[Q] Does the Photon Q have anything like this? - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

The short article mentions it being a Verizon thing, and thus hopefully isolated only to them, but thought I'd throw this out there just as a possible heads up to look for for those who've already bought it:
http://phandroid.com/2012/08/27/root-checker-found-in-droid-4-and-droid-razrmaxx-ice-cream-sandwich-builds/

my Q has the same 3 didit code on the stock recovery just more stuff companies are adding to keep tabs on everyone

I'm fairly certain mine has that also... Don't remember how to get back to that screen though. If you turn off the phone, then hold vol - and power to turn it back on you enter the Fastboot Mode which also tells you if the device is Locked or Unlocked and gives you a Status code that I assume is pretty similar to this Droid 4 code.

You can get the stock recovery with Vol+ and Camera. I just pulled it up on mine.
It's got the same "QE 0/0" thing as in those screenshots.

[Q] Can't Boot Into Bootloader

First, let me say I am a noob and not a developer, just more of a phone enthusiast. That said, my problem is that I cannot boot into the bootloader on my AT&T HOX. I have read through many threads on how this is done (Pwr+VolDown), but it simply doesn't work for me. After about 4 seconds, my nav button baklights flash a few times, then stop. From this point, I have tried two things...1) contine holdign pwr+voldown for well over a minute, nothign happens and 2) releasing the pwr+voldwn bottons and then pressing again and holding for what seems to be an eternity, but still nothing happens. Note that I'm having no issues with a normal boot.
The caviat: in order to sync my company's corporate email via exchange, I have to enable administrator rights by my company's IT policies (which totally blows, I know). This forces encryption on phone storage, even though I think it's really just the sector that houses files related to my exchange account. Regardless, I'm wondering if the administrative rights or encryption is what's preventing me from accessing my bootlader.
Thoughts? I know the thing I should so is just remove my exchange and disable the administrator rights, but to do so I am forced to factory reset the phone, which I'd like to prevent doing unless that's all there is left to do.
Any help is appreciated. If this is a dumb noob question and I missed a previous thread containing a solution, please link and I wont keep this thread going. thanks a lot.
Why are you trying to get into H-Boot? Are you trying to re-flash your phone with the stock ruu or something?
Anyways, to answer your question. No your admin stuff is in no way causing the phone not to get to h-boot, and it's there, I don't think I've ever heard of a phone that boots that can't h-boot.

To be honest, at this point I am only trying to access it out of curiosity. But ultimately I am checking it out because I have started to have a lot of connectivity problems with wi-fi and was looking into flashing the 1.82 update floating around. I was going to wait until the offical OTA update, but the wi-fi problem is getting worse, or at least it's effecting me more. Anyway, was just looking into accessing it. I initially noticed that I couldn't get in last week when reading a battery thread on calibration since my first couple days witht eh phone had very poor battery life. But it's improved since then and I never went back to check until the wi-fi issues proved annoying. Since I haven't rooted a device before, i figured I woudl familiarize myself with some of the basic steps before assuming I would just jump right in. Checking out how to h-boot seemed like a good place to start.

disable fastboot in power options. turn the phone off. Hold down and power, you should see your h-boot
Also if you're looking to flash the unreleased it's just an exe that you run.... it's easy.
^This. Need to disable fast boot in your power options first.

Thanks guys, this is likely the case. I thought I disabled fast-boot mode the other day, but apparently I did not. I'll give it a shot in a little bit when I get back to my desk and let you know if I'm still stuck.
Also, re the unreleased RUU, yeah the thread made it sound pretty simple. there were various folks having issues after the update, so I'm just going to monitor for a few more days to see how my phone performs and if there comes official word of a carrier OTA update.
Thanks again.

[Q] Is my phone bricked???

Okay, I bought a used MT4GS from a fairly reputable phone reseller called CPR (cell phone repair.) I bought it back in March or April of this year. I immediately rooted and installed a custom rom and CWM. A few months ago I upgraded my rom to CM9 and about a month ago I began having problems. The isses were minor at first, the hardware buttons on the outside of the phone would stop working but I could open the phone and use the ones on the keyboard. Then in the past two weeks all of the buttons would stop working. I thought it was a hardware problem so today I dropped it off at CPR and they took it apart and tested all of the buttons. According to them all the buttons tested out fine. So I have a phone that the only thing that works is the touch screen. Here is the odd thing. If I hold the volume down while booting I get the fastboot menu and can navigate it using the volume keys. If I go into recovery mode none of the buttons work same as in the phone. So either this is a software problem or a systemboard problem. Because my power and volume buttons work on the recovery menu I'm inclined to believe it's a software problem but I'm a little lost on how to fix it. I just tried to boot the phone again and it's now stuck on the boot animation and does nothing. Please help!!!
I was curious if you tried a reinstall before your keys went completely berserk...but no matter now. Sometimes a person will get a bad download though and you can get some WEIRD results from them.
Anyway....this is how I answered on the CM9 Thread if you hadn't seen it......
I've never heard of a ROM brickng a phone especially gradually but I suppose anything is possible. If what you're wanting to do is to return to stock & just kinda "start over" then just go to This Thread and scroll down to the files labeled as "Return to Stock" & download the correct file according to your installed software. Then you can just place it in the root directory of your SD card and reboot into Hboot. PG59IMG files are designed to run from your bootloader and you just answer the few questions it asks as it does.

Yeah I actually did that last night. Got to watch the intro animation from HTC/T-Mobile etc. Still no buttons. I'm guessing that the system board has a bad chip since the buttons tested out okay. That is more consistent with the gradual failure than a software bug. Now if there were a rom made for a phone without buttons then I'd be in good shape. Luckily I found an identical phone on Craigslist for $85 which I feel is reasonable for a discontinued phone. Does anybody have recommendations on QWERTY Android phones for T-Mobile that are better than the MT4GS?
Someone mentioned that Samsung is coming out with one soon but I can't remember the name for squat.
If it's for T-Mobile then I suggest the Samsung Relay 4G. Else better wait for Samsung Stratosphere 2 fior Verizon if you might consider changing networks for the sake of a better phone.
THAAAAT'S the one! Samsung Relay 4G. Thank you kind sir!:good:

Samsung also.
First off let me say I'm sorry about the death of your MT4GS - mine died over a month ago and I'm still in mourning. However, the Relay is a nice little device. I don't want to be accused of attempting to recruit people again, but at the risk of saying so it is an upgrade from the HTC product in MOST ways - some people don't like the screen as much and the camera is definitely inferior. However, it's a nice device. I'm happy with it honestly. TouchWIZ takes some getting used to but since HTC didn't give us ICS, even ICSense... and Samsung has ICS on here with JB to come... I'm satisfied. If you are still curious we have a thread in the G2/Desire forum that we are using until XDA gives us a dedicated forum.

What the heck did I just buy ?

Hello folks, I guess I need help with this one :
Not a big Samsung fan but found a good deal on a S7 (craigslist) and got the phone without much homework.
After getting it home, see a few things that I don't like :
back plate says is 'Galaxy S7' and looks legit to me
power up screen also says 'Galaxy S7'
and displays t-mobile logo (supposed to be a tmobile phone)
but settings > about phone >model says 'SM-G920T'
Which turns out is NOT a model for S7 from what I can google.
Also - looks very thin on apps, as in hardly any at all, but has something called 'kingroot' which looks rather strange to me. Samsung including this on their phones ?
So, what the hell is this thing ? Is there a way to tell if it's been played with software or hardware wise ?
Any help from the connoisseurs of all things Samsung Galaxy greatly appreciated. And I know I', in the right forum for that, so thanks in advance.
BTW - not putting a SIM card or connecting this to any private wifi till I have some idea what it is I'm looking at.
Thanks
Sounds like a s6 from the model number, is there a space to put in an sdcard? If not then its an s6.
Yes, there's a tray holding the nano-sim+microSD card. Need to eject with a pin of some sort, in this case was a paperclip.
I know - search results point to S6, but that doesn't look right either.
Why I'm wondering what this thing is
Hope the experts will chime in.
Please post pictures of all sides. Also check image and video resolution and if the camera on the back has working image stabilization (open camera and move device while watching camera, it should stabilize itself)
Sounds like a fake to me
Try putting the phone in Download or Recovery Mode and see what it says.
Vol-Down + Home + Power on for download mode, Vol-up + Home + Power on for recovery.
It's probably a fake phone. Checking what the baseband version is in the Settings menu may help too.

Some more info following your advice (thanks all !!!)
baseband : G930FVPU1APV5
there's no IMEI on the back that I can see/identify
recovery mode stops at a dead android screen saying 'no command' (that stopped my heart too for a sec ) , then the home button goes to recovery menu that says
system recovery <3e>
LMY47I test-keys
and a lot more that mostly does nothing - no ROM anywhere I looked
Apply update from sdcard/cache - no go
reboot to boot loader did not work either, unclear why and no time now to play with this
The good news : it is a working phone, the seller was using it and took out his sim and sd card after using it.
Bad news : still no clue what I got, some kind of frankenphone.
I will try to upload pics - only I don't know how yet
Whatever this is, since can't trust it in current state, what ROM should I put on before trying to do something with it . And if I install another ROM, would this be safe to use - assuming it does what I want it to do ?
Thank you all for the replies, will keep digging and still hope some expert will weigh in.
Your help greatly appreciated.

Okay, so I'm dumb getting a phone I know nothing about from a stranger. Your point is??
So got into bootloader and got jiggy with it and it says it's a 930f.
And assume it will be good enough for what I need.
I'll go full geek on it and find a good rom.
Anything that has the fm radio app?

hey dude, I did not called you dumb but pretty sure what you did was not smart. why don't you send us some pictures of the phone? especially from the sides and back and we can quickly see if it's a ripoff or not.
No, I'm dumb and manly enough to admit it.
Did not do my homework so is my fault and paying for it.
In better news looks like I may have something I can work
with.
As long as I can get a rom I like. What's on it now is definitely debilitated, hardly anything there but don't trust it.
That and don't have a nano sim yet.
Waiting for rom recommendation, preferably with fm radio included.
Thanks again all!
I don't think you understand. Alot of people here believe you have a counterfeit phone. If you do, then you have something that may have 1/4 the screen resolution, 1/4 the power and 1/5 the camera quality of the S7. Get the IMEI (settings > about phone) and check on swappa to confirm if you have a S7. Also, If you have a black image, does the screen off or does it have a slight glow (OLED screen should be off when a black image is on screen). If you do have a counterfeit, no rom on this forum will work with your phone. The other thing to check would be to try to boot to download mode, as only authentic samsungs have it. It's important as most rooting/custom roms involve you first flashing something in download mode via Odin.
Here are instructions for entering download mode:
Switch off your smartphone completely.
Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
Release these buttons when the Warning screen pops up.
I also fell for a counterfeit a few months ago. I spent ~$600USD on a white S7 from ebay. Fortunately, Ebay's seller protections were able to allow me to return the phone for a full refund.
"I also fell for a counterfeit a few months ago. I spent ~$600USD on a white S7 from ebay. Fortunately, Ebay's seller protections were able to allow me to return the phone for a full refund. "
I also fell for some fake headphones from eBay. Broke after 4 mos, sent them to Shure for warranty, came back "counterfeit". Found out Paypal has a 180 day refund policy. Notified them and had a full refund from the seller in about 5 min. Just an FYI.
Looks like either:
1. A cheap Chinese clone
2. A rooted Galaxy S6 (which is what the kingroot app is AFAIK).
Get your SN and restore it through Samsung Switch in Windows. This way you will find your phone back to a stock rom and not custom rom.
OK gang, is a clone s7. Big disappointment. But got to pay the price when I'm stupid.
Any one here needs one of these, can cut you a good deal
No clue what to do with it, ideas ?
(please don't say paperweight or doorstop, already thought of those)

AT&T h910 news/discussion

The other variants have all started a thread so I thought we needed one too just to bring the news into one spot. I know our bootloader is locked but there still seems to be some hope for something. So anything you know or wanna keep us AT&T users up to date with I would appreciate it. 7 days for root I have faith in the developers to maybe do something for us.
I sure hope the AT&T variant gets some love. With the Note getting pulled and AT&T's lack of comparable alternatives, I think the V20 will be the choice. This is my first LG and so far I like it, but it's also the first phone I've had with slim hope of being unlocked/rooted. I did notice you can get to actual recovery with ADB but no luck getting to bootloader, phone just restarts like normal.

Same. The guys are working on it in the sprint/att bootloader thread. That's what I'm watching.
Since I am chained to ATT if it cant be rooted I wont buy it. If it cant be rooted then its Pixel XL or Oneplus3t maybe. No chance on my only other choice the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 as it will probably never get released in the US.
I got the V20 (H910) because it was the closest thing AT&T had to the Note That I was giving up.
Waiting patiently for any news on a possible root solution.
Ive had a Note on At&t since the I717 and except for the missing spen and a few or the easy swipe features I say the V20 is a really nice phone kinda slow the wake up but Im used to it. Like most I would like to have root but not sure i need it since i was boot-loader locked out with the Note5

Anyone else had distortion from the speaker?
There are lots of people with this issue, myself included. I'm going to the AT&T store here shortly to get mine replaced since it will now not play any sort of recognizable audio at any volume as well as doing the random audio pops and crackles when no other audio is being played.
I came across this:

I can't get into the boot loader mode. I have powered off then pressed the volume down and power button simultaneously (as mentioned in the post) and it reboots. I then tried simultaneous the power and both volume up and down buttons and I got a screen reporting IMEI number. Then I connected the phone to the computer and tried "adb reboot bootloader" command. That led to a reboot of phone (as if I had entered "adb reboot"). So, I can't get my H-910 into bootloader mode. The command "adb devices" gives "LGH910*******4 unauthorized" (serial number & unauthoized) so I know that other adb commands work. Hmmmmm!
You have to hold down the "Home Key" too aka the fingerprint scanner.

Sprint galaxy note 5 us

Hi guys. Ive been a long time subscriber and lover of these forums never really posted though. I need some help at the moment however, without sounding like an absolute complete noob. Here is my scenario... Bought a note 5 from my friend which he said wasnt working, noticed that some idiot (above mentioned friend im sure) tried to root it without knowing what they were doing jence tripping the bootloader and knox. I started playing around, with sprint sim and also with metro pcs sim inserted. At one point i got to the iot menu and i took a strp back and had to stop. Now i have never seen this menu even though i have been programming and coding since high school. Also, i am an avid drinker amongst other things and sometimes i will get so into coding or research and be surrounded by computers and tablets and phones all firing on different levels that i. Am not as focused on one particular thing enough. Sell this was one of those moments and after a quick overlook of what the menu had to offer i realized i should back off for the time being until i was sure. I did not use any dialer or #* or anything like that. My best guess is that it was something i did during the restart. Ive seen the pic if the menu im talking about online but no way to get to it. Someone help me out please. Im all about anonymity also so if you would like to contact me anonymously i can you can reach me on the bleeding eye site [email protected] or email me or even text me thank you.
Shut it off, then hold volume down, home, and power button to let it boot into odin mode/download mode. It will tell what type of phone it is, and u can flash the right stock from sammobile. And be sure to select the nand erase all option once your sure you got the right vsrision of the phone. Thats how my phone came back to life through many things, and after its back up you can try rooting again. I rooted via odin and thats how i installed my twrp also
