HI, i'm having serious problem with my sensation . i'm running an android revolution hd gingerbread, using original radio. After flashing some roms , i realized my wifi dont work anymore. Thought it was beacuse of the new rom so re flashed last rom , but my wifi still dont work. Sometimes they turn on trying to search a network but after few sec the turn off again. What shall i do?
silly question but i had the same problem with a new router and it was a mistype of the password (0-o,i-1,i-I) and so on caps can be a problem

Not a silly quest at all. I can NOT find any network , it says: unable to look for networks and then wifi turn off! this morning they finaly worked but just for few minutes then no more

I had this same problem , but it has been solved by itself. I couldnt turn on my wifi, then one day it started to work. But when I went to Slovakia ( skiing trip ) one week ago, it stopped working again. After few wipes and re-installs it shew earlier saved networks and one new which i couldnt connect to. I had a lot of ROM's and no one works. And I have some problems with camera focus too. After installing some software i cant get focus on camera.

this is usually due to the wifi module in the kernel not working as it should so my suggestion would be to flash a different kernel (bricked or faux) and it should work again

I have changed kernel and my wifi is not working anyway . I'm trying to flash radio but it says "no device found" .

I have tried ARHD, Insert Coin, again, but it doesn't work. I can't even start MIUI, it's still showing "Sensation >> MIUI logo >> Sensation >> MIUI logo >>..."
When i'm turning on wifi on device it show's "turning on WiFi network" and nothing happens, even if its turned off, it sometimes shows "turning on WiFi network" ...
Write if u have flashed radio and it works.

just flashed the radio, nothing happend!
God damn ! Can anybody help ? Can I get my phone back to the deflaut soft and get back everything and install new ROMs again ? I had SE C902 and if i broke sth i flashed all software again and all was working ...

Same thing happened to me on elegancia salvation 3.6 ....I unplugged my router for 5 minutes and BAM..WiFi

OK so I've flashed ics roms and gingerbread roms as well as the matching firmwares for each..ics roms constantly give problems and all the same issues across the board as apps will just close out, constant reboots etc..anyways my major issue now is after flashing the "official tmobile ics release" with the matching firmware my wifi will not stay connected, it will connect, disconnect, reconnect, and so on...ive searched and flash different roms and firmwares but it wont work..ive searched google and forums but haven't found a similar issue or cause/fix..any help would be greatly appreciated..also when it started doing the wifi thing i also realized I'm not getting all my incoming messages now either..im not sure if its a hardware issue or software issue...im at a loss?

Then try to seek if u r useing static or dhcp ip mod then if it ok that way try wifi fix if u were rooted. Good luck

Hi, I have sensation and WIFI problems. Always is in obtaining adress and has problems to stay connected. But i have stock rom and s-on and didn't do root. if there is a fix, could i apply it without root-ing device via 4ext recovery maybe?

hey thanks for the suggestion but as for the rebooting and everything i already tried that fix with no prevail..but my major concern is my wifi not staying connected as tmobile service at my house sucks and i need the wifi to work and stay connected lol..but i def appreciate the help
also to note that like ordroid, arhd etc wont even boot..it just sits on the splash screen..ive gotten arhd to boot like once or twice but still have reboot, and fc issues from the gate, wipe cache, dal. cache etc ancd nothing ever seems to work..im really starting to think its hardware as when i had a sensation before i never had all these problems..

ok as for the s-off method used im not sure as it was already done when i got the phone..everything worked fine and was on a custom gingerbread rom. my current rom is ordroid 6.1.0, kernel bricked 3.0 v1.1, the firmware is 3.32 unlocked..as for the protocol its dhcp..
i was wondering if you think redoing the s-off thing, reflashing firmware etc would possibly help?

I was trying some kernels and the last one was Bricked 1.36 and ViperS 1.1.0 ROM, wifi and other things worked, but today morning i woke up and wifi says "turning on" for 1O minutes, so i restart it. Still turning on. So i reflasherd kernel. Still turning on. So i clear cache, wipe dalvik and fix perimissions. Still turning on.So i flashed whole ROM with kernel Bricked 1.4 and did full-wipe. Still turning in. So i flashed come CM ROM with their own kernel. Still turning on....After some time for try turn it on, it says something like "fault, Fail..."(i am using other language, than english)
My vacation starts just great...
I am of cource S-OFF, HBOOT 1.27, Rooted, Sensation XE.
Can someone give me some advice? i am at the end of my experiences. Thanx!!!
EDIT: wifi was not working about half a hour...but than...voila!!! It is for no reason back working the phone was just liyng on the table, than i took it and just set wifi on, "what if"... that´s really strange, but. But great! Now go back root, s-off and some awesome custom rom

Have you tried to restore the stock ROM?

I agree I would recommend flashing the full ruu to take you back to stock Rom I did the same thing to get rid of my problem and flashing the full ruu did the trick I'm now s off Revolutionary style and flash 4ext custom recovery and su file and custom Rom the correct way

Hi,
I believe THIS PATCH will restore your hboot to 1.27 and not "LOCKED"

I am afraid the worse scenario...burned chip or motherboard.
Or maybe if i get back to S-ON, unroot and restore complete stock...?

Hi,
The other thing worth considering are the 2 gold pins inside the phone,just above the camera lens.
GENTLY lift them to make a better contact.

I am afraid, even this is not working. Pins definetly have some resistance and resting to its place. :-/ when i return from vacation, i´ll take my precious Sensation XE to a doctor, he will know perhaps.
I have this problem too. I've been using ViperS 1.1.0 for a few weeks without any wifi problem. Yesterday, the wifi was working like normal then in the evening I flashed HyperNonsense 3.3 just to try it. Didn't like it, so I restored nandroid of my ViperS, then flashed yank555's faux123 kernel v2.52. I only realised wifi is not working today morning. It just shows "Turning On", but nothing happens. Could it be kernel issue? Previously i was using yank555 v1.9 without any issue thoguh.

mine came with the initial ics ota update a very common problem i see on the net not only wifi but bluue tooth also not work
i installed the latest ota a week or so ago which cured a few bugs but still no wifi or bluetooth
so.... i did jb s offf , root etc installed CM9 this fixed the blue tooth and made the screen move reactive and smooth this is one cool ROM BUT still no wifi
any and all suggestions welcome but please consider i am a noob http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif and may need a few signposts

I honestly don´t know, i thought, wifi is (almost)only kernel related, but now i see, that it is not :/ It is almost exactly my problem, i was using ViperS and changed kernel...but it didn´t suit me, so i restored the previous one...than i woke up and wifi is gone i cant solve it for now, i don´t have any freetime at this moment for making full stock condition.
i have tested stock rom with stock kernel, with some other HBOOT but still the same.

Your wifi stops working through an official update? You should claim it! it is not your fault...for me, everything works, except thing about wifi like tethering etc., thats a serious problem, even reflasing the whole phone (rom, radio, hboot, kernel) doesn't help :/
I had Xperia Arc before Sensation XE and reflash always helps, no matter what happens.

i read that the wifi tether(hot spot)......phone company pressure:cyclops: wont work on any htc phone with ics
dont know if its true though
yes wifi problems after the official update seems quite common and from what ive read htc dont seem to want to know about it
please remember im a noob:fingers-crossed: i installed jb hboot and cm9 rom but that rom is based on 3.33 i think
ill try another rom on the weekend and see what happens

I thing, if you changed rom, kernel etc. and wifi is still not working, another rom will be no help i am afraid but take your chances! it is not working for me. I can flash any ROM, any Kernel and the result is the same...

I was messing around with it today while waiting for a meeting to start and I found where the wifi settings, etc are stored. It ended up being a corrupt/invalid wpa_supplicant.conf file. All I had to do was pull that file out from the directory and turn on wifi and *poof* it worked again. When I turned wifi on it created a new file and everything has been great so far this afternoon.
In case anyone wants to give it a shot who is having wifi issues you can find the wpa_supplicant.conf file in /data/misc/wifi/ directory on your phone. Simply cut/rename the file and put it somewhere else. If you have wifi passwords you want to save, you can open the original file using a text editor and copy the settings over to the new file.
I believe the cause of my issue was actually Titanium Backup. Looking at the last time it backed up my wifi settings was back when I wasn't running ICS yet. Yesterday I did restore an app using it and must have accidentally restored that old backup. Their formats are different from Gingerbread to ICS apparently and it was causing errors.
i found this on another post dont know if it will help but it could be the problem with the ota update from gb to ics

hmmm thats iteresting, but if you do full-wipe and flash some rom and kernel, these files are rewriten...but because i am curious i tried it and!!! it is not working for me :-/
And how to get into this directory?Simply... download dome file manager from Play Market(i lika Total Commander), but you can use whatever you like, set in options "root function everywhere" and allow superuser. than you can go in any directory and read/write/change

I fixed it by doing a full wipe, flashed ViperS 1.2.1, reboot, use the phone for a few minutes, then flashed Yank v2.52.

In vipers there's a new 'force wifi n' in viper settings. Did you try enabling that one?

Its weird ....
Most of the time (98%) it says "wifi error"..... or "wifi connecting"... but nothing ever happens (No connection , No wifi networks)
Once i woke up in the morning .... i tried to turn on wifi ... and it connected for about 5 min ... and then "wifi error"..... or "wifi connecting".
It's been like this for about a month....
The weirdest thing happened two days ago.... the phone fell down, (thank god i had a jelly case on) ... after a while the wifi was ok .... for about 20 min ... connected to wifi network .. downloaded apps.... went on facebook .... and then it started going (ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF) really fast...
I RESTARTED the phone ... an then (ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF) really fast... AGAIN ...
After 1-2 reboots.... i got the classic "wifi error"..... or "wifi connecting".

After 1-2 reboots.... i got the classic "wifi error"..... or "wifi connecting".

Are you sure that the problem isn't coming from your router?
if you have data plan on your phone (gprs or 3g) download getril from playstore,maybe your baseband is not matching well..just try is free...
I don't think its the router.... cause ive tried connecting to various routers .... friends, hotspots etc.... its a phone think for sure.

I haven't played with my Sensation in a while, but I have heard that the HTC phones have a tendency to get the wifi wire "loose." It might be a hardware issue - there are instructions for going in and reconnecting the wire to make the wifi antenna more "secure" - maybe attempt that?
You were right....
The Baseband and RIL didn;t match .... now they do ... thanks to getril... BUT PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. !!!!

The Sensation has golden pins that connect to the back cover in order to receive signal, be it WiFi or mobile signal. Maybe the pins for WiFi aren't touching the golden parts on the inside of the back cover, causing the same effect to signal strength that taking off the back cover results in.

got a sensation (vodafone) with stock everything. did unlock and s-off and it installed revolutionary hboot. flash latest firmware 3.33 universal and all hell broke loose, no wifi on any rom, kernel or any boot.img i tried flashing. stress i tell you!!!. after days of agony i tried going back to 3.32 firmware universal and it worked. so avoid the 3.33 firmware, KILLS wifi!!!
I am back in 3.32 for about 2 days now because i read about this possibility of wifi error on 3.33 .....
I am running the Viper S 1.5.2 wich as it says works with 3.33 but i have no probs with 3.32 at the moment... EXCEPT THE CLASSIC wifi error...
Maybe i should flash a 3.32 cpmatible ROM ... just to make sure ~!!!???
Which rom do you Use... and which 3.32 ??

Any ICS rom should be compatible with 3.32. Firmware. However, I doubt it's a 3.33 issue. I've been running 3.33 for quite some time now and never had ANY Wi-Fi problems.. but it's worth a try . I hope you get your issue fixed! Check the rom before you install and it should tell you if it requires 3.32 or 3.33. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

I got same issue with WiFi works and then loses connection . Can't download any big files like roms. I'm on 3.33 firmware and running arhd with anthrax kernel . Gonna try 3.32 firm wen I get home . Oh it happens on all roms and kernels . Must hardware related or firmware related . Also notice some black spots where the WiFi and data pins touch might try cleaning those and see if it helps

Go into your WiFi Router Settings and switch the Channel from Automatic to Channel 11.

I have a problem with my HTC Sensation XE: Can't get the WiFi working.
When i hit the switch to put it ON, it stays on OFF and gives me "Turning on WiFi..." message forever.
- It is not a Radio / RIL problem since, i've tested many ROM's with many Radio / RIL's and it still doesn't work.
- It's not a Hardware problem since, sometimes, it works after various reboots or battery unplugs.
- When i write "getprop" in the terminal i get:
[wifi.interface]: [wlan0] | but if i write ifconfig wlan0 down the answer is SI0CGIFFLAGS no such device
[wifi.softap.interface]: [wlan0]
[wifi.softapconcurrent.interface]: [wl0.1]
[wifi.supplicant_scan_interval]: [15]
[wlan.driver.status]: [unloaded]
[wlan.sim.enabled]: [1]
I really don't know how to get it working again.
[Questions]
* What does the WiFi working / not working depends by? Kernel, Firmware, Radio, RIL, ROM ecc ?
* Is there any way to fix this?

I've tried a lot of kernels while changing ROMs but, the problem doesn't seem to get fixed ( actually i'm on a SebastianFM kernel ), however, after the WiFix got installed and activated through *#94349#, i've restarted the phone and the WiFi worked for 2 minutes ( in fact it scanned for wireless network, recognized them and almost connected ). After 2 mins, the WiFi stopped working again and, while trying to reactivate it, I saw that now I can't even deactivate it and i get the "Turning WiFi off..." message
Even tried to change the country code in the app from US to IT ( i'm in Italy ) but nothing happens...
At least i can confirm that it is not a hardwer problem.

take out your back cover and lift up gently the pins which are responsible for the wifi
after that check your wifi
I had it too. But when I install revelation 1.0.2 rom and flash sebastian kernel it works good.

Hello, I have a problem which is almost similar to yours. I tested EVERYTHING, i mean everything i could find in this forum and in the internet. I knew that the Sensation has a problem with the Wi-Fi when i was buying it. (I bought it second hand - the seller told me that the problem with the wifi came after an official update to 4.0.4 Android). It was on low price so i starter looking for a solution to the problem. I found so many things and i said to myself that i will buy the phone, fix it using the forum (I really love u guys, on all my 4 Android phones i used ROM from here) and use the phone with no problem. So i bought the phone. Unlocked the bootloader, made it S-ON, installed 4ext recovery and starter trying everything to fix my problem. I will describe my problem now :
I Installed all versions of ICS, JB (4.1, 4.2 and 4.3), all the various kernels - the problem is that, when i turn the WI fi on i use the phone for 1-2-3 minutes (depends on the load and things i do on the phone) and after that it freezes and reboots. This is on everyrom ! Also while the wifi is turned on, if i want to lock the phone and turn-off the screen - the phone reboots again. I tried to use it without SIM card, tried WiFix Manager on all the ROMs and it didn't help. On ICS ROM WiFix manager helped me to get rid of that "Turning WI-fi on....." message and turns the wi-fi on, but the problem with the reboots persists. I asked the developers of the ROM, wrote in the SebastianKernel thread about that (they just didn't wanted to help me after i told them that flashing boot.img and WiFix doesn't work , I am with 4ext recovery with enabled "smart flash" - no problem with the boot.img) Now i am with MIUI ROM + Sebastian r31 with aroma installer kernel- also having the problem. Can anyone help ?
P.S : I took the phone to a service ( to exclude a hardware problem) and they confirmed that the phone has no hardware issue, the problem comes from the software. I attached a last_kmsg file from such kind of a reboot when the wi-fi is on and i try to turn off the screen.
P.S 2 : I Just installed GetRIL apps to get my RIL and the app says "Unknown RIL Found" ot shows my md5sum and the baseband but the RIL is not found ? What does this mean ?

This process will start a long journey of going back S-OFF, installing recovery, Unlocking bootloader etc. and will consume a decent amount of time which i am not sure i have. Are u sure that going back to the far past RUU at any point will solve my problem ?

I don't think this will solve ur problem as I also had the same problem if WiFi and BT for 1 year and I was not able to solve it (story is long) I the tried every thing ruu etc nothing worked , but when I disassembled and reassembled my phone from local market it started to work and I was like o.0 only that fixed my fix problem and its working till now

actually if you are on S-OFF you will remain on S-OFF after ruu installation
so need for S-OFF again nor unlocking bootloader again
if you are on S-ON just use the unlock.code bin after ruu installation to unlock the bootloader
no need for extra steps
