[Q] GPU overclocking TF101 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys! I saw in Rayman's thread about his kernel "harmony" that it have an GPU Overclock, so i have a question: is he means that the kernel have ability to overclock gpu or it already have increased frequency of gpu. Thanks for attention!

Harmony comes with a GPU overclock.

So, have we ability to overclock it ourselves?

No, at least i haven't found a way to do so. You wouldn't want to anyway imo, the overclock will be as high as it can go without loosing stability

Thanks man!

CPU Overclocking

Hey people today I flash UC Kernel V08 NOC to my phone DDKP2 2.3.6 but I was not able to see improvement in video recording. I saw in the comments that Chaos and team has fixed only V08 Overclocked version. So i was thinkin why not overclock my phone and then flash OC version.
My question is I have installed NO FRILLS CPU Control.. I Wanted to know what setting should i keep on it and then should I flash V08 OC version! Thanks

@Dude, Yes you can flash OC version over NOC version - but i believe that currently NOC version is more stable than OC ; However OC will definitely give an inch over NOC in performance.
but in the uc kernel thread I saw that fix has been done for OC version whereas for NONOC version there is not fix....

buddy first flash OC v08 version & then do that settings. Its so simple...
hi vishal is overclocking harmful to d phone?
also tell me can i get back ti original stock kernel by just flashing stock firmware:xxkpe-->xxkpq.?

yes and yes
Agreed.. and Iam Still thinking why do we need 1.2 OC???? anyone?!?!?!
Well, after installing Sch ROM, ICS Theme, and UC-Kernel v8 with OC everything is running super smooth. I'm able to play Dungeon Defenders on highest graphics quality (which is in fact native screen resolution), although my quadrant benchmark has dropped from 2600/2800 to 1500.
Why not? Of course it would be better to have some more frequencys to choose from and i would like to also have additional 1000 MHz as a frequency the CPU is clocked maximum in standard situations and only manually "overclock" to 1.2 GHz in example for gaming.
1.2 ОС-is the speed!
to fasten our phone! althoug I have overcloked but not able to see any major overhaul!

have you enabled a cpu managing app like Nofrills CPU control?
you wont really recognize the improvement in daily usage, try out a HD game like asphalt, you WILL fell the difference, (in performance as in battery drain^^)

Setcpu to OC Atrix 2 ?

Will using Setcpu allow me to overclock the cpu on rooted stock 4.0.4 or does the stock kernel not allow it?
Use the oc method from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648421
@Mtn - While not wanting to deviate from the OP, correct me if I am wrong but OP mentions stock 4.0.4 whereas your link points to ScV7 based on ics leak for the OC method. So will it work?
Also would appreciate if you could advise which one is better, SetCPU, AnTuTu CPU Master, Android Overclock (J Rummy). My primary question is after ICS OTA the Cpu has automatically scaled up to 1200 so what will be the safest OC value therefore without destabilizing the system?

Those overclock modules will work on any ics version for the A2. Rdavict's flashable zip is the easiest method. Personally i use nofrills cpu and as far as oc values that differs from chip to chip. My first A2 would do almost 1.4 while my new one gets flaky after 1.3
Go here and at the bottom of the first post download the tweakerz alpha app.with it you can adjust clock speed and voltage quickly but it wont stick through a reboot. So if you set a bad oc you wont be sol

[A700] [KERNEL] iconiaN - OC-UV

First as always, I am not responsible for any damages caused by using any files I release.
ok, right down to the point of this post.
I built kernel with the help of faux123 with OC/UV & GPU OC and have been asked to release it, so here it is:
Downloads:
iconiaN Kernel for A700 Final version
Currently it only clocks to 1.5GHz (Used SetCPU) more work is still to be done
GPU is OC'd to 520MHz
I welcome feedback and suggestions :fingers-crossed:
Please do NOT package these kernels with a custom ROM, instead point your users to this thread
Massive thanks to faux123 for complying with GPL, as I borrowed the GPU OC & UV from his kernel sources.
GPL States I should provide full source, so here it is: on GitHub
Wow. That's definitely a must have! I hope this will change the experience and launches apps faster.
Aren't the CPU and the GPU put together in one socket?
Will this kernel be packaged in iconiaN 2.2 by any chance?
I wondered why you wrote that the GPU is clocked at 1.5 Ghz. That`s a little bit too high in comparison with the mali 400 and other mobile GPU. Now I looked at your github and I see 520 MHz. A really nice Overclock too. Maybe you have clocked the CPU to 1.5 GHz?
I will test the kernel in a few minutes. Big THX for this
I was tired.
Was thinking CPU lol.
Yes it is a 520MHz sorry
I've not done the cpu oc yet though.

Hmmm I`ve downloaded the ZIP file 2 times now from your github and when I try to install it I got "Installation aborted". No detailled error-message :-/.
Ill check it when home

Vorbeth,
I downloaded and installed this last night. It was stable, but seemed to lag a bit. I think the OC of the GPU helps less than an OC of the CPU. Running the modified kernel OC'd at 1.4 seems to have a greater impact than OC'ing the GPU... it really seems like 1.3 GHz is not fast enough to support the higher clock speed on the GPU...???
Obviously, getting the both ramped up would seem to be the best scenario.
Your work on all of this for the A700 is very much appreciated!

This kernel does have the 1.4GHz cpu speed.
I'm going to see if I can push it a bit more.
Aiming for 1.6GHz CPU & 600MHz GPU.

Yes Sir! If 600 GPU aren`t stable, I think we can life with 500 too, when the CPU runs fine at 1,6 Ghz.
I`ve tested Wild blood(gameloft game with the Unreal engine 3, that works after I edited the build.prob) with your default kernel, and I think it was around 20 fps so I definitively need more horse-power
Sorry for the Double post, but I have downloaded your new kernel from google docs, and I`ve got no error during the CWM installation. So nothing to worry about Sir

What is the original GPU speed of the A700?
It seems that wiki thinks it's already 520MHz:

If you look here https://github.com/iconiaN/android_kernel_acer_a700/commit/b2e3176ae3bd68d38835e776443cb84f82272b7e
You will see that it was 416MHz, the same as the nexus 7 and One X
Thank you for your reply. Seems like iiki doesn't have the correct information, since the One X is also listed there where the GPU says 520MHz.

This will be fixed at the weekend, with my current work hours I currently don't have time to compile the kernel and get it uploaded
Thanks Vorbeth - when you do get around to it, is it possible to post a link to a flashable kernel version that we can use with the CM10 nightlies?
This has been out a while now (and I've not had time to try it myself), but has anyone out there been using this this past while? Thoughts? Anyone? Bueller?

Overclocking

Hello, i have a quick question
I have installed CleanROM 3.2.1 odexed, and Unters stock Tf300t OC Kernel. I would like to ask how do you guys feel about overclocking your tab? I have installed SetCPU and limited overclocking to 1,5 ghz in performance mode, do you think i could do any damage to the cpu?
I don't think that kernel has overclocking. But I usually do it. Just don't constantly have it set to the Max CPU or it will shorten the CPU life by a lot.

I have mine overclocked up to 1.8 with Clemsyn's and it also turns the GPU up to 650. I personally love the overclock. It goes good with me running Hydro 6.0 with the cranked GPU, I think it's really only good if you have the GPU power to back it up as well. If you want to overclock it higher, check out Clemsyns!

If his CPU is at 1.5 then it's overclocked, stock runs at 1.3
I think that up to 1,6GHz is harmless

I will try Clemsyns kernel now, but what is the stock frequency of the GPU?
Thank you for the replies, i also thought that overclocking to 1.6ghz will do no harm.
Edit: for some reason i can not boot with Clemsyns 1,6 ghz kernel. I used the kernel installer provided by the OP in the cleanrom thread. Any suggestions?

I honestly can't find the stock frequency of the GPU anywhere, but I know its lower than 500!
Also, don't use the kernel installer in the OP of the CleanRom thread. Go into Clemsyn's thread and download the kernel you want to use.

I say over clocking is doable until 1.6ghz. After that, I don't think it'll be great for the CPU

Mine is at 1.8 and it runs perfectly fine, no issues at all. Got any reasoning to think that it's not good for the CPU?
+1 for overclocking. I'm running the modified Unter kernel for the PA ROM and usually keep mine set at 1.6. Everything just seems to run so much smoother with it turned up.

Overclocking?

Hello,
the chances are big i am gonna buy this tablet tomorrow but one thing i want to know: what is the highest overclock of this tablet?
or isn't it overclockable?
also: wich app do you reccomend for overclocking (yes, i know you need a kernel that suports OC'ing)
thanks,

The highest reached is 2.0 GHz, but it was quite unstable. 99% of all tablets can easily run 2 cores at 1.85 GHz and the other two at 1.8 GHz. The only OC kernel here is Hundsbuah's and he has his own app to change the clocking, but TricksterMod and Android Tuner are very helpful when it comes to the governor and the voltages.
