CWM freezing on backup? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I can't make a backup with cwm. I flashed it from EZ Recovery, but i get stuck on "Backing up system..." wit ha motionless progress bar, forcing me to do a battery pull, corrupting the memory stick. Lost all my data on it once this way, but oh well, I guess this stuff happens when you root your phone and fool around with it. Right now I would just like to make a backup of my phone in its current state and I am completely unable to do so. Can anyone help me?

Did you first off try to re-flash CWM? And does it get stuck if you save to both external SD and internal? Ive had problems before were I had to do hard reset when nandroid to extSD.. though internalSD worked.
Cheers.

[Q] Mounting SD card causes crash

Starting from the begining, I have a Samsung Charge which has contuniously decided to go into a boot loop every few days and the only way i know how to get it out is to do a factory reinstall, according to Verizon. So I do that everytime, but this last time it erased everything off my SD card, and now it wont recoginze my SD card, I have reformatatted it multiple times with no success. The only thing that seems to work is if i pull it while the phone is on and then i can mount it, but once I do mount it all my process begin to die and my phone within a matter of mins will return to the boot loop. What did i do? What can i do? I'm lost...

You do a factory reinstall every few days and it boot loops continuously?
Sounds like a hardware issue. Go to a corporate store and get a warranty replacement.

Missing notification bar

I did a quick search from my phone so sorry if I missed or didn't see a topic on this. I gave my girlfriend my Inspire which is totally stock (just did AT&T update), today her notification bar went missing lol. Again its a totally stock phone so no root, launchers, etc.... any help so I can get her off my back

no root ?
you gave her your inspire? anyhow if its not rooted the only thing you can do is boot into recovery and do a factory reset. The only problem is, it doesnt wipe the /system partition only /data and /cache but its worth a try.
Does unrooted inspires have recovery? I know you can do it from the bootloader screen. Or more simply just do the factory data reset from settings > SD & phone storage
yup if you have the pd98img.zip from the update in the root of sd it will reflash when you boot to bootloader it will give option to update, press up vol. to accept.
Still that's a little extreme for someone that just needs to factory reset.

did the factory reset work? factory reset you lose /data /cache, if you reflash the update you keep /data /cache whats extreme about that besides less work.
is fastboot turned off in settings-power? it doesnt reboot if not
Thanks for the replies... I got it back, I took the battery out three times then it was back.... odd to say the least

[Q] Restore Nandroid backup

So this night, I tried to restore an backup of mine. Because I had installed CM 7.10 and it removed all of my contacts so I went to restore my backup.
This backup happened to be an incomplete backup so my phone was somewhat bricked. When I boot my phone I see a black background, with a phone and a red triangle with a red exclamation mark in it.
Luckily I have a second backup, which is complete. But I have to find someway to restore this backup. I´ve copied the backup to my pc. My phone is rooted, and I have tried to write all of the images to the phone, now I get this error:
remote: signature verificition fail
How can I bypass this and restore my phone?
Thanks in advance!
bump...
I was thinking, maybe it's possible to flash a fresh cyanogenmod on it, I'm not sure if that'll work.
Phone model please

[Q] Brick G2x or no? Need Help.

So I rooted my G2x to 2.3.3 and decided to update to the Hellfire ice cream sandwich. I couldn't figure out how to turn the gapps file from md5 to a zip file, so I decided to reboot the phone with only flashing the hellfire file instead and yes I wiped the phone before doing so. I waited more than 10 min possibly it was over 30 min and the phone seemed it was in a loop but the screen just kept on blinking like turning on and off without the LG symbol coming on.
There was also no icon indicating its installing the new OS nothing on the screen. Does it mean the phone is just doing its thing? Because after 30 min I pulled the battery out (yes I know scary) and went back to recovery mode and NVflashed the phone without the battery in it. Now I'm trying to recover the previous ROM or even back to stock but not sure how.
Currently I'm waiting for the phone to do its thing, not sure whats happening just need clarification on whether its truly updating or is it stuck since I see nothing on the screen. Please can someone shed some light on this for me?
How did you root the first time, what are the steps you are trying. Look at the nvflash steps see what they say will happen if that happened then you should be good to go, there has yet to be a bricked phone. Read the rest of the threads that are labeled "bricked" and read more.

I rooted by following these instructions on this thread..

thanks for the advice I'll continue to look more for brick threads I hope to find a solution soon I haven't been able to get me phone back on in a while!

Also worth noting that an MD5 is a hash, you use it to check against your file to make sure it's a complete download. It's not the zip you need.
Then how do I get the zip file I need? when downloaded its a md5 and I can't seem to find anywhere on how to switch it to the file I need.

Gapps shouldn't prevent you from booting..this seems like a bad flash to me.. try to boot into recovery and flash the rom until the installation lasts about 8-10 seconds at least. You should also wipe data/cache and format /system in mount and storage (CWM recovery) before. If you have a nandroid backup from your stock rom, it could be restored from the recovery also

I have done that my problem is after the installation I reboot the phone and wait and the LG comes on for a few seconds goes away and the screen remains black but blinks and goes off and on and off and on. It does this over and over for a long time. My issue is ..is this normal while its rebooting the new rom? even after 30 min or more? If not how do I get the phone to come back on?
And if i can't get the phone to turn on is there any way to access the SD card to put a recovery file on there to restore the phone back to its settings?

No that's not normal. Is it flashing the rom really quick like 1-2 seconds that means a bad flash and you need to redo the flash process again (no wiping) just re-install.
For the other question, use a thumbstick drive with a micro sdcard slot. Extremely beneficial to have!

it's a bad flash, try reflashing. Your phone is fine.

Continuous Bootloop now phone won't recognize SD card

OK so my galaxy note recently got stuck in a bootloop from restoring an apps system data, completely my fault, usually this would be fixed with a simple wipe/reflash but for some reason the phone will not recognize any SD card I put in it, OK so use Odin right? Nope computer won't acknowledge the phone is connected, its stock rooted with stock recovery, I'm no noob but I can't figure out why it doesn't respond to anything, no factory reset, no adb commands, nothing, anybody got an idea?

It sounds like you might need to either A) check your USB Drivers, and possibly reinstall them, or B) check the USB cable itself, as phones for some weird reason like to be connected to their OEM cables when using adb. As for your sd card, you can try reformatting it on a PC and see if it will read it then.
That's an idea, more than I had left, I'm going to try formatting the sd card like u said, as far as drivers, I've reinstalled multiple times to no avail, tried every USB cable I have OEM and specific data cables, nothing, I can get into stock recovery, but once in recovery I'm stuck because it does not read the sd card, I can wipe everything, factory reset and reboot and all I get is one big long continuous boot loop, it's so frustrating, I've never been soft bricked and couldn't fix it, it's unbelievable!

If the filesystem is exfat, change it to vfat first and try it again.
