[Boot Animation] Official CM10 Boot Animation - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello everyone!
Here is the official CM10 boot animation that many of us have been waiting for! I've tested it and it works beautifully on the Infuse.

Instructions:
1. Download to your phone's SD card
2. Flash in recovery
3. Allow the device to reboot itself. It will reboot back into recovery (this is normal)
4. Reboot manually from recovery. The Samsung and CyanogenMod boot logos may seem to appear longer than usual. This is normal when you change the boot animation and adds only a couple of extra seconds. Please be patient.
5. Behold the glory of the official CM10 boot animation
Please note: I take no responsibility for the work done on this animation. I'm just simply passing it down to the Infuse community. All credit goes to the CyanogenMod team and Cameron Behzadpour. This is the 480x800 version that is compatible with our device.

thanx dude.itz superb.

Thanks... love it ...

Pretty nice, may want to say the reboot back to recovery can take a while, i almost thought my phone was bricked lol

I thought that was just me. Thanks for also confirming this. I'll add it to the OP. I was experiencing the same thing with the nexus boot animation.

Is it possible to just put the boot ani in with a root explorer or does it have to be flashed?

You should be able to but I haven't tested it. Make sure you download the zip. Extract bootanimation.zip from /system/media/. Copy the file then mount /system as writable. Finally go to /data/local and paste. (Can anyone confirm this? I haven't done it in a long time)

The boot animation zip on my phone is in system/media. The reason I ask is because the cm9 one is like 200 JPEG split between the 2 folders an the new cm10 one is like 100. I was nervous something might look for those other files.

Ah this was useful "In ALL versions of Android since version 2.0, the use of /data/local is recommended as it is the first place the OS looks for the animation. If it cannot find one there, it defaults to /system/media. /data/local has at least 2 advantages: 1) the file size is not as limited as s/m allowing for larger animations or larger image sizes in them & 2) if you put it there and it is a bad download or any other reason it may boot loop, it is easier to remove from /data/local with a simple adb line and your device defaults back to the default one in /system/media."
Thanks to moderator fish1552 at xoomforums.com for this.

successfully flashed mine & looks nice! it only takes about 5secs upon loading on my unit. thanks for sharing

Nice! For me, I found that clearing the caches, flashing the boot animation, then fixing permissions just to be safe made the boot-up process faster, for those of you who are impatient like me.

I like it also but is there a way to add a Flashing 10 in the Center for the CM 10
i am not a Photoshop person to do such a design

There is definitely a way to add a flashing 10. I have a lot of work to do now that I'm back at school, but you can find custom numbers and use Paint.NET as a substitute for Photoshop, and it's free.
http://www.getpaint.net/
Secondly make sure you have Boot Animation factory.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678540
This process is not as hard as it seems. Download the zip in the OP and extract it. In the extracted folder, you'll navigate to system>media>bootanimation where you'll find yet ANOTHER zip. Extract that and inside is the magic of the boot animation. About 100 different pictures in two folders that make up the boot animation. Edit each one to your liking in Paint.NET and add whatever effects you want. Repackage the boot animation zip file with the program of your choice, then repackage the WHOLE thing so that it can be flashed within recovery.
Use Boot Animation factory to preview your new boot animation and make it usable on your phone. It's just a tedious process. When editing the images, just make sure that you don't change the size of the image on accident.

Thanks for sharing. It worked just as explained
It's a nice change until I find a good Fallout startup to go with my phone's theme...or until I get bored with the whole HEY! Shiny object!

Kudos for having the patience! I'm glad it turned out for you. If you want to really get adventurous you can make your boot animation completely custom with that method. Maybe you can start making a glowing Fallout logo boot animation for multiple devices and post.

Hmm...good idea. I made up a quick & dirty Aperture Laboratories (from Portal) startup screen a while back, so I know I can pull off at least SOMETHING...assuming I can stick with a ROM for more than a day

This is what I do for bootanimations, j use gimp (free...but you can use,any software...paint-lol, or just any image) to get the basic single image made at,480x800
Then I get a video editor...I use one on linux called lives (free)
I create a clip using the picture...usually picking 100-150 frames...at 25fps that's 4-6 seconds
I then mess around with the video effects...add swirls, spins, color changes, zooming in/out...etc
When done all the images are kept ins folder so I take that folder and copy it to windows...I boot into windows and use bootanimation factory to turn it into a proper bootanimation zip (can never get it when I do it myself)
If you can't locate the folder the images are saved you can save it into a video...you can then use software to extract the frames...anyways that's just a quick way to make boot animations instead of manually changing each image...

A video editor is a great idea. I might have to boot up the old Linux box and try that program. I figured there was something out there to extract the frames. Thanks for the tip mg

New Boot Animations and PowerOn Sounds (runs on voodoo kernel)

***************************************************************************************
******Download this to Preview what the Animations look like******
***************************************************************************************
These Are Bootanimations which are little videos that play when your phone is turning on.. You can also add some of the poweron.mp3 files I've listed to replace the stock boot up sound.
Instructions:
FYI... You may want to save your stock bootanimation and poweron before overwriting them...
You can download these bootanimations using the XDA app (Easiest Way). It will store them on your sdcard/download (folder) Or you can download them to your computer.. (you have to download the PowerOn files using your PC as of now)
Move/Copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media (using Root Explorer make sure to click R/W at the top right corner so you can paste)
Move/Copy poweron.mp3 to /system/etc (Your poweron.mp3 may be named something different, check your stock first and see, if it's different than what I have, simply rename the file to what yours is)
Then Reboot.. you should see your new bootanimation and hear your new poweron right after the SAMSUNG text...
I'm open for request, no promises!!!!

Not bad as a first design. Especially thinking that just a couple of days ago you were asking how to just change the boot animation. I hope my little tutorial helped you out. Give it a week or so more and you'll have a whole series coming out!!
ha.. we'll see. I have lots in my head, but i think there's more settings that I'm not aware of. I see those choppy blocks in it. I think it may have something to do with Frame Per Second, but not sure how to change that.
here's my 2nd one.. Getting better!!!
I figured out the Frames Per Second it's in the text file right after resolution..

[BOOTANIMATION] Xoom Bootanimation

So this is the Xoom bootanimtion rotated and scaled to fit our phone. I just pulled it from the system dump. Sent it to my boy bigt305. Then he did all the magic. DO NOT FLASH!!! You have to move it to /system/media with Root Explorer, etc. Enjoy, I do!
EDIT: So I added a tweaked one which seems to run better, on my phone at least. Also here's a link to a flashable version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11652410&postcount=458. Be sure to thank Kfunk.

Not to be condensending, but lets review what you should do.
1. Dl the zip.
2. Rename zip to "bootanimation.zip", no quotation marks.
3. Move file to the system/media folder. There should be one there already.
4. Paste the new .zip. It should ask if you want to overwrite the current. Say yes.
5. Reboot. It should work at this time.
Like I said, I'm not trying to be an ass, just trying to help. I know the file is good, I use it myself.

HELPFUL INFO FOR *ALL* BOOT ANIMATION ZIPS
AND *ALL* USERS:
I always drop boot anim zips into data/local, that way it sticks through every ROM flashover when you don't wipe. So follow user's instructions, only leave the system one alone and put it in data/local, it will automatically override the system media. Try it and report back. Also, if it still won't work, which I doubt, you could try the non-tweaked version
well, its official, this boot animation just doesn't like my phone lol. i'm using the lastest aospgbmod. so i think i shall give up on it now. thanks tho for everyone that tried to help me out!!!
Great job on the tweaked animation, looks awesome!!! I just dropped it into /system/media w/ root explorer b/c I do a complete wipe when updating ROMs.
What do you use to move the file? I tried file manager and i cant rename, cant move, cant copy to... its like its locked or something... Any suggestions?

As stated in the OP, you need a file manager w/ R/W capabilities like Root Explorer to mount /system. I use Root Explorer myself. It's a paid app but worth every penny! I've never used EStrongs (ES File Explorer) but it is free and may work. Not sure though, sorry.
Idk if I should ask for a flashable tweaked bootanimation.zip or manually do it myself.
EDIT: Can Estrongs file manager do this or only root explorer do this?

After you save the boot animation using your computer .you have to open the zip and check both folders .there should be a "thumbs.db" file in each folder (windows automatically puts this file in both folders) remove the found thumbs.DB files and you should be all set .i encountered this problem early in the dev scene when i was making my own boot animations. Sounds like your having the same issue.

Remove the space from all of the file names. Something about unix doesn't seem to particularly like spaces in file names or directories.
If you are on windows use a utility like winzip and create a store only zip file with the folders and dir.text. If on a mac (like me), open terminal and use the zip command. If you type just plane zip it shows the options. I believe this method works on linux as well???? But, don't really know as I stay away from anything that relies that heavily on command line and coding...
Make sure you don't have any extra files like thumbs on a windows machine. If you're on a mac, you have to put in the location of every folder. (To view hidden files on a mac install the secrets prefs pane from here.
If it still doesn't work, let me know and I can troubleshoot it better for you. Also, If anyone out there needs help with doing this on a mac, let me know and I can put together a tutorial. (I never found one and had to piece it all together with some help from cogeary.)

Your problem might be encoding/line endings used in the desc.txt (if you used a normal windows editor like Notepad then it probably messed it up). Try this zip (I used notepad++ to make the desc.txt)... I haven't tested it but it should work: View attachment bootanimation.zip

Just FYI, that shouldn't make any difference... about half of the zips I've seen have been in jpg's and mine (and lfabor's SC one) are in jpg as well. How odd.
Anyways, glad you got it working! Would you mind uploading the correct one for all of the xbox fans out there?
Well do as soon as I get home

Boot Animations..

Hey folks.. I have a few questions regarding the boot animation sequence. Right now I'm using the Xi40 rom (which is awesome so far) and I feel like I want a new boot-animation.
So my questions are as follows:
Can we load boot-animations from a different phone onto ours with no issue as long as its 720p resolution?
Is anyone currently owning the One X familiar with the process to create a boot-animation? I have a couple .gifs that I would love to create some with, but I've been told they need to be chopped up one way or another? I literally dont know anything about the process...
I would love it if someone well-informed on the subject could lend their knowledge. Thanks guys

This is how I learned. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096068
Instead of part 0 and part 1 use ATT and android as the folder names. Do the same for the desc file. Then instead of bootanimation.zip use ATT_bootanimation.zip. if your on rogers use the name of you respective folders and sub folders of the bootanimation file.
Both rogers and att are located in system/customize/resources folder on device.
If you use windows make sure you have show hidden files on and delete any .thumbs files windows places in your working folders or animation will have problems, also use notepad++ (free) to build the desc file.
Hope this helps.

You can also tweak some boot and shutdown animation (and sound) properties by editing /system/customize/CID/default.xml - the BootConfiguration and ShutdownConfiguration elements. Have fun!
Is there a default ICS boot animation in native 720p? (speaking specifically of this animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DLT21a4ddk)
It's pretty much the only one I like.

I found one and tweaked it to play a little bit slower (12 fps) but you can crack it open and tweak it to your liking. I also attached the default.xml that I tweaked so that I didn't have to overwrite the ATT_bootanimation.zip and didn't hear the ATT sound during boot. The file goes in /system/customize/CID/default.xml. NOTE that I had to attach it as default.txt but you need to rename it to default.xml.
Remember to make backups!

Thanks for the tut, gonna dl some programs and give it a shot!
The boot animation I want comes from a gif i have, which i also have in avi format from recording it. So my problems lies in finding a program that will chop up any video format into individual frames in png.
Im using virtualdub but the 'save image sequence' option doesn't seem to work for me..
Am i making this more complicated than i need to?
thanks again
edit*
ah! figured out how to save the sequence. will update again later.

Guess you got it figured out but I ran across this for Windows that sounds like it will extract GIF animation frames to JPG or PNG (though only a frame at a time): http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-extract-frames-from-gif-animation-image/

It's actually resource, not resources. At least on my ATT HOXL. I imagine you could put the zip in any number of places as long as default.xml pointed to that location.

ok, so my boot animation should work, but can anyone explain the default.xml aspect to me?

figured it out. sorry for all the edits.
Keeps getting overridden by the old boot, and now the simple old "classic" android bootanimation.. halp
i feel like ive made some progress though!

Open up default.xml and look at the BootConfiguration element. I'm no expert in these areas but at the very least it specifies the boot animation zip file location. You can also specify a sound to play at boot time. I have a copy of the stock default.xml that uses the sound attribute - or you can crack open the stock RUU and look at it yourself.
I've only started playing with this in the last couple of days so I'm sure there are folks here with better answers ;-)

can you attach your /system/customize/CID/default.xml file (might need to rename it) and then tell me the name and location of your boot animation zip?

first of all i just wanted to say im grateful that youre replying
Im editing the file now and I noticed the bootloader tidbit, which i edited to point to the location of my bootanimation, which i guess doesnt work
ive got my animation zipped perfectly i believe so im a bit confused..
let me post some pics and tell me what you think
In the first attachment you can see that im pointing it towards my zip, which is in the 2nd attachment.
In the 3rd attachment is what my zip looks like, i copied it to be exactly like that of the previous bootanimation thats in my rom, but of course edited to launch my own animation.
edit- whenever i restart my phone it immediately skips any animation straight to my desktop
Are you using the "store" compression type when creating the zip?

[BOOTANIMATION] Bios bootanimation for HTC One SV

Hi dudes,
did my first bootanimation for HTC ONE SV, so don't be to hard to me
Please note:
I have tested it and it worked.
Your device must be rooted to use this.
Use it on your own risk and only if you know what you do!
If you wanna have a look:

Download it from attachment and replace the original one (but please make a backup before) with a root explorer in the folder /system/customize/resource/.
Set the permission to rw-r--r--
I wanna thank to scar45 that he gave me permission to use his files/bootanimation for DHD as base!
This is great!
Thanks for the animation I do like it a lot. I will put it in my phone as soon as I get a chance.
Will report back if it works.:good:
It does work and it is flashable via CWM (not directly but easily) !
I'm S-off, SuperCID, Bootloader Unlocked and Rooted. Running JB
I got the Cricket version of the One SV and I'm trying to get a boot animation working that I made. After I got together the images I wanted I figured I would follow the same folder tree and named them the same as what was in the original boot animation. I also made a sound to replace the original one. I used winrar on normal compression and copied it over to my sd card. I backed up my original and copied and overwritten the original one. I also did the same with the sound. Renaming both after the ones they are replacing. After replacing both files I restarted my phone. The sound I replaced played during the original shutdown animation so I took that as a good sign. But when the phone restarted it was just a black screen the sound didn't even play. Does anyone know how i can fix this. Thanks In advance.

No, must be the same filename as stock. I mean compression in settings when packing.
Here how it looks like in german:

Ok tried it like you showed me and it didn't work. So i tried an app on my phone called Zarchiver and it had a option to zip with no compression and it worked great. Thanks for the help if you ever need a tester for cricket for this phone i'll be more then happy to test it for you. I do know that your deodexed framework and apps somewhat work on the lte just the programs crash and no cell service wifi works just can not make calls.Oh and preparing sim card also kept coming up.

The bootanimation thing is a little bit tricky. It took me also many tries to get it sorted out, but 7zip did the trick for me.
As for cricket: if somebody will upload a system dump or a cwm backup (only system) i will see what i can do.

I can do that for you let me switch to CWM since i got TWRP installed now i wanted to make a CWM backuo also so to have both. I'll have that dump for you in about an hr ill reflash my JB stock rom that i made before deleting some system apps.
Nice bro and thanks. I've got this running on my Boost SV now.
Does this require the russian kernel?
If you are S-on, yes.
No wonder I couldn't get it running

I used Photoshop Elements, but every photosoftware should do it.
You need the font installed on your pc, choose it in the photosoftware (must look at my pc, how its the name). Now draw out with black color (only) the parts you want to overwrite. Now go to writing. Pick up the color of the font and choose the right size. Write the text, you wanna write and some of the text at the left or the right. Then move the text in the position. Use the text at the left or the right to get it in its position.
Do this with every picture.
