International Carrier/ROM IDK....???? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hey XDA Community, I am getting married next year (June) and my honey and I are thinking about going to Ireland. My Infuse is currently rooted and I "THINK" the sim is unlocked. Is there a ROM I can Flash that is stable or semi Stable and be able to make International call home?
It seems there's a handful of cell phone carries in the Ireland: Vodaphone Meteor Three O2 Tesco 48Months
I know I Could Simply add international to my at&t account or just buy calling cards. My plan was to flash an International ROM before we leave or once we get there and pop in a pre-pay sim card and i'm good to go....
Thanks in advance for any information on this topic....

If u are on stock or any custom rom u will be able to use ur phone on any international GSM providers the only thing u will have to look is ur phone should be sim unlocked for other sim cards. U can check the status by typing *#7465625#.

The main thing is that it's unlocked. Once you get there, buy a SIM card from wherever (I've bought mine from Tesco while in Britain), pop it in your phone, set it up and you should be more or less good to go. Most of them have an international calling option. I can't remember the details of the deal I got, but basically it cost £11 for the SIM and basic pay-as-you-go plan. The plan includes, calls, mms, sms, and data - Oh! One little trick they pull (Tesco anyway): make sure you sign up for calls, data, sms etc. on their website. If you just use your £10, it'll be gone in a flash. If you sign up, you'll have plenty to go on... I used Skype to call home, btw.
A couple of warnings though: you'll probably have to manually enter the correct mms/sms info. For reasons I do not understand, I had all kinds of problems with the connection. I would completely lose the signal (like when I was out in the countryside or on the tube) and was not able to get it back without rebooting the phone. Maybe I've got a borked phone - it works fine in the States, but it was a PITA while travelling. I found that the kernel made a little difference too. Entropy's 3/4 kernel did not work well, the InfusionB (1400 OC) was better. For all of this, I was using Dman's Deodexed, zipaligned, rooted, etc. stock Gingerbread.

I just unlocked my infuse by modifying the nv_data.bin file. I was going to write up new instructions. As the one in development thread is old and doesn't work with cm9/10. However I am unsure if it is a one size fits all. I would need a few people to test it.
Edit: the other method might work for cm/10. I just didn't go that route

Great now ur phone is a free bird can go anywhere
The infuse unlock tool works only on Froyo will not work on version after froyo, Have used it many times, For user who want to unlock and are on GB and higher should use the other method.

Thanks for the info on Tesco, I'll check more into them and the other carriers.

Ask att if they will unlock the phone. If not you can use one of the paid sites if your not comfortable finding your own unlock code. I think I paid 15 bucks for my unlock code online. Threw a T-Mobile sim in it, punched in the code. Phone said it was unlocked. Finished out my last few days on att then moved to Germany. I've been running o2 ever since. I have been on Zeus, emann, uniporn, and cm10. I am probably forgetting a few. As for international calling, just load up some money onto a Skype account and call with that. Or if the people you are calling have smart phones have them download viber. I use viber to call friends in the States all the time. Its free. Also for texting I use whatsapp and kick messenger. I don't remember the last time I used the actual phone and messenging app on this phone. Everyone I talk to has smart phones.

Tesco is on O2 in Britain, I believe it's the same for Ireland too. When I was trying to work out the MMS problem, I stumbled across the Tesco Ireland site. It seemed to be much more useful than the site for GB! Figures. Definitely check their coverage and, if possible, ask people there what they prefer. I was in a dead(ish) zone for nearly a week! 2G, choppy calls, and no MMS. Luckily the man next door had just painted his wall and allowed me to watch it dry while my phone loaded Google News.

Any new info on switching back and forth between LTE phones and Standard 3G phones?

Given the TBolt has the sim card, it seems it would be a little crazy to switch back and forth (if not impossible). This issue was touched a while ago, but is there an easier way yet? I guess anytime you wanted to switch back to the tBolt you needed to get a new SIM card. Is this still the case? Or can you use the website to switch back and forth between phones.
Reason I am asking is that I would like to use the iPhone during my work day since all of our machines are Apple based... and tBolt any other time. It just doesn't seem possible unless something changed?
I was also wondering how this would work. I have several phones and, until recently when I got my Tbolt, would switch between them quite often. Now with my first 4G phone, I wasn't sure that would work. From your post, it sounds like I could go online and switch from my Bolt to one of my 3g devices as I always have, but going back to the 4g Bolt might be a problem? I don't have 4g in my area, but I really am liking my bolt and don't feel the itch to switch devices yet, but I would like to be able to have the option.
Why not just call VZW and ask ?
That would be the easy way to answer your question.

They give different answers each time you call! Depends who you talk to.
if it helps, sim cards are sim cards and the one in the tb (though it works in a slightly different way than what would be normal for a sim) is the same as any other sim card. However, if you switch to activating a 3g phone without a sim card, they will deactivate your tb sim card for sure. They may even if you don't, just because they're verizon and are slightly clueless on how sim cards work still.

Can you ever switch phones online without calling Verizon. I have never been able to do it other than when setting up maybe a new phone but never switching back to an old one. Good luck though it would be nice to be able to freely switch. I have a DInc and OG Droid just sitting here

Switching from 4g to 3g phones you have to call in each time
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I have tried switching from 3g phone to 4g phone and it is a pain. You need to call or go into the store and get a new sim card each time. The minute you place a 3g device on your 4g account the sim card is deactivated.
I switch back and forth now because i talked the store manager into giving me a few sim cards. You can also call every other day and have the customer service send you a new one. They are free but some stores will try to charge you.
Once you have the sim card all you need to do is turn off the 3g phone, place the new sim card in and it should activate itself.
Wow thats pretty sad that its this difficult.
I had tried this once and it brought up a question that I did not have the guts to answer myself. If you went back to 3g for a short while then afterwards reactivated on 4g would you loose the grandfathered unlimited data?

Just talked to a VZW rep on the phone, who I'm assuming went to talk to a supervisor or a tech, and she said as long as I keep the sim card in a place where the gold contacts don't get harmed (like in the phone), then I can keep the same sim card between activations, I just have to either call in to switch back to the TB or activate it online.. She talked to someone about this after I asked if I could have a few sent to me, so I'm assuming whomever told her this at least had some knowledge on the situation, but I guess we'll find out when it's time to switch back

the verizon rep that told you you can keep the sim card between activations is wrong. The sim card for verizon doesnt store any data its just basically a key to there 4g service. They can only be used for one activation and once they are deactivated they are dead. The only way to switch back and forth would be to have a surplus of sim cards. You would still have to call in and have them activate the new sim card before using it.
Ii have done this a few times on my thunderbolt so I know from experience.
Not sure on that having multiple SIM cards is right. I have switched between my DX and Tbolt numerous times and never gotten a new sim card. I do have to call every time when reactivating the bolt though.

I can't see how this would work since LTE and gsm cards aren't compatible. If you could do that, you could drop it in most of the decent BlackBerrys and run... But ya can't. Anyone telling you that you can isn't at all familiar with the specs.
What a pain in the butt.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
just my experience...
Using the My Account web site, I can...
Change between multiple 3G phones, no problems.
Change from 4G/LTE phone to 3G phone, no problems other than... the Web site warns the LTE SIM will be disabled after 90 days of non-use, implying that you could re-use it for up to 90 days, BUT the SIM gets deactivated immediately.
If I try to change from 3G phone to 4G/LTE phone, no problems IF I have a NEW SIM card. If I try to re-use my SIM it fails and I need to call in. When I call in, its hit or miss if they can enter that same SIM back into the System (customer service can't, but tech support has done it) or make me get a new SIM.
I haven't tried switching in about 3 weeks. So I don't know if anything has changed since.
Also, I find it best to complete the equipment change before 11pm eastern, otherwise the device change could get hung up in VZW's switch/system and not complete/clear until the morning.

At this time, it is still necessry to relace the SIM card if changing from a 4G device to a 3G device. So, if you were to change devices each day, you would need a new SIM card each time. Please check out our forums for updates at our website. Go to the website for Verizon Wireless, click Contact Us, then Customer Forums. You can also sign up for email updates from this site.

[Q] How to use D2G on AT&T

Hello all,
I'm planning on picking up a D2G locally to use on AT&T. So let me get this straight:
1) Buy D2G locally.
2) Flash with 2.4.29 SBF using RSD Lite.
3) I would need to unlock the phone. Can I do this without having an active Verizon account to activate the phone? I realize I can get the code from various resellers but would the phone need to be active on Verizon's network or just previously activated on Verizon's network?
4) Apply the edit cellzealot specified here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16572174&postcount=22
At this point I should be able to use it on AT&T.
5) From what I read I should be able to install and use non-Moto ROMs.
My biggest questions are with steps 3 and 5. Could anyone clarify those steps for me? Is there anything else I should know? Any fixes for the reception issues?
Thanks!
Hi
This is what i have just got done with my D2G and it work great on att . I got 3.6 mb down and 1.8 mb up in NYC . On your step 4 you shoud do this its much easier : w w.mydroidworld.com/forums/android-hacks/8942-tbh-us-gsm-band-unlock-droid-2-global-pro-update-zip-public-release.html#post98026
Good luck !
Thanks, warlord002! I read a post mentioning that update.zip but didn't really look into it. Using the update.zip makes this whole thing a ton easier.
Any recommended ROMs?

If you're lucky, and the purchased code works, you just input it and that's all.
Sweet, thanks for the help guys.
The phone isn't for me so I'll need a stable, functional ROM. I mean stock's always an option, but if there are better ROMs out there that are just as functional I'd rather use one of those. Suggestions?
Can you please explain step two for someone that is new at cdma phone hacking.
Picking up a D2G tomorrow morning. Are there any updates regarding gingerbread and the old radio? Any GB based ROMs out?
Also any websites that can give me the correct unlock code? Seems like its hit or miss for the most part and only Verizon has them forsure. I guess I'll have to do some social engineering and get that code from them somehow.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Well, JFYI: if you're on AT&T, you aren't getting Gingerbread.
Otherwise, Gingerbread update was called off and will be released later (“soon™”).
There is the update.zip from that OTA update, which can be installed.
There are some ROMs in development, but not production ready yet (at least on GSM).
Have fun with your social engineering, mostly because VZW wants you to be on a contract for at least 6 months to get the code.
Yeah I guess I'll stick with Froyo for the timebeing.
The social engineering is failing pretty hard. Tried at least 10 reps through different numbers and they all tell me the phone needs to be active on a line. My best bet now is to add some cash to the deal and ask the seller (vzw customer) to have it unlocked for me.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Many reps are telling me they can't even generate the code if the phone isnt active on their network. How true that is I don't know...

Picked up a D2G a few hours ago. The seller was nice enough to get the unlock code for me from Verizon!
SBFed to .29, rooted, bootstrapped, radio patched, and flashed to hexen all in an hour or so. No issues whatsoever. The D2G's running great on AT&T so far!
Glad to see a few more folks using this hack. It works well despite a few bugs in the original release build.
i got my D2G this morning, and soon ordered unlock code from ebay.
the seller get me the code IMMIDIATELY, and it works!
and the TBH's band hack helps me a lot. i'm now using t-mobile happily
Pls guys help me! I've just bought MY D2G from ebay, seller send my unlock code from verizon, I put it.. but when I inserted my new t-mobile sim, phone couldn't see any GSM network.. i flashed it already to 2.4.29, so what should I do next?
PLS help me, i really like this phone and dont wanna change it to another..

Check here - one more thing to do before you can get T-Mobile on your D2G. Remember you will not be able to get 3G - only GSM, but it will work nicely (and battery life will be great). Don't forget to set the phone to GSM only in the settings - so it doesn't waste power to look for a 3G compatible network all the time.
Apparently you can rip out the radio firmware from TBH's 4.5.606 and still install it via CWM; it works with 2.4.330's baseband.
The question is whether it's possible to make a 2.4.330 update that also doesn't touch the radio firmware, so you could flash 2.4.29 SBF, update to 2.4.330 and then 4.5.606 without touching the baseband, and thus gain Gingerbread with AT&T.
Going through the exact same process! But I can't unlock my phone, I bought it on ebay, the seller said it was unlocked but its not. I tried two of the unlock sim sites with no luck -$20 and two non functioning codes .. Is there anyway to unlock my phone?
Only via Verizon.
you are supposed to be given 2 codes..just in case one of them doesnt work. i got my code form the unlock shack and no problems

NO SERvICE?

wondering if i can get any help around here. One day my sidekick suddenly stopped working. Meaning no signal or service of any. I can log onto wifi and still use the internet but i cant make text messages, calls, ect. I rooted it and flashed Glorious Overdose, but the problem is still there. I'm with tmobile and idk why this doesnt work. It reads the SIM card. because when i take it out it has that sign at the top of the screen saying "insert SIM". anyone know what i can do? i know its not my SIM card because it works with other phones. its something with this phone.
ok.. so the problem is.... i bought the phone off someone on craigslist. and the phone worked for 5 months. then it finallly locked up. ^^^^ so i called tmobile and they said that the person that i bought the phone off of did not pay for their first month's service so they blocked the phone from tmobile use. so i'm wondering is there anything i can do to make it work for tmobile.... if not. just unlock it and use it for tmobile?

SIMs also tend to burn out/stop working, visit your local tmo store and ask them to take a look at your SIM, they should be able to tell, and if it's burnt out they'll give you a new one. Have you tried this SIM in another phone since it stopped working in this phone?

so that pretty much means wont be able to use ever huh?
i guess when the sk4 was a free phone they got it and resold it, but ended up not paying that bill.

yeah, that sucks, the person might have agreed to a contract just to get the phone for free, then turn around and sell it. whatever happened, it sounds like maybe the only way to use it on Tmobile is to pay the person's outstanding bill
do you have a contract with Tmo? the only other thing i can think of at the moment is unlocking the phone to work with another carrier, like Simple Mobile, or whatever carriers would activate it.
i am definitely not an expert on how these things work, just trying to throw out ideas. i had never really thought about this, i just knew that when a phone is reported stolen, the carrier can block the phone so it can't be used on their network. i bought a Sprint phone off CL once, and i made sure to call Sprint and check the esn # to make the sure the phone was valid or whatever.

[Q] Phone Thinks I Am Roaming

Hello,
I bought my HTC Sensation about a year ago on Ebay. The seller claimed the phone was purchased outright and paid off. I checked the imei and it showed clean. When I got it, I popped my Airfire sim card into it and it worked fine. A month ago, I switched to Cricket as Airfire was going out of business. Cricket made me enter my imei. It said it was bad. I called T-Mobile and they said the seller defaulted on payments. They refused to help in any way. They told me to buy the phone direct from them next time. I told them I had proof I was buying it in good faith. They didn't care and apparently have no problem punishing the victim.
Anyways, when I got my Cricket sim and popped it in, my phone said I was roaming. It has said I was roaming for a full month now. I can send and receive calls, but my data is stuck at EDGE and some of the programs don't work since the phone thinks its roaming. I need to have "data roaming" enabled for data to work. Cricket ran some tests and eventually said I needed to do a factory reset.
So, I switched from the Android Revolution rom to the ViperS 5.2.1 rom. I did a full dalvik and cache wipe and reformatted everything but the sd card. I installed the new rom and kernal. Same thing. Phone still says I am roaming. Odd thing is, when I go to manually select carrier, my options are Cricket (current carrier), Airfire (previous carrier) and TMobile (stock carrier). Also, when I am using data, it has an "E" above the data. E is what Airfire used. Is there somehow somewhere a place that the phone is storing info through wipes?
I am s-off, rooted and debranded. I sim unlocked the phone myself. I am so stuck and think that only one of the geniuses on XDA are my only hope. I have went mental spending hours and hours on this. Some XDA peeps are smarted than HTC and Cricket combined, so please help me out here.
Thanks,
Grant

Hi grant, this is a very odd situation your in. With my sensation when I leave the UK and connect to another EU "partner network" is the only time my phone would jump into roaming mode. Is it possible that cricket is not directly supported in your area? Maybe they rent their local connection from another carrier and thats why your getting connected as roaming? Have you tried any other sim cards to see if they come up as roaming?

Hi heavy_metal_man
I am quite sure that At&t is Cricket's parent company so all of the towers should be At&t's networks. Also, I have checked it when in other cities and I get the same message, though I haven't traveled more than 30 miles away.
The previous sim with AirFire worked fine. I also popped out the sim for Cricket and put it in my mom's phone to see if it was the sim. Her's worked fine. She got the automatic Cricket update settings right away and was not roaming. Mine never got the Cricket pop-up so I had to manually enter all of the data info. Yes, odd indeed and I am lost.

OK, the info your adding manually, is that the same info as is registered when the card is in your mums phone? Same APN etc?

Hi heavy_metal_man. Yup. Same info. Only difference is that the info all loads automatically on hers. I do get automated texts from Cricket when I put the sim in my phone as did she, but I had to get the APN info from Cricket the first time because it didn't auto load. I am still wondering if it is a sim issue, but I expected my mom's phone to be roaming when I put the sim in hers. I was shocked when it wasn't. She just has a free stock phone from Airfire btw. Nothing fancy and nothing done to it.

Hmm. Are those 3 carriers the only ones available to you? I think the imei may be key here, if cricket know its a T-Mobile phone they may register that you are roaming. I think your previous carrier (airfire) was a Virtual mobile network, much like giffgaff in the UK ( which runs on the o2 network.) As such they may not have inforced the same imei policy's that cricket does. But this is just a hunch as I am on UK networks and we do things much differently. If you could ask about any friends and colleges that have different carrier simcards from our previous 3 you could gauge what carriers your phone is compatible with.
Worst case scenario you could maybe buy another broken htc sensation and perform a motherboard swap. This would solve your imei issue, assuming that it was the primary issue. But check the simcards first and report back

Hmm... There are only 3 carriers available. Should there be more? It's not tied to the sim? Everyone I know either still has Airfire and plans on switching to Cricket or has cdma so I have been out of luck with trying another sim. The only other thing I thought about was 4ext recovery. No matter what I flash; roms, kernals, firmware or radios, the recovery always survives of course. So, if the previous carriers are surviving the flashes, perhaps there is a place on the phone like the recovery where they are surviving.

Its unlikely to be to do with the recovery, no reason for it to keep anything like that. It's most likely the phones imei at this point, though im unsure as to why this was not an issue for airfire.
Do you know what firmware version you have? Have you flashed 3.33 by yourself?

Yup, I flashed 3.33 universal after doing a super Cid. Well, maybe its time to just get a new phone, although I would really like to figure out this problem first. I am not the kind of person who can just drop things, lol.

I know how you feel. Maybe its because they cricket know the sensation 4g is a T-Mobile device and force you into roaming mode by default. I think its possible to overwrite the devices mid and cid, flash a sensation XE rom and effectively have a sensation XE. But such things can be quite dangerous and i couldn't say for definite if it would work to fix your issue :/ (not recommending anyone tries this without proper research and understanding :/)
Can you get access to another cricket sim without a contract? Just for testing?

I believe I have already done that. When I go into info about my phone, it says Sensation XE. It also registers as Sensation XE in the Google play store. I was thinking about telling Cricket to send me a new sim. Otherwise, I have no access to one at this time.

I think that it would be your best bet, although your device is probably showing up on the play store as an XE because of its build.prop from your custom rom, not any advanced MID changes. although you can check by using the command
Code:
fastboot getvar all
this will show your your mid, cid and your imei among other things.

I've worked it out! Its a frequency issue. Cricket apparently only support cdma frequency's, while the sensation only uses gsm frequency's. So in order to connect your phone is bunnying onto a local gsm service, which is then redirecting you to cricket. Hence the roaming! If you want off the data roaming you will need to either swap to a different phone carrier or buy a cdma phone
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Hi heavy_metal_man,
Cricket did use CDMA for most of the time, but they have switched to GSM. They send a sim now and are trying to switch all of their old customers to GSM. What I am having trouble figuring out is what frequencies they use. Perhaps my phone is not quite compatible. I am having trouble with that as well. GSM arena, Phonescoop and the other major sites kind of have different data as far as my phone goes. My phone is called "HTC Sensation 4G" as far as I know. Yet, they list no 4g capability or frequencies. Of course, I believe that would only affect data and I still should not show as roaming.
I have been unable to figure out fastboot since switching to the viper rom. It doesn't use usb mass storage anymore. It uses the new system in which the whole phone is recognized as a storage device by the computer. Forgot what they called it. I wish they hadn't changed it, and apparently Windows 7 should recognize it by default, but it does not. I am sure if I get enough time to put into it I will figure out how to use the fastboot commands again.
I am ready to give up and just get a new phone pretty soon. Would be nice if Cricket's customer service wasn't so worthless. It could still be the IMEI or something on their end that I can do nothing about but they have failed to provide any solution.

Sorry for my delayed reply, I noticed that cricket swapped out to gsm and I discovered that their gsm tech is actually supplied at&t as they bought them out.
So I looked at their coverage map for the area airfire operated and I noticed that they had 2 or 3 area that were only providing 3g support via a partner, so I assume that would put you into roaming. It might be worth a look at their map and confirm if you reside on one of these black areas ?

Freedompop Nexus 5 and ROMs

I just got the refurbished Nexus 5 for freedompop through the stacksocial promo. Very good deal (unlimited talk, text and 500 mb LTE data/month, all free for a year). The device came with a very minimal install of android 5.1. Given the fact that the device has a special dialer and sms program (since everything goes over the data network), I was wondering what the options were for updating to 5.1.1 (stock vs other CM based roms).
Help appreciated.
I would be interested in the answer to this too. This sounds like a great way to stay contract free when I return to the States. Maybe look in to how you get the service working on a BYOD phone?
this the 199 deal? I was thinking of picking this up and just cancelling the service to have a spare 5 lying around

The phone is a refurbished b stock. Mine was in great shape except a small nick on the right side. So I cannot complain. The bootloader comes unlocked and there is a superuser zip on the phone so all you have to do is flash a custom recovery to flash that zip. Now I have to figure out whether I can put custom roms on this puppy.

Since it's the N5 it shouldn't be a problem for recoveries or anything rom related. They may have filled it with there own bloatware but it will work regardless

The issue is that since this phone operates solely over voip and data for messaging the normal dialer and messaging app is deleted and it has its own freedom pop dialer and messaging app.. I am not sure how integrated the whole freedom pop stuff into the system is.. I don't want to install a different rom and break the integration.

This is the promo I got for my sister. Is this VOIP the same thing as Freedompop 4G LTE? I thought FreedomPop was piggybacking on Sprint's cell network.
It does run on the sprint's LTE network but the sms and talk goes over the data network rather than the regular sprint network. So for all intents and purposes it is a VOIP phone with sprint reception. If you don't have LTE reception, the voice and sms parts don't work either.
I also took advantage of this incredible deal.
However I've had quite a few freezes with the ROM it's running.
It seemed just like Stock, however looking around I've noticed they've tweaked Stock quite a bit.
One of the most significant (and surprising) tweaks was the inclusion of Ambient Display.
I'm about to flash some ROMs and see how it works. Update this later.
Hmm. I had no issues with the rom itself. I think it is running very smoothly. I did root it though

Does this mean the 500MB free data will be used up as it's being used for calls and text? Sorry for the noob questions but I've never used VoIP before, like ever. My sister surprisingly isn't into social networking but she only texts with her best friends the most.
I know you probably don't know but if I flash CM12 on it would FreedomPop not work?

freedompop zip
I was wondering could someone post the freedompop zip that came on the phone? I foolishly deleted mine but I'd like to experiment with it now.
So I installed a recovery by simply flashing it since its already bootloader unlocked, obtained root and everything works. also made a backup just in case.
I went through the freedom pop rom on the phone and it has the apk files for phone and messaging. you can also pull them from the app store.
Im gonna flash a custom rom and then install the apk's. It should work and I could always set freedompop apps as the default dialer.

I flashed both Stock and CM but neither even recognized the Freedompop SIM card.
Guess we have to stay on their ROM if we want to use their service.
I also got the deal from freedom pop though I'm now regretting it as I'm reading this whole issue about the messaging app.... especially the fact that it's only a voip service being used, might as well use hangouts then!
Besides that, how good is the overall condition of your devices? I got tricked into thinking it was a genuinely "new" nexus 5 by pocketnow, nowhere did it read refurbished or "pre owned" until I got the email from freedompop.

Well that's depressing, hopefully someone finds what they did and is able to port the contents from their rom to another. Or we could also contact their support personally? they seem to be pretty dev-friendly. Have you tried messing with the prl? It's been a while since I've dealt with sprint

Just tried every PRL setting, still no dice.
Regarding the phone condition, mine arrived perfectly flawless. It can really pass as a new device. However I've heard that some people receive units with dings and bumps on the sides. Guess I got lucky
Mine Works!
I installed cataclysm rom as its one of my favorites. just updated the profile and prl as usual in the phone settings.
LTE and wifi working flawless.

It's strange that a ROM would be the reason for a SIM to work. Maybe it's using specific modems we're not aware of? The zip file in the phone seems to be the ROM. I had to unlock the bootloader, it didn't come with TWRP as others have claimed, to root it and installed TWRP to make a nandroid backup. I might take a chance with CM12 later today.
