Titanium BU for App data - General Questions and Answers

How do I backup apps with their corresponding data? I noticed when I batch backup just the apps & then reinstall them in the future, the data that I created with the apps (i.e. recordings from Voice Recorder, files from Color Note, etc.) don't get saved. It gets saved when I do a batch backup of the apps with system data. The problem is there are so many things I don't care to save from the system data. I just want the corresponding data for each app.

Titanium Backup

i want to restore my Galaxy S to the stock rom, but i want to retain all my apps that i have installed and settings etc...
so in titanium backup, should i batch backup just user installed apps, or user installed apps + user data?
Just installed apps. User data is like.. brightness, bluetooth, roaming etc system settings that won't be compatible across different types of ROMs
gotcha thanks!
app-data is the data saved by apps (saved games, saved pwds, etc)

This is probably a little late I know, but I always back up apps + data.
This will allow me to go into my apps without having to log in again and also apps like Mileage will have all my entries still in there.
So... my suggestion is to always back up both apps and data every time.

Moving setting to new phone?

I have a Galaxy S that I used until today. Then I bought a Galaxy S3 and moved my SIM card from the S to the S3. How can I transfer the settings, data, and apps from the S to the S3? Currently the S is connected via wifi.
Have you considered using Titanium Backup?

I would suggest you to make a copy of your /data partition on your old phone and transfer it to your new one. The directory map /data/data itself contains several subdirectories containing essential app settings and personal data, such as sqlite databases with personal information (contact list, messages, et cetera). The /data/app keeps your currently uninstallable apps (whilst the /sys/app also holds your uninstallable apps as well). A nandroid backup on /data would surely do the job, unless if you you prefer to do to it manually.

So would /data/data contain the login/password for the apps that I was able to backup/restore (using App Backup I think it was called)? While I was able to backup the apps they don't have some of the data that belongs to them, such as login.
Yes, most likely. Each app has a corresponding subdirectory in /data/data which contains settings and other parameters for the app. There are a numerous system apps that points out where a specific app's data is being stored, such as Android System Info (free) and AppXplore (also free).

If both your phones are rooted, use titanium backup pro or mybackup

Does deleting photos from whatsapp folder also deletes them from Google Drive backup?

I've installed Whatsapp on a new phone, and during installation all messages and photos were restored to the phone from the backup in Google Drive. Now I want to delete all photos from the Whatsapp folder on the phone, because they occupy a lot of space.
The question is whether during the daily automatic backup of Whatsapp to Google Drive, the same deleted images will also be deleted from the backup? i.e. will deletion be synchronized, or maybe the photos will be restored to the device from the backup?
I don't want them to be restored to my phone again, but I do want them to remain backed up in Google Drive so if I'll install Whatsapp on another device in the future, I'll be able to also restore the photos if I want.

Actually, you can also back up data on your oneplus phone to your computer by using oneplus data manager software. Usually, data including contacts, text messages, call logs, photos, videos, music, ebooks, etc can be easily transferred to computer for backup. Maybe you can have a try. Hope this will be your help.
I also use OnePlus Switch for some of my backup needs...
And if you just want to backup the apk, SAI has a "backup" options that extracts the apks. Very convenient

The Best Backup Option 2023

Hello, I've had the oneplus 8T for 2.5 years now. For a week now I have rooted it again, after 2 years ago. So I did a backup until today with the oneplus app. And I manually uploaded it to the cloud.
So I'm looking for an app that can backup apps, data, SMS, call logs, contacts, settings and the layout of folders on the phone's desktop. And of course the application can upload the backup to the cloud. To be able to have the scheduling option.
I did some research on my own and discovered the Following, but I need your help.
Swift Backup:
Backup apps, data, call logs, contacts, sms.
Stores the backup in the storage and in the cloud.
I also discovered Neobackup, Titanium Backup and Backup rom. Can you write me what are the differences between them? Because I haven't understood...
I read somewhere that Neobackup is the best but it does not backup call logs, sms, contacts. And it doesn't upload to the cloud either.
Note, the comments I read about swift, it was 2022. So I want answers with the latest versions of these apps.
Swift Backup is the best overall
kaskanderTWRP/OrangeFox backups whole device partitions (like /system or /data) with everything inside them.
By restoring this backup you can revert your whole device (android version and your data) to the state on the time of backup.
Apps like swift, titanium, neo backup, backup your apps and their settings, also you can try to backup system apps settings to restore layout of folders (lancher app settings backup).
Titanium backup was once a gold standard of android backup apps, but as it is not being developed since 2019, it can't handle split apks and doesn't work very well with the latest android versions. So it can still be used, but not recommended.
Swift backup works well with the latest android versions, you can choose to backup your apps and data locally or on google drive or something similar. If you backup your apps in the cloud you can easily access those backups from another phone and restore them.
Backup files are encrypted too and app is proprietary one.
Neo-backup, as far as i understool does everything as Swift backup, and is open sourced.
Alternative to Titanium Backup?
Hey everyone, I've been using Titanium backup for a few weeks now but one thing irks me about it.. even though it successfully backs up my apps and I assume my data - when it comes to restoring the backup, it always re-installs the apps in a...
