Problem when flashing CM ROM - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm not sure if this has been covered in another thread, but I was looking around a bit and found nothing and sorry if this isn't the correct place. I wasn't sure.
I have an LG P509(TmoUSA). Yesterday I rooted it for the first time and installed CM10 on it via ROM manager. After it successfully installed, I noticed I didn't have any signal and that my imei was missing. It said "Unknown" . On my dialer I pressed *#06# and a little box popped up with nothing in it. I switched back to stock rom using LG tools and both my imei and signal had been restored. I attempted it again but this time, I tried installed CM 7 via the ROM manager along with Google apps. The same happened. I again, restored back to stock. I attempted it a THIRD time, but, this time I did it via clockwork. I cleared cache and data and installed from zip. I installed CM 7 and CM 10 though this method. Both times my imei was gone and my signal was as well. Right now I'm sitting with stock rom and rooted.
Does anyone know what's going on? Can I not install custom roms with my phone without loosing my imei?

I think you did not upgrade your baseband, thats the only reason you are not getting signal. I cant tell about p509 but i had the same problem, but my phone is p500. You have to flash v20 baseband for new roms i.e higher then gingerbread search the forum i have a link but its for p500. Not sure if both p500 and p509 baseband are same anyway here is link for p500 baseband, just ask if both p500 and p509 baeseband are same if they are same you are good to go.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504

I had the same issue but with cm 9 and upgrading to the new baseband fixxed it for me

Thanks for the replies guys. I was in the process of upgrading the baseband, but I fell asleeping during the back up. I'm doing it now as we speak though. :good: I will post results.

It did work! Upgrading the baseband worked! Thanks for helping me out My IMEI and service as came back.
..and by the way, I think P500 and P509 are the same.

My IMEI is gone:(.

Hello,
Todat i got the problem that my IMEI is gone.
After i went from stock v21e via KDZ method to cyanogenmod rc3 everything was working fine.
now i wanted to try DNA rom and flashed that. but it didnt work. my IMEI was gone.
so i flashed it back to stock v21e with smartflash because kdz method is not working anymore?
But my IMEI is still GONE
is there a way that i cna get this back or do i nee to send it to LG?
Greets, Paul
Help 4 you
Same happened here. Use LGMobileSupportTool, google it. And use recover mobile by S/N and model, or press update device. It will put everything back to normal. But make shure you have most LGïsh rom flashed, coz the software will not accept your phone otherwise. Or just drop me a pm with your email. Ill sent you the software.
Hi. Yes, I’ve had that same problem. You might want to try this fix: Google “TitanKernel_V0.4.2_V21D_09-04-2012”. This might fix it, before having to go through starting from the beginning. I have V21e KDZ flashed, this fix and “ICS_Real3D_Edition_GB_v1.2_Final” flashed on top. Works great.
I got a problem with flashing back the KDZ. i got everything liek normal with lgmobilesupporttool. but when i start small http like normal and start lgmobileupdate.
i get an maintenance error? from lg?
program is not used anymore by LG?
greetings, Paul
Ok so i got it flashed back to stock. by letting it update.
now i got v21b. and got it rooted with megatron.
but when i install any custom rom except for cyanogenmod. my IMEI gets lost again?

No netwrok or IMEI number on installing CM7

Ok, I know there are a lot of threads on these topic and believe me i have spent a lot of time reading multiple threads and the end result is i am not sure how to proceed , for my particular froyo version so I am posting it here hoping some Kind soul will help/suggest me on installing Cyanogen mod 7.
So here I go.
I have an LG P500 model phone with Anroid Froyo 2.2.1 (Software version V10c-DEC-08-2012, Build number FRG-83, KErnel 2.6.32.9 ). After trying several ways finally I have rooted my phone successfully. after making a clockwork recovery of my custom ROM, I proceeded to install CM7 Stable (for P500) using my 2GB memory card with 200 MB free space, it did not succeed and got stuck with the CM7 android logo.
I cleared up my memory upto 450MB and proceeded again by deleting cache/data and installing CM7 stable. This time it did install but i lost the IMEI number and the phone could not detect any network. I got the same result when i tried CM7 RC-3 . being unable to get a working phone I have reverted back to my custom rom using recovery.
After reading so many threads about these issues, i feel that this is some kind of basband problem as mine version is V10C, Can someone please help me how to install CM7 without loosing my IMEI and netwroks. (a step by step approach would me most appreciated). Thanks in advance.
Yes you need to upgrade your baseband to V20, there are several tutorials (step by step) on how to upgrade baseband on this forum.
Sent from my LG-P500
Thanks for the reply, but do i need to install the new baseband after flashing with CM7 or prior to installingCM7, Please clarify this. as I dont want to get stuck again.
cm7 roms are new bb. u need to upgrade to v20 b4 flashng cm7. u can do it using lg pc suite or kdz updater.
Solved
I followed
tried to install V20 using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504 which i found from here
I followed the steps in the thread but nothing noticable changed after doing it.
Thinking it had worked somehow I Flashed it now with CM7 but sadly nothing changed and my phone still did not had any network or IMEI even now.
I followed this http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/44849-My-experience-rooting-and-ROMing-the-p500-on-Android-2.2.2..... and flashed using oldBBfix_signed.zip and whoa I got my network working again in no time.
Thank you guys for your reply and special Thanks to the people who made the threads that i have added above. :good::laugh:

[Q] Sim-card NOT working, LOST IMEI after Flashing CM 7.2.0

Hi all,
Flashed a new ROM for the very first time and I guess I've screwed up something.
I flashed the stable version of CyanogenMod 7.2. Everything seems to be running fine EXCEPT my sim-card is NOT being detected!
Cant find any network. Also the new ROM has completely wiped out my IMEI no. (That could be the source of the problem, dont know.)
Also, I really dont know my current or previous baseband,, err newbie!( maybe thats the cause of problem)...
Pls somebody HELP!
PS. my phone aint carrier specific and was earlier running on 2.2.1(if it helps )
Baseband problem, you was on a Froyo (10b-e) baseband, CM7 requires the 20G baseband, restoring a Nandroid should work. If you haven't got one. Then you will be using the LG flasher, good luck!
There's a baseband fix script lying around the forums somewhere that should allow new baseband ROMs to work for you. Search for something called "bbfix", or something like that.

Flash it in recovery and see if that works

Updating my p509 from 2012/2013

I purchased an Optimus T (P509) in 2012 and had it unlocked to use on a trip I went to europe. I played around with it a lot and messed with custom roms and basebands, and then left it alone for about a year. I'm now downsizing my phone/tech collection in general and looking to update this to use as a daily driver.
Here's the info about my phone:
ClockworkMod recover v5.0.2.0
Baseband: LGP509AT-00-V10l-OPEN-COM-OCT-23-2010
CyanogenMod version: 10-20130108-UNOFFICIAL-p509
Build number: cm_p509-userdebug 4.1.2 JZO54k eng.arjen.20130108.030427 test-keys
My questions are:
What updates to baseband (if any) do I need to do? Would this mess up my unlock?
Do I need to flash a new recovery?
What ROM would be best for my needs as a daily driver? requirements are stable without crashes and everything works, followed by the newest android version.
Really the rom part I can experiment with later, I'm just not sure if I've hosed myself with the baseband 'fixes' that I recall messing with 2 years ago. I have a new sim card on the way that I will use with this.

1 - Actually upgrading baseband on that device would lock you out of some frequencies the radio ( not the FM radio ) uses to communicate with the carriers towers. I also have a Optimus T ( P509 ), tho no longer in service.
2 - Depends if you want KitKat ( 4.4 ). If you do then you'll need CWM 6.0.4.4 or newer. I am currently working on a utility for older CWM versions to be able to install KitKat but until then you'll need what I just mentioned. If not too interested in KitKat then you can leave your recovery as is. I use CWM 5.0.2.7 Touch by @vivekkalady. I've been using her recovery since she introduced it.
3 - You'll have to search and make that decision for yourself as we all have different needs and habits.

That's interesting what you said about the current baseband, I'm not sure if I changed it after I last used it. But I turned off airplane mode and popped in a T-mob sim and it wasn't able to connect to a network, similar results with H2O wireless card (at&t mvno). I'm not sure if my current version of android is messed up or the baseband.
I don't mind upgrading CWM, is there any downside to doing so? Is there a kitkat build out now that works? I may want to use KitKat as I hear it's meant to be more usable on smaller memory systems like the p509.
I don't mind finding one I like eventually, but looking for a recommendation to start off with that should work without too much difficulty.
Thanks for you help so far, I hope if can figure out this cell network problem :-/

Either your APN settings are wrong, which you can manually fix, or you did upgrade/downgrade/change baseband. The P509 is supposed to be an old baseband phone. The P500 and P509 are identical. Only difference is the P500 is a new baseband device. You can flash a P500 ROM. If you don't get any signal, then most likely your on old baseband. There is a patch for that, no biggie. If you do get signal then you're on new baseband and you should continue to use P500 ROMs. If you decide to flash a P509 ROM you won't have any service which will be a baseband issue. There is a new baseband patch around here somewhere too.
You can find a link to the old baseband patch in the LG Optimus One FAQ. Post #8 or #9, I think.

I wasn't certain what my starting point was since I'd done this so long ago (and I thought I applied the old BB fix at some point too...). Anyways, I took a drastic step and installed the stock rom V10s_00.kdz with the kdz installer from LG. It successfully flashed and I don't have a brick on my hands
The problem is now the phone doesn't recognize any sim cards, of which I've tried 3: tmobile micro, h2o micro, and a gophone minisim. The microsims were put in a cut out minisim as an adapter. The gophone is a normal minisim that is uncut, but it's not activated. I never got a locked or bad sim message, just that there is no sim card in place.
Under phone status it shows a signal strength (varies -65 to -75 and 25 asu)
Under APN settings it matches the T-mobile ones
And the baseband via secret menu is amss6038
I'm wondering if the sim module or gsm module are messed up? I kinda want to try out the emergency calling but would rather not get the police involved
I messed up my SIM contacts when I left an adapter in there and pulled it a little too hard out! I removed the compression plate on the back and it works again. I'll have to get a small piece of electronic safe foam to apply pressure to the back of the SIM to keep it in proper position. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2598308)
I'm interested in the kitkat build here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589303
If I were to want to use that, do I need to flash the baseband fix on top of the other install instructions? Anything special in terms of timing it at a certain point in the install process?
Thanks for your help so far, I forgot how much fun messing with android was

Well, we still aren't sure if your device is new or old baseband. With the recovery you already have, flash CM10.1, CM10.2, or CM10.3 ( All JellyBean ). Latest CM10.2 builds can be downloaded here. Easiest way to work around the baseband thing is to figure out which ROMs, P500 or P509, that will give you cell service. Flash a P509 ROM. If no service then you upgraded baseband so you'll need to use P500 ROMs. Flash a P500 ROM and if no service then you're on old baseband and you should use P509 ROMs. Only difference between P500 and P509 ROMs is the P500 ROMs are NEW baseband and the P509 ROMs are OLD baseband.
As of now the only KitKat ROMs being build are for the P500. If you find you are OLD baseband, flash the oldbb fix from the FAQ I mentioned a couple posts back. Oh, and you'll need the newest CWM 6.0.4.4 or newer recovery to flash KitKat.
Hope all this helps...

Well, I'm on the old baseband, the reason I know is I used KDZ to nuke it back to p509 stock! The more I read about kdz after I did it the more scared I got, but I lucked out and everything is fine now
The sim unlock is preserved, and I successfully rooted it with gingersnap. I don't have any sort of recover on it yet, it looks like CWM 6.0.4.4 does not work with older roms, just Kitkat based ones. So I'll do some more homework and figure out if I want to jump right into KK or try JB first.
Thanks for all your help, you gave me a quick jumpstart and brought back a lot of knowledge that was tucked away in the back corner of my brain!

[Q] No service, tried everything

I got a p500h from my friend since my razr droid died and I needed something to hold me over until I can save up for the note3. It had 2.2 on it so I flashed CM 10.1 for 4.2.2. When I put my sim card in I had no service.
I checked the baseband and it was unknown so I flashed it for v.20 and it appeared but I still get no service.
I don't have gapps installed because I don't really need it.
And that's pretty much it. I can't think of anything else to try, can someone help? I'm using a non-smart phone in the meantime and it is quite terrible.
Try the old Baseband fix, that did it for me some years ago, not sure if you need the v10 baseband coming from 2.2 but the fix should work. You can find it here on the Forum.
If nothing works, use kdz to flash the Stock Rom and start over.

Thanks, I wanted to try that but when I go to download the milk_os fix at the bottom of this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14743798&postcount=2
I get redirected to some bull****(lp.downloadsetup.net)
And I just don't trust this thing, is this really what I'm suppose to download?
Is definitely the fault of baseband. Some rom is incompatible with any type of baseband. Try to download from play store an application with baseband-ril match...

Sounds like you have an old baseband phone, but you flashed a new baseband ROM on it. In that case, simply flash the zip indicated below (I suggest you mount /system in recovery before flashing, even though the script auto-mounts /system, just to be sure). I'm attaching two zips for the sake of completeness; the one you want is the Use_New_BB_ROMS.zip.
Use_New_BB_ROMS.zip -- Flash this zip if you're trying to use a new baseband ROM on a phone that uses the old baseband. If you have no network on 2.3 and above ROMS, your phone probably uses the old baseband, so this is the zip you need.
Use_Old_BB_ROMS.zip -- Flash this zip if you're trying to use an old baseband ROM on a phone that uses the new baseband. If you have no network on 2.2 and below ROMS, your phone probably uses the new baseband, so this is the zip you need.

I tried to flash it but I get an error: can't copy META-INF/com/google/android/updated-binary
Should I be wiping cache for this? Dalvik cache?
I used LGMDP-v1.5 to get bb v.20 on my phone in the first place, I tried to do the same with v.10 after v.20 didn't work but it just went back to baseband unknown. when I tried to download the milk_os fix it just linked me to some phishing page.
What recovery are you using? I've tried with AmonRa & CWM 5.0.2.0 and both work. Other CWM versions will probably work, too. Haven't tried with TWRP.
If this flashed successfully but you still don't have service, then you might have borked something when changing baseband in KDZ. If that's the case, then hopefully others will be able to help you as I've never touched KDZ myself.

I tried it, here's what happened.
First I just flashed it, I checked the baseband, it was unknown. Previously it was v.20 so I tried flashing in v.10 since this was a fix for v.10 AFAIK
Still unknown.
Tried flashing the fix again just to overwrite whatever it needed to overwrite and still unknown.
I'm back to square 1 on this one.

Tried flashing the fix again just to overwrite whatever it needed to overwrite and still unknown.
I'm back to square 1 on this one.
