Hi, im trying to get rooted my SL I9003 referring to many useful guides i found on this forum; first of all, thanks a lot for that
But watch this thread! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647 ....all mirrors are dead and from mediafire u cant really download (eg i failed 1 dl, i have to wait 30 mins ;S)....also would like to know which is the difference between all those many versions and if there is a more upgraded one or one which fits best for my sl I9003 (firmware: 2.3.6, non-rooted)
Ty for the patience :good:
P.s: also, when i manage to download this file I9003XXKPH_I9003XXKPH_I9003SERKPH.zip from here http://hotfile.com/dl/145784146/61cb31c/I9003XXKPH_I9003XXKPH_I9003SERKPH.zip.html ...how am i supposed to make odin read the uncompressed content?? it is like normalboot.img...Odin requires .tar, md5 or smd for PDA field! :S D:
P.p.s: i guees that normalboot.img was a weird download error....now i have the right file....but checking some guides like kkrraazzyy ones i discovered i need to also select a file for the PIT field...and later, also a modem one and CSC.....ok, while i was writing i also saw this: "IF there is only a file of the f.w i.e. pda file then do NOT use a pit file for flashing just select the pda and flash it " cit. kkrraazzyy. So i said **** this i go flash this....lets hope ;D

Yep, you'll lose data.
ok..
I have wiped all datas and the phone booted, ty....but now i see i only have an older version of the firmware 2.3.4 and XXKPH but no root acces...so how can i flash my phone in order to have root access?
Yo guys, again a problem....i have finally flashed my phone to XXLE4....i flashed it twice in order to get it rooted aftet with vf root, so i downloaded the rooting file from here http://www.mediafire.com/?07jdblow193h1jw i guess i chose the right version (it is for XXLE4)...so after geetting xle4, i flashed that file for rooting and now phone keeps on rebooting randomly after very few seconds it is booted....wtf
.-.
Ok the issue is kind of solved....im now sure that is the cf-root file which leads the phone to keep on rebooting...now i flashed again the XXLE4 and everything is cool....ill try out rooting with superoneclick....still if u have have suggestion it is welcomed of course cheers:fingers-crossed:
bad news
Ok with SuperOneClick i cant update it.....these are the last strings where the error is:

look, if your firmware has only 1 file.. then no need..
but then, you'll have to first flash a firmware which has 4 firmware files... for doing that flash pit file and then the firmware files..
then to flash the rom with only 1 firmware file, in PDA select that one file and flash..
huh?

Samsung Mesmerize; SCH-i500; Rooted stock 2.3.4 Gingerbread with Busybox!
I really don't know how I got to this point, I've flashed w/ Odin so many times now, that I have no idea if the above is still where I'm at but here goes the problem:
I turn on my phone and it doesn't even show the Samsung logo, just goes directly to the Samsung Recovery Utils with #MANUAL MODE# displayed at the bottom of the screen.
"reboot system now"
again, reboots into the same recovery mode (Samsung...)
"apply sdcard:update.zip"(after returning to the main screen):

(Invalid arguement)

"wipe cache partition": works fine though
I know this has been asked before but I haven't found any other posts about the Samsung Mesmerize SCH i500 & I'm not sure if this is model specific & don't really want to take my chances, sorry.
Ok, update: I just used Odin to reflash to rooted 2.3.4 & it still goes to recovery mode (Samsung) & all the options are the same (w/ the same results) as above, I can't get my sdcard to show on my computer to manually apply the update, unless there is a way I don't know of, the only way I know requires me to be on the phone's Main Menu & use the notification drop-down menu to activate transfer mode on my computer, what am I missing?
Now I used Odin again, this time to put ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.1.0 on it & now it booted up in CwM Recovery mode but I still get the same error when trying to apply the update (see above)
Trying to "- mount USB storage":
E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
I just want to format the whole thing, phone & sdcard, & start over from scratch as though I had just bought the phone.
Ok, for future reference, if anyone has a problem like this, unless you find another solution, this is what I did:
I downloaded a rooted stock 2.2 Froyo, ran Odin & just put the SCH-I500_USCC_EA11_REL_ROOT.tar.md5 in the PDA part & flashed it, it went to the recovery screen again at boot up but, after selecting Reboot it went right to the phone splash screen, so, I guess I'm back in business but I haven't tested anything yet, I'll update this post to keep you all in the loop, wish me luck.
It would seem that I can get wifi but I don't have a carrier or 3G, as far as I can tell, its become no more than an iPod Tough (just having wifi access) I can, however, now access the sdcard, when I plug the USB cablein it asks if I want Samsung Kies or Mass storage.
I don't know
Download and unzip the linked file. Place the tar file in the PDA slot and the pit file in the PIT slot. Make sure repartition is checked and the flash. This should get the phone booting again.
http://db.tt/fOG2Lf6
Once this is done download and unzip the linked file. Do the exact same thing. Place the tar file in PDA and the pit file in PIT. Make sure repartition is NOT checked and flash. This should have you booting into EH09 without issue.

Worked great, thank u very much, started off w/ the signal bars at full but wouldn't make any outgoing calls or send any messages but I could receive messages (text), every time I tried to make a call it kept giving me a recording, something about "To make a collect call please enter the are code and phone number of the person you are trying to call...." so I type the number & it responds w/ something "....the number you are trying to call cannot be billed..." "...to make a phone call w/ a pre-paid card or a credit card..." so I just entered the US Cellular activation # & I was back in business!
ok so after this!
After i do this (Hopefully it works) then could i use ODIN to flash the pre rooted 2.3 rom? or not?
Once done with those instructions you will be on EH09. Odin a recovery and flash the below linked file. It will root it for you.

Sorry, I was going crazy (I think everyone here can understud this ). You have also to unpack the tar.md5, so you have only the kernel.bin.md5 to flash. My god I _love_ my brain. Sorry for spamming (but maybe this threat is now also a tutorial for flashing the ace 2 with heimdall-frontend. Omg, what for a mistake. It works! Im so happy, sorry again.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
I have tried to root my Ace 2 with Heimdall like thise person: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28558846&highlight=heimdall#post28558846
I can't write to these section because I haven't ten posts.
The problem is that my phone boot up to the screen which says: Samsung GALAXY ACE 2 GT-I8160, but not going on to the Samsung screen followed by the pin insert screen... (nothing happend after waiting 20min...)
I really hope anyone can help me with this problem...
Thank you at first for this :good:
So what exectly have I done?
First I have downloaded the PIT file of my phone with the heimdall-frontend (unter Utillities first Detect than with the "Save As..." dialog and the download button (this file has 4,1 kB under ext4/linux))
Now I have put this file into the PIT field under "Flash" and selected under "Partition Name" the entry "Kernel" (which has the Partition ID 6).
Then I have selected under File the tar.md5 from the I8160XXLD8_ready_to_root_ANT.tar.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27610432&postcount=31) and clicked on "Start" (Repartiton and No Reboot wasn't checked)
The download was no problem (the counter for the flash on the download mode screen is now incremented)
But as I written at the start of the post: It dosn't boot...
I have tried to flash the I8160XXLD8_original.tar.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27610432&postcount=31), but nothing happend (exeped that the flash counter incremented one again...)
I have no idea what is to do now...
Maybe anyone has a idea.
Thanks for reading this

You may have Soft bricked your phone. This happens many times for first time rooters.
You will have to unbrick it and you will find the method if you search for it on the site.
Same situation, please explain me ho to root with heimdall
4) Flash I8160XXLD8_ready_to_root_ANT.tar.md5 using Odin as PDA part.
File patch is kernel.bin.md5
In pit i have kernel & kernel 2
Is correct flash --Kernel?
If no solution i have to find a copy of windows or take tha one to another person
OK Solved, you have to unzip .md5 first..
Hi All
I have searched and searched but can not find a 32GB PIT file for my GT-P5100 (obviously 32GB version).
I need this since I was stupid enough to use a 16GB version while flashing (I know, was pretty stupid hey?)
The tab works 100% with 4.1 JB, just minus 16GB worth of storage!
Can ANYONE please let me know where to find a 32GB version partition file? (the Sammobile site only has 8GB and 16GB)
- OR can I use another type Samsung Tab PIT file?
Thanks for ANY help...
EDIT: This is solved, read on to see some epic assistance!
Hi. Did you use a PIT file when you flashed the ROM? If not, then I think you don't need one to put back your original partitioning neither - just try to flash back the original ROM (if you made a backup), or a ROM from the Development section which is exactly for the P5100 32GB. At least that's what I would try, as using PIT file is very risky, especially from a different device model.
What ROM did you flash btw? If it's a custom ROM, you could also ask the developper for a solution.
UNless you actually flashed a PIT file or checked off the repartition flag in oDIN then nothing should have affected your storage layout.

Thanks for the help, I however did use the PIT file (still not sure why I did!) I also went back to the original ROM to see if somehow this would help. The Tab works without any issues, just partitioned to 16GB
I flashed with official rom, XXCLI5
oh, then I think you're right, using the original PIT file would be the best option... (unless there are system commands that allow repartitioning, but I couldn't find anything).
here you find some explanations about the PIT files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999097
then you might want to check this post, it gives a lead for a solution (even two - someone with unmodified partitions extracts for you the original pit file of the tablet, OR use this PIT file editor ):

Hi
I have a pit file for you because I have the same problem. To make a long story short I retrieved it from a working 32GB p5100. I varified the PIT file by using PIT Magic to compare it to the 16GB version. Unfortunately for some reason I cannot get odin to partition my P5100 with this PIT file. I assure you it is the correct file. See if you can use ODIN to install this file. If you are unsure if it is the correct file download pit magic PIT_Magic_v1.3.10_Release to varify.
Pit file attached !!!!!! Used txt to upload. rename type to pit
See if you have any luck repartitioning your internal SD. I think that if we can find the correct stock rom the re-partitioning will be possible.
If you can get this pit file to do what it is supposed to let me know. In the meantime at least we have the correct PIT file.
Regards

Thanks guys, will try this PIT and keep you posted...

Also looked at the PIT file in PIT Magic, as you mentioned it does look ok. (LOOKS ok, I also compared this with the 8gb and 16 gb versions)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999097
then you might want to check this post, it gives a lead for a solution (even two - someone with unmodified partitions extracts for you the original pit file of the tablet, OR use this PIT file editor ):

This PIT file really works!!! A great thanks to author. But, for it became work you need modify it. First, you need to change file ext from .txt to .pit. Next, open this file by any hex-editor (i used HxD editor for this purposes) and remove all zeros in the end of file (C6 D6 48 F6 must be last bytes in the file). Save file and answer YES in change file size dialog. Now size of file should be 2132 bytes. Now You can use this file by ODIN with repartition option checked. After programming You must to boot into recovery mode (power on with volume down buttons) made swipe\factory and swipe\cache. Now space goes back.
I tested this half our ago on my P5100 which I was programmed with 16GB pit.
regards
Just wandering : what append if you would use PIT from 32Gb instead of 16 on a 16Gb tab?

Here is the working pit file zipped after the input from the "RUSSIAN WIZZARD"
USE ODIN 3V1.7
STEPS
UNZIP ATTACHED ZIP P5100_32GB modded.zip
LAUNCH ODIN
SELECT PIT, SELECT REPARTITION, SELECT ROM OF YOUR CHOICE.
DESELECT REBOOT
UNPLUG AND REBOOT MANUALLY AFTER ROM COMPLETION BY HOLDING IN POWER AND VOLUME DOWN INTO RECOVERY MODE
DO FACTORY RESET
YOUR P5100 SHOULD NOW BE A 32GB TAB AGAIN.
ALL THE BEST

Hey guys. Aorth has released a new CWM build, and so it looks like its time for more repack action...
The original thread / post where the Heimdall versions are posted is HERE.
What Is This?
This is the new 6.0.2.7 version of CWM as built by Aorth. This release differs from Aorth's only in the way it is "packed". Aorth releases raw IMG files which are suitable for use with Heimdall. These files have been repacked to work with Odin. Aorth (justifiably) is against the use of Odin because its a closed-source utility that was never meant for public use. However, some people (like me) have issues making it work correctly and prefer to use Odin to flash. This release lets you do that.
News
I haven't found a lotta info about what's new in this release, aside from "the latest support for Android 4.1+"
I know that some of the storage and mountpoint stuff has been changing around a bit, so if you're gonna be using CM10+ ROMs, you'll want this recovery.
I changed my packaging slightly from last time. I am now packing the files inside of ZIP files. This allows me to name each released file properly without breaking the MD5 checksum, which should allow you to flash without issues. On my previous release(s) I renamed the file to be flashed, which causes an "invalid MD5" error.
How To Use?
I don't plan on doing a lot of handholding n00b-helpery in this thread. If you're flashing a custom recovery you should generally know WTF you're doing.
-Unzip the recovery for your device. You should get a recovery.tar.md5 file. DO NOT rename this.
-Put your tab into download or Odin mode.
-Hook it up to your computer via USB
-Launch Odin3 Version 1.85 (linked in this thread in case you lost yours )
-If Odin can 'see' your tab you should have a yellow box that says something like 0:[COM16]. If you don't have this, check USB and/or make sure you're really in download mode.
-Click the "PDA" button and then select the recovery.tar.md5 file.
-Click Start.
-Profit.
Standard XDA Disclaimer
I only own a T869 and I didn't build the original CWM or do any development. I have fully documented my involvement and "what I did", and just like with Aorth's direct releases, there's no warranty that comes with this software. If you brick your stuff its not my fault, nor is you losing your mind, job, love life, or faith in our Android savior as a result of using any of these files.

As with my previous threads, I used an Ubuntu Server 12.10 system to do the "repack". For the interested, you can "convert" a Heimdall img into an Odin md5.tar package with the following terminal commands:
Code:
mv t869_clockworkmod_6.0.1.2.img recovery.img
tar -H ustar -c recovery.img > recovery.tar
md5sum -t recovery.tar >> recovery.tar
mv recovery.tar recovery.tar.md5
zip recovery.tar.md5 t869_clockworkmod_6.0.1.2.zip
rm recovery.tar.md5
rm recovery.img

Would there be any chances that i would brick my tab if i do this? Im using stock ICS.. rooted.. 5+ CWM.. (i dont really remember)
Thank you very much!

Not really, provided you know how to re-stock via Odin.
All this does is over-write the recovery partition on your device, so worst case is you mess up your recovery and can't get into it anymore until you fix it via re-stock. Obviously you'd only want to do this kind of thing withOUT a relatively full battery charge.

Some other people in this thread seem to have successfully used the p6200 version without issue, which would imply that your download is corrupt. You could re-download, or you could give the Heimdall version a try.

The "ROM" or OS portion of your tablet is seperate from your "recovery" partition, which is where CWM lives. You can (and probably should) be using this instead of the "stock" recovery, since the stock recovery has been known to cause bricked devices during formatting.
can i flash the cwm by mobile Odin?
and does mobile Odin need root to do that?

Hi guys
I wonder could anyone help me. I'm trying to flash a stock ROM on my s6 with ODIN. It goes so far and then fails on hidden.img I've researched it and the solution found here seems to have worked for most people. My problem is i cant get Odin to recognise the hidden.img.tar file - it just cant see it. I've tried all sorts of ways and i rename it as described and odin just wont recognise it in the right format. Please can someone help me? Just for the record what i do is:
The main image file i open with winrar. I get 8 files. i select the hidden.img file and extract and rename it as per the article. Odin i then select ap and point it at the location and it just wont find it. Odin 3.10.7 and windows 7 and windows 10
