[Q] Audio Jack Output Power? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know how many mW is NS's audio jack maximum output? thanks~

[Q] How do I get audio from aux jack while using hdmi out on HTC evo?

Not sure if there is a decently priced solution to my problem or not but hopefully will soon find out. The problem is that I have an inFocus projector that has hdmi input with no audio outputs on it. Stupid, I know. So I have a rooted Evo and would like to be able to send video to the projector using the micro HDMI cable while still sending the audio to my Yamaha receiver. The thing is that when I plug in the HDMI cable, the audio coming out of the 3.5mm jack shuts off. I think that there are ways to split the audio from the HDMI output but those are most likely expensive. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is if there is any work around method that allows me to keep audio coming out of the aux jack while I have my HDMI cable shooting video to my projector.

Headphone Jack - Maximum output load (in watt)?

Does anyone know, what the maximum load on the Headphones Jack is? Without blowing the AMP.
Thanks in Advance,

Anyone know what the speaker should be? 4ohm? 8ohm? watt? anything?

6mW According to the all in one chip specs, I'm not sure if there's an interposing amplifier. The chip has a separate speaker driver that is 2W for the rear unit.
In short, speakers are not recommended. I tried attaching a set of small laptop speakers to the headphone socket and at full volume it was distorted and very quiet.
I would expect that the only way to provide speaker level output would be to hook the jack to an external amplifier. This clearly works fine, as you can run an audio/video output from this jack to an external TV. Amplified laptop speakers, or one of the mp3 dock type things would be fine.
You are unlikely to damage anything internally by just connecting speakers, as despite the very much lower impedance than headphones, there is so little power being dissipated, I would expect the internal amplifier to not have any problems.
It matters not what the 'wattage' rating of the speakers you chose to connect is, as this is just a measure of the level of output the speaker can handle from an amplifier Despite the common misconception that more 'watts' marked on your speakers means more volume, this is NOT the case.

[Q] Power output?

Anyone know what the power output is for the headphone\mic 2-in-1 jack?
I plan on using some headphones that are rated @ 1mW and 32ohm

[Q] Best way to get line-level audio output from RAZR HD?

Everyone,
I have the RAZR HD from FIDO (XT925) running the stock ROM (4.1.2). Occasionally I would like to connect my phone to my home stereo (via AUX input) to listen to music files that are e-mailed to me, or to streaming audio services. I would rather not do this via Bluetooth.
Is there a convenient way to get a line-level audio output from the RAZR HD? If so, what kind of cable do I need?
Alternatively, I have a cheap but good-sounding USB DAC (Behringer UCA202) -- any chance this could be connected to the RAZR HD via USB to get a line-level output?
Thanks in advance.
Hey,
I might be being a bit stupid here, but why can't you just use the headphone port? I assume this is not good enough quality for you or something?
Cheers,
Su

The headphone port is OK but requires the volume on both the phone and the stereo amplifier to be turned way up, which is inconvenient and leads to a lot of noise. I believe this is because the headphone port is designed for headphone impedance, which is lower than the impedance of a line input.
Ok, gotcha - same problem with the HDMI output? That could work even better, as you could wire it straight into an A/V receiver, right?

Improve headphone jack?

Hi!
I find that the original port jack delivers a sound of poor quality. The power of output is very low.
My question is: Do you think that using the USB type C port with an adaptator could improve the sound quality in my headphones?
Thank you
Buy a external dac or LG product
Did you try the v4a module in magisk with the profile given in this section of xda?
I was wondering if using an extarnal DAC (adaptator usb C to jack) could improve the quality
What is V4a module? is it necessary to be rooted?

Yea, magisk/root is needed for the viper4android module to get the sound tweaks. I dont know what type of headset you got but it its bluetooth then make sure its APT X supported to get the best sound out of the non rooted phone.
These usb c to 3.5 with biuld in DAC are nice but you need to have a premium headset to enjoy from those.... these adapters are like 15 bucks and can do 16 and 24bit output.

Thank you!
I really want to improve the quality on the headphone jack.
Do you think that if I use an adaptator on the usb C port it will work?

yup ofcourse it will and it will be the same as the pixel 2 dongle. Just make sure you buy the correct one with a high res DAC in the cable and not these 2 dollar cheap one's that only convert digital to analog.

You will need a dongle that has a decent amplifier in order to get louder sound than stock without crazy distortion. Decent amplifiers are not cheap. Finding a dongle with a good dac/amp combo is probably the best way to accomplish this
Stick in something into the headphone jack, go to settings, audio and vibration, audio tuner
Play around till it fits your taste.
