Im looking for the setting and cant find nothing. I know sprint lte is not really pushed out there but there should be a setting somewhere or will sprint release an update for that?

When you go into the settings, there is a "More" tab, and there you can find the 4g settings, although there aren't that many... hope this helps!

That would be correct. WiFi uses the GSM network and not the 4G. You may not want to turn off the WiFi to keep your data usage in check. When you leave the WiFi area it will revert back to the 4G network and the use 2G will be unchecked.

I can't remember how to turn off the 4G on my phone. I'm trying to save battery life. I can't remember if I used a program or did it under settings with ICS but I can't figure out how to turn it off with JB.

Use that and select cdma (auto prl) and then to switch back to 4g goto settings>more settings>mobile networks>network mode>lte/cdma or global
I've got to think they don't want to make this option more readily available as not only do they want people to get LTE when possible (as speed=happy customers) but they want traffic off of their EVDO network as quickly as possible. I remember how much quicker it was when EVDO A rolled out around 6 years ago.

Ever since jb update phone info will not switch it back to lte cdma you have to go into the network settings of the phone and there is options in there now

Phone Info app has been pulled from the Play Store. I'm also wanting to disable LTE. I'm running the latest VRBLK3 OTA
I tried to disable 4g once but it seemed like it didn't make that much of a difference on 3g and speeds were so slow that waiting for content to load probably made battery life worse. Ive used an app called "on X" to save battery life on my HTC Merge. Its a little more complicated than other apps, but it used java codeing to do all sorts of cool stuff. I haven't gotten too deep into it, but I have it set up to turn off 4g when my phone is sleeping, and back on when its awake. It saves a bit of battery while still letting me use 4g speeds when I need them.
Is there ANY way to force 4G only on the verizon s3 on JB update??
I was doing it with the "phone info" app, but thats not working now! help!
Just set it to LTE in phoneinfo if it doesn't work you might not have lte

I'm using an infuse 4g with JB 4.2.1 cm ROM. I unlocked my phone and put in a T-Mobile prepaid sim.
I'm supposed to have 4g consistently but I'm getting 2g(edge), 3g(umts) and on very rare occasions I get 3g(HSDPA)... Its approximately 70%-%20-%10, respectively. And these changes are all happening in the same household. No tower switching.
I only have the option to switch on 2g only in my network mode settings on cm10... APN settings are correct and all T-Mobile can say is that I won't get 4g if the tower doesn't support it..
Are there any possible solutions to obtain 4g at all?
If so, how do I keep it on all the time?
Do I need to install a new modem?
If so, which?
Any comments and/or answers would be greatly appreciated.

Could increase or decrease your signal and rate at which data is downloaded and uploaded depending on your modem of choice. Battery life is also affected minimally (usually).

I switched through a couple and uckl2 seems pretty stable but no change on carrier network service.. I want to put on kl3 but I can't find the download.. Not too many options for my phone though.. That I know of.

Since I changed to cm10 and switched to T-Mobile sim I have yet to have 4g. Tried where I'm at now and up to 70 miles from here... Very weird. I can't tell if its T-Mobile or the ROM.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking but when I called T-Mobile, they said that they cannot diagnose a non-tmobile phone. The only info that they can give me is that they assume its my location and possibly the modem but they cannot guarantee switching modems will work. Doubt they hack phones though, Lol

from my recollection..not from experience:
T-mobile or networks other than AT&T will only give you: edge or 3g.
No 4g or hpsa+
to get better than 3g, you need to be on AT&T
When the phone is on "H" I ran a speed test and its pushing 5 to 7 mb download speed. Is that close to 4g?
Any advice on how to stabilize the network?

yup.. 2-6mps for most.
if you are in an urban area and close to a tower, some are reporting 8+
