Hello,
I have been lurking in this forum for some time now and am leaning towards getting the HD2. I intend to use it heavily browsing the Internet for research purposes and copying selections on the clipboard for later use. Is there a way (an app maybe) that allows you to use your finger to scroll through the pages and also immediately select text. I read somwhere that in order to select text you have to first press the menu button then press the select text option . Too much work especially if you intend on copying many snippets of text. Is there a browser that will let you select text immediately wthout having to go through extra presses.
Thanks
Copy Paste It! I'm testing out the trial version right now. Will report back with results.
Update: Ok, it works using image recognition technology, so it may not be perfectly accurate. They did say it would become more accurate over time, however. You can either select the copy option from the notification bar or shake your device to bring up the menu. Then you simply drag the box over what you want to copy and it will copy! You can even copy things off your homescreen or text in images. I'd only like a way to bring it up via a long-press. Otherwise I just can't justify spending $4 on it. I don't want to be waving my EVO around every time I want to copy some text.
good find...im looking into it myself.
my question is simple, i love the keyboard, i do not want to switch to anything else, yet i can not find the option to put a space after i choose a suggested word, so i constantly have to go back and insert spaces between words
any ideas?
no takers?
No idea here, but if you find a solution I would love to hear about it.
I've just gotten my HP Keyboard in the post. It's very sleek and is great to use.
However, it does have a pretty big flaw (especially now with the QuickOffice update): Keyboard shortcuts.
It has a control button, which only has two uses: 1. Hold it while using the arrows in a text box to move along whole words, 2. Ctrl+3 brings up the notification area, which is odd as it has it's own button.
Would it be possible in any way (homebrew or otherwise) to add standard keyboard shortcuts: Copy, Paste, Cut, Select All, etc? Using all those functions is just a natural part of how I use a computer and I'll know I'll forever be trying to use them.
Still, despite those issues, I'm glad with my purchase. It'll be good for my laptop (especially when I want to use the HDMI out and the lid is closed), PS3 and my Android phone.
Edit: The ability to scroll and navigate cards with the arrow buttons would also be very nice, but probably harder to implement.
Looking into it right now. Probably needs a binary patch on LunaSysMgr, someone please correct me if I'm wrong (and I sincerely hope I am).

Agreed. I managed to copy a web address from one website today using the drop-down menu's copy command, but when I went to a forum to paste the address on a "link" attachment, I couldn't figure out how to to it. Still don't know.
That would be a great fix.
I saw a thread listed for the Transformer Prime similar to this, but none here.
While travelling, I used Polaris and a bluetooth keyboard to work on a paper I'd started at my PC, in Word .docx format. (I use Dropbox and Dropsync on my GNote to keep the files synced.)
I was really happy with how well Polaris seemed to work as a Word compatible tool, especially with the BT keyboard. I also have OfficePro and DocsToGo Pro, which I had used interchangeably prior to this, but Polaris seemed like a possible all-in-one replacement. As a note, my main issue with DocsToGo is that it won't open a lot of inserted images and tables within Word docs. OfficePro and Polaris display them, DocsToGo often just puts in a square outline of them, with text "unsupported format" or similar. (They are screen grabs pasted in, not any unusual formats. Go figure.)
Well, I just opened up the Word doc on my PC. The good news is that the ten pages I added while traveling are there, so I won't have to rewrite them.
But the bad news is that Polaris somehow corrupted hundreds of line breaks/word wraps. So now, inexplicably, the word mortgage is split on to two lines as "mo" and "rtgage." This error is repeated throughout the document. Worse, the error is not only at the start and end of lines where it is easy to find, but some words are split in the middle of a line, such as "e conomy."
Anyone else see this behavior before?

EDIT: Thankfully, Dropbox is awesome and automatically caches previous versions, so I only have to fix the pages I added while travelling and paste them in to the previous properly formatted version.
I have this exact same issue as well, and it persists when copying and pasting the text to a word doc. I don't have a solution, just wanted to add my voice to hopefully get this resolved.

Thanks for the response-- I was starting to think it was just me! :silly:
I'm going to keep using OfficePro and DocsToGo for the most part.

I did find a workaround for this issue just right now. Simply copy the text from the corrupted Word doc to Notepad, then re-copy the text from Notepad and back into a new Word doc. The formatting is lost, but so is the annoying text wrapping.

A faster way with the same results is to clear all formatting of the text. Select this option from the Style menu. Offcourse, afterwords you should format again. You will see Polaris messed up all standard Word styles...
To fix this problem in Word, open the document, in the Styles menu - Change Styles - Style Set - Reset to Quick Styles from Template. Save the doc, re-open it and it should be fixed.
