Titanium Backup

i want to restore my Galaxy S to the stock rom, but i want to retain all my apps that i have installed and settings etc...
so in titanium backup, should i batch backup just user installed apps, or user installed apps + user data?

Just installed apps. User data is like.. brightness, bluetooth, roaming etc system settings that won't be compatible across different types of ROMs

app-data is the data saved by apps (saved games, saved pwds, etc)

This is probably a little late I know, but I always back up apps + data.
This will allow me to go into my apps without having to log in again and also apps like Mileage will have all my entries still in there.
So... my suggestion is to always back up both apps and data every time.

Titanium BU for App data

How do I backup apps with their corresponding data? I noticed when I batch backup just the apps & then reinstall them in the future, the data that I created with the apps (i.e. recordings from Voice Recorder, files from Color Note, etc.) don't get saved. It gets saved when I do a batch backup of the apps with system data. The problem is there are so many things I don't care to save from the system data. I just want the corresponding data for each app.

[Q] Looking for an app that automaticaly backups Callendar data

I will have Galaxy S4 (i9500) shortly (currently have sgs+) and I'm looking for an application that will allow me to backup the local callendar data that are written localy in the phone (not on google account) to my dropbox folder.
All I need, is an application that will either automaticaly (ideally) detect I made some changes in the local callendar (like add event, delete event etc) and it will automaticaly make a backup of the callendar and copy(or overwrite if there was already a file there with backup) it to a local destination path that I will define, or will do a periodic backups in the intervals that I will define (like say every 7 days).
So once that happens (copy the backup file to a path), dropbox app will detect the change in the local structure of it's folders, and will upload the changed file to the dropbox cloud.
All in all, that will help me prevent some tragedy, in case my phone will go bust suddenly without any notice and my local data will get lost (in consequence all my hundreds, and hundreds of events written inside the local callendar).
Anybody know of an application like that?

It does the job :good:

You're very close to my parameters, but still it's off by 2 factors.
1. Although it has scheduled backups, it can be only set for contacts, sms and call logs. No callendar backup option for scheduling.
2. Although it allows to specify the backup path (very good), It changes the filename, so I cannot pick one and the same file to be overwritten over and over again.
But you're very close, I appriciate the try.
To sum up my requirement with one last note, I want the backups to be happening without any action on my part, I want it to be done completely automaticaly, either by a schedule or by detection of callendar change that will trigger the backup (like for example dropbox application).

It doesn't.
I found another app "my backup", which is the closest one to my needs. It has scheduled backups, and it does allow me to select only callendar. The only thing missing is that it adds automaticaly the date at the end of the backup file.

In the end I found an application fitting my bill close enough. It's called My Backup, it makes backups of many things, but I cen specificaly sellect callendar only. It allows me to select the backups path, and although it does add the date to the end of the file of backup, it allows me to set how many of those backup files will be there in the destination path. So if I choose 1, it will be making backups over and over again, with new filenames, but it will always just leave the most recent one, and the rest will be deleted automaticaly, which is also a good solution on it's own, combining it with dropbox.
The only problem they have with application which they told me are planning to change, is that the restoration of the callendars can happen on either local or online callendar, and it's not determined by the user, but it happens by chance (very strange if you ask me). Second is that they backup all events local as well as online, while I would preffer only local to be backup'd, since online ones are being stored on google servers anyway.
But, all in all the application fits the bill, and when they include those 2 fix for the above issues it will fit perfectly. Thanks to all people who tried to help.

The Best Backup Option 2023

Hello, I've had the oneplus 8T for 2.5 years now. For a week now I have rooted it again, after 2 years ago. So I did a backup until today with the oneplus app. And I manually uploaded it to the cloud.
So I'm looking for an app that can backup apps, data, SMS, call logs, contacts, settings and the layout of folders on the phone's desktop. And of course the application can upload the backup to the cloud. To be able to have the scheduling option.
I did some research on my own and discovered the Following, but I need your help.
Swift Backup:
Backup apps, data, call logs, contacts, sms.
Stores the backup in the storage and in the cloud.
I also discovered Neobackup, Titanium Backup and Backup rom. Can you write me what are the differences between them? Because I haven't understood...
I read somewhere that Neobackup is the best but it does not backup call logs, sms, contacts. And it doesn't upload to the cloud either.
Note, the comments I read about swift, it was 2022. So I want answers with the latest versions of these apps.

Swift Backup is the best overall

kaskander​TWRP/OrangeFox backups whole device partitions (like /system or /data) with everything inside them.
By restoring this backup you can revert your whole device (android version and your data) to the state on the time of backup.
Apps like swift, titanium, neo backup, backup your apps and their settings, also you can try to backup system apps settings to restore layout of folders (lancher app settings backup).
Titanium backup was once a gold standard of android backup apps, but as it is not being developed since 2019, it can't handle split apks and doesn't work very well with the latest android versions. So it can still be used, but not recommended.
Swift backup works well with the latest android versions, you can choose to backup your apps and data locally or on google drive or something similar. If you backup your apps in the cloud you can easily access those backups from another phone and restore them.
Backup files are encrypted too and app is proprietary one.
Neo-backup, as far as i understool does everything as Swift backup, and is open sourced.

Quota and Functionality Questions related to Device Backup

I am confused about inconsistences between Device Backup on two different Pixel phones:
On my old Pixel phone, the Backup app says the backup will use Google One storage, so I do not have it turned on.
On my new Pixel phone, the Backup app doesn't mention Google One. In fact, it explicitly states that the device backup will not count towards "Drive" storage.
I'm not sure the new Pixel phone is fully patched (just took it out of the box) so it's possible the software hasn't been updated to reflect the Google One service.
I have the following questions:
Does the device backup count towards a Google storage quota or not?
Is there a difference between Google One and Google Drive?
On both devices, the device backup states that the information is encrypted before being uploaded, but it is not clear whether the backup is inaccessible by Google (can Google decrypt the backup)?
The device backup states that it will backup: apps, app data, call history, contacts, device settings (including Wifi passwords) and SMS & MMS messages. How do I restore these things on the new phone if I back them up on the old phone first?
Can I selectively restore apps and app data for only a few apps? There are some apps that are device-specific (e.g. Syncthing) where I don't want to necessarily restore the settings and app data associated with that app, because my shared folders will be located in a different place on the new phone. I would rather set up from scratch and establish my new folder locations, then allow the files to sync through Syncthing.
Thanks for any answers you can provide to these questions.
I would also welcome links to resources that explain how this works, especially vis-à-vis the new Google One branding.
