
Video quality:High
Smooth Zoom: on
Dither: selected
Acceleration:not selected
DirectDraw settings:
overlay with colorkey:unselected
use blitting instead of overlay:selected
use device stretching for blitting: unselected (however I find that when I select this option with the one above I notice the tearing seems to go away but the video quality seems to go down a little)
I also increased buffersize:
normal buffer size:3392
preload at:70%
preload audio:64
Microdrive mode: selected
microdrive buffer size:56000
microdrive starts:1472
and thats what I have for coreplayer. Hopes this helps.
I'm going to try this vid in TCPMP and see how it handles it (I tend to get better video performance with TCPMP)
Another note, I have a x7501, however they're basically the same hardware.
I am using 1.2.5 version of Core Player.
I'm also using Coreplayer 1.25. Unfortunately I do not have the AC-3 codec. In any case, with rawframe buffer and set to highest video quality output, the picture is sensationally clear and fluid. I get 96.65% speed. Absolutely stunning and beautiful playback.
What audio plugin do you guys use for this video?
no problem playing videos properly coded for 640x480 sizes at max resolution, sound, etc
using TCPMP or CorePlayer, they both plays great!

But on which device, x7510? You mean you were able to install TCPMP on X7510?
Then which version? And could you provide your installer?

I have a x7501 no matter how I set it the video display is not smooth. I lovegbe big screen but when I made a video comparison with iPhone 3g, x7501 is worlds apart. iPhone 3g is so sharp and bright. I think it's a OS issue

Yes, and I commented that also. This version is no solution for me. It is not only to install the app, but to be able to play my videos as well.
This version gives me good audio and scrambled video, so no joy.
I have already CorePlayer and am happy with it, but just was curious.
hi
any news ?.....ways to improve?
I was looking for the best performance for CorePlayer on my 7510 and this configuration is best for me:
video:
selected driver - ATI Imageon (acceleration turned "off"!). Don't choose "DirectDraw", "Raw FrameBuffer" or "GDI" on HTC 7510 - they are slowest than Imageon without acceleration!
dithering - "on". halftones - "on". quality - "best"
Buffer: video output buffer set to: 4200 kb
I picked up the Tab yesterday after selling my Archos 70. To be honest the video processing onthe tab is poor. Speed wise iits great but the hardware decoder seems to not process the video correctly. This is apparent on 720p content, the image seems to be pixelated or downscaled very poorly, resulting in jagged image quality. It seems that lower resolution files such as 480p does not suffer from this problem. I have tried mp4 and mkv 720p files and the problem is still very noticable. After trying rockplayer xyplayer and a host of others i noticed that the image is far sharper under software decoding ( but too slow to be usable) , one hardware decoding is enabled the image becomes blocky.
To be honest the main reason for buying the tab was for the playback of 720p content on a good quality screen. ( archos 70 screen has poor contrast and viewing angles) , has anyone else noticed this poor hardware decoder issue? and is there any way around it? , I am running the latest firmware and feeling a bit dissapointed, my galaxy S has no such decoding issues.
Poor? It plays perfectly my test file, a 1080p trailer for the last Indiana Jones... And that beast reaches a bitrate of even 50mbps!

I have noticed the same thing.
Whit 720p movies the Tab do some thing to the image. Pixelated/downscale weird frames sometimes. When just watch on the Tab screen i dont noticed its so much. But when i connect it to the hdmi dock and run the move on big screen its gets really noticeable.
And its like you say, on low res movies its looks good like youtube or other movies.
But whit 720p its looks weird some time whit lost frames or what you can call it.
Can't explain it whit my poor English.
The Tab play all my movies just fine. No lagg or so. Its just like the above described. Its seems it have problems to decode or handle the image the way it should look like.
And i use the stock Samsung player.
Think the Tab has same problem when you look at pictures in the gallery. Its downscale/mess up the image. Have read about that here on Xda

It doesn't happened to me when I play with Samsung Video 720 & 1080p.
I don't trust RockPlayer.
FYI.
No issues here either, 1080P and 720P all played fine... best file format seems to be XviD..

I agree. The Tab plays my ripped blu-ray movies beautifully. I keep resolution at 1080 too. No lag or picture quality issues.

I use the the standard video player and it works fine, rockplayer lagged and put movies out of sync for me
Use stock player instead, never really trust rockplayer

I think your problem is that there is DTS / Multi channel audio in your movies.
The Galaxy Tab can't play Movies whit 5.1 audio. It haves to be stereo sound or it won't play.
It's kind of sucks, because almost every 720p movie haves multi channel audio that SGT can't handle.
Little annoying that movies have to be converted only for the audio.
What i do is that i convert my movies whit Formatfactory.

I just got the 3.1 upgrade on my wifi Xoom. I then downloaded the 10.3 flash player, but still when I play 720p Youtube videos, my Xoom will stutters so bad, that the videos are unwatchable. I thought these updates would have fixed the problems. Am I the only one like this or does everyone's xoom stutter on HD youtube videos? My Xoom is stock and unrooted.
Are you watching them in browser? Why? I haven't tried that, but i will try when i get home and let you know.
HD videos in Youtube app play just fine on my device.
I was just about to post something about my video play back. When I first got my xoom. I come watch Tekzilla and Hak 5 HD versions of the show. Now its like watching a scratch dvd but the audio is great. I'm stock as well but not updated to 3.1. I hope someone can help...
weird. Its super smooth for me.
Is your net connection stable?

Report your speed then if sufficient, troubleshooting can begin. If you're trying 720p on 1.5Mbps/384kbps dsl then you will get crappy performance.
I guess the videos that play aren't necessarily Youtube videos, but Flash videos.
For example...try playing this video on your xoom:
http://www.flashvideofactory.com/test/DEMO720_Heima_h264_500K.html
Mine stutters, the audio sounds ok.
It plays fine on my PC.
Speedtest on my Xoom is 12937 Down and 10935 Up...it definitely isn't a speed problem.

This stutters on my work desktop computer also, so i'm not expecting it to work on my Xoom, but i will try when i get home.
I admit, this computer is old: Win XP on AMD Athlon 2800+, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 graphics.
I can't play that video on a dual core 2.66 ghz laptop, with 4gb RAM and a 50Mbps downstream connection.
I'm not going to hold out hope for my Xoom on that.
it stated that it isn't optimized for mobile viewing.
I tested http://www.flashvideofactory.com/tes...h264_500K.html video on my Xoom now and it doesn't play good. It plays about the same as my work computer did.
I also tested a random 720p Youtube video in full screen (on Facebook). It played just fine, without any problems.
FYI: WIFI only Xoom (US) Android 3.1 and Flash 10.3
I like to stream videos from my main computer to my laptop. So far I have never had a video file, no mater how high quality it couldnt play flawlessly, and my lap top isn't anything special at 4 years old and was around $600 new.
I have been able to use "ES File explorer" and "MX player" (with dts codec) to play up to 720 video near flawlessly, 720p with 5.1 will play too, I can even get a stereo 1080p .mp4 file to play nicely, but 1080 files with 5.1 or higher just wont run smoothly over the wifi. If I load a high quality video on to the storage and play it, it will play fine too.
My Questions:
1. Is it possible to play High Quality HD video files over my wifi network on the shield smoothly?
2. I am running a 5 or 6 year old linksys wireless N router, with ddwrt firmware. Would a newer router help the problem?
yes is possible with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.qiss.vega.ad&hl=en
now if you get lag consider getting a new dual band router
So I am comparing Pixel 2 and iPhone 7 (which is older than the Pixel 2, by the way) video playback and I am noticing frame drops/skips when playing 60 FPS content.
I am comparing videos found on Hilzu's YouTube channel, which look absolutely amazing on Pixel 2 AMOLED screen compared to the iPhone 7. I have tried playing back 60 FPS videos on:
Google Photos
VLC
YouTube
miXplorer Player
And they all seem to stutter, or sometimes "chug" and slowdown randomly at times. And as miXplorer Player shows, it is using hardware decoding, which should not be having any problems.
Meanwhile, iPhone 7 plays .mp4 1080p @ 60 FPS files natively without a problem or any frame skips, and it can play 1440p @ 60 FPS .mkv files using VLC, which, I believe, uses SOFTWARE decoding on the iPhone 7, but still manages to have no slowdows or frame drops at all!
Can someone tell me what is going on, or recommend a good video player app?
Thanks.
