I have a ASUS Prime that I am going to try to exchange at BB due to defective GPS. I was wondering does the Infinity have the GPS Status app on it? If so when you are indoors how fast can this App lock on Satellites and give you your Location?
Thanks

That is not a stock app, but it is free in the market. I get an indoor lock in 20-30 seconds most times.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if I had downloaded that App on my Prime or it came as Stock. I wanted to show the BB people that there is indeed a Big Problem with GPS on Prime and this App does that.
I am having GPS lock issues. I only see 6 sats on my Infinity, and lock sometimes never happens.
My Samsung SG2 skyrocket sees 20 sats and lock in like 10 seconds....any input?

Only input I have is that I can report that my Razr Maxx usually sees more sats than the tablet sitting right next to it, but I only have lock issues when I am in the office (it is a shielded office, so nuttin works here)

Yep I can confirm this, fastest lock I've ever had from ANY gps device and the ONLY one I've ever used that gets a lock INSIDE my house! VERY impressed with the gps in this phone.

yes, but in italy (my location) the fix are imprecise, the position on the map its wrong about 20 miles, with this patch the precision of your position is better, try it!

Well the first connection to gps satellites takes time (4-5 minutes for me) after that it gets a lot better. I cannot say I got lock in 10 seconds indoor but about 30 outdoors is my average. You also can try GPS Status to reset and download AGPS data...
I thanked you because I accidentally missed the quote button, any way to unthanks?
I have downloaded but it didn't help at all

Well try disabling screen timeout and then waiting for signal for about 10 minutes with screen on, if that doesnt work than rooting is a must
Sometimes its the app that's the problem. Try running GPS status and tools app first that will get a fix faster than a sat nav app.

It's like they changed all the low level code that deals with the actual signal.
There doesn't appear to be any filtering or averaging going on anymore, which is causing my readout to bounce around by 15meters or so all the time. It didn't used to do this on older maps versions.
When I'm sitting at stoplights it says...turn left...continue straight...turn right...turn right...in 500 feet, turn make a U-turn...
It does this as my location constantly changes.
Does anyone else experience this? What to do about it?
Revert to an older version.
Nope, I surely don't have the same issues as you.

thanks guys. have high accuracy mode on. Running custom ROM (Paranoid) and Kernel. Is anyone else doing same as me?
Maybe i have the same problem when change direction, forma example turn right or turn left is slow. Anyway i will upload a video ti understand.
With androits can you share your GPS lock?
This is mine outdoor.... For me is very poor my signal but i dont know if There are a device that can get more SNR and more satellities.

Mine is been the same before the the new maps. It's never been great, but good enough. What annoys me the most is that EVERYtime I open navigation I get a message saying that i can improve accuracy if I enable wifi and then have to choose ignore or settings... Used to only do this once.

navigation is exact like me?
is normal? or i can get rma?
So I have it setup and have my house as a trusted location but it keeps asking for my pattern. Anyone else having the same issue?

It woks most of the time in my home, but not all the time...
Make sure you don't have any apps setup to turn the screen off, IE I used to have tasker setup to turn screen off when i set it on wireless charger, but was actually locking the device each time. I've heard others mention the same thing with other apps. So Rule that out first. Otherwise it is not 100% unfortunately.

Also something wise I just found out while experimenting is that of you are device only for gps it never works either.
Basically it is face unlock. Wait for a few seconds and you should see the lock become unlocked at the bottom

I use high accuracy....yes I waited like 30 seconds and nothing......oh well I am putting it to 30 minutes because I hate using a lock to be honest. I moved to Medellin from the states and girls whatsapp me every 5 seconds. I don't have time to unlocked that much lol

Its face unlock that sucks. Face unlock on KK you just point the device and if its good, it goes straight to your home screen. No swipes, no hands.
This version always takes a swipe even if successful and as you can see yourself, you cant direct the camera.
Talk about fixing something that isnt broken google! :crying::crying::crying:
It depends on your usage. On KK, when glancing on my phone when changing the music track with lock screen controls often unlocked my phone accidentally, so I needed to lock again. Now on Lolipop, I can change tracks without worrying to unlock.

Yes, if you are listening to music all of the time when using your phone I take your point.
I'm not against what they have done in Lollipop, I'm against the lack of choice.
Who else got gps issues with this device? When location is set to gps only and data turned off, gps doesn't work. In my previous devices it would work no problem.

You certainly have hardware problem... Try the GPS tester on play store (location on GPS only) and if it can't find the signal, you have hardware problem

I spent all day figuring out this problem. When in "GPS ONLY" mode, I can't connect to GPS. After trying various forum suggestions, this one worked for me. I downloaded the app called GPS Status & Toolbar in the Google Play Store. It launches every time I open Google Maps and can now lock me onto the GPS Satellites. From my tests, I was able to lock onto GPS in 25 seconds when standing by the window at the office, 50 seconds from my office desk, and I'd imagine faster when outdoors. Hope this helps.

No problem. Glad it worked out for you. Was a strange issue to me because my previous phone, Nexus 4, had no such problem.

what have you tried so far to fix it?
I would recommend a GPS calibration app, can't recommend any though. also making sure your the setting set to GPS, WiFi and Moible Network. That's gonna give you the best accuracy
