Does anyone think the app will work on our phone? Looks like it's released for the international version.

I just installed this. Seems to work just fine. Good looking, as far as Car Mode apps go, but perhaps not as powerful. Still, I think that I'll be using it a lot. Also, it seems to expect TouchWiz apps, so don't be surprised if it doesn't work right on an AOSP rom.

Looks good, but it would be nice if you could add extra apps to have access to in the interface. Of course, I doubt that will happen because it's designed to work with mirrorlink and follows some safety precautions.
Think I'll stick with Google CarHome.
I have it working on myphone running stock not rooted (yet) but weather dont work and i thought it was supposed to read your email? i installed for that but I don't think thats the case.

I used it on my drive home yesterday afternoon and found that the weather wasn't working for me either. Seems that it is too dumb to recognize the location services enabled on the phone, or maybe it just doesn't like Verizon. Still, even with GPS enabled and locked it couldn't figure it out. I suppose that's why they haven't released a NA version yet. Hopefully they just release it and don't let the carriers get involved. Also, I don't have a car with Mirror link so I don't know if that's working or not.

I too have noticed the the weather as well as temp controls were not functional. I also came across some functionality issues with adding shortcuts within the app. While the overall look is nice it just feels incompatible with our Verizon SGS3's. \
After a little searching I found and side loaded the google Car Home app and am blown away by how smooth it is by comparison. Bonus for being transparent and showing my live wallpaper, it's the little things that matter sometimes. :good:
Same with AT&T S3.
BTW which google car home app?

Car Home from Google
I got them on XDA somewhere a while back pulled for another phone. They work fine on the GS3.
See Attached.
So I don't know if it is because I was still connected to WiFi in my driveway or because I've rebooted the phone once or twice since installing the Drive Link app, but this morning on my way to the airport Drive Link had both location and weather. Furthermore, where I had previously been seeing some weird data icon in the pseudo status bar (H+?), today I saw a normal 4G icon. I didn't notice it updating the location as I went (i.e. the weather stayed stuck at my departure location), but it's entirely possible that I didn't notice as a function of being tired. Regardless, it seems that this app actually works! Can someone try rebooting and/or enabling GPS outside while still connected to WiFi to confirm/narrow down what needs to happen to get this app working?

This is most likly because you were still connected to the wifi network and it downloaded the data once you got a lock. When I plug mine into the car it disables my 3G as it thinks I'm USB tethering to a PC because thats where the data for Mirroring travels through. That should be fixed with the US release.

MobiTv apk from the Samsung vibrant from T-mobile. Live streaming works but on demand content says "content not currently available. Please try again later" like on the HD2 you get 30 days free after the trial its $9.99 a month.

If somebody wants to rehost it let me know via PM. I uploaded this from my nexus, no PC :-(
Thanks man! I'll be trying this out soon
good find dude.
Becareful, it looks like it automatically subscribes you to charge you on your phone bill. Not are if it will do it with art but T-Mobile users beware or u might end up with an unwanted 10$ charge on your bill.

Doesn't work for me. Cyanogenmod 5.0.8
i'm running c.m 6.0 and all i get is a black screen...
It works for me. It starts you out with a 30 day free trail then you gota pay after that
I'm going to install it as a /system/app to see if it makes a difference. That's where I pulled it from on the vibrant. Will report back later.
Edit: ok when i try to push it into /system/app it says that MobiTV.apk is read only. Any way to change that?
Edit: It did not make a difference if its /system/app
its only work on wifi other wise still get the black screen on on tmo 3g
Does not work on Droid. Sits at loading screen and shows it is pulling data but never does anything.with WiFi on, it prompts me to turn it off in order to finish configuration, which it never does over 3G.
pretty impressive, live tv options seem to work. I dont know much about mobitv but i really want television on my phone. Will the full app be available for N1 users or is this as good as itll get for us? thanks
Mines working perfectly. Wonder if it will still run after 30 days. Designed for samsung. If you want live tv on the phone get a slingbox.

Getting the same problem! How did you guys get it to work?
EDIT: Tried it about 3 times and now it works!
EDIT: Needs WiFi after it works to load videos.. sound is VERY low, you need headphones!
I got the MLB At Bat 2011 app working for non supported devices since so many devices aren't supported that clearly can run it.
YOU MUST HAVE A MLB.TV SUBSCRIPTION TO GET THE GAMES!!
You also need to buy the At Bat 2011 app.
I have a nook color, but should work for any device.
I changed the build.prop to contain the fallowing:
ro.product.model=SCH-I800
ro.product.brand=verizon
ro.product.name=SCH-I800
ro.product.device=SCH-I800
ro.product.board=SCH-I800
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/SCH-I800/SCH-I800/SCH-I800:2.2/FROYO/EC02:user/release-keys
rebooted and worked. Should be able to chose any supported device and it will work. This is from the verizon galaxy tab.
I'm very much looking forward to trying this today.
Is there some sort of shortcut that could be made so we don't have to manually edit things every time?
EDIT: it's working! Though the supposed "HD" is far from it, and this is streaming over wi-fi.
I will be checking this out with today's free game of the day!
Now, I just need an easy way to switch the build.prop to watch the games.
the build.fingerprint isn't needed to be changed, works without it. Got it working on my nook color, pretty nice. Need to OC it and have a good fast connetion. Still not near HD though.
Good to know about the fingerprint.
Streaming is working great on my Captivate. Connected on wifi, close to HD after about 30 seconds, but if the connection gets bogged down, the picture loses quality fast.
Nice to have it working, clunky as it is...
I find I need a knead perfect 3G or strong wifi to get decent streaming on my droid2 and nook.

Will changing these settings have any unintended consequences for other apps or the operation of the phone in general? I have a Galaxy S but don't want to stuff anything up just for MLB At Bat.
nm, build.prop is a system file duh?
Congrats on getting this working, jkabaseball.
Are people getting the streaming working on CM7 Stable? I see that Nightly 37 was suggested before Stable came out. I'm on Stable now, and seeing the option, but only getting the white screen. I'm willing to try switching to 37, but it seems like there'd be no reason to do so, given that it's an older version. (Unless something was taken out before the stable release preventing this from working.)
Doesn't work on my nook with cm7. I even copied the signature.....yes I have sub also.
Cm7 installed on the Emmy
Sigh I had high hopes
I have been successful on cm7 stable on my HTC dhd. On a side note, anyone find a workaround to play blackout games?

Just wanted to follow up, and say a HUGE thanks for the info. I modified the build.prop file like you said, and now I can watch the Cardinals anywhere on my Samsung Mesmerize. Just a note it works great even though I am running Voodoo. The only thing that is different is my swype keyboard won't work anymore, says that it was not meant to be used for my device, oh well, I love Cardinals baseball more than swype so who cares!! Other apps that require a specific build.prop might not work. I have a Captivate and the preinstalled Swype does not work while I an using the modified build.prop.
I duplicated my build.prop, renamed the duplicate build.prop.mlb and made the changes. Then when I want to watch baseball, I rename the real build.prop to build.prop.real and rename build.prop.mlb to build.prop and then reboot the phone. I switch it back when I'm done.

This might be too basic to ask, but - do you also have the paid app, rather than the free one? And is the sgs4g flash-capable? Those are also prereqs, in addition to the subscription.
The build.prop changes I posted is for the galaxy tab on Verizon. You should be able to use another device like droid2 build.prop and Skype should work as well. On my nook I thought the galaxy tab would be best.
Working on spoofing location. It mint be a little harder. MLB is pretty good at determining your location even through a VPN. I'm not sure if they are using gps location, which would be easy to spoof, or the network location where the stream is going to. I haven't got it to work on my pc yet, but will keep on working on android.
Just trying to get count on how many are having GPS issues.
symptoms:
1) no direct lock
2) no lock at all
3) triangulated lock
3) Shows you driving 15 ft off road
4) "Bounces around"
5) Losses signal frequently
i have all of the above
I have 0 GPS issues.

Google maps will not follow me.i have to move the screen to keep up.google navigation works fine..also co pilot works fine and it uses zero data so far im happy with the gps...on the captivate i have to start the gps test app. Before i can get a lock
the gps is very good but the setting can cause issues. i had some of the issues you mention, changed the sulp setting to auto config in lbs test mode and set it to msbased to match the secgps.conf file. i tried the google supl server but the gps was worse! the url is long for the server used in auto config so instead of writting it i just suggest you use the auto setting.
after that it works amazingly good, reception indoors is not as good as the nexus s or the atrix but the accuracy and lock times are nothing short of amazing.
also i never use wireless networks, it may try to fall back on it if you have a temporary reception issue and just cause major tracking issues. it is basically useless.
but that said if you always have the issues mentioned and not just occasionally then you may have a problem
Mine works great in maps.. didn't try tracking in Navagation but was playing with the voice on Google widget. Would say "navigate to dominos .Gonzales,la "and it would open Navagation but I can't here or get voice guided.

I went through the same crap as you did yesterday.
Used Copilot , all settings were default (not using wireless network , only using USE gps sattellites)
Took 15-20 minutes to grab a lock ... litterally had to park the car to the side and stick my hand out the window on a clear sunny day (total bull$hit) ... once I got a lock as I was driving on the highway it would occasionally show me driving waaaaaaaay off to the right than I actually was.
I hate admitting but I'm missing my iphone 3g , had instant lockon gps times

the galaxy s has different gps hardware or drivers but it can work adequately, this can work better, swap it out. if the second phone has issues i'll walk you through some better settings for it. i had a lot of experience with the captivate and know some things that mess with it. this however has agps (assisted gps) settings that work much better than the captivate and i recommend using them, after that you will not want to use a different device.

that would be the "use wireless networks" feature, dont use that. gps is never that far off.
turning that off will force gps and it may work better, if not you may need to change the supl settings to get the nmea data to download. agps will also help get the nmea data to download fast from the cell towers and not just from the satalites or wifi. having up to date nmea data makes all the difference.
isnt that used for when wifi is around? so even if im not on a wifi network it wouldn't work? so its like pointless to turn it off or on.?

just turn it off. it is completely useless. i have heard that it works off wifi, but it seems to do something anywhere i go, most people seem to believe that it is cell tower triangulation, either way the accuracy i get from it is as poor as 3600 meters and the center of the blue area is about 1 mile from my actual location. it serves no usefull purpose at all.
On or off still doesn't help

I searched through the Q&A about the S3 GPS, and I couldn't find a similar case to this. Hopefully it's out there.
My job involves a lot of driving, and I use my GPS for literally everything because most of the places are pretty far out there. I've used a Motorola Droid X and an HTC Incredible perfectly for this. The GPS would lock and maintain a signal, and get me there with no problem.
On my Verizon S3, I have an odd issue. It'll take much longer to lock in, and when it finally does, it seems to just freeze up after a few minutes. It'll be stuck on the same remaining time, the cursor will be on the same point in the road despite having passed it, and the distance to the next turn won't update. A little bit afterwards, it'll say signal lost and try searching for the GPS again.
I tried turning power saver off, checking the location services on and off, and yes, I turned it off and back on.
I thought it was an issue due to a preemptive rooting of my phone, so I came home early today and reinstalled the stock ROM. I tried the GPS again, and it had the same exact issue despite not being rooted this time.
Is there any fixes out there, or tutorials, or something that could be causing this? Thanks. Will click the thanks button the video beat over my head.
If it is doing it consistently take it back and do an exchange. I have sold two Galaxy S 3s on Sprint and was able to get a lock in a building pretty quick. Alright, I appreciate the quick help. My dad is currently remaining vigilant in his demand to go through tech support first, so he's working on that. If that fails, I'll definitely try getting another Galaxy. Hopefully I can actually find one.
Maybe they WILL fix it, who knows! Probably not, though.
Question is still open if anyone has any ideas.

Oh christ. Dad just finished with the tech support. They literally just told him to check the location settings to see if everything was checked(which it was when the problem was occurring). Even took it for another test drive and the same problem.
This really does suck sort of, I love the phone but GPS is essential. I hope I can just replace it.
If they give you a hard time return it and go somewhere else to buy it. You have 14 days to return it without breaking contract. Go into the store and see how their display model works.

I had similar problem and just went to Verizon store today for it. The "technical specialist" had ZERO clue. He didn't even know where the location settings are. Anyway, after I showed him the problem in the store he ordered a replacement for me. Didn't even challenge me about trying to use it indoor, or having the WiFi turned off etc. I also tried the demo units they had in store and they all locked instantaneously.
It was pretty easy and I'm glad it's over. I've spent hours trying to figure out whether I'm crazy or the phone is crazy.
Good luck.

In my case I'm sure it's not a user error. I spent hours trying all kinds of things, all possible combination of settings and different locations.

At one point of my testing I turned on VZW location service in location setting and it locked immediately. I was out in the open. I then tried toggling it multiple time, before and after rebooting the phone. It never helped again. I'm guessing in a normal situation it could help locking but it does fix my defective GPS.

Did not disable VZNav and didn't even install any app. I still had the same GPS problem. So I guess in my case I did disable/enable the VZNav app and it didn't seem to be the cause.

Oh well if the GPS doesn't improve later, i'll stop by VZW on my way home and see if i can get an exchange.
Hey, I just came over from ATT to Verizon but I kept with the sgs3 however I'm trying to use my HBO go app to watch HBO and it won't let me choose time warner as a provided... it keeps giving me an error but I was just watching HBO go on my ATT sgs3 like 30 mins ago. I have uninstalled reinstalled rebooted...anyone have any ideas? Please, thank you.

I've never used HBO GO, but just installed and was able to choose Time Warner Cable as my provider. Switched to my actual provider and signed in without a hitch.
Sorry, I can't seem to replicate that issue here - but, it does actually seem to allow Time Warner logins on Verizon phones.
I did all this while connected to WiFi, if that makes a difference.

The app is not working too well with Verizon, it's kind of working today, but not the next day, very frustrating. We just have to wait until they fixed the stupid app.
Well thank you both very much for the response I guess I'll just keep trying.

Is this problem only happening on the Verizon network, then? Have you tried watching/registering over WiFi as a test?
I just checked and HBO GO has Settings -> Preferences with an option on how to connect for Video Playback, for example. The default for me said "Wi-Fi Only" and it went back to that setting even after I told it to also use the phone network last night. Hm . . .
EDIT: Just set the Video Playback value to also use the phone network (which they list as "3G", even though my connection is 4G) and it played back "X-Men: First Class" without a problem.

Okay, this is interesting. I would never think that carriers would have an impact on an app working on the same devices, but it seems to be the case. When I first got my device, stock unrooted, hbo go would not work, opening the app up it would say not compatible with device, but yet I was allowed to download from the play store!? You tell me?
Now running custom roms with all vzw crap frozen, it works just fine. And YES, Time Warner Cable is an option.
So it breaks my f***ing heart to yet again give a big old FU to Verizon and their borderline Apple antics. Wtf vzw, we pay you well to bend us over any time you can. And I said I'd never grow up to be a Whore, thanks Verizon....

That's really weird, as I was testing after seeing this thread and HBO GO installed from the Play store fine, configured with my (non-Time Warner provider) fine and streamed fine. I'm pure stock, having rooted and unrooted a few times for specific needs.
Maybe HBO GO has since been unblocked by Verizon since the OTA, assuming it was blocked before?

Strange thing is I got it working. All I did was make my friends vzw phone a not spot and then connected to it. The all then allowed me to login and now that I'm already logged in I can use the network to actually watch the shows now... did the same thing to get watchespn working...very strange.
