hi
Hi sorry if this is the wrong place to as this question but kindly advise
im planning to buy anew Android phone preferably a HTC(no offense to other brands its just the feeling that a known devil is better than an unknown angel that's all i have been using HTC for around 2yrs and absolutely no problem till date)
i was looking at the tatoo but it seems to be same as my jade with android but it seems to be the only affordable for me so can any one kindly advise on which one to buy
i would have been really happy if i could get android os for my jade but it seems to be an impossibility as of now and my crazy itch to buy anew phone and a android is kinda taking over(the wife is gona kik my A**)
Well, if I Were to make a speculation without being biased.. I would say Flash 10 is coming soon enough and according to Adobe the only 2 android phones strong enough to run the full package are the Nexus and the Moto Droid. All the other models (HTC etc.) are running flash light which is a half baked memory hog.. 'but it works'.
Also, 99% of the applications/mods I have seen are working on the Droid or compiled specifically for the droid.
In the case of you being a 'I dont want to or need to root' person I would say simply... If your going to build a computer.. would you build a 486 or a pentium 3 OR would you build something that will at the least run the current existing and immediate next gen software?
Hope Ive helped you out.

If the OP wants HTC, why not the Desire? Aiui HTC make both the Nexus for Google & the Desire under their own brand; the two are virtually identical wrt hardware, with the Desire being described by some as the Nexus with HTC's Sense ui added. OTOH the Nexus might get more timely updates than HTC's phones.

hi
thanks for ur kind reply but both the phones u mentioned are also quite costly as they have been recently introduced in my country ie India
so i think i will wait for another 6months usually their is a big drop in price around that time
thank for ur kind advise
a X10i would do the job right
x10 is good now, but will get even better with android 2.1 or 2.2!

Except that 2.1 will be released in september.
I would advise not to get the Nexus One. The Nexus One has broken multi-touch (because of the sensor that it uses), poor build quality (touchscreen messing up, weird tint on the touchscreen, paint chipping off, etc), and is showing its age already in the USA.
The HTC devices may have flash lite now (I'm talking about the ones that have HTC SENSE) but they are upgradeable to the latest full flash 10.1 once it comes out.
I would go with the HTC Desire or HTC Legend for now but in the USA T-Mobile USA will release the MyTouch Slide (made my HTC) and it will have the same specs as the Nexus One except it will have a 600 mhz processor versus a 1 ghz processor but it has an external keyboard. If you want that, then you can buy it unlocked.
thanks to all who replied
hi
thanks to all who have been kind enough to reply
but looks like all the phones u have advised on are currently too costly in my country(India) around 400 -500$ roughly its kinda costly for me so i have no other option to may be wait for some time till they do come down in price and it does happen all new phones come down on price in about 3-6 months of their intro but thanks guys it was very very nice of you to give me ur kind advise but i dont know why but if i buy i think it would mostly be a HTC brand some how im very happy with my experience with this brand
thanks again guys so nice of you to give me such nice advise
Simple choice...
HTC Desire. IMHO.
I ordered a SIM free HTC Tattoo today. I have 8 months left on my current 18 month contract with my SE W995 which does pretty much most of what I need however I wanted a phone I could use Spotify on and maybe a few other apps. I was torn between the iPhone (yes I know...) and the HTC Desire, both of which I would need to buy SIM free for £400-£450 but in the end I opted for the HTC Tattoo which while limited in specs compared to my other options it'll still do every thing I need from at at only £180! I may get a new phone when my contract ends, but for now I wanted something inexpensive.
would it cost too much to invest in the Motorola Milestone?
thats the out-of-the-US counterpart to the Droid. same hardware but running Android 2.0.1
just throwing that out there.
also, I'm sure you could find a MyTouch or another htc smartphone on eBay for quite cheap.

You know... good phones are bound to be expensive ...
I'm in a country with similar situation as yours (billions of people!) and I can fully understand the pain you are suffering: want to buy a fair device with reasonable prices.
HTC phones are not cheap at all. Try find a Italian version Dream in gray market. It it old and not fully-functioned like these mentioned above, but its price is also cheaper:250USD in my country with much of the playable features.
Sorry for my poor English. I'm not a native.

Actually, these days, it seems that everything anyone wants to do or figure out has been done before.
There is always a way around something.
Proxies, budgets, wants/needs. I'm pretty sure you could get an unlocked iPhone 3G and run Android on it (via OpeniBoot) or go with an unlocked T-Mobile G1. I'd definitely give you any spare android-running phone I had if I had an extra..... I'm sticking to the droid for as long as I can.
Also, try googling around or asking in Yahoo Answers- I'm pretty sure there's someone out there who is a non-horder who just happens to have a spare Android phone. Sorry for your luck My problem is that I can't use my awesome Droid outside of the U.S. (hence why I mentioned the Motorola Milestone, as that would really come in handy for me)

Hey guys, finnaly i decided to buy the new s2 skyrocket insted of the galaxy nexus phone.
I understand its alredy much more stronger and with the ics update its gonna rock.[am i wrong untill now?]
Im also gonna move from the US soon so i need an unlocked version, i have found only this one due to the fact AT&T/Verison and all thos dont sell the phone without a contract, so i found this one :
https://negrielectronics.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-i727-white-unlocked.html
Is this site reliable? is it new from the manufactore or pre-used? should i trust them? its only says unlocked but does that means sim-free?
Thx guys!
Best thing to do is see if you can get to a Walmart and try to find someone who will sell you a phone without a contract this has worked for several people I know
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
What do you mean "someone" ? just ask people around or is it on sale there?
I bought my Skyrocket from them because I couldn't find anywhere else that sold the white SR unlocked. It was actually cheaper for me to get the SR from them compared to getting the original S2 outright in Sydney, Australia.
The phone is new but they need to open the box to unlock the phone. The plastic film (which says don't text and drive or something like that) is still on the phone when you get it.
I read a couple of reviews about the site online and they seem reliable.
Hi All
Before i start i apologise if this is covered else where but i was unsure where to look and after searching the best i could find was:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692387&page=2
Which is a bit out of date.
I have a HTC Sensation which i have rooted, but still running the standard ICS, i havent flashed it or put a custom ROM on.
I recently got a HTC One S for work and much prefer it.
Therefore I am looking at selling my Sensation, i cant cancel my contract but would benefit from the extra cash.
Therefore I would like to buy a cheap smartphone that is reasonably easy to Root & Flash with a good selection of Custom ROMs available.
Now i know i could probably find this out with plenty of research but I would like peoples opinions on this one.
I would like to pick up a Smartphone for under £100, Root it, Flash it, run what ever ROM i like just so i can use all my minutes etc and keep my personal phone separate.
I would also like a reasonably small phone for this.
What do you all recommend?
I do not understand. You already have that Sensation, want to sell it, but can't. So, you are going to buy a 3rd phone?
UPDATE: Nevermind... I get it. You are stuck in the contract and want to sell your Sensation and replace it with some other phone.
To be realistic, I am not sure you will actually make money doing this. After you compare the going rate of the Sensation vs an older phone, it might just not be worth it to sell. You should definitely make sure this deal makes sense before you go selling your old phone.
I have a Nexus One and I know they released it for the EU market as well. Nice phone. Not too big. Not enough internal flash, but if you are going to root and mod it, you can format the SDcard with ext2/3/4 and move your /data/ mount to the SDcard. Not sure what the going rate for them might be though.
Good point, I was looking on ebay and forgot how to take note that the ones going for reasonable money for the XE and XL.
Mine is only going for £100-£150
I will potentially reconsider.
I will also look into your suggestion, If i could pick up a second hand one and make £100 it may be worth it
Thank you
So recently I repaired my HTC One X's screen for the second time.. (I should have just bought a case and saved myself 120$ that I don't have) However through a course of events the power flex cable broke, the one that runs to the one off button. After some searching on the internet I was able to find the part I needed however there are two versions, one for the US and Canada HTC and another for the international versions. I have the US and Canada phone but the only places I could find the part are through OEM sources and to buy from them I need to run a company. So I was wondering would it be alright to buy the international version for the US phone? I know the actual hardware wouldn't cause any problems but I'm not sure if they would fit... The only other alternative I have is to buy a 60$ broken phone and steal the piece from that. If anyone has ideas on possible alternatives besides the options I have I am all ears.
I have links to them but I am unable to post them since I don't have ten posts.

I doubt you'll find anyone that will be able to give you a difinitive answer since there's very little chance that anyone here has bought both phones, opened them up and compared the parts. We know that the international and carrier locked versions do not have the same internals, the international one X is also a bit thicker. It would be up to you if you want to take the risk but your safest bet would be to buy the part designed for your phone model.
You're welcome to send me the links via PM and I can check them and give my best guess but like I said, it would not be a difinitive answer.
After I cracked my screen, I decided to start looking into different phones. I've seen many phones I like, but they all tend to have the same problem: XDA developers have not decided to toy with the devices! This is a huge problem for me, because, if I buy a phone, it MUST have a large developer-base. Otherwise, I get bored. So, if it's not too much to ask, what is the cheapest, not-ugly-looking phone I can get with the following specs, that has a decent amount of developers working on it?
RAM: 6+ GB
CPU: Octacore Snapdragon 8xx, or a different brand similar to that level
Storage: Either 128+ internal, or 32+ internal with expandable storage
Camera and GPU: Doesn't matter
OS: Android
Date: Doesn't matter
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Again, sorry if I'm asking for too much. If you think your current phone is worth it, please, suggest it. Thank you for reading.
Hello mate, I've been looking myself of late as the last of my back up Nexus devices has packed up.
From what I've browsed over the past few days I'd take a look at the OnePlus range as they seem to have picked up where the Nexus range left off with strong development for pretty much every device they've launched and decent specs for the price point which is what the nexus' were all about for me.
The other thing to bear in mind is that some custom ROM's now use Telegram as a base rather than here on XDA so a good search online may give you a bit more of an idea what's out there if you find something that fits your requirements/budget etc.
Hope that's some help

Thanks a lot! I'll be sure to check out Telegram. Knew about it for some time, but I never checked it out because I didn't know what it was for. Again, thanks for the help. Have a great day.
