Factory Reset gone wrong! - General Questions and Answers

Hello guys. I have been using ADW Launcher for a long time. After I rooted my Android, I uninstalled the stock launcher cause I thought it was useless... I have been trying to find a way to install a custom ROM on my Android, and found a site where it said before I start, I should do a Factory Reset. I forgot that the FR would delete my ADW Launcher, I did it.
Now, whenever I boot my phone, I am stuck on a black screen instead of my ADW Launcher!
I can't buy a new phone at the moment, so I desperately need your help! I know it was stupid, but please, dont' judge... ;u ;
This is the phone I have: sonymobile.com/gb/products/phones/xperia-mini-pro/
Please help.

Go to google play on your computer and remote install adw to your phone from there

Insert your SIM and use data. If you don't have a SIM with 3G or 4G borrow a friends just for a small launcher download, or buy one with a pay as you use plan and only download a small launcher like FTL. From there you can remove the SIM and use FTL to navigate to the Play Store and download adw

Do you have the ROM you wanted to install loaded on to your SD card? What custom recovery are you running? For future reference when a developer recommends that you do a factory reset they are implying with in recovery, not from the settings menu.
I don't have your device but I would try Volume Down+Power button at the same time. Pull your battery first.

I have xRecovery Mini for Xperia Mini Pro, but for some reason, when I follow their steps to boot into recovery, nothing is happening... it's getting on my nerves! Thing is, I did everything they asked. It just doesn't work. I click Back endlessly when the Sony Ericsson logo appears, but nothing happens. It just acts as if I am not doing anything.
And yes, I do have the custom ROM on my SD card.

Do you have ADB working on your computer? You could always try that way. I'm not familiar with Sony devices, so the extent of my knowledge is slim. If all else fails use ADB.

Precise.

Sounds like your recovery may be bad. Were you ever successful in getting into recovery?
At this point get ADB set up and try pushing recovery again.
If that doesnt work you will need to some how get phone into download mode and flash a stock restore then reroot and try again.
Sorry can't be much help as I don't have the device and have never owned Sony. Not well here and Nyquil kicking in. Good luck.

I'm not sure how to set up on a Mac exactly.
It seems like from what I've dug into getting into recovery is a PITA. If you are 100% sure you are rooted and have xRecovery installed I'd try rebooting into recovery again and again, I just watched a video where the user had to try three times just to get into xrecovery. Button smash the heck out of the back button. It seems like it can't be done enough,
Was your factory reset successful at all, I.E. did you see any on screen prompts of it trying to wipe anything?
You will need to have installed the correct drivers on your Mac for it to recognize your phone, and ADB setup correctly. Check the XDA forums for your device for more guidance on that. You should be able to find your stock images there if all else fails to restore the phone completely.

When trying to upgrade to the sprint stock system update 2.31.651 my phone just goes off comes on and just sits the four hours on the htc white screen...What should I do?
1. Ask Sprint, because this is something to do with the "official" software release
2. Learn to read
3. Remember - this is not your helpdesk
4. Most important - Read (again) and post in the right forum

Try To Turn Off Your Phone, Pull The Battery Out, Put It Back In...
Then.... Power Your Phone
Back On....
"Holding The Volume-Down-Button"
Once On....
You Should See The "Hboot-Menu" Where You "SHOULD"?? Be Able To Use the "Volume-Up-Button"
To Select The "Fastboot-Menu"
Where You Can "TRY" To Perform A "Hard-Reset/Factory-Reset" By Pressing The "Menu-Button"!!
*NOTE*
Everything Will Be Erased,
Except For What On The SDCard!!
Hopefully This'll Work??
Good-Luck!!

Endless "bzz, bzz-bzz-bzz" Force close, unable to boot

Okay, I'm really worried. I was playing around with the root app Anim Mod, and installed custom animations. I had to reboot for them to take effect, although on reboot, I get the vibrate, pause, triple vibrate pattern over and over and a black screen after the sidekick and samsung boot screens. Is there any way I can restore the phone completely? I'm less worried about loosing things and more worried about the phone being completely screwed in this case. Any ideas?

[Q] Help! Messed Up! Need to reset!

So I'm a noob to all this rooting biz, but had done tons of jailbreaks so thought this would be similar. It's not!
I rooted my phone (Samsung Infuse) and was going to flash MIUI on it. It wouldn't work, so I gave up and went to the 'Download Roms' or whatever section in Clockworkmod and thought all of those would work for my phone.. So I tried downloaded Darky rom, and once it downloaded and flashed, the phone is now stuck on
'Galaxy S'
GT-19000
Samsung
When I take the battery out and go to do a reboot or hard reset, it shows the reg samsung logo for a second then glitches to that galaxy s **** and it doesn't work. I can't even get it into recovery mode!
I have a Mac and I don't know what to do. Please help me asap. I just got this phone 3 days ago. And if I can't fix this myself, will my insurance/30-day return still be valid or will this **** up my warrantee?
use this.

I believe that after it has done its thing, the phone should have rebooted into recovery mode and showing an option to delete all user data or factory reset. If not, try manually going into recovery mode:
1. Turn off phone.
2. Hold down both up and down volume keys and the power key.
3. Let go of the POWER key when you see the samsung logo pop up. (keep holding the volume keys until it boots into recovery)
4. Now go down to where it says delete all user data or maybe it says factory reset. Something along those lines. Let it do its thing and then
5. Reboot system.
After doing so, you will lose root and all of data. Re-root, add the custom recovery. And READ READ READ. The only roms you can flash from recovery mode is gtg's roms. So check out all roms in the development section here. Read the differences and flash away
I'm currently on miui and I'm loving it because it's very customizable. But battery life sucks on it.

Its because darkys rom is for i9000 and that is i9000 boot screen your looking at...do not try to flash anything for infuse off of rom manager...use infuse development thread.....you should be able to hold vol u vol down(at the same time) and power for about ten seconds and that will put you back into recovery....then if you are in green cwm go to mounts and storage...mount usb drive....and you can download a rom from our thread and put it on your sd card without having to reboot....wipe everything and flash rom that you downloaded...if you have red cwm...go to apply update zip..choose it...and flash it...now u have green recovery...hope that helped..

My Verizon Galaxy S3 had been stuck at the Verizon boot screen. Booted into recovery mode, reset the data, restarted, and, after about 10 seconds of hanging it went ahead and booted. Thanks!
I should follow up.
I did the same finally. reset my data despite my fear. My SD card data was left unharmed so i was able to use the rom on there to load and it worked like a charm.
Again my apps were removed and system settings were all gone but that is what it takes to load the ROM.
On a separate note i went from ICS to CM 10.0, i am running the Apex Launcher and i cant express how much i like it better than the stock ROM. there are a few things that hang and crash but for the most part it is worth the improvements.

[Q] Bricked??

i recently tried to install jellybean but the rom did not work on nexus s, i stupidly removed the only working rom from my 'sd' card and now my phone only boots into a black screen, i have tried to put a known working rom on my phone but every pc i try to connect my phone to says the device has malfunctioned and windows cannot install software. i have tried to use adb but that also cannot find my device. am i looking at getting another nexus with a broken screen and using my working screen to gain a decent phone back or am i missing a vital programme that will fix my utter cockup? thanks in advance
Are you familiar with adb? Because unless you have the right drivers, you phone won't be recognized. Also, usually your computer won't notify you when you're connected and able to use adb, you have to start the interaction through cmd.exe. this being said, try adb again to move a rom or backup into your device.
Also, can you boot into fastboot? If so, is there a warning message or anything?

i am only famililar with adb to the point of rooting, i have tried to download the drivers but only can see .dll files in the driver folders no option to install said drivers. i can get into power and vol up if that is fastboot?? the problem been is i installed a rom which was meant for the nexus s and i didnt read all comments and later found out it does not work with the nexus. i now cannot access the sd storage to put a working rom onto it . when i open cmd and type adb shell it says device not found. brains ready to explode right now. any help on adb is greatly appriciated
Fast boot is when you phone is off, you turn it on by pressing volume up+power at the same time. Let me know if there is a warning text in red at the top.
Do you know how to flash factory images? Because you may be able to do that to get a stock os on your phone. It would wipe everything, however. Flashing a factory image doesn't require you to open SD storage. I'd link you to the thread with the tutorial, but I'm on mobile :/ ill post it if i get a chance, i know its floating around in the nexus s android forums

my laptop does not recognise the phone so i dont know how to flash a factory image. this is the cmd sequence i get
adb shell
error device not found
tried mounting sd card and data but no joy
also tried mounting usb storage.
all i get is device has malfunctioned and will not run
tried downloading google usb drivers and samsung drivers all to no avail.
fingers crossed you can tell me something i dont know as i really cant afford to buy a new phone
Well it seems you sdcard isn't dead, which is good! When mine was, fastboot gave me an error.
Now IMO, you should be able to flash a stock recovery image. This will clear everything you have on ur phone, but it should get it back to working condition.
Ill post a tutorial on how to do it tomorrow, that's the soonest i can get on a computer. It is not that hard, and it helps when you're already somewhat familiar with adb. I used to be a noob too, now I'm slightly less noobish!
So as i said, i think i have a solution, ill post how tomorrow, when i have a PC (in on mobile right now).

Alright, so this is the guide to install a factory image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572307
What a factory image will do, is restore your phone completely to a new like state. That being said, you will lose anything you have on the phone (picture, music, etc..). I don't know of any other way to help, so if you're willing to lose everything, but get your phone working, continue reading.
-First, you have to determine what model on Nexus S you have. If you're on AT&T or Rogers, you have an I9020A, and you have to download the "sojua" factory image. If you're on T-mobile, or have the version with an S-LCD display (as opposed to the normal AMOLED), you have to flash the "soju" factory image. If you're not sure what version you have, let me know what carrier you're with.
-Second, download the Factory image corresponding to your phone from the link I posted, as for version, that's up to you, but I recommend 4.1.2 (JB).
-Third, Make sure you have all the right drivers, and the android-sdk installed. You should already have this, since you've use adb before.
-Fourth, follow steps 1,2,3 and 4A in the link I posted above.
Follow these instruction, and if you do not understand them before doing the procedure, just ask a question here! good luck!

Damn, if only you could get it recognized you'd probably be able to flash custom recovery through fastboot and I guess you'd be able to install from sd without data loss.
