[Tool][AROMA] G2x AIO wipe tool [20 Nov] - T-Mobile LG G2x

Introducing the new G2x All in One tool!
This is a "wipe" tool for the G2x with the following features: Nullifier, Formatter, Cache and Dalvik "wiper",
and Error-Checker
Each tool, minus the Cache and Dalvik portion, is customizable, that is to say, you can select the partitions you want targeted, and, in the case of the Nullifier, the number of wipes.
A little about each:
Nullifier: An in-depth (and true) wipe tool (see thread here for details)
Formatter: Formats to ext4 and runs and error check afterwards.
Error-checker: Checks for errors and corrects as possible.
Cache and Dalvik cleaner now with nullify option: Includes option to perform a dual or single-pass Nullification before it formats /cache, checks for any errors, and deletes the Dalvik cache.
Link:
G2x AIO FM 2.5.5.zip - 4.54 MB

20 Nov 2012:
Incremental update, added options for single and dual-pass nullification under the cache and dalvik wiper.
Minor code clean-up (mostly for me)
12 Nov 2012:
Added AROMA File manager to list of options.
If you don't know what that is go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
Known issues:
26 Oct: All bugs are now handled.
New features are: Working progress bars and ICS theme.
Pre-26 Oct update:
1. No progress bar on the Nullifier.
2. Pressing the back button in the menu system causes AROMA to freeze, this seems to be a problem with AROMA itself.

Reserved, just in case.

The term "kitchen sink" comes to mind...
Thanks for another great utility

Well, if I could think of something else to add in I would. I figure why just make something for a select number instead of making something broadly desirable.

Wicked!! Gotta love them AIO's!!

Thank you sir for another amazing tool .
Aroma reminds me of my old HTC Touch Pro2... oh the memories.
I got a little scared when I just went for "check for errors" and that message "make sure you flash a ROM" popped up I got a little scared haha but guess that just prompts up automatically no matter which option is chosen .

So this replaces the nuliffier app right

Yea, where it's possible to make it have to be triggered, I would have to make it triggerable for everything but the cache and Dalvik and error checker; it would get quite complex and time consuming. I may get to making UI refinements depending on the popularity of this. It has something for everyone, even the haters can only complain about having to look at the word Nullifier.

I'm fired up to give this a shot but when I go to the link it says "we're upgrading the drives on the server this file resides on" and "follow us on twitter for updates". This might sound like a stupid question but do you think that's a lengthy process then, or is it just like standard maintenance? I'll keep checking either way I was just curious because I've never seen that before

Hang in there man from what I remember a double takes 14-16 mins. I haven't checked it out yet so I could be wrong, but I don't think the status bar worked anyway so I wouldn't worry about it. Whatever you do don't freak out and pull the battery let it do it's thing and all should be well!
Sent from my Motorola StarTAC

I will have to update the op, for now, the progress.bar is non-functional, the code was modified for it and I need the info to re-script it. If someone will pm me a log I will work on it. I just moved and my computer isn't set-up right not, so all my scripting is either done at work when we're not busy or on my phone.
Edit: known issues added to second post.

Im gonna do, gonna try the paranoid android rom, and im gonna scrub my g2x clean! courtesy of bonk!

Possible Port
I was wondering if you could port the G2X AIO tool to the G2. I've been having really weird things show up in my logs for my G2, and I think the AIO tool would help. I can provide the cwm log from cache/recovery/last_log as I saw that's what you need from other posts for just The Nullifier. I tried to send PM, but it keeps showing me nothing sent.

Got your pm, yea the log has exactly what I need. Can you also provide me with an update-binary from a ROM or other flashable zip for that device?

cant take screenshots. phone is down (random reboot problem, sure you have heard about it) so if somebody can flash and take some for me, that would be great.
Is this installed through recovery? When I tried it failed and said installation aborted.

yes it is flashable through recovery. what was the exact error it gave you? that is not good news. checking for errors now. btw, what zip did you flash?
******* EDIT******
I had previously flashed the two zips from other post. Thats why i didnt even notice installation was aborted and why i dont have a battery percent.

[ClockWorkMod] for the SGS4G Public Beta 3 [05/12/2011]

Code:
Beta2 change log:
complete rework of recovery.fstab.
rework of recovery source
CWM now fully up to date with latest version
and more
drhonk and I are proud to bring to you CWM3 for the SGS4G.
Now, before I post this, We are not responsible for any bricks.
Issues:
/system mounts, however it doesn't unmount to be able to format during a restore.
What works:
FULL ROM FLASHING!!! Backup, Advanced Restore of Data and Cache, Flashing zips (mods, boot animations, kernels, modems, etc), Error reporting and everything else but full restore due to the system issue.
How to get to recovery: Power Menu Mod, Quick Boot App, adb reboot recovery, 3 button salute.
What you will need to do:
Use Root Explorer, Android Commander, Droid Explorer or what ever else is out there to replace the recovery binary in /system/bin with the one attached. This will allow you to flash the update.zip from stock recovery.
After the file is replaced reboot the phone.
Put the update.zip on your external SD, boot into recovery and choose the 2nd Option to flash update.zip from SD.
This will boot you into CWM.
Biggest change from 2.5.1.2 to 3.x:
your normal zips will not work on this CWM or any future CWM for that matter. CWM3 has been updated to only allow edify updater-scripts. You will need to modify all of your update-scripts to be in the edify format. I will need to find a link on how to do this and post it in this thread.
More updates to follow. This is just to hold everyone over for now. Again, please do not complain that you can not restore or ( flash a full rom (untested)). This is a known issue, and is actively being worked on. drhonk and I worked on this all day and are tired.

[SCRIPTS] [Updater-Scripts] EFS-backup, Clean_Wipes, Wifi Fix

Hey Guys. (THESE HAVE ONLY BEEN TESTED BY ME ON GB 2.3.6)
I have put together a collection of updater scripts for my own use. I think they will be helpful.
They are a work in progress...I may need some more testers or feedback.
I wasn't sure if these belonged in the Themes/apps or Q/A. I guess mod can move if appropriate.
If more needs come up, I can try to fix or do something else.
1. The EFS_Backup will back up your EFS into a tar file that can be restore via Odin, Heimdall or extract/copy/paste in the even you lose your EFS on a bad flash. It will be handy to have. I know it works because I tried it several times. You only need 1 or 2. It will make a file on your /SDCARD/EFS_BACKUP/
2. Clean_Wipe: This contains multiple layers of delete of old systems files, data files, cache files, dalvik files and any other left overs from a previous ROM. Hopefully flashing this before you flash a ROM will wipe all traces of previous ROM to give you a clean slate. This will not erase your SDcard or microSD card.
DO NOT FLASH THIS unless you are ready to flash a ROM or have a ROM on your SDcard. If you tried to reboot without flashing a ROM, all you will see is a pretty bright white Samsung logo.
Ideally this will eliminate the need to jumping around in CWM trying to manually erase everything.
3. Bluetooth_fix. Ideally this would restore the infuse BT function bases on UCLB3 files. Flash it. Fix permission and reboot. It seems to work for some but not others...I don't know why yet. This is tested on INFUSE NATIVE ROM only..I DONT BELIEVE THIS WILL WORK ON MIUI or CM7. I have no idea what that will do. If I get more understanding, I will make revisions if needed.
4. Wifi_Fix: After flashing some ROMs, some people have wifi issues. Dropping etc. I have suspected that it is due to left over from previous ROMs or problems with multiple writes during cache build. I'm not sure. I have not had this happened to me over some many attempts to borked it. I wrote this up as an attempt to delete the broken configuration and force a new file generation.
I tried it on mine and it does just that. However, not being broken before, I can't tell if if will fix your borked wifi connection. The current best fix is reseting your router or changing the DHCP time - which in essense, forces your phone to produce a new configuration. This may save you a walk to your router log in and changing the DHCP.
edit: (3/28/2012) This may not fix more long standing wifi issues some users are having. It may fix the log on/drop off scenario.
Again...my disclaimer is that this is for development purposes. I have tried them all...I can make no warranties on them or their safety on your phone.
I hope you can find them useful.
Feedback is welcome...good or bad...so I can learn some more.
I like the practicality this has.

Thanks..one more confirmed working.
The idea I had in the wipe script is that sometimes a complete wipe is not needed. One may want to save some data. In vagabond, I had put in complete wipes to ensure first time installation success... that got tedious after frequent set ups when I was testing. If I set up another build, no wipe will be in the ROM. The end user can decide. I thought this would be useful for others as well switching between ROMs without the hassle of navigating in cwm.
thanks qkster
the Clean Wipe is it just a faster way to wipe data/wipe cache/wipe dalvik? is it better then going odin or Heimdall?

It's faster than trying to jump around in cwm wiping everything. It will ensure a 99% clean..I'm leaving the last 1% for the idk moment. For most instances, it will suffice.
I use Heimdall or Odin only when I need to fix a boot loop, system file error, partition corruption or if I thought the problem came from using a froyo base with a gb rom.
I really like this idea. The wipe file is genius.

Based on CM7, this is a ROM that provides a basic experience while keeping all features.
Working:
Pretty much everything.
The goods:
zipaligned
Minumum RAM usage
Using T-Mobile/ CM7 theme engine
Fully customizable
4G (maybe- not availible where I live.)
Standard Gingerbread launcher
Note: the messaging app might fail to send any messages. To fix this, go to settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all -> messaging -> clear data. Then restart your device.

I have not seen this issue before, even with several re-flashes of the ROM. Go back to the recovery, wipe everything but the SD card and flash both files again. Might be your data connection. Can you specify this error or even better send us screen caps of it? Just hold power button and tap Screenshot.

For the market errors, try going into language and keyboard, select any other English language. Open market then close the market. Go back into language and select united states English again. This was recommended and it worked for me. Also, adding an additional Gmail account was recommended as well. Good luck.

There is really only one GB AOSP rom other than CM that can't be considered a kang in one way or another. That's SalvageMod. Really there is no shame in the kang, so long as the dev gives proper creds. (Which he did) I have a couple here in dev section myself.
Congrats to the OP on your first offering, I for one will be watching your progress. Hit me up anytime if you think I can help you out.

[Q] Need Advice Loading [ROM][ICS 4.0.4]Genesis - Stable Build1 - CM9/AOKP Hybrid

Hello,
This is my first post here so go easy
I am trying to install [ROM][ICS 4.0.4]Genesis - Stable Build1 - CM9/AOKP Hybrid on LG P999 with no success. I rooted using super one click and made a backup. I flashed 5.0.2.0 to the device and tried loading Mr. Apocalypse's build following every instruction to the letter. The install appears to work fine allowing me to choose options and I get to the reboot prompt fine. I answered the baseband question and opted for the harsh kernel.
After reboot I get the white LG logo then the display dims and there are light leaks of varying degree but nothing after that. I waited about 45 minutes the first time and have waited up to an hour with nothing. I have tried [ROM][CM9][JUL13-Build80] Domination with similar results. I get to the reaper kernel image after reboot and that's as far as it goes. I followed all the instructions to the letter and I have no idea what is wrong.
Anyone that has a suggestion, other than buying a better phone, please let me know. Is there another method I can try?
Thanks in advance.
With Genesis, install it with the stock kernel, then after the first boot load harsh separately. Some phones get a boot loop with harsh in Aroma

I will give that a go, thank you very much for the advice. I will check in to let you know how it turned out.
Also, how did you flash CWM? If the answer is anything other than "NVflash" stop what you're doing and search in the dev section for NVflash

Yes, I used the command prompt on my PC to load the NVFlash image. From what I have learned reading that is the only way it will work correctly.
It is currently loading after the initial reboot and at the LG logo with the blue streak, which is encouraging.

Ok, that is good that you used nvflash to get CWM on your phone, that definitely wasn't the problem. Like he said earlier, could've been the kernel.

Still on the LG splash with blue, I am now considering dancing around the device wearing a tinfoil hat and a chickenfoot necklace... It would be incredibly cool if there was a way to pull a logfile after install or see one while the install is happening.
How long should this normally take? Almost 1 hr now..

Hahahaha, I almost laughed out loud at that. Umm, have you tried just a basic rom, like CM7? Just to compare if it works or something to see if it'll flash correctly and not your phone, and it might be a bad download for genesis. Just to be sure, it is indeed a P999?

I have a GB 2.3.3 on it now that loaded no problem. I tried that two days ago after several failed attempts. I am thinking its something here though because I couldn't get the ICS Domination ROM to work on it either. The GB ROM worked great after I flashed a new baseband to it. I had the static problem before that. It just doesn't want to cooperate with ICS. And the SD card is empty as well, I wanted to make sure there was enough room for a swap file.
I pulled the battery and it boots to the second LG logo and that's where it stays. I suppose both of the ROMs I tried could have been bad downloads, but idk., this has me flummoxed beyond belief. - and yes, it is a P999 (G2x) I bought about a year ago at a t-mobile store. I think it's time for a burial at sea for this thing!
There's always a fix. Possibly a bad download. You could try another CWM, the touch one, because I know a kernel doesn't flash on the touch one, but possibly those roms might flash on a touch recovery. Idk, I'm just babbling here.

Naw, not babble... I call it thinking with the keyboard still in gear. I will try the touch CWM idea, and keep plugging away. There IS a fix, I just haven't tripped over it yet. Thanks again!
I will post an update when I have some more data to spew.

Yeah, no problem, I just wish I could think a little better, its late on a school night, so my brain is mush, haha. Well, if you still need help, keep looking for answers and ask here, I'll help, and so will others!

Thanks again, and I will not give up on this, I am way more stubborn than that. I just flashed CWM v5.8.1.3 and restoring. I am going to try to load yet another variation of ICS and report the outcome. If nothing else, I do like this touch image I just loaded!
Have you tried doing a wipe before installing a rom? I've had times where known good roms won't boot just because I didn't wipe before installing it. If your gonna give this method a go try using this to wipe it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854850
Success!
Thanks for all the advice, you guys rock!
I flashed the CWM touch and downloaded AOPK Milestone 6 4.0.4 just to see if it would load. I did the same procedure as I have with all the others and it worked. I guess it was the CWM version? IDK, Going to try to go back to Genesis tomorrow. Thanks again to each of you for all of your help and advice.
Good deal. I've been using CWM touch ever since it showed up in the forums for our phone, and I've never had a problem flashing anything

3G - 4G troubles?
I like it so far, much better than the older version I was using. I noticed this morning that I don't get any signal other than wifi. It looks like some people that did not opt for wifi were able to get signal after reinstalling with that option chosen. I did add the wifi initially, but no signal at all for data thus far. I didn't see any settings that I missed, the battery saver data stuff is unchecked and there aren't any others I could find. I am going to reinstall and hope it takes care of it.
A quick wipe and reload fixed it! :good:
