I'm using ICE_DS v4.4 right now and I don't like the mods that have been applied in the music player. The ROM has a Sensation base so I was wondering if the Desire S 3.6 RUU's HTC Music apk could be extracted or whether the Sensation's 3.6 RUU HTC Music apk can be extracted and ported so I can install it in this ROM. I'm not a developer so I don't really know how to extract apps from RUUs and porting, that's why I'm requesting for it. Please help me.
EDIT: Just found out that it uses the Incredible S's base, not the Sensation's.
Ice DS' Music App is exactly the same of Desire S' leaked ICS ota. Not maybe by code, but by GUI. Afaik, Ice DS uses the Incredible S' rom as base. Not Sensation.

It isn't. He's added the Dolby Surround Sound and Beats Audio mod combinations which come with an SRS enhancement that has pronounced bass. The previous versions of ICE_DS didn't have the pronounced bass; it was only after the Beats Audio mod was added did I notice it. I'd rather try installing the stock music app just to check and be sure, but I don't know how to pull apps from ROMs or RUUs.
It is. Beats is just a patched afaik and you can delete the patch files manually to revert back to stock.

He's probably installed another MOD along with the Beats patch then. If you compare the files in the "soundimage" folder in system/etc then you'll see the difference in the SRS files too. Anyway, any possibility of making a flashable mod for the original 3.6 music app?
Using Fallout Evolution. Music widget doesn't work the way it used to. No animation on lock screen.
You can still play,pausa,skip tracks but no effects

Personally, I don't really like DSP Mngr. I have uninstalled it and replaced it with Volume+.

The beats audio feature is integrated with the stock HTC Music player, and works only with that particular Music app.
The Music app in turn is dependent on the HTC framework to work which runs only on HTC devices, and is not open source like the rest of Android or CM to be precise. This is why it does not work on anything except a Sense ROM.
I hope that clarifies your doubts.
Beats really isn't all its raved to be, its basically a reduction on bass but an increase on treble etc there more to it then that, but if you use a combination of bass reduction on dsp manager, and use something like flat equilliser on poweramp it comes close to beats.

Browsing the Galaxy Nexus forums for some ideas for tweaking my ICS-Powered Sensation and came across something which may help people decide whether to stick with the HTC Camera or to use the ICS AOSP Camera in the current ICS Senseless builds.
Simply called Camera ICS, it also has a Pro version.
I've tried the free version and it seems to offer as many options as the HTC stock camera.

For those who don't like the beats working in their device instead of DSP Manager then you can flash the file below.
Warning you will lose beats, and the following libs will no longer function ##libbeatbas.so, ###libsrsfx.so
Note: It does not matter what kernel you use eg. bricked or anthrax as the file related only to the ROM
WHATS WORKING:
Dynamic Range compression
EXTREME BASS Settings - prepare to be blown away
Equalizer
Virtual ROOM
Requirements:
0. SENSE 4 ROM and AOSP ROMS, SENSE3.6(theres workaround just keep reading below)
1. Google Play Music - included in zips - Comptable in the HTC lockscreen player
2. DSP Manager - included in zips
3. Musicfx comes in goole music - remove this as it will override settings in DSP
4. High end Headphones with deep bass - Frequency response 6-22k khz or must be closer range fail to do so will have a worse effect ordinary headphones cannot handle extreme bass. eg sennheiser mxl60 works better in audio beats.
Now try with your originale beats headphones comes in the package and you will feel the difference.
NO EFFECT ON SENSE4 Music player
NOT COMPATIBLE ON SENSE 3.6
the audio_effects.conf will f### up the ext.jar, widget.jar, then you will wrestle with FC on HTC music, and HTC video otherwise you dont need them then you can use this, try AOSP player with shinzlon theme and remove them instead
TRICKING THE BEATS notification to appear while playing google music
played the htc music player until the beats notification appeared then closed it
and played google player then the beats notification still remains

Yes it will work but the rest of lib like beats and srs will not work it will exclusively activate only libcyonogen.so. also i will doubt the revert to beats will be similar to that ROM just back up your audio_effects.conf in system/etc/audio_effects.conf if anything goes wrong
Can both beats and eq work together??? I think I am using them both in my old HTC desire...

Pretty much every none of the stock widgets will run on AOSP roms. HTC widgets require Sense framework to run. Many look alikes exist in the Play store. Search and figure out which works for you.
There are "Sense-less" roms that still have the framework, but are stripped down to look like AOSP. Flash a few and figure out what you like

Pretty much what jimmah said, IMO it's the only thing that I think would bind people to sense, other than some of the other superior apps like the camera..

I have been wondering the same thing for a few weeks now as well.. hope someone has an answer... I'm on pkmn and the only draw back is the camera.

No. This is probably the 10th thread making this suggestion.
To be honest, it is a very tedious task that will require recoding of the Camera app.
I doubt that anyone would put in all that time.

In short, I actually think the Sense 4 camera is on par now in terms of image quality with the Sense 3.6 camera now that the Sense 4 roms are on the newest Ville base. In my post above you can grab a media profiles file (its not a flashable zip) that helps with image compression and a tip on an app I use to help with noise related issues with indoor pics and low light shots.
