will it work on stock rom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427307 From what I understand, it will work on stock rom, but it's kind'a, well not so straight forward installing it. Another thing is, if you want to play with overclock only, you should try Ateeq's rom with cranium kernel(the 1307Mhz) but that's just for experiments, cos battery dies, very fast.
Using those kernel.. do not overclock too much.. it could hard brick your phone!!!
I'm using yannou's for a 2-3 months (that's 800Mhz) and nothing is wrong yet, (joke)About the cranium, don't worry, the phone cant get hot enough to burn something, cos battery will be depleted first(joke). No, seriously dudes, you should keep in mind that, the 1307Mhz is more than double from our cpu's, so if the display gets hot, stop doing whatever you are doing, and give the phone a rest.

You can use his kernel without installing the rom. Take the boot.img from his rom package and flash it.
Actually jaggy uses yannou's kernel, but only kernel extracted from jaggy wont do the trick, I have no idea why, but when i tried to do that, it gave me bootloop(tried 3 times, so not random case)

Bootloop happens when there is problem in rom. If there would have been a problem in kernel then it would have stuck at the boot logo. I am from samsung forum but these errors are common for all phones. Try the kernel on stock

Before it fries your phone.. it will corrupt processor data since Pcb, Bus, Ram speed wont support cpu speed/ data rate. So it will brick.. only choice will be to replace the board or get JTAG.
I advice everyone.. if you get random reboots after Overclocking.. do reduce the oc value!!

I added kernel tweaks from raspdeep's I9000 OC and got our bali kernel to OC, I'm running at 1.2 Ghz right now. I haven't tested this in terms of battery life, but there's a good chance your battery life may be less. So use with caution.
This 1.2 Ghz OC feels smoother and faster than stock, and better and more stable than 1.28Ghz. If you tried the 1.28 and gave up, try this 1.2, it's much better. I removed the link to the 1.28Ghz kernel because it was causing too many problems for everyone, and actually being slower due to freezing and overheating.
Battery life and stability not guaranteed
Use setcpu to control your cpu speed.
Credits to Dr. Honk for bali original, and raspdeep for OC source.
THIS IS FOR KG2 ONLY!
I have flashed this both on stock and on a custom KG2 rom, they both worked.
link removed because it was unstable - 1.28Ghz
Updated 1.2 KERNEL: http://www.multiupload.com/3QPMQY476F
3:55PM 8/3/2011
I provide no guarantees that this will work, make a backup before you try this!
This was really only made for all the kids who kept asking for an OC kernel.
It has been suggested that the 1.2Ghz kernel may be more stable, so I would suggest trying that one instead of the 1.28Ghz kernel
Flashing right now . You beat me too it ;p

You need to flash a kernel that supports overclocking. Check over in the development section for one that's compatible with your rom.

After you flashed the new kernel you have to use something like SetCPU (from the market) to set the processor speed higher. You can set it up to the maximum speed allowed by the kernel you flashed. Just be careful about running it at max speed for too long. This phone is plenty fast at 1GHz so no need to set it too high and risk damaging your phone.

The best way would be to make a backup first, then follow the steps to flash the new kernel.. That way if you don't like it or if you have a problem you can always reboot into recovery and restore that backup..
Side note: its always a good idea when flashing anything to your phone to have a back up plan. Like what you will do if something has a problem or you don't like it.. Backup, backup, backup..
Good luck hope this helps

I tried this but it didn't seem to work. I saw the new kernel version in settings, and in SetCPU it showed 1100 as the speed, but when I went to adjust the slider it maxed out at 1000, not 1500. Did I do something wrong?
When in set cpu ; settings; detect new frequencies. Then try it.

Edit: nevermind, I needed to autodetect after installing kernel. Thank you so much.
So i just installed cm9, and my phone can only go to 1188mhz so how do i over clock because i know the sensation can go to 1.6
Install system tuner and try to raise the value. If not, install a kernel compatible with cm9 and u should be good.
On some of the early nightlies I was able to use faux123's 005b3 asop kernel and overclocked to 1.78. I only used it on a couple of the early nightlies. I tried flashing it a few days ago and got bootloops. I think that was on nightly 01, maybe 30.
Stock kernel works fine for me. Overclock will probably be available sometime down the road. Someone on cm9 dev thread is running faux's kernel now, apparently without problems. I guess YMMV, or maybe that should be MMMV.
Isn't there a kernel less than 1.78 like 1.67 or something. A 1.6 kernel should be ok and u don't need to turn it up to max.

For CM9, faux is the only one that maybe works as far as I know. There is a mod over in the dev forum that overclocks to 1.5, I think. Haven't tried it, so I can't verify.
cm9 was great, but it wasn't stable yet and couldn't be over clocked
so i tried aokp that wasn't as good the screen looked too small and spaced out, but yo ucould over clock. And unfortunately without me knowing my phone was backing up my apps, ON MY DATA, so i owe virgin about 200$ now =_= for using 70$
In the end i went back to arhd, do yo uguy have any recommendation.
Use faux kernel 005b3 it will over clock it to 1.728.and it is stable and will run great.I have been running it for 5 days no problem.

First make double sure the kernel is compatible with your rom and operating system and firmware . Then wipe cash.and dalvik cash, then flash like a rom. By downloading the Kernel to the root of your SD card and flash through recovery. I like 4 ext recovery. After wiping you install from SD card then reboot. Hope this helps.
Of course do the download first, then wipe, then flash

I have search in this forum and googling it about my problem [ not big problem actually ], but not yet found proper thread or answer.
After flashing ROM version V5.2 and try to boot from recovery, i got my button key now blinking while booting.
But after booting complete is normal.
Currently use V5.2 with baseband 18A, and it works normal in my O3D device.
Button is also working normal, except search and back button is mixed function.
Do you guys ever has similar blinking led? is it absolutelly normal,
or just i have not yet found some issues in my device...
thank you for any feedback ( if there is any link for fixing search/back button improvement, it'll be better )..
mine is blinking too while booting, think it is normal.
if you want normal buttons, you should install a kernel with 4 button support. then back and search isn't switched.
blinking = normal

No it wont really harm your phone but it will drain more battery.
And its not really smart to keep the min @1,3ghz.. make it min 300mhz and max 1,3ghz iodak made his kernel so, that it raise to max freq. every time you touch the display, so theres no need to make min freq 1,3ghz.

hi bensmokie , TMProduct1onZ..
as in my 1st post, i've xbsall ICS now..
and read many post for fixing 4-keys (changing kernel )..
by yesterday, i found this tools... here
my question is :
1. can i use it directly to flash kernel to fix 4 keys? the kernel is based on iodak's kernel.
2. i've read iodaks kernel zipped format. but it should need to install wkpark bootloader
3. i can boot into recovery mode, could i install iodak zipped kernel directly from recovery mode, without doing #2 step?
thanks..
I ran a stability test on my phone and it only lasted for a minute and a half, it had ran both the cpu's fully once for each core and all the ram 23 times.
Im using a stable version of the CM10 4.2.2 rom with the sultan kernal. Ive tried many roms before so changing wont help also it isnt a battery fault as i purchased a new one and still the same problem.
Is there a way that i can make this better? i heard undervolting it can help
Any help is greatly appriciated
