No S Note widget? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Am I missing something? Even the galaxy S3 has a s-note widget. I mean that post it note kind of widget on the desktop where you can s jot some reminders and stuff. Lol, if one device would be suitable for such a widget it would be the note 10.1 with its big desktop Is it maybe part of some other firmware versions out there?

Yeah I don't understand why they didn't include one, especially since the original Note has one as well.

Doesn't the floating mini-app do the same thing you're looking for? And the mini-app is available on every home page, not just the one with the widget.

Could be a nice idea, but it is always on top (weird floating paradigm anyway lol. As if we are back at Windows 1.0. Z-order has yet to be reinvented.) Plus I would like to have it on the desktop.

As an example, this is one of my homescreens on my Note:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Clicking on the widget opens that note. The mini-app just creates a new note. I really have no idea why they wouldn't include this functionality as the larger screen would be much more conducive to it.

You can save your notes as short cuts to the home screen which will give you a little cleaner look.

Holy crap! I guess I'm a little anal retentive because for me it's all about symmetry and organization. That would drive me insane.

Would rather like a post it kind of widget where I quickly could jot down a reminder. Well maybe the S Pen SDK could finally come in handy now. Weird though they didn't include it. Really weird, considering that for the rest this is a amazing tablet .

Lol, well I be damned. Samsung itself seems to promote this solution

Considering that this window is always on top, I think it might be handier to just stick a real post-it note on the screen

Yeah it's not the best but the notes don't render properly when they're resized unless you maintain the same aspect ratio.

I think the absence of such a feature is a disastrous failure and I'm irate that my S3 has this, but the my note 10.1 does not.

I see... Thanks. But that's nowhere near as wonderful as the S Memo widget, that lets you write something [like a memo or note to self] and keep it on your screen, so that you can remember. The S Note mini app stays on top of your screen -and more importantly, it remain editable, the whole time.

you are welcome
Widget could be nice of course, I guess

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about but I have an SNote widget that has all of my SNotes shown on the screen and I can just click on the one of interest and it opens up for reading or editing.

nice..what's the name of this widget? I haven't in my version.

You seem to be a problem solver, and give friendly advice to people. I try as well from time to time.
I wonder if you have an idea for a solution to a small problem of mine?
One of the guys who contributed with a MIUI theme marouane80 had some screenshots which had some icons which were semitransparent glassy/glossy. I think they are very beautiful and would have loved to use them with whatever rom/launcher I'm using at the moment.
I have sent him a pm but received no answer.
I have also searched market for them but even if I find many glassy/glossy icons none of them are as beautiful as those he has in his screenshots. I don't know if he made them or if he found elsewhere and used them in his themes.
The dream would be to find the Photoshop glass template that I think they/he/she must be using to make them, then I could make my own. (If it's public ofcourse)
Any ideas?

better than floating stickies because of the transparensy.
Are you planning to implement the feature to enable minimization of notes to notification and to restore/reopen it from there? It would be awesome then.

There are two ways to share a note:
1. (e-Mail/blutooth) longclick on a saved note and select send file
2. (dropbox/sms/twitter...) open the menu by tapping the top left icon and select share. Dropbox will be listed there. Don't forget to add ".txt" when renaming the file at dropbox.

I tried exactly the same. no luck.
Btw, similar implementation in floating stickes is working, so nothing wrong with me or the device

Also, it'd be great if I could drag from writable area too, it gets real problematic when the NOTE is all the way upto status bar

AW: [APP][2.1+] Floating Notes
Hallo Carsten
Very cool app. Just tested it and brought premium right away of play.
Was so excited that I forgot that I found it on xda that I've written you a mail.
I had the suggestion to make it possible to have options on what side in minimizes, cause on bigger screens I'd prefer the right side for example. Using S3 with 4.2 revolt ROM
Edit: thanks for the quick response on mail. So excellent support proven.
Great app!
I have a small feature suggestion, it would be useful to have an option to enable an auto-save that automatically saves with a time/date based name when the note window is closed. Maybe a button to close with auto save and one for close and discard.
Awesome app! Last update broke it for me. When I start the app now the notes are all docked on the left as I left them, but instead of the little pen icon I get different colored squares lined up and down the left side of the screen. Can you post the prior versions which worked fine for me? I'm running jelly bomb rom on my note 2. Thanks!

Really, a very good APP! Love it, but i have to mention some thins or better a have some wishes for the next update...
If you could to a Pen Option to make straight lines and forms automatically (vector like maybe with ruler)
I have to make a Logo with some Corners and Lines but I cant do them free handed.
And maybe, when i use the SPEN in some apps, i can use my finger as the RUBBER! Thats a great Feature i wish it were here to!
After that, the app would be perfect and im gonna buy the Premium one for 4 bucks
Great APP!

We've just published beta version with support for resizeable canvas (up to 2560x2560 on GNote), since this is really big change and moreover I'd like to optimize a bit since it's a bit laggy with large canvas (with size close to upper limit) we really didn't want to publish it without a bit more testing.
Anyone interested may join beta here: https://plus.google.com/communities/107924407194727239320

Really good app. Android has needed a good art app for a while. I feel the thing that's holding back most other art apps is their UI. Sketchbook Pro has the potential to be excellent, but you need to click so darn much to get anything done. Artflow is smoooth.
I'm encountering a bug on my TF700T (asus transformer infinity). Sometimes when I adjust a brush size or flow or color, the tool changes to the Bucket tool. The bucket tool icon is not selected, giving no indication as to why it's performing bucket actions. Clicking on the bucket icon then the brush icon fixes this problem. But I have to do it every time it screws up.
Is this a bug, or am I activating the bucket tool with some gesture?

It's a bug - bucket is not highlighted so it should not be active. I'll check that.

[GUIDE] Get Reachability (IOS8 feature) on android

If you have followed the publicity about the new iPhone, you have probably seen the Reachability feature and thought, "that would be neat on my 5.5inch super-mobile".
If you have never heard about "Reachability", this is what it's about:
With new features like Reachability you can interact with the larger screen in different ways, too. Simply double touch the Home button and the entire screen shifts down closer to your thumb.

Well here is some good news for you: it isn't that hard.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Rooted phone
Xposed framework and the One-Hand Mode module (Premium is best, to get it to work properly)
Tasker or a launcher that allows you to use gestures.
PROCEDURE:
Install xposed, if you haven't already, and the OHM module (follow their instructions)
Activate the module
Restart
Now to activate the functionality:
I have set the OHM module to move the the screen 700 pixels from the top.
{

}
Then I used Tasker to make a profile where an up-down shake will activate the One-Hand Toggle app.
If you use a launcher which allows for gestures you can also use these to activate the Toggle App.
This is what it looks like when it works:
SHAKE and voila:
(screen shots will be added later. Details will be added if asked for)
Explanation of what this "reachability feature" thing is would help a lot lol.

Adding a quick summary regarding the functionality of which the thread is about isn't too much to ask. No need to be like that about it...
You're right, it isn't too much to ask, but the OP hasn't done that so a better usage of your time probably would have been just to look it up. I wasn't 'being like that' anyway, it was said in jest.

YouTube 'ios8 reachability' and stop wasting OP's time. We all know what it is by looking it up ourselves. A simple video will explain to you in sec.
Is it only in launcher?
snorrski said:
If you have followed the publicity about the new iPhone, you have probably seen the Reachability feature and thought, "that would be neat on my 5.5inch super-mobile".
If you have never heard about "Reachability", this is what it's about:

I'm not sure I understand the question. Did you mean whether this feature unly works with one Launcher? Or that it only works with the launcher, and not in apps?
To answer accordingly: I have only tried this in one launcher, but i see no reason why it shouldn't work with all launchers. It does work in apps (if not, what would be the point, right?), though not so well in "full screen" apps.
pie control
Pie control works better for me I find... Using the Oneplus
Also if you have nova launcher, you can add 'Nova Actions' to your homescreen that are essentially shortcut icons ie. for the status bar or notifications

Yea I agree, Pie is the way for me too. I had Note 2 and 3 and never used "One Hand Mode". I just always thought there had to be an easier way to turn it on and off. Same here
this feature is already there in colour os
Color os is the best i love it
Gestures?
I've been trying to use the gesture to toggle the OHM. Any ideas?

[DEV][NEED USER FEEDBACK] Ultimate Edge Panel

Hi guys!
As a developer and fan of the beautiful edge screen, I was learning about the add-on edge panels available, and came up with this idea.
I request the community to provide me some quick feedback on my idea:
Would you like to have an Ultimate Edge Panel, which will let you add any widget that you can add to your homescreen, to the edge? Initially, any one widget could be added (say, Google Fit Widget, Messaging widget etc.)
As a S7 Edge user, do you think it's a great idea? Do you know of any add-on Edge panel which already lets you do it?
Please let me know, based on the feedback, I might have a prototype for you guys very soon.
Cheers!
Update: Looks like there is already a panel which does exactly that, it's called "Widget edge panel". Thanks everybody for pointing it out. I am still exploring the particular panel to know if I could further innovate on it and if it would be worth developing a new panel from scratch. Open to suggestions.
That's a great idea!
I don't use -any- of the edge features today. Would activate it again for something like this.
Excellent idea. Maybe an aroma with choice?

already exists.
I'd be interested in a slick and good version of this
EDIT: my main reason for this would probably be a quick-peek of Google Now without having to worry about holding home etc.

Thank you for the response!

Could you please point me to a link where I can learn more about it?
Google Maps edge.
Pulling out the panel shows Google Maps, real handy when you're walking about trying to find some place. Could really use that.

May I know where can i find it?
Already exist n called widget edge.
I see no way or sharing a link.
When u go into edge and click on download that is where u can search for it.
It allows u to add any widget but u cannot resize. So without resizing it's pretty useless.

The idea is great. I achieved kind of the same thing with a combo of glovebox as sidebar launcher and popup widget. Does exactly that. Only flaw is that you cant swipe between widgets but on the other hand you choose exactly what you need each time no need to swipe multiple times to get where you want.
Just tried the one mentioned earlier, as pointed out without the ability to resize it's not very useful...
If there was an edge panel where I could have the full length google now widget I'd be a happy bunny.

Thanks for the link, however looks like it's not really a panel which lets you add 'widgets'.
As pointed earlier by a few, I found the particular add-on panel in the store, looks like it's exactly what I thought it should be. It's called 'Widget Edge Panel' on the store.

I see. I will explore the particular panel further to know if it would really be worth the time to develop a new panel from scratch.
