Hi guys. Ive been a long time subscriber and lover of these forums never really posted though. I need some help at the moment however, without sounding like an absolute complete noob. Here is my scenario... Bought a note 5 from my friend which he said wasnt working, noticed that some idiot (above mentioned friend im sure) tried to root it without knowing what they were doing jence tripping the bootloader and knox. I started playing around, with sprint sim and also with metro pcs sim inserted. At one point i got to the iot menu and i took a strp back and had to stop. Now i have never seen this menu even though i have been programming and coding since high school. Also, i am an avid drinker amongst other things and sometimes i will get so into coding or research and be surrounded by computers and tablets and phones all firing on different levels that i. Am not as focused on one particular thing enough. Sell this was one of those moments and after a quick overlook of what the menu had to offer i realized i should back off for the time being until i was sure. I did not use any dialer or #* or anything like that. My best guess is that it was something i did during the restart. Ive seen the pic if the menu im talking about online but no way to get to it. Someone help me out please. Im all about anonymity also so if you would like to contact me anonymously i can you can reach me on the bleeding eye site [email protected] or email me or even text me thank you.
Shut it off, then hold volume down, home, and power button to let it boot into odin mode/download mode. It will tell what type of phone it is, and u can flash the right stock from sammobile. And be sure to select the nand erase all option once your sure you got the right vsrision of the phone. Thats how my phone came back to life through many things, and after its back up you can try rooting again. I rooted via odin and thats how i installed my twrp also

I wanted to see if I can post something without getting ridiculed. I know that I should probably just put up with the few crashes that are happening, cause its the greatest phone in the world, puts my previous iPhone3GS to absolute shame, and I LOVED that Phone, and turns out I like showstock too . I usually keep things /prefer stock all the way just rooted but I couldnt be and be at 2.3.6. I want to get some clarification on couplethings.
I am on my second ATT SGS2. First one had a GPS issue. Tried everything and finally convinced ATT warranty that the problem was hardware. They said they would advance replace the handset. So I got it back to stock in every way except the flash counter, this was in December so long before I was aware of mobile odin. Flash counter was at about 12 when I was done trying different ROMs,mostly just try to get the GPS to work. Has anyone ever heard of someone getting charged on a return phone that had a flash counter above stock? Ill update, I seriously doubt I have anything to worry about but, just wondered.
My real question, does everyones SGH-I777 crash on occasion? If so how often? I so happy with the current code that is running on the phone with the exception that it sometimes sleeps and wont wake up, and sometimes it just plain crashes hard, locks up and has to be hard rebooted. Usually this happens about 1 time a day each the lockup and the forever sleep. I wiped before installing current rom and any before that. The only reason I am not stock is cause I wanted the CKK6, 2.3.6 update to work and to keep root privaledges, but also needed my wifi cause ATT is throttling me down to dial up speeds when I reach 2GB. So wrong. Anyway thats another thread.
Anyway I loaded shostock with siyah kernel 2.6.35.14. after wiped everything including both caches. The GPS is solid now, phone is fast, battery is egh, I keep a charger with me... but it crashes hard from one to three times a day. Locks up playing tunes, or wont wake up with out being plugged in or rebooted by holding down the power button, screen blank whole time. Do I have another defective handset or should I just go back to 2.3.4 and UKH7 or should I just deal with the crashes and should get my ass chewn out for the next 10 posts for banned or asking an absolutely ridiculous, moronic, long winded question?
Thanks for the hours of fun all you code writing types.
Oops I knew I was gonna screw it up and get hazed!!!
I knew Id screw it up. I was so nervous about posting on this site.. lol. I meant to post this in the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Q & A forum and it ended up in this one some how. It does not appear that I can move it to where it should be, so maybe someone will have an answer here, or maybe I will get my head torn off, or maybe one of the nice moderators can move it for me.... Thanks in advance.
Hi all, it's been a while since I have posted here, but I am in need of some help. I am not an experienced rooter (if that is a word), but I dabble in what I can, and do a lot of research on the subject, and this forum has helped me over the years to achieve my goals, however, I think I may have gotten in a little over my head here.
Here's the situation, my mother in law has an HTC Evo 3D that she received as an upgrade sometime last year on the Sprint network (US), but is now is not activated and just sits in her desk until it can be used again. I was trying to help her to find a cheaper phone company that would allow her to keep her phone without paying an arm and a leg to use it. I told her I would do what I could, but I couldn't guarantee anything. I recently found a post on here that had instructions on how to flash the Evo 3D to the Onessa Boosted (Boost Mobile) Essentials ROM, and I thought it was going to be an easy fix.
Long story short, I rooted the phone, flashed it with the ROM and I ended up with a constant boot loop. I tried to go back to stock, but couldn’t because my dumba$$ forgot to back up the stock rom in the recovery menu and I only ended up unrooting the phone, now I don't know what to do. Now when I boot the phone, it keeps taking me back to the fastboot menu, and it won’t let me use any of the functions in there. I just hope I didn't brick the phone. I don't want to come back to her empty handed, but I feel if I cannot receive any help here, I may have to. Any help that you can provide would be extremely useful at this point.

First allow me to say sorry for posting this here, mod please move to an appropriate area its almost 6am here, and ive been screwing around trying to get this cell back up.
Initially I have cyanogenmod but it had no access to play store so I got rid of it, then yesterday I did the s4-s5 tweak on youtube which made the phone run like ****.
Finally I tried running a ROM much simpler, however the phone dead and it got stuck with the blue android pirate with the bolt on his stomach.
Now I can use power vol +/_ etc to enter recovery but nothing does anything in terms of taking effect after I choose an option and execute it.
Samsung on screen as well
From what I gather this is a "soft brick"
Seriously I need my cell for work like many of us , and any SOLID links and help would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
Thank you so much, and I look forward to increasing by tech geekiness with everyone

I have an LG G2 D800, with stock everything; I did something either interesting or dumb, and now it won't boot. I never rooted it because all the instructions were for Windows, and I use Linux, and never found anything that explained how to do it with Linux, if possible. But I now have a a usable Windows (Vista) installed in a VM, so maybe I can do something.
Here's what happened; I hope someone can help steer me in the right direction...
I finished my AT&T contract, and decided to move to Project Fi. I got a Nexus 5X, and got an unlock code for my G2, which I wanted to give to my wife's brother in China. So, I needed to get a non-AT&T sim to enter the unlock code. Here's where I went wrong. I was curious about what would happen if I used the Project Fi sim, and since I wasn't rooted, I didn't think it would do anything bad (silly me!). Well, it did. It crashed, so I removed the sim and turned off the phone. Now, it won't boot. It sometimes just shuts down immediately, sometimes after the LG logo, sometimes after the AT&T logo, and a few times, it made it all the way to the login screen before turning off. Never further than that.
I did a factory reset, tried starting in safe mode many times, and sometimes it gets to a screen saying it's updating Android, but has never made it past 20 files before turning off. By the way, if it was reset, how could it update Android - wouldn't the WiFi need to be set up?
So, I'm wondering what might be wrong, and what might fix it. Obviously, I'm willing to try anything at this point, as it can't get much worse. The phone is in perfect shape, and would make a nice gift (or sellable item), so I hate to lose it.
I'm pretty technically inclined, but I don't know much about phone tech. I know Linux pretty well though, so I can follow directions without too much babying. Or, just point me the right direction.
It did go into download mode, but right now, it seems like it doesn't want to do that.
Thanks to anyone that can help.

Greetings.
Thank you for using XDA Assist. I'm going to move this thread to the specific device Q and A forum. You should find expert help there. Good luck!
I've searched this forum and Google/Bing for answers and none found, works for me. First things first, this is my phone. It has not been used for a year, I got an S7 to replace it. Now, I unwittingly Factory Reset it via Recovery Mode to prep it for my mother in law. Upon the google sign in, I used what I KNOW is the correct account and it will not go through. I've reset the PW to try to make headway and I'm confident that this action made it worse.
I've tried RealTerm method but it wouldn't dial out even though all indicators suggested it would. It may be an issue with the SIM. Phone is on a data plan but I never used it (yes, I wasted money for the extra line, I meant to get it ready for Mother in Law sooner but I procrastinated...for a year). I tried the SIM from my phone but that didn't work, it timed out connecting to network and SIM locked.
I've tried SideSync method but the app would not connect to phone via USB. Still not sure why but I'm assuming because I didn't set it up on phone first
I've tried Samsung Tool but that wouldn't dial out either
I started to try rooting it but the phone is not set up for Unknown Software...I'm not sure if there's a work around for this
I'm pretty annoyed at myself mostly, for not soft resetting it and avoiding this nightmare all together. I'm hoping that one of you whom are much more talented than myself with phones can assist (I'm pretty worthless at it). I don't know how to set you at ease that this is indeed my phone and nothing insidious is going on but I'm hoping you'll take my word for it and help if at all possible.
My last resort which will annoy me greatly is to spend money on shipping this to Samsung for them to fix. If there's a way, I'd rather do it.
I've tried most methods one can find on google so it will probably take a step or two more than the usual. I don't care if I trip the warranty void mechanism...I just want to get it running and in the hands of my mother in law and make her happy

Thanks for the reply! I when I tried rooting with Odin, I received an error referencing the FRP lock. It' looks like I'm not able to root until I bypass that step...
