can't go to recovery mode after installing Stock ICS

Hi.
As stated in topic! Went stock RUU, but now I cant get in recovery mode to install a ROM from .zip file!
Help!
HBOOT: 1.23
Have tried the firmware flash - no luck!
Any clues?

you are un-rooted with a stock ruu rom, you hav to install recovery + root again.

I'm S-off.
How do i install the recovery again? is it the EXT4 recovery?

Go to settings-power and un check fastboot

Also until we get APM ,od which helps get to recovery I found installing ROM Manager from th emarket also has the boot to recovery option.

Iv'e seen several thread about the same problem latly, so search and you will find a answer.

[Q] Yet another ISC update question

Hi,
I have successfully rooted my phone 2-3 months ago using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 and all worked fine.
However I haven't flashed any custom roms or anything on it.
Now I want to upgrade to ICS. However I need to flash stock recovery, right?
I can only find stock recovery for 1.45.401.3 and I'm on 1.50.401.
Do I need stock recovery for 1.50.401 or can I just use the one for 1.45.401.3?
(I have tried to post in "ICS is now available (in Nordic countries)" without ant real luck.)

You're better off just going with a custom ROM based on the ICS build if you can't follow my simple guide in the General forum
What you don't mention is whether you have an original Sensation or the XE. If you're rooted then the OTA won't work.
YOU HAVE TO BE 100% STOCK (except for S-OFF) TO FLASH THE OTA MANUALLY
I can't be it more simple than that

Talking about simple. Isn't my question quite simple?
Anyway, I have an original Sensation (not XE).
The only thing on my phone that isn't stock is the recovery.
And I want to install the OTA over air, not with a file/rom dl from xda. The OTA update is pushed to me directly.

Then you need to get the stock recovery from the 1.73.401.4 RUU

Yes, thats what I thought.
How come I need 1.73.401.4 and not the recovery from 1.50.401, since my current version is 1.50.401?

Sorry, thought you said you HAD an XE. You need it from 1.50 in that case

If yours is the original Sensation the stock RUU is the 1.50.401.1

Yup.
You can download the entire RUU 383 mb. However do you know any link for the recovery file only?
Takes about 6 hours to download from filefactory if your don't have Premium account.

What I want
I want to upgrade using the OTA ICS upgrade I just received on my phone.
But, it does not work. Starting the installation, the phone reboot then stay stuck on a picture with warning sign !
I want to upgrade from the OTA file as I don't want to re-install and configure all the phone again !
How-to ??
Shall I try to un-root and uninstall CWM ? How?
Or, simply install the received OTA upgrade file from CWM option update from SD file ?
Or, something different ? Which steps to follow
Or, the only solution is to reinstall full stock rom ?? worst case !
Situation:
unbranded Sensation XE
stock rom 2.3.4, Sense 3.0. Software version 1.73.401.4
Revolutionary S-Off, Root and CWM using XDA tutorial http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/1192300/
Accessing the boot (Switch On button + volume down), this brings the following:
-Revolutionary
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.17.1111
Radio-10.14.9035.02-2
eMM-boot
The phone has been rooted and I installed ClockWorkMod CWM 5.0.0.8
The OTA file I received is OTA_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105_R-1.73.401.4_release251962...zip

Unroot using the Gingerbread RUU. Then flash the original HBOOT through ADB. At this point, on your phone, check for updates or install the ICS RUU. If that doesn't work , extract the ROM.zip from the RUU.

thanks for the fast and straight answer...
Correct my if I'm wrong, but applying the Gingerbread RUU will reinstall the complete ROM.
Doing this, the telephone will be completely refreshed. All config/apps/data will be gone isn't it ?
This was precisely what I was trying to avoid.
If there is no other solution, then that's life. Cryinggggg....

However I'd like to revert back to a Gingerbread ROM. Preferably a custom one.
Just wondering if 4EXT is capable of flashing any ROM or is it only compatible with the newer ROMS like ICS etc?
Could somebody also recommend a good Gingerbread ROM if possible?

Using Jelly Bean here so no knowledge on the latest GB ROMs.
The issue is to get compatible Firmware for the chosen ROM.
I'm a CWM user but understand that EXT4 can do all that's needed.
So What is your Radio/HBOOT version ??

Hi,
4EXT should be fine to install GB ROMS.
You will firstly need to downgrade your firmware.
1.17 is HERE
ARHD GB 3.6.13 is HERE

It's not working. As soon as I enter the bootloader with these two files on my SD card I get the
error message "Incorrect ID - Update Failed" before I even attempt to do anything. It won't even let me enter the recovery unless I remove them.
I'm on Juopunutbear 1.27 currently. Do I have to downgrade the bootloader as well? And if so how? I'm a bit stuck.

Use the 1.17 universal firmware.. From kohr-ah firmware thread.. It's in sensation development section

the installation failed (red mark exclamation)
i am using stock firmware s-off and unlocked bootloader(stock recovery)

Pls check whether you have root access...if yes then your ota will fail...pls unroot and then try...I assume that you have all stock...

you have a wrong stock recovery..go get the same as the stock firmware you have..
yes relock your bootloader and try..

how to check wether i used a right recovery or not
before i am successfully from OTA update to 4.2.2 i didnt change anything afterward

hmm..well what i usually do is extract the OTA update to my PC and save them incase something like this happens..every OTA has a firmware update together with it with HBOOT and radio firmware recovery and more stuff with it..what 4.2.2 version are you on??also your CID??

how do you extract the OTA to pc?
my version is 4.2.2 (2.28.709.3)
my htc is from singapore,
before i flash taiwan x920d stock firmware to obtain 4.2.2 via OTA
in order to install taiwan stock firmware i have to s-off supercid

are you S-ON or S-OFF?? you wont be able to use that OTA since you have a different CID for Singapore i think its HTC _044 and this firmware is for HTC _0621 CID..better S-OFF and superCID..

mine is S-OFF and supercid
but i am using OTA to 4.2.2 but failed to 4.3 (using HTC_0621) firmware
i am using htc_0621 firmware because its faster on update
any solution?

its better if you just flash it via CWM..rather than updating manually..i think you have to revert back to the CID of your phone yet to the 4.2.2 firmware that you use..which is HTC 621 CID..

i think i just use stock firmware but i wanna use newest firmware
thats why i use stock firmware (taiwan version) to get newest firmware via OTA

there is over the android dev thread..a 4.3 OTA zip file thats flashable..also available is the hboot for the OTA..

So i just need to download 4.3 OTA firmware and flash it via clockworkmod or stock recovery
Do i need RUU?

I already successfully install the rom you shared via twrp
Now no update notification come out
It said uptodate
The rom no playstore included

i have downloaded the update from xda, but in hboot mode it wont install, it just say "press power button to restart", and nothing else
still did not receive any OTA update (920d) maybe it is possible to flash it through stock recovery? (my phone is fully stock, bootloader locked)
but i dont know how. anyone can help me?

Ota is flashed in stock recovery and firmwares are flashed in boot loader
